My Thought on Silverstream by Frostflight

Frostflight shares their thoughts on Silverstream.

Frostflight here with her third (or fourth) article! Today I will be examining Silverstream and saying my opinions on her.

(SPOILERS FOR THE PROHPECIES BEGIN, THE NEW PROPHECY, CROOKEDSTAR’S PROMISE, LEOPARDSTAR’S HONOR, Basically any book that has Silverstream in it lol)

Silverstream was born to Willowbreeze and Crookedstar in RiverClan. Silverstream has two littermates, Minnowkit and Willowkit, but unfortunately they died alongside Willowbreeze because of greencough. Silverstream survived and was fostered by Sunfish and Beetlenose, but she still had her actual father, Crookedstar. She had foster littermates throughout kit hood and apprentice hood who were nice, kind, and supported her.
I don’t think we get much of her until she saves Graystripe from the river when he accidentally fell in the broken ice. It was love at first sight, and they started meeting up.
When the battle of RiverClan and ShadowClan vs WindClan and ThunderClan happened, she was hesitant to attack ThunderClan cats because of, well, Graystripe. In Leopardstar’s Honor it is shown that Silverstream and Whiteclaw, a RiverClan tom, are close. When Whiteclaw dies by a river at the bottom of a gorge(Leopardfur thinks Graystripe pushed him), and Slverstream seems depressed, Leopardfur assumes it is because that Whiteclaw died and, when confronted gently about this, Silverstream lets Leopardfur believes it.
Fast-forward a bit, Silverstream is found out by Leopardfur and when they get into an argument Silverstream says she is expecting Graystripe’s kits. She also says that she will switch Clans if she had to to be with Graystripe. When Leopardfur says that Crookedstar will be heart-broken, Silverstream insists that he will get over it.
Silverstream eventually suddenly has her kits when looking for Graystripe, who finds her and sends for Fireheart, who comes with Cinderpaw. The medicine cat apprentice tries her best to help the kits and Silverstream and successfully helps her birth two healthy kits, Stormkit and Featherkit, but unfortunately Silverstream dies in the process.
She ascends to StarClan and watches from StarClan. Her role isn’t that important anymore.

Now that we have some context about Silverstream, let me say my opinion on her. I will be as hard-opinioned as I can.
Silverstream is an stubborn, selfish, oblivious, and spoiled brat.

I have multiple instances to prove this.
For stubborn, she keeps telling Leopardstar that whatever choice she makes will have no effect on RiverClan or ThunderClan, when it clearly does! *cough* Tigerstar *cough*. She sees no problem with having Graystripe as a mate, and says that Leopardstar is overreacting. Like I said above as well when asked by Leopardstar that Crookedstar would be sad and depressed if she leaves, Silverstream says that he will get over it.
First of all, he is your StarClan-darn father. He cares for you a lot, ESPICALLY after he lost your littermates and Willowbreeze to greencough. I think he would want his daughter around in a Clan he led and a Clan you’re supposed to be loyal to. But Silverstream dismisses this and says she will do anything to be wth Graystripe.
I get that love is powerful. But I am shocked that Silverstream would turn away from RiverClan so quickly because of a ThunderClan tom. I understand her perspective, but I kinda side with Leopardstar with this one. Also, after Silverstream dies, Crookedstar is clearly struck by grief hard. Which means that if you had left, Silverstream, it would’ve hurt him just as much if you died. Which you did. *clears throat*
That’s a bit selfish, too, thinking about nobody but herself and Graystripe.

Nobody is also talking about the fact that she lied to Leopardstar about her grief with Whiteclaw to make her lose suspicion that she was sticking up for Graystripe. She lied to Leopardstar’s face about Whiteclaw. If you’ve read Leopardstar’s honor, you would know that Leopardstar and Whiteclaw were incredibly close after Sunfish died. They were close beforehand too.
So that means that she was willing to lie about what she felt about Whiteclaw, who had died not a couple days before, so Graystripe could stay safe. That may seem harmless, but how would you feel if you had a crush on someone, you died, and then they said that they loved you a lot to somebody else so that they could secretly love someone else? I’d be a bit offended. I respect Whiteclaw for not thinking much of it in StarClan, which means he understood why Silverstream did it. Good on you, Whiteclaw! ^^

Silverstream was slightly spoiled by her Clan and Crookedstar (after Oakheart convinced him to be an actual good father to her and talk to her and stuff) because her mother and littermates died, and she took it to the extreme, saying to Fireheart a couple of times that she and Graystripe wouldn’t get in trouble because Crookedstar, leader of RiverClan, was her father.
So we’re saying that you’re more important because you were born to a leader? And you wouldn’t get in trouble because Crookedstar would “defend you”? (He actually might, I don’t know, he was a good and loyal leader and maybe he would be a bit angry, I really don’t know. I’m not focusing on the what-ifs in this article). That’s a little irritating. I forgot if Fireheart felt a bit annoyed by that or not.
Moving on.

There really isn’t much else negative I have about Silverstream. Before this, I would’ve said she was a Mary Sue, but after writing this article I forgot how many annoying flaws she had. So no, she isn’t a Mary Sue, even though I don’t like her.
Feathertail isn’t either. *coughs* Sorry I’m getting off topic.

In conclusion, Silverstream was impulsive and very disloyal. Not just because of Graystripe, but to her Clanmates aswell. She was very stubborn and selfish, thinking of herself a bit higher then others, even if she didn’t sometimes mean it. Do I blame Graystripe for her actions? Eh, not really. It was her choice. I just didn’t like her character.
