    • Icegaze-
Icegaze paced near the fresh-kill pile. It was pitifully low. How will I ever be a leader when I can’t even provide for my clan? he though to himself. Dark Forest cats had been killing their prey and leaving it to decompose, making it almost impossible to find edible prey. He looked around at his clanmates, spotting his sister,Fogstorm, grooming herself in front of the warrior’s den. He padded over,”Want to go on a hunting patrol?” he asked, needing to at least try and help the situation. She nodded and stood up. She pressed against him,”We’ll get through this,” she said. “things will get better.” together, the two of them walked out of camp.

      Fogdapple-
Fogdapple sat, grooming cleaning her fur. It had become a habit of hers, when she was stressed, she would groom herself. This resulted in their fur now being overly shiny and smooth. They needed something to distract themselves from the awful things happening, and grooming was an easy way to take their mind off things. Her brother appeared in front of her, causing her to jump a bit. “Want to go on a hunting patrol?” he asked, looking tired. Fogdapple doubted he was sleeping much,he never did when something bad was going on. She nodded and got up. Icegaze refused to admit when he needed help or comfort,so Fogdapple had to decide for him.

Pressing their side against Icegaze’s,they started speaking softly. “We’ll get through this,” she assured, almost whispering. “things will get better.” they didn’t fully believe that things would ever get better, not anymore. She tried to make herself believe that something would happen, something that forced the ghosts back into the Dark Forest, but it had been moons and nothing was improving. The clans other than BoneClan were still starving. The Dark Forest cats were still terrorizing them. Cats were still dying. Fogdapple didn’t think anything would improve at all,but it didn’t matter. What mattered was helping keep her clanmates spirits high, helping them find the motivation to keep fighting, even if they didn’t share it.

    • Icegaze-
Icegaze sat down next to the fresh-kill pile and started sifting through it,taking inventory of what was left. Two hares, one rabbit,a vole that ran across the ThunderClan border, and the mockingbird Steelclaw had managed to catch. It wasn’t enough,he would need to send out more hunting patrols. Choosing the vole to take to the elders,he padded over to the semi-covered shelter. Hopefully the prey that was left was enough to keep the elders and queens from starving.

    • Catchflight sat in the clearing grabbing a scrawny mouse then dropping it in embarrassment. His clan mates needed it more then him. Then he walked over to the app den, he took a liking in cheetahpaw. They could be a good friend he thought.

      • Icegaze-
Icegaze nodded to Havenflight and Brindlepaw then padded away. He saw Catchflight and came to stand next to him. “Hello,Catchflight. Are you looking for someone?” he realized with a pang that he wasn’t sure where Cheetahpaw was. It’s part of my job to keep track of my clanmates! What did the leader see in me?

    • Fogdapple-
Fogdapple heard her brother’s voice and padded out of the nursery. She was confused as to why he was calling a clan meeting, but sat down to hear him anyways. Their eyes grew wide as he announced the news. She took a shuddering breath, trying to figure out what to say. “Do-do we know if BoneClan has Dark Forest cats with them?” she asked, already assuming they did.

      • Glowsong-

“I-I don’t know.” Glowsong mewed, thinking hard, “Minnowstar was in too much of a rush to tell me- but it’s safe to assume that they’re both attacking. It is a raid, after all…”

        • (Realized I put this in the wrong thing)

          Windmist-
He padded out of the shadows, ready to cause some havoc. “Minnowstar lies, I was just in RiverClan territory. They are planning on leading you into an ambush!” He said, urgently. “Why would they share food with you in a time like this? It’s every cat for themselves.”

    • Berrysplash-
A starry tom padded into the barren camp, nodding to Heronwing before realizing he didn’t know he was there. Berrysplash made an effort to check on all the clans when he could. Except BoneClan. He hated how those fox-heart called themselves clan cats when they didn’t have a shred of dignity or respect for the code.

Even though he died right before Sootstar and his group appeared,Berrsplash felt as strongly as someone who was killed in the shattering. He would do anything to help the living cats, but since only Roseshade and Skipflight could see him, there wasn’t many options for him to use.

