Sliverthorn argues why Ashfur would’ve been better for Squirrelflight than Brambleclaw.
Sunshadow’s pelt spiked as Thunderstar padded angrily towards her. “Thunderstar! I-I can explain!” Sunshadow said. Mapleshade growled.”Don’t talk, kill him now!” She sprung at Thunderstar. 𝘞𝘩𝘢𝘵’𝘴 𝘨𝘰𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘰𝘯? 𝘐 𝘵𝘩𝘰𝘶𝘨𝘩 𝘔𝘢𝘱𝘭𝘦𝘴𝘩𝘢𝘥𝘦 𝘸𝘢𝘯𝘵𝘦𝘥 𝘵𝘰 𝘩𝘦𝘭𝘱 𝘮𝘦. Sunshadow watched helplessly, not knowing which side to take as Mapleshade bowled him over, and Thunderstar defended himself, trying to knock her off, but Mapleshade was far too heavy for him so he got winded. Mapleshade cuffed him behind the ear, then stepped back. “Go ahead and finish the kill,” she growled. Sunshadow froze. 𝘐-𝘐 𝘥𝘰𝘯’𝘵 𝘸𝘢𝘯𝘵 𝘵𝘰 𝘩𝘶𝘳𝘵 𝘢𝘯𝘺 𝘤𝘢𝘵𝘴! 𝘉𝘶𝘵 𝘐 𝘸𝘢𝘯𝘵 𝘵𝘰 𝘢𝘷𝘦𝘯𝘨𝘦 𝘮𝘺 𝘮𝘰𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘳… Seeing Sunshadow’s doubt, Mapleshade pushed her forward. “if you want to prove your loyalty to the Dark Forest, this is the time.” Mapleshade hissed quietly to her. “Remember, he didn’t do anything about your mother…” Sunshadow was indecisive for a moment, with Storm eagerly looking on. She took a step towards Thunderstar, then shook her head. “I-I can’t.”
Sunshadow blinked in surprise. “I-I don’t want to hurt anyone! I thought training was for the good of the Clan!” 𝘋𝘰𝘦𝘴 𝘦𝘷𝘦𝘳𝘺 𝘤𝘢𝘵 𝘵𝘩𝘪𝘯𝘬 𝘵𝘩𝘢𝘵 𝘐 𝘸𝘢𝘯𝘵 𝘵𝘰 𝘣𝘦𝘵𝘳𝘢𝘺 𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘮? Mapleshade padded up to Sunshadow. “Did you really use me?” Sunshadow asked in disbelief. Mapleshade snorted. “Why should YOU care if you were being used. You’re a stronger warrior, and that’s what matters.” Sunshadow recalled when she first went here as an apprentice. 𝘔𝘢𝘱𝘭𝘦𝘴𝘩𝘢𝘥𝘦 𝘴𝘦𝘦𝘮𝘦𝘥 𝘴𝘰 𝘬𝘪𝘯𝘥 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘭𝘰𝘺𝘢𝘭 𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘯, 𝘣𝘶𝘵 𝘯𝘰𝘸 𝘴𝘩𝘦’𝘴 𝘴𝘩𝘰𝘸𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘩𝘦𝘳 𝘵𝘳𝘶𝘦 𝘤𝘰𝘭𝘰𝘳𝘴.
Storm padded over to Sunshadow and hissed “Coward!” She said, “You don’t deserve to train here!” With that, she scratched him across the nose and padded back to where she had been standing before, she would have gladly helped Sunshadow kill Thunderstar, but, it had not been her test. She turned to Hawkfrost, “What will we do with the traitor?” She asked. “She will either be loyal and kill or never come back here, ever.” He replied, “And believe me she will wish she was loyal.” He narrowed his eyes, “Your loyal, right Storm?
Swiftfoot stood by Thunderstar’s side. “We should ask Sunshadow what he was thinking. Don’t bite his head off just yet, love.” Thunderstar rolled his eyes, but twined his tail with Swiftfoot’s. “I need to talk to you,” she whispered.
(by the way, Sunshadow is female, so i don’t know why everyone’s calling her a he)
Thunderblaze stood up and walked over to Mapleshade. “I knew it was you!” He growled. He looked at the cats around. “Mapleshade used to be my mentor when I thought this wasn’t the Dark Forest. I think it’s time you get what you deserve!” He sprang on the she-cat, bowling her over. He kicked her stomach with his hindlegs, and clawed her muzzle.
Fear swept Sunshadow off her paws as she watched the battle. 𝘈𝘵 𝘭𝘦𝘢𝘴𝘵 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘮𝘦𝘥𝘪𝘤𝘪𝘯𝘦 𝘤𝘢𝘵𝘴 𝘸𝘰𝘯’𝘵 𝘣𝘦 𝘩𝘶𝘳𝘵..
Mapleshade broke away from Thunderstar, shaking her messy pelt.As if Mapleshade read her mind, she smirked. “We can’t hurt them…but we can capture them.” She turned to Hawkfrost. “Let’s destroy these weak kittypets.” “Gladly,” Hawkfrost purred, and all three of the dark forest cats, including Storm, attacked. Storm veered towards Fernpaw, and Sunshadow, being next to her, intercepted Storm’s attack. Turning to Fernpaw, Sunshadow whispered, “Get Ravenwing and get out of here! Me,Thunderstar, and Swiftfoot can handle this…I hope.” Fernpaw’s normally calm eyes were stretched wide in fear.
