It’s a 1950s novel about a group of British school boys who get stranded on a desert island, and follows them as they begin to loose the sense of civilisation they had. By the end of the book, it is absolute chaos.
It can also be seen as an allegory for the ‘true nature’ of man.
the message is so depressing akskjd I don’t really agree with the majority of it
I think our English teacher is corrupting me… I’m actually starting to like it 😳
Also the way I see it, his message is not necessarily depressing; it’s how he as a person views humanity, and what we as people have the potential to become. It doesn’t have to mean that everyone is like Jack and Roger, more that in the right circumstances, we could be.