    • Glowsong-

Glowsong shifted in her nest, the excitement of her first day as a warrior battling her lack of sleep from her vigil the night before. She could tell from the way the light shone through her eyelids that the sun was high in the sky; was it noon already? She should probably at least check to see if she was needed for anything. There was a shortage of prey and a hostile Clan preparing to attack, after all.
Reluctantly, Glowsong opened her eyes and struggled to her paws. She noted that she was the only one left in the den. Everyone else probably thinks I’m too lazy to be a warrior. She lamented jokingly as she stretched the sleep from her limbs. StarClan, please don’t make me an apprentice after this!
Glowsong smiled nervously to herself. She knew her Clanmates would understand. Icegaze had told her to get some rest! No one would be angry with her for following the Deputy’s orders. She quickly groomed herself; deciding to ignore the way her ribs stuck out from her pelt. Most cats in the Clans looked that way, with the Dark Forest killing their prey and leaving it to rot. How much longer can we survive like this? She wondered as she finished grooming. We’re hunted in our own territory and slowly starving to death; meanwhile Boneclan gets stronger and bolder with each passing day! She shuddered as she recalled the way they had ambushed a ThunderClan patrol four moons ago; killing their Deputy and an apprentice without mercy. How can StarClan let this happen to us? Glowsong fretted.
With that she stepped through the exit of her new den, her black and orange fur bristling with excitement and dread for whatever her first day as a warrior held for her.

      • Icegaze-
Icegaze padded through the camp entrance, holding a small hare. Fogdapple walked behind him, carrying nothing. He walked over to the fresh-kill pile and dropped the measly food on top. He spotted Glowsong and nodded to her.

“Hello,Glowsong. I’m glad you got some sleep, the warrior’s night vigil is always hard.” he flicked his tail to the hare. “We went on a hunting patrol, but as you can see, there’s not much prey.” He watched as Fogdapple pushed her way into the nursery to check on the kits, then looked back at the she-cat in front of him “I’d like you to go on a border patrol with a few clanmates today,(insert WindClan leader’s name) has been sending out extra patrols in an effort to keep BoneClan off our territory.” he smiled weakly, feeling very tired.

        • Glowsong-

Glowsong dipped her head respectfully, her heart racing with excitement. “Of course! I’ll get going right away.” She meowed.
My first day as a warrior, and I’m already in charge of a patrol! She glanced around the clearing wondering who to take. Three cats should be enough for a border patrol… We’ll probably stop by the ThunderClan border first; BoneClan is more likely to come from that side, and then we should check RiverClan. That sounds right! A course mapped out in her head, she walked to the corner of the clearing, where a few warriors were sharing tongues.
“Icegaze wants me to lead a border patrol!” She announced proudly
“Your first assignment as a warrior! Congratulations.” Purred a tan and white she-cat.
“Thanks, Sandcloud! I’ll do my best to remember everything you taught me.” Glowsong promised her old mentor.
“I hope so.” Muttered a light grey tom with blue eyes. “StarClan knows how badly we need good hunters right now.” It was Steelclaw, who had been an apprentice not that many moons ago.
“Well, maybe you can find some prey on my patrol.” Glowsong suggested.
Steelclaw blinked, confused, then rolled his eyes as he realized she was taking him along. “Maybe I will.” He grunted as he got to his paws. “I take it Sandcloud is also coming?”
“You didn’t even need to ask.” Sandcloud confirmed, stretching her front legs in preparation for the trek ahead of them.
“Alright! I was thinking we’d start with the ThunderClan border and make our way past RiverClan. Icegaze wants us to make sure BoneClan doesn’t invade, so we should keep an eye out for trouble.”
“We know, let’s just get on with it.” Steelclaw sighed impatiently. “I want to be back before I starve to death.”
Glowsong nodded, feeling a bit embarrassed. I could’ve told them that on the way…. That would’ve been better. She thought dejectedly.
Steelclaw padded to the camp exit, pausing to glance over his shoulder. “Glowsong! Are you leading this patrol or not?” He called dryly.
Glowsong felt her mentor’s tail touch her shoulder comfortingly. “Just ignore him. We’re all a little grumpy these days, what with the Dark Forest attacking our food supply.” Sandcloud assured her. “Now, we’d better get going so he doesn’t have anything else to complain about!” She mewed, half-joking.
Glowsong smiled, then she walked to the camp exit with Sandcloud close behind.
A stinging glance from Steelclaw later, and Glowsong was officially leading her first patrol.

