A conversation between my music teacher, and a boy in my class, Hollowpaw, today:

my music teacher rn plays like 30 instruments, plays in the [insert city name here] symphony, has a husband who is also a band teacher, has been teaching for almost 30 years, has been in and judged drum core (which is really advanced percussion competition stuff), and has two or three kids who all play more than one musical instrument. My band teacher from middle school isn’t quite as qualified (but to be fair he’s barely over half her age anyway), but he’s a composer and has released quite a few albums, has been playing piano since he was like 3, can seriously recognize any instrument in the entire band (which is around 100 people at most and 70 at least) while the entire band is playing and can tell what they’re doing wrong and who is the individual person doing it wrong is (which is really difficult), and while he doesn’t actively play all these instruments has played every instrument in the band and then some and knows how they work
there’s a huge contrast here 😛