Thunderstar jumped in front of Sunshadow. “Haven’t you done enough damage already?” He snarled “But, I need you to guard my back!” Thunderstar, Swiftfoot, and Sunshadow turned tail to tail in a defensive formation. Hawkwing lunged at him, and Thunderstar gave him a kick that sent Hawking sprawling.
Sunshadow felt a bit discomfited after Thunderstar snapped at her, although she felt like she deserved it. Swiftfoot didn’t say anything, although Sunshadow felt her disapproval like the stab of a thorn. 𝘐 𝘴𝘩𝘰𝘶𝘭𝘥𝘯’𝘵 𝘩𝘢𝘷𝘦 𝘭𝘪𝘴𝘵𝘦𝘯𝘦𝘥 𝘵𝘰 𝘔𝘢𝘱𝘭𝘦𝘴𝘩𝘢𝘥𝘦. 𝘕𝘰𝘸 𝘮𝘺 𝘭𝘦𝘢𝘥𝘦𝘳’𝘴 𝘥𝘪𝘴𝘢𝘱𝘱𝘰𝘪𝘯𝘵𝘦𝘥 𝘪𝘯 𝘮𝘦, 𝘮y 𝘧𝘳𝘪𝘦𝘯𝘥 𝘱𝘳𝘰𝘣𝘢𝘣𝘭𝘺 𝘩𝘢𝘵𝘦𝘴 𝘮𝘦, 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘐’𝘮 𝘨𝘰𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘵𝘰 𝘨𝘦𝘵 𝘦𝘹𝘪𝘭𝘦𝘥 𝘧𝘳𝘰𝘮 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘊𝘭𝘢𝘯! She decided not to dwell on that and focus on defending herself and her clanmates. Mapleshade lunged at her and Sunshadow retaliated by clawing her forehead and bowling her over. They tussled for a while, and Sunshadow sensed Swiftfoot at her side, slicing Storm’s muzzle and making her unbalanced.
“Retreat!” He called. “We need to get out of here!” He ran through the forest, his paws pounding on the floor. He felt Swiftfoot next to him, and they shared a glance. Sunshadow was running too. They burst through the forest, and into the camp. They collapsed, panting. He gave a comforting lick to Swiftfoot.
Fernpaw crouched down as the others pelted out of the Dark Forest. Not knowing where to go, she backed off, bumping into Storm. Storm grinned maliciously, “Looks like the pretty kitty got lost.” Widening her eyes, Fernpaw pressed herself to the ground in fear. “Thunderstar! Swiftfoot! Help! Ravenwing!” Storm grinned wider then before, “They abandoned you, kitty. It is just you and me.” She unsheathed her claws.
Unsheathing her claws for the first time, she mewed tentatively, “You-You can’t hurt me! I-I-I… I’m a medicine cat! StarClan will protect me!” Storm shook her head, “StarClan can’t reach you here, you dumb kit.” Fernpaw froze, uncertain. ~back at camp~ “Wait. Where is Fernpaw?” Ravenwing asked. “I thought she was behind me!” Thunderstar exclaimed. Ravenwing narrowed her eyes, “She is a medicine cat! She is not trained to run fast and you know it!” “It’s okay! I will go find her!” Thunderstar hissed. Ravenwing growled and turned her back on Thunderstar.
Thunderstar pelted back into the forest and found himself in the clearing. His heart sank. Fernpaw was cornered by Storm, and he leaped and bowled over Storm, cuffing her ears, claws unsheathed. “Run!” He growled at Fernpaw, and she nodded obediently, and ran. Thunderstar followed.
Sunshadow waited in the leader’s den, heart pounding. 𝘛𝘩𝘪𝘴 𝘪𝘴 𝘪𝘵. 𝘐’𝘮 𝘮𝘰𝘶𝘴𝘦 𝘥𝘶𝘯𝘨. She knew that she fought off the Dark Forest cats, but Thunderstar would still decide if she was staying in the clan. 𝘞𝘩𝘺 𝘥𝘪𝘥𝘯’𝘵 𝘐 𝘴𝘢𝘷𝘦 𝘍𝘦𝘳𝘯𝘱𝘢𝘸? 𝘛𝘩𝘶𝘯𝘥𝘦𝘳𝘴𝘵𝘢𝘳 𝘳𝘦𝘢𝘤𝘩𝘦𝘥 𝘩𝘦𝘳 𝘫𝘶𝘴𝘵 𝘪𝘯 𝘵𝘪𝘮𝘦. 𝘐 𝘤𝘰𝘶𝘭𝘥 𝘩𝘢𝘷𝘦 𝘨𝘰𝘯𝘦 𝘸𝘪𝘵𝘩 𝘩𝘪𝘮. Speaking of Fernpaw, she was currently sitting next to Ravenwing, sorting out herbs in the medicine den. Sunshadow’s heart ached with regret. Who knows if her clanmates would trust her again? Leaves rustled as Thunderstar and Swiftfoot padded into the den, with the medicine cats not far behind. Sunshadow’s pads were clammy with sweat. 𝘛𝘩𝘶𝘯𝘥𝘦𝘳𝘴𝘵𝘢𝘳’𝘴 𝘩𝘦𝘳𝘦 𝘵𝘰 𝘥𝘦𝘭𝘪𝘷𝘦𝘳 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘷𝘦𝘳𝘥𝘪𝘤𝘵. She looked at her clanmates, eyes blurring with tears.