          • Glowsong-

Glowsong patrolled the RiverClan border alone. Her clanmates had both caught prey, and, not wanting the Dark Forest to get to it before them; both had returned to camp. Eager to complete her first warrior task, Glowsong had volunteered to finish the patrol on her own. She had made good progress for a time; but hunger had begun to viciously gnaw at her belly, causing her to lose focus.
I’d almost give my position as a warrior for a good meal... She lamented, trying her best to concentrate on where the border was. To say that my belly thinks my throat’s been torn out is… A huge understatement. I’m starting to believe that maybe I never had a throat! It’d explain why I feel so empty…
Somewhere in her mind, Glowsong registered that the sun’s light was less prominent than it had been before. It was subtle, at first, but after a moment the light swiftly began to fade. Then is disappeared entirely.
“How can it be dark already?” Glowsong wondered aloud, her tail dragging through the sand in exhaustion. “I haven’t been gone for that long, have I?” She looked around her, noticing in alarm that she didn’t recognize where she was. She scented the air in confusion, wondering if she had made a wrong turn somewhere and ended up outside her territory. Reeds, marshland, cats… Is that fish? She froze in her tracks. RiverClan. She had somehow trespassed onto RiverClan territory. (How Convenient!!!)
No sooner had Glowsong turned to leave then the yowl of a RiverClan cat cut across her path. Panic set in and she started to run, but to no avail. A heavy weight landed on her shoulders and pinned her down. She braced herself for the cat to attack.
            No attack came.
“Glowpaw? Glowpaw! Thank StarClan I don’t have to run all the way to WindClan’s camp!” The RiverClan cat seemed relieved, which was good; but they were also breathing hard. They must’ve been in a hurry… I wonder what’s happe- wait, my name isn’t Glowpaw!
But the other cat was in too much of a rush to let her correct them. “Glowpaw, I don’t have time to explain, but you need to tell WindClan that BoneClan is attacking us, and we need their help to fight back!” The Riverclan cat- Minnowstar, it sounded like- seemed to take note of Glowsong’s starved appearance, because what she said next made fighting for RiverClan sound incredibly worthwhile. “Tell WindClan that, if they help us achieve victory, I wile give WindClan access to our prey for a time.”
As if her stomach had heard the RiverClan Leader’s offer, Glowsong’s stomach growled. “Yes, Minnowstar, I’ll tell them- just… Can you please get off me now?” A moment’s pause, then the weight vanished from her shoulders. Glowsong stood, excited and nervous at Minnowstar’s proposal. Fighting BoneClan sounds tough, but it’ll be two Clans against one… I’ll have to hear what Icegaze thinks about this.
Minnowstar turned to get back to her camp. “I’ll forgive you for trespassing just this once, just hurry, please. We’re already out of time…”
Reassured, Glowsong dashed back to WindClan territory, and Minnowstar sprinted back to the RiverClan camp.
The race against time had begun.

            • Basiltail-
“Glowsong?” Basiltail asked, poking their head out of the elders den as the young warrior raced back into the camp. “Is everything all right? You’re running like a rabbit with a dog on its scent. Whatever it is, I’d be happy to help!” they added, eyes brightening at the thought of being useful.

              • Glowsong-

Glowsong heard Basiltail just as she found her deputy, so she told him on her way across camp; “It’s an urgent message from Minnowstar,” She panted, pausing outside the medicine den. “You can gather everyone; I’m sure they wont want to miss this!” then she slipped inside to explain everything to Icegaze.

    • Catchflight woke in the den. He noticed that all the nests beside him were stale. Typical he though. He got up and stretched. He was fairly old, though his mentor held him back from a warrior for quite some time. He shrugged it off and walked out of the den.

      • Windmist-
He padded out of the shadows, ready to cause some havoc. “Minnowstar lies, I was just in RiverClan territory. They are planning on leading you into an ambush!” He said, urgently. “Why would they share food with you in a time like this? It’s every cat for themselves.”

