      Elkheart-
Elkheart panted under the weak shade of a tree, not very far from CliffClan’s abandoned camp. So many cats left to find somewhere else to live, too many. The remaining slipped from warriors to loners, some even running away to become kittypets. She knew she wasn’t as young as she used to be,that her aching joints and wheezing chest wouldn’t be able to keep up,so she stayed. The she-cat wonders if she made the wrong choice after all.

      • Softscar –

Softscar padded over to Elkheart and rested her tail on the elderly she-cat’s back. She could tell that Elkheart was wondering if she made the right choice, and at that moment, Softscar was, too.

  • Softscar;

Softscar limped over to her mate, Flickerpool, thinking about what her kin that had left were doing. She wondered whether they made the right choice staying behind.

    Flickerpool;

Flickerpool, noticing his mate’s doubt, went over and pressed up to her side, comforting her.

  • ~Lynxshade~
lynxshade sat beside her mate barktail,
“Have we made the right choice” she whispered in her mates ear.
    ~Barktail~
“As long a we are together I know we have made the right choice” he replied Barktail
    ~lynxshade~
“But barktail look around, all there is is monster and drought and suffering, Cliffclan needs a new home”
    ~Barktail~
“and where do you suppose we will find that”
    ~Lynxshade~
“any where but here, there is nothing for us here anymore, we need to come together again and find a new home”
    ~Barktail~
“But no one will listen to us”
    ~Lynxshade~
“They are going to have to if cliffclan is to survive.”
    ~Barktail~
    “But everyone left”
    ~Lynxshade~
    “Not everyone,”
she stood up and pate over to Elkheart, flickerpool, and softscar and had a swift conversation with them.
    ~Barktail~
    Barktail padded behind his mate.
“If we are to survive we need a new home” he heard her meow. ” Drought and monster is no life for a cat. we can find a new home and re build cliffclan to it’s previous glory” she finished. Barktail waited with anticipation to see what the cats would say.

    • Elkheart-
Elkheart blinked at Softscar, sighing heavily at the reflected tiredness in her eyes. Everyone was starving, everyone was on edge. The she-cat was going to say something, but Lynxshade appeared.

“If we survive we need a new home.” She titled her head. That’s what the others said,if Lnyshade believed that why didn’t she go with them? “Drought and monsters are no life for a cat. We can find a new home and rebuild CliffClan to it’s previous glory.”

Elkheart sighed again. “There’s already a patrol out there trying to rebuild CliffClan. They chose to leave,I chose to stay.” She wondered again if the choice was right. “I can’t abandon this place, generations of cats have survived against all odds, and I will too.”

The dryness of her throat seemed stronger than ever, the pain in her limbs and hunger in her belly were maximized, reminding her of all the bad things going on in the territory. New two-leg buildings crept closer and closer, prey was hard to find, clean water even harder. But she couldn’t leave, she was tied to the land that her family had grown up on. It would be too much, she wouldn’t make it even if she tried. So she didn’t try.

      • ~Lynxshade~
I understand your worries but you couldn’t possibly live here. elkheart think about it, how long do you think you will live here, you two softscar and flickerpool,” she turned her head to the pair ” can you really risk being captured by twolegs again, after you escaped them.” she meowed.” ether way if you choose to come or not, me and Barktail are leaving for the patrol at dawn tomorrow, join us if you wished” she meowed, then sat down beside her mate.

        • Flickerpool~

Flickerpool came over to the group of cats. “Softscar, she’s right. We need to find a new home. We have a death wish if we stay here.” Flickerpool pressed up against his mate’s side. “Please, just… just think about it.”

          Softscar~

Softscar pressed her nose into Flickerpool’s fluffy fur before pulling away and limping over to Elkheart. “Elkheart, we should leave. It’s not worth it to stay here. If you come with us, we’ll help you on the journey. Sure, we might be able to survive here, but we cant live here. and be happy.” Softscar put her tail over Elheart’s shoulders comfortingly.

  • ~lynxshade~
It was dawn, she and Barktail padded to the group of cats, “what will it be are you staying or coming”

    • Softscar-

“Flickerpool and I are coming.” Softscar mewed quietly, taking a glace back at what once was the beautiful camp, filled with playing kits, frolicking apprentices, resting warriors, and grumpy elders. Now, it was overgrown and devoid of any life. Shaking her head, she straightened up to her full height and prepared herself mentally for the journey. “Although, I’m not sure about Elkheart…” She murmered.

      • ~Lynxshade~
she pressed against softscar’s side, “thank you” she meowed to the two cats, then waited for elkheart choice,

        • Elkheart-
Elkheart hadn’t slept, she’d stayed awake and listened to the crickets, hoping they would lull her to sleep like they used to. It didn’t work. But at least she had made up her mind.

She slowly padded over to Lynxshade, knowing it would be the last time she saw her face. She was staying, she wasn’t going to weigh down healthier cats. Maybe she could become a housecat like Gravelwing did. He was younger, but hopefully some two-leg would still notice her.

