Sliverthorn argues why Ashfur would’ve been better for Squirrelflight than Brambleclaw.
Fernpaw padded out to the clearing with Ravenwing beside her. Ravenwing licked her fondly. Fernpaw nuzzled her and looked at Sunshadow. Sunshadow winced as she met her gaze. Fernpaw looked at Thunderstar and Swiftfoot, both of them looking stern and solemn. Thunderstar began to speak. (I won’t decide on what Thunderstar says)
Storm watched Fernpaw run away and knew the the little she-cat wouldn’t forget her in a hurry, and plus, when the Dark Forest had rogue allies as well as ones in the clans, she would get her vengeance on the apprentice as well as Sunshadow, they were all nothing but kittypet, she sneered, “That was fun,” she told Hawkfrost, “I wish they had stayed longer, though.” Hawkfrost let out a purr, “Don’t worry, next time they won’t have anywhere to run to!” he grinned maliciously, “Next time, they will be in real trouble.” And with that, he stalked into the dark trees with Storm trailing right behind him.
(Sorry if i’m being really evil, i’m just trying to go with the flo and be my character.)
Thunderstar sat down. “Tell me honestly,” He said softly. “Were you spying in the Dark Forest?”
Sunshadow shook her head slightly. “No,” she said. “I first ended up there when I was an apprentice, and at first I was happy. I thought that the Dark Forest cats were misunderstood. I didn’t realize that the reason Mapleshade kept her backstory a secret was because she killed cats.” Sunshadow looked at her paws. “Then after Brightcloud(Sunshadow’s mother) died from the avalanche, I heard you in your den saying that you had an omen about the whole thing, and it broke me. I thought that…” Sunshadow broke off, then glanced at Fernpaw, who gave her a reassuring nod to go on. “I thought that if you told everyone sooner, then we could’ve prevented it. Mapleshade knew about it, and she told me that it was your fault that Brightcloud died.” Hot tears were streaming down her face. She choked out, “And I believed her.” She took a deep breath, trying to keep her composure. “I-I should have known that she was using me.”
Thunderstar was silent. “Okay, I need to discuss this with Swiftfoot. We will tell you when we reach a answer.” Sunshadow padded out of the den. “What should we do?” Thunderstar asked Swiftfoot.
Fernpaw looked at her paws as Sunshadow mentioned Brightcloud. At that time, she had just started being an apprentice and had no idea that a ‘bright cloud becoming a dark cloud’ in a dream was an omen. She could feel gazes burning in to her, it was common knowledge that she had the dream. Fernpaw couldn’t help feeling defiant that they were blaming her for Sunshadow going to the Dark Forest. Sunshadow was really popular as a warrior and Fernpaw was just known as the “kit with silly and stupid dreams.” Fernpaw glared at her paws and looked up at Sunshadow. She looked at her apologetically and shrugged.
Sunshadow looked at her paws. “I don’t think it’s your fault,” she murmured quietly. “I was young and stupid. I didn’t expect you to know what the dream meant.” She gazed at Fernpaw. “If I end up exiled from the Clan, I want you to know that I don’t blame you for what happened, and all this is my own stupid fault.” She looked away for a brief moment. “I should have never listened to Mapleshade.” Her claws unsheathed and dug into the ground.
Crowlight tucked her kits in closer to her belly. Something prickled at the back of her mind. “These kits were born way too early.” She shoved that thought away. “Oh beautiful kits, everything will be alright.”
Fernpaw flicked her ear gratefully as Thunderstar strode out of his den. She leaned forward, praying that Sunshadow could stay. He stood in front of the eager crowd and glanced at Sunshadow who was pressing herself into the ground, as if hoping she could be stuck there. Thunderstar spoke, “Sunshadow can stay”. As soon as he said that, one of Crowlight’s kits began wailing. Ravenwing ran over to the nursery, with Fernpaw and nursing queens right on her tail. They burst into the nursery.
“I guess we can let her stay, but she is in big trouble!” He sighed. “Sunshadow, you can stay. BUT NEVER GO IN THE DARK FOREST WITHOUT PERMISSION! Now, we need to train and prepare in case the Dark Forest comes back.”
“Thank you!” Sunshadow meowed happily. “I promise I won’t let you down.” She straightened her spine.
Swiftfoot glanced at Thunderstar. “I need to talk to you,” she said firmly.
Ravenwing looked at Crowlight and flicked her tail at Fernpaw, “Get Thunderstar.” Fernpaw nodded and ran off into Thunderstar’s den and saw Swiftfoot and Thunderstar talking in hushed voices. “Thunderstar!” Swiftfoot mewed and nodded in Fernpaw’s direction.
“Thunderstar! Hurry up, I NEED TO TALK TO YOU.”
“Yes Swiftfoot!” He called, and padded over to her, flicking her shoulder with his tail.
“Thunderstar,” Swiftfoot began slowly, “I’m expecting kits.”
Thunderstar stood still. “That. That’s great! I assume I’m the father?”
“Of course, mouse brain!” Swiftfoot purred and twined her tail with his. “They’re due in a moon.”