    • Catchflight-
He poked his head inside but no one was their. He shrugged and went back to the clearing

    • Icegaze-
Icegaze dropped the prey in front of the few cats, nodding respectfully. They were very thin, and Icegaze knew the vole wasn’t much-seeing as they had to share the small piece of food.

      • Basiltail-
Basiltail settled into their nest, stretching a paw over the rim. The elder’s den seemed achingly empty, and they couldn’t help but imagine where Dapplenose’s nest could have been if he had made it to be an elder. Honestly, they would have settled for anyone who remembered the leader they had served under, or the running jokes about the elders of the time.
And now I’m one of those elders I used to make fun of, they thought, whiskers twitching with rueful amusement.

    • Fogdapple-
Fogdapple felt guilty for not bringing any prey back even though she knew it wasn’t her fault. They had found the half eaten rabbit, along with two more that were rotting. She knew it had been the Dark Forest ghosts that left them their, but it still made bile rise in her throat when she saw it. They sighed, staring at the queens and kits. All of them were pitifully thin, and some of the kits looked like they were close to death. Fogdapple sat down and closed her eyes, hoping the warm scent would comfort her like it did when she was a kit. It didn’t work. So many thoughts were swimming around their mind, and it felt like nothing could comfort her,not even the safety of her camp. The camp that may no longer be safe from hunger and death.

      • Fogdapple-
Fogdapple decided to go back out to the moor, maybe on her own she would find something. Even if she didn’t,she wanted to be out in the open. The feeling of wind in her fur made things better.

    • Havenflight-
Havenflight sat just outside the entrance to the medicine den, his head resting on his paws. He knew he should be out hunting or training with Brindlepaw, but he couldn’t bring himself to. He was in an especially bitter mood today, and the scent of herbs from the medicine den soothed him slightly. Besides, it wasn’t like he knew where Brindlepaw was- she* could be off somewhere in the moor hunting with another patrol for all he knew. He sighed, half-closing his eyes and shifting into a more comfortable position.

(*Because Brindlepaw is closeted, I used she/her pronouns here. Havenflight is unaware that Brindlepaw identifies as a tom.)

      • Icegaze-
Icegaze walked away from the elders den and spotted Havenflight laying near the medicine den. “Hello,Havenflight. Are you sick?” his tone was laced with worry. The tom looked tired, and Icegaze’s first thought was that something bad had happened. After all,not many good things had been going on.

        • Havenflight-
The gray-and-white tom lifted his head, slightly startled by the deputy’s appearance.
“I’m fine,” he mewed quickly, flicking his tail. “Just hungry. No different from anyone else.” He reluctantly sat up, shifting his paws nervously. Anxiety clawed at him from the inside- was Icegaze here to scold him for not being out on patrol? Had he done something wrong? He bit down on his tongue, not enough to make it bleed, but just enough to where the pain grounded his thoughts in the present moment.

          • Icegaze-
Icegaze calmed down a bit,”Oh,I’m glad you’re alright.” He noticed the anxiety written on Havenflight’s face and quickly spoke again. “Don’t worry,it’s fine that you’re not on patrol. I sent extras this morning,so not everyone needs to be out.”

            • Brindlepaw had given the mouse the the queens for them to share, and then went to find his mentor. Brindlepaw saw his mentor near the med den and sat down next to Havenflight, “are we doing any training today, or should I go back to hunting on my own?” Brindlepaw waited for Havenflight’s response .

            • Glowsong-

She ran for what felt like hours, the weight of RiverClan’s situation seeming to drag her down and slow her pace.
They could be fighting already- maybe BoneClan has already won! I can’t afford to be slow! Setting her jaw, Glowsong pushed her hunger aside and put on an extra burst of speed.
Moments passed, then the WindClan camp slowly came into view. Struggling to slow down, Glowsong careened through the entrance. Her breathing was unsteady, and her eyes wide; she had pushed herself to her limit, but her task was not yet complete. Frantically, she searched for Icegaze. She checked the leader’s den, the warrior’s den, and even the nursery until she finally found him in the medicine den with Brindlepaw and Havenflight.
“Icegaze!” She panted, struggling to catch her breath. “Icegaze, BoneClan is- there attacking RiverClan!” She blurted, interrupting their conversation. “Minnowstar told me they’d allow us to hunt on their territory if we help them fight; what do we do?”

