You will be receiving Part 18 as a Coloring/Effects Artist! You are responsible for coloring in the line art, and adding lighting/shading/other effects to make the page a complete and polished final product.
Your chapter section prompt begins from the beginning of Chapter 3 (https://blogclan.katecary.co.uk/2013/09/03/trailing-stars-chapter-3-by-hawksky/) to “…She peeked above the bush, surprised to see a patrol of cats, poised to attack her.”
Coloring/Effects Artist Page Guidelines
Rule number one is: good communication! Please let us know if anything comes up that might cause delay – you are allowed a one week extension, and if you are still unable to complete your part, you can pass on it for now and get assigned a new part at a later time 🙂
Style: You can do full-color, or black-and-white. You can use digital art or traditional. Feel free to utilize your unique style! One thing that will not be allowed is palette drawings, since they can make it super unclear which character is which by disregarding everyone’s color schemes (especially chaotic in a story with as many characters as this one). Please follow the official character references as closely as possible, as shown in the spreadsheet attached on the TSGN Resources.
Schedule: Your full schedule is 2 weeks long, and starts August 5th (or whenever you receive your lineart), though you can certainly start your part before then. We will be checking in as follows to make sure it’s coming along nicely!
– Your first week check-in (ONLY CHECK-IN) will be for the completion of the page’s flat coloring and background – August 12th
– Your part should be complete by August 19th
All roles are allowed an extension of 1 week – please let us know ASAP if you need one!

Hi Piney! So just to be clear cuz long paragraphs don’t register well in my brain, I’m supposed to just colour the line art in, add lighting, shading, etc right? I’m assuming that you don’t have the lineart now right? That’s all, thanks!

Hi Piney, I’m so sorry that I haven’t submitted my part even though it’s so late. I accidentally deleted the app I was colouring with and I didn’t save it or anything so I had to start over. I was also busy but I’m having a school break so I will submit it by Friday. I am so, so sorry and I hope you can understand.

Hi Piney! I have a question and I’m sorry if it sounds a bit rude! I see Part 15 and it looks a lot shorter than Part 16 and it’s done by three people as well! I mean, I could have done the colouring a bit better and faster if I had a shorter part! I don’t mean to be rude or anything, I’m just having a bad day and this has been nagging me for a while now so please forgive my rudeness.
no worries – thanks for pointing it out, and i appreciate the feedback! looking at the breakdown again you’re right that part 16 was pretty long, and i definitely could have broken it down into two parts; i usually break up these parts with a combination of chatgpt and me manually reading, so i’ll definitely work on optimizing that process in the future 😀