“I’m…I’m sorry.” Was the first thing Elkheart said as she glanced from Softscar to Flickerpool,Barktail to Lynxshade. She would miss them, yes,it would be lonely, but it would be safe.

When she was younger, she ate alongside kittypets in leaf-bare,she let the creature they called Michael pet her,it wouldn’t be a bad adjustment. The she-cat’s mind came back to the current situation,so she spoke again.

“I wish you well, and I’m going to worry about you all,and I pray to StarClan you find somewhere suitable. My body is too old for journeying,I don’t know if I could make it out of the territory. Go without me,dears,go and make the new CliffClan.”

(I really like making characters call other characters by nicknames :p)

          • ~Lynxshade~
“Oh, Elkheart, we will miss you, and once we find a new home, we’ll come and fetch you, Just please, hold on util then” Memories flashed in her head, once when she was an apprentice, she and Barktail didn’t clean out Elkheart’s bedding properly, when the elder noticed, the two ran away and hid from her, eventually they returned and were tasked with caring for the elders on their own for 2 moons. the thought made her sad, she was going to leave a good portion of her life, for the first time she wondered if she and Barktail had made the right choice deciding to leave then dragging Flickerpool and Softscar into it, she quickly shook the thought away, they were going for a bit, until they found a home. then she would get Elkheart back, to live out the rest of her days with a full belly and a soft place to sleep.

she turned around and led the cats to the edge of the territory, she glanced back at Elkheart, ((It wont be long untill we see each other again)) she thought and left the territory for the journey of a lifetime.

            • Elkheart-
“StarClan light your paths,” She whispered once the four had disappeared, blinking wearily and turning away. It wouldn’t take long to find humans, but she wanted to visit the old camp one last time.

A wave of sadness came over her as she walked through it,remembering better times. Times when prey was still plentiful and the warm sunlight was comfortable instead of scorching. Days like that were over, she had to adapt.

So Elkheart did what she could and made it to a two-leg nest and laid in the shade of it,panting and tired. The she-cat vaguely heard heavy footsteps behind her,but she didn’t raise her head. She didn’t have the energy.

    • (Elkheart is currently laying outside of a human den,not inside camp ^-^)

      Elkheart-
Elkheart jumped, energy suddenly flowing through her once again. She wasn’t greeted by a two-leg face, instead Leafrose,CliffClan’s medicine cat apprentice, stood in front of her. The she-cat was confused, she hadn’t seen Leafrose in days, but there she was,the enticing scent of catmint wafting off of her. ‘She must have been gathering herbs’ She realized, shakily getting to her paws.

“It…took you a while.” She said, catching her breath between words. It seems to have gotten hotter, she was panting now,her pelt prickling uncomfortably. She wanted to go back to camp and rest inside her old den, even if it was falling apart.

“Are you heading back home? I’ll go with you.” Though Elkheart wasn’t sure she could call the place she grew up in home anymore, now that most of the cats she knew had either left or died,he didn’t know what else to call her camp, and her nest, and her remaining clanmates. If it was up to her,the territory would remain ‘home’ for seasons to come, but deep down, she knew that wouldn’t happen. CliffClan had fallen apart,it would be hard to start anew, even harder to keep the place together without it crumbling once again.

      • Leafrose-

“Yes,” she answered, blinking uncomfortably. It unsettled her to see Elkheart like this. “Are you okay?”

The sun was grazing her pelt, and Leafrose wished nothing else but to seek shelter from the trees.

        • Elkheart-
“I’m alright, just feeling my age.” The she-cat had been feeling her age for several years, aching joints and shaking paws was nothing new.

“…Lynxshade and them have left,y’know. It’s only us and a few others still here.” Elkheart coughed, turning her head so she didn’t get her sickness on Leafrose. She had had an on and off virus for a few months, she didn’t want to get the medicine cat sick. One more death could send what was left of CliffClan crashing down even quicker than it was already. She didn’t want that.

          • Leafrose-

Leafrose tensed, feeling her whole body tingle with anxiety. “They left?” she whispered, her voice trembling. “But who’ll heal them?” The she-cat turned her head away and stared at the horizon, imagining the cats who had left on their journey to find a new home.

              • It took some time for Leafrose to regain her composure. She wondered if the cats who had left took some supplies from her den, and hoped they did. There would be no way they would be able to recognize any herbs.

What if they eat poisonous plants? she thought anxiously, but brushed the thought away and smiled at Elkheart brightly, in a poor attempt to reassure her.

“Then I’m sure they’re fine,” she meowed. “They’re strong, capable warriors. Right?”

She waited for the elder’s response, her breath catching in her throat with anxiety.

          • ‘Oh,she’s not going back to camp, she just met me on accident’ Elkheart felt a pang of sadness go through her;she was hoping one of her previous clanmates had returned, but she should have known better.

“Good-bye,” The she-cat murmured, noting that Leafrose had left her bundle of catmint behind, but she was already a good distance away. So she let her get farther and farther from her, without the herbs, without company. Eventually, with the sun scorching her pelt, she started to walk towards the shade she desperately needed in a forest a bit away.