              • Icegaze-
Icegaze stared at Glowsong, fear making his breathing pick up. After a long pause he gave an answer. “We’ll stand with them.” he said quietly, padding out of the den. He didn’t know where (insert WindClan leader’s name) was,but it would take to long to fine them. Legs shacking slightly,he called out the familiar words to start a clan meeting. “Let all cats old enough to catch their own prey gather for a clan meeting!”

He watched as cats sat down in front of him and Glowsong. The tom took a deep breath and started speaking. “Glowsong has informed me that BoneClan is attacking RverClan. Minnowstar asked if we would help them fight in exchange for hunting rights of their territory. We must accept this offer, not only for the prey, but for our fellow clan. It’s time we rise again and take back our land.”

                • Glowsong-

Glowsong’s fur bristled with nervous excitement. Her first day as a warrior was turning out to be quite eventful; now it looked like she’d see her first battle before the sun rose again. It was a lot to take in, with two Clans depending on her to fight, but the hunger in her belly faded as she realized that she could do it.
She had her clanmates by her side, after all. She could do anything with them on her side!

                • Basiltail-
“Can I come with?” Basiltail asked hopefully, although they knew the chances were slim. The only reason they had become an elder in the first place was that they just couldn’t move as fast as the younger cats anymore, and hadn’t wanted to make their fellow warriors feel burdened.
But Riverclan needed all the support they could get, if Boneclan was coming for them, and Basiltail wasn’t about to be left in camp without some protest.

                • Glowsong-

Glowsong looked expectantly at Icegaze, waiting for the deputy to answer. “It couldn’t hurt to bring Basiltail along; they’ve been dying to help WindClan for moons! Besides, they seem like a capable warrior,” She whispered to Icegaze. “We could really use their help.”

                • Icegaze-
“Yes,you can come. We’ll need anyone who is willing to fight-” he was cut off the lithe cat that appeared from the shadows. His fur bristled, and he bared his teeth. “Why should we believe you?” he growled. Yet the tom glanced at Glowsong, question in his eyes.

                  Fogdapple-
Fogdapple cocked her head, listening to Windmist. She watched as Icegaze questioned him, looking like he was going to attack at any moment. He was far too battle-driven,in her opinion, most cats were. She carefully responded to the Dark Forest cat,not wanting to get hurt.

“RiverClan has more prey than the other Clans, and if they are in true danger, they may be willing to do something as drastic as give up food.”

                • Glowsong-

Glowsong glanced warily at her deputy, wondering why he was even listening to the fallen cat. “Well… I don’t see why Minnowstar would want to ambush us. She hasn’t shown any ill intent to any Clan except for BoneClan, which the Dark Forest is allied with…” She suddenly shifted her gaze to the ghost, a challenge in her eyes. “Wait… You’re just trying to stall us, aren’t you?”

                • Basiltail-
“I think I trust Minnowstar far more than I trust a Dark Forest cat,” Basiltail agreed, eyes narrowed in suspicion. “We need to go help Riverclan before it’s too late!”

                • Icegaze-
Icegaze glared at the tom once more before responding to Glowsong. “You’re right.” he muttered before calling out to the rest of the clan,”I will be sending a patrol to help RiverClan. This will include Fogdapple,Basiltail,Glowsong,Steelclaw,Catchflight, Havenflight,Brindlepaw,Sandcloud, and I. We are leaving now,as this Dark Forest cat isn’t trustable.” He started walking to the camp entrance, flicking his tail for his clanmates to follow.

                • (Ah, shoot, I’m a goose- I forgot to check this page aaaaaaaaaa)
                  Havenflight-
He blinked gratefully at Icegaze, and as he opened his mouth to answer Brindlepaw, he was cut off by the arrival of the others.
“A battle?” They swallowed the lump in their throat. This was exactly what he had been dreading- he hated violence, hated BoneClan, hated all of it. Rising shakily to their paws, they gave Brindlepaw a glance.
“Stick by me, please- I don’t want you getting hurt. It isn’t that I don’t think you’re capable of fighting on your own, it’s just that… Well, BoneClan doesn’t fight like the rest of us.” He hoped that she understood.

