This is a story from Willowbreeze (Crookedtsar’s mate and Silverstream’s mother’s) POV
Willowbreeze looked at her daughter, alarm in her eyes as she saw the slender silver tabby she-cat race towards the grey tom. Knowing her daughter was going to help the tom, she would have liked nothing better than to leap into the water, rescue the tom herself and take Silverstream back to camp. She knew what this looked like and if Silverstream paid no attention to this tom it would be far better for every-cat. Her own mother, Fallowtail, had been in a forbidden relationship with the WindClan deputy, Reedfeather which had caused a lot of drama, not only for her and her littermate, Graypool but for both WindClan and Riverclan.
Glancing back at the pool which showed her the living clans, she gasped as she realized the gray tom’s weight was hauling him and Silverstream inside the water. Finally,Silverstream’s silver striped tabby head poked out. Bravely, Silverstream swam against the current, dragging the tom with her. Firmly, the silver striped tabby grabbed the ice, holding the grey tom between her teeth, and hauling herself out of the river.
“Graystripe!” one of the ThunderClan cats meowed as he helped Sivlerstream haul the gray tom onto the ice. He was an orange tabby with piercing green eyes.
“I’m okay!” the gray tom rasped weakly.
The orange tabby looked at her curiously. Silverstream returned his gaze coldly, then shook herself, sitting down.
“Thanks.” mumbled Graystripe, looking sheepish as Silverstream hauled him out of the water.
“You idiot! What are you doing on my territory?” growled Silverstream challengingly as she flattened her ears. Willowbreeze felt a rush of pride as she looked at the strong she-cat, waiting for gray tom’s response.
“Ummm….drowning?” Graystripe suggested purring a little.
“Can’t you drown yourself in your own territory?” retorted Silverstream, her eyes holding a glimmer of amusement. Stiffening, Willowbreeze as she waited for his reply.
“Ah, but who would rescue me there?” the tom asked, his eyes glimmering with a strong emotion Willowbreeze knew very well, love.
A tiny gray she-cat, probably an apprentice, meowed something to the ginger tom but WIllowbreeze ignored her, looking cautiously at her daughter and the gray tom.
“Look, Graystripe, we’ve got to get out of here.” meowed the orange tom urgently.
“I know,” Graystirpe meowed, hauling himself to his paws, then looking at Silverstream “Thanks again.”
Silverstream dipped her head graciously but then growled “Hurry, go now!” If my father knew I’d rescued a ThunderClan intruder he’d shred me for kit bedding!”
“Oh Silverstream, don’t do this, please!” she meowed, feeling heartbroken as she watched her daughter do the first of the many acts that would lead to her betraying her clan.
“Willowbreeze, have faith in Silverstream,” a firm, kind voice meowed.
“Sunfish, what would Crookedstar do if something happened to Silverstream. He’s already been through so much!”
“Crookedstar is strong, WIllowbreeze,” the pale gray cat meowed, her amber eyes earnestly. “So is Silverstream. Trust your daughter to make the choices that are truest to her heart.”