                • Glowsong-

Glowsong followed Icegaze out the camp entrance, Steelclaw and Sandcloud close behind. She glanced at the rest of the patrol, the weight of the coming battle beginning to set in. No turning back now; you started this. It’s time to finish it.

                • Windmist-
He glared at the cats backs as they ran away and sighed, so much for that plan, he thought.

                • (Yeah, I hadn’t realized we had switched to this tab so I couldn’t get any fun banter going)

    • Windmist padded silently through the moor, wind ruffled his fur. He relished in the sensation. Since the shattering, he had come back and planned to enjoy every aspect of life now that he knew how fleeting it was. He didn’t care if the Clans lived or died, he was free to do as he pleased. Something he couldn’t do before. His strides lengthened as he scented a rabbit. More than he could eat for himself. He could always leave the leftovers for the WindClan cats, he mused. StarClan knows they could use it. They were scrawnier than usual. Who knows, maybe they would stoop low enough to eat roadkill. He focused on the rabbit and took off, leaping at the last second and leaving a killing blow. He ate until he was full and there was plenty of rabbit left. He dropped its remains on the top of the ridge, just in scenting range of a hunting patrol, and carried on his way.

    • Icegaze-
Icegaze and Fogdapple had been roaming the moor for a while with no signs of prey. They approached the ridge,a bit despondent. Fogdapple’s nose twitched. “I smell prey, but it’s not right.” she muttered. He got closer to the ridge and realized when it was. A half eaten rabbit lay in front of them. Icegaze growled. He couldn’t take crowfood back to camp. They were warriors,fresh-kill was what they needed, not prey left to rot. He sighed, maybe we should try along the ThunderClan border, there may be something. he suggested. His sister was staring at the rabbit, their eyes dark. He touched his tail to her side to get her attention and she snapped her head around to look at him. “I said, maybe we should try the Thunderclan border.” he stated,a bit annoyed. They nodded and started walking. Icegaze sighed again, would they ever find enough prey?

      Fogdapple-
Fogdapple stared at the half-eaten rabbit, thinking. WindClan was desperate, but were they desperate enough to eat something other than fresh-kill? She didn’t think so,but…there was still some untouched parts of meat on it,maybe they could eat that? Icegaze’s tail touched her side, and she was pulled out of her thoughts. They hadn’t heard him talking the first time, and they could tell he was annoyed. “I said, maybe we should try the ThundClan border.” she nodded, but she still thought that the rabbit was valuable food, even if it was practically crow-food.

      • Windmist-
Windmist sat a good distance away, chuckling when the two siblings found the body. “Ah…yes. It is good to be back.”

        • Lynxshard-
Lynxshard padded up behind the Dark Forest cat. “Windmist,” she said, dipping her head. She kept her expression carefully blank, her pale green eyes darting over the treeless moor.

          • Windmist glanced at Lynxshard. The she-cat was too soft for his taste but they were united in the fact that they were neutral on whether or not BoneClan took over. “Lynxshard,” he greeted. “What have you been up to and to what do I owe this honor that is your presence?” he asked, keeping his tone light and bored, not wanting to betray his surprise that she had come to the moor willingly.

            • Lynxshard-
“I was just looking around,” Lynxshard replied, whisking her tail. “I’m going to RiverClan territory to see how they’re doing. It would be surprising if the Dark Forest managed to fish every fish from the lake, but then again, their methods are… rather effective.” A gust of wind ruffled her fur and she shivered. “How can you cats stand it out here?” she asked, glancing at Windmist.

              • Windmist
“The wind makes us come alive. Moor-cats are the fastest because the wind is on our side. We become one and the same. The cold and discomfort is forgotten the moment you make your first chase. I don’t know how cats stand it in the forest, trapped and unable to see the sky. Or by the river, wet and cold with the water bogging you down.” He answered with a purr of amusement.

                • Fogdapple-
Fogdapple raced across the moor, relishing in the gusts of air pushing at her flanks. She was fast on her own,but the wind gave her strength and speed. They came to a halt behind two cats talking. They caught the words of the thinner cat,one that looked strangely familiar. She raked her gaze over the two, trying to place them. They decided to talk to them, she would know if they were Dark Forest cats once she did.

“It’s true. I wouldn’t be able to stand it if I was stuck under trees all the time. The moors are harsh, but it’s our home, and we learn to adapt.” They sat next to the tom, feeling again that she knew him. “Now,would you like to tell me who you are,or-” they stopped talking abruptly, finally remembering the cat’s name. “W-Windmist?”

                • Lynxshard-
                  Oh no.
                  A WindClan cat.
Lynxshard jumped to her feet. Great StarClan, how didn’t I smell her coming?
“What?” she hissed, dropping into a defensive stance. The she-cat was thin, so Lynxshard could probably defeat her if she needed to…
No. Let’s see how Windmist and this WindClan cat react first, and act accordingly.

                • Windmist froze, glancing at the she-cat next to him, confusion darkening his gaze before a moment of recognition flashed across his face. “Fogdapple? You were just an apprentice when I was alive. To what do you owe the gift of my presence?” He questioned.

                • Fogdapple-
“I’d like to know what you and your friend are doing here. I’m sure you went to the Dark Forest,so are you trying to destroy us as well?” Fogdapple’s claws slid out,but she knew she couldn’t fight them and win. They were willing to die if it would help their clan, and WindClan needed all the help it could get.

                • Lynxshard-

Lynxshard scanned the two cats’ faces. She wasn’t interested in hurting Fogdapple* or her Clan, but if she attacked…
Keep yourself under control. Don’t use killing moves. Watch what Windmist does.

*Is it Fogdapple, Fogstorm, or Fogwing, and is it she/her or they/their?

                • (It’s Fogdapple, and they use both she/her and they/them. But you can choose one or the other,if you want.)

                • Windmist-
He let out a soft chuckle, “You know you can’t hurt us and I can’t speak for Lynxshard but I could care less about the fate of the Clan’s. You are prepared to die and you probably don’t even truly know what you are fighting for.” He glanced over at Lynxshard, she seemed to be taking cues from him and he wondered why.

                • Fogdapple-
Fogdapple sighed. They wanted the cats off WindClan territory, but it wasn’t worth trying to attack an enemy that wasn’t able to be hurt. “Just…don’t let anyone else see you. I don’t care if your on our territory, but the others will.” It was true. Even if they were ghosts, the cats weren’t harming anything. She never saw the point in hating someone just because they were from another clan or an outsider. Fogdapple guessed their ideals applied to dead cats as well.

                • Windmist-
“WindClan was always too softhearted for my taste.” He gave the she-cat a scathing look.

                • Fogdapple-
Fogdapple glared right back at the tom,”I don’t care if your in the Place of No Stars or not, there’s no point in trying to kill someone just because they’re different than you.”

                • Lynxshard-
Lynxshard straightened, pleasantly surprised that the situation had de-escalated so quickly. “Thanks, but I should probably get going anyway,” she said, dipping her head to Windmist and Fogdapple. “It was nice talking to you.” Turning, she ran off toward the RiverClan border.
Oh, Windmist was right about not speaking for me about that “not caring about the Clans” thing. Unlike him, I do care- for the survival of the four original Clans, not BoneClan. But what can I do about it? Nothing.

                • Fogdapple-
Fogdapple nodded as the she-cat bounded away. They nodded to Windmist as well, figuring it would be bad to disrespect a dead cat. With that, she started walking back towards camp. They had been away for a while, and hunger clawed at their belly. She realized that she hadn’t eaten anything that day. Even so,she would make sure the elders and queens had been fed first.

                • Windmist-
He barely nodded to the she-cat before leisurely setting off at his own pace to RiverClan’s border. He might as well stick with the only other dead cat he’d found.

                • *Oh, whoops, sorry! Please ignore that last one, I posted it before your comments got modded. The situation is far from “de-escalated…*

    • Lynxshard-
Lynxshard raced off across the moor. She really didn’t like the open-ness of the land here, the way there were no trees to climb or shadows to hide in. I wonder how WindClan cats can stand it here.
She wanted to go see how the other Clans were doing- RiverClan in particular. The Dark Forest cats couldn’t have hunted all of the fish from the streams, surely?

    • Basiltail- (open for interaction!)
Basiltail stalked across the moor, enjoying the ripple of wind through their fur. They knew times were dark, but if they were being completely honest, they were happier than they had been in a while. With food so hard to find, Basiltail had an excuse to hunt instead of sitting in the elders den. They sniffed the air, grinning as they scented a mouse.
I’m probably getting a bit old for chasing rabbits anyway, they thought ruefully, slowly creeping forwards. They lunged, catching the mouse by surprise and finishing it off quickly.

      • Fogdapple-
On their way back to camp,Fogdapple came across Basiltail carrying a mouse. The she-cat smiled slightly as she approached them. “Even as an elder, you’re never resting. I’m glad you found some prey, though,we need all we can get.” She sat down and sighed.
“I’m glad you’re still enjoying things like this,I certainly wish I could. But there’s so much going on,and it seems like none of it is good.”

        • Basiltail-
“I’m just glad to be useful!” Basiltail admitted around the warm fur of their prey, unable to suppress their triumph over their catch. They blinked at Fogdapple, trying to think of something inspiring to say. That’s what elders were supposed to do, weren’t they? “Well,” they began, “I know things look bad, but its not the first time the clans have been in trouble. I’m sure it won’t be the last.”

          • Fogdapple-
Fogdapple smiled again,”I suppose. It just seems like this struggle has lasted longer than the others. But we’ll eventually get through it,we always do.” She didn’t fully believe that, but it was better than no hope at all.

            • Basiltail-
“That’s the spirit!” they purred encouragingly, nodding. “I’m going to go see if anyone back at camp wants this mouse,” Basiltail added cheerfully, nodding towards the camp entrance.
Basiltail suspected everyone was hungry enough to eat, but they also suspected there would be the usual struggle of other cats trying to convince them to eat the mouse themself, even thought they were eating better than most cats. Basiltail knew the warrior code, but they now that they were an elder they wished that a certain section of it didn’t exist.
Might as well change my name back to Basilkit and make it official, Basiltail thought, glancing wistfully out at the moor. Maybe I’ll come back and hunt more later.

              • Fogdapple-
“I’m coming back to camp as well.” she said, breathing in the cold wind once more. “I understand making sure the elders and queens have enough food, but we’ve been practically forcing prey down your throats.” she laughed slightly,in a better mood than before.

                • Basiltail-
“Yes, exactly!” Basiltail exclaimed, nodding. “I’ve hardly noticed that there’s a food shortage, while everyone else is turning to skin and bones. It’s kind of ridiculous.”

                • Fogdapple-
Fogdapple smiled,”If you don’t mind,I’d like to take that the the nursery.”

                • Basiltail-
“Of course!” Basiltail purred, cheered to know someone else shared their views. “I think I’ll go take a nap, see you around!” They placed the mouse at Fogdapple’s paws, then padded towards the elders den.

                • Fogdapple-
Fogdapple dipped her head to the tom, watching him walk away. He was a good friend, and always managed to give her some hope. They padded into the nursery to give them the mouse, but discovered the queens and kits had already been fed. She left the mouse with them anyways, wanting to make sure they didn’t stop producing milk. Maybe Basiltail was right, maybe the Clans would get through this.

                • (Ack,sorry for using he/him for Basiltail! I thought of them as a tom for some reason.)

    • Brindlepaw went out of camp, at this point, he didn’t care that he was breaking the rules. He scented a field mouse and ran down wind from it. He was going at a jog and once he neared it, he slammed his paw on the mouse. He had smooshed it a little, but nobody would care at this point. Brindlepaw buried it and tried to hunt more, but he was pretty weak now and couldn’t get anything more. He went back to camp with his mouse.

    • Nightsoar ran along the hills, wincing at a slight crack in his bones. He wasn’t as young as he used to be; and right now, the younger warriors of the clan seemed useless in catching prey. He huffed to himself and neared the Thunderclan border.

A tabby apprentice was walking with a patrol, looking around her every now and then. Nightsoar paused. There was something familiar about the way the apprentice moved, not to mention her oddly slight build for a Thunderclan cat. She turned her head as if noticing him for the first time.

Her eyes were exactly like Parsleydust’s, there was no doubt in that. Nightsoar turned and headed back to camp. Anger bubbled in his chest.
