Shrubpaw’s Contests (*^▽^*) Round 1
First round is a short story contest, and the prompt is:
Lionpaw's and Heatherpaw's LARPing

I always found Lionpaw’s and Heatherpaw’s relationship with each other super cute in Dark River, and at the peak of Lionpaw’s character! But we never got to see much of their roleplaying. So I thought why not make some up? This is where you come in; make up a creative story about their roleplaying!
REQUIREMENTS:
– The minimum word count is 50 words, and the max is 800 (around the same you can make in a single BlogClan comment!)
– Must revolve around the prompt in some way, but be as creative as you want!

STORY:
Heatherpaw ducked out of the apprentices’ den, curling her tail as she kept her pawsteps light and quick. The Windclan camp was silent and the sleeping forms of warriors were scattered across the clearing. Heatherpaw trotted over to the edge of the camp, a wall of bramble blocking her, but she knew a way out. She had stumbled across it as a kit, and now that she was meeting Lionpaw, she always used it. Pulling out thorny roots to reveal a small tunnel leading out of camp. Her light tan fur bristled as she heard pebbles being kicked and pawsteps and she pressed herself into the shadows of the spiked barrier. Nightcloud was guarding the camp tonight and padded past the hidden tunnel and Heatherpaw held her breath. Luckily Nightcloud kept moving, not noticing the small shecat. As the black warrior went by Heatherpaw crawled through the tunnel and dashed across the heather, to the caves where Lionpaw was waiting. She skidded to a stop in the dusty clearing of the meeting spot but the golden tom wasn’t in sight. She sniffed around, worried, had Lionpaw forgotten her? Suddenly a flash of golden fur barreled into her and she was on her back, Lionpaw pinning her with a look of triumph. “Gotcha!” He exclaimed, letting her up and Heatherpaw batted at his ears “Only because I wasn’t looking” She huffed lightheartedly. The two apprentices talked into the night, laughing and gossiping and playing Darkclan. Finally, when the pale dawn sky shone through the sky hole Heatherpaw had murmured a farewell, nuzzling Lionpaw. Looking back at Lionpaw with a resigned gaze. “See you next moon” he muttered as he dipped his head and began to walk away. Heatherpaw sighed, next moon it is, she thought as she climbed out of the tunnels and trotted toward Windclan camp, loneliness tumbling in her stomach. As she clambered out of the hole into her camp she glanced up to see an overbearing figure and barely stifled a yelp of surprise. Her father Onestar was glaring down at her and she felt her pelt shrink. “Where have you been?” He snarled.

It’s okay! I may extend the due date since I’ve only received one entry so far 🙂
Heatherpaw looked around the dim cave for a golden pelt she hoped to see. Her smoky blue eyes were wide.
Where was Lionpaw? Was he busy? Surely he would come!
She heard soft paw-steps and spun around to see a familiar pair of amber eyes looking at her earnestly.
“Lionpaw!” She purred a happy greeting to the golden tabby.
“Lionclaw, actually. Lionclaw of DarkClan!” corrected the tom.
“Come on, Lionclaw! We have a badger to defeat!” Heatherpaw became Heatherstar, the brave leader of DarkClan.
The light brown she-cat leapt down the rocks quickly and the golden tom hurried after her to defeat their ‘badger’.
Suddenly Heatherpaw stiffened. “Did you hear that?”
“Hear what?”
Above the tunnel, Heatherpaw heard the unmistakable sound of pawsteps. Then she heard a voice.
“Why would Heatherpaw be here? That makes no sense!”
Heatherpaw frowned. That voice was unmistakably her clanmate, Weaselfur. She pictured his ginger fur and white paws, feeling confused. Why would he be here? And why in the name of StarClan was he looking for her?
“I don’t know but Onestar told us to search everywhere. He’s being too protective of Heatherpaw, if you ask me. He needs to learn better fathering.”
Heatherpaw felt her fur bristle at the light brown toms disloyalty. Onestar was a great father!
“You’d better go!” Lionpaw whispered, alarmed.
Heatherpaw gave him a quick nod before gently pressing against his pelt, then running up the tunnel silently.
As soon as she exited the tunnels she slunk down softly and pressed against the ground. Deftly, she walked over to WindClan territory feeling the grass prickle across her paws. She ran after a nearby hare, quickly catching it in one clean blow and yowled to the sky “Thank you StarClan for this piece of prey!”
“Heatherpaw?”
Her mother Whitetail ran into the clearing looking anxious and furious. She leaped onto Heatherpaw and licked the she-cat.
“Where were you? Are you okay?” Questions burst out of the white she-cat.
“I’m fine, Whitetail. I just got a little bit lost when I decided to venture a bit farther to hunt.”
Whitetail looked doubtful but to Heatherpaw’s immense relief didn’t ask any questions.
As they entered the camp, Onestar glared at Heatherpaw, his tabby pelt bushy.
“Do you know how much precious time you wasted?” he snarled angrily.
Does this work?
Yep, it works! 😀
Heatherpaw bounced along the dry grass that poked her paws. She thought about the plump rabbit she caught that day, every time she practiced her new battle move, every wise word she heard the elders say, and then thought about Lionpaw. “Got you!” Lionpaw squealed, pouncing on Heatherpaw and and wrestling in the dim moonlight. Heatherpaw’s thoughts were interrupted as she and her friend wrestled, buried under the thick weeds. When she was with Lionpaw, she could forget about her Clan, and Lionpaw could forget about his. Streaks of light shown through the slim branches of the acacia they were rolling wildly under. “Get off me, you stupid furball!” Heatherpaw chirped playfully. “Were you scared I wasn’t gonna show up?” Her friend teased, straightening up and padding to the base of the acacia. Heatherpaw rolled her soft green eyes. “No,” she scoffed, leaping onto the trunk. “I was just managing my expectations, like the leader of our Clan would.” “Are you going to call a Clan meeting?” Lionpaw asked eagerly. “You bet I am,” she replied, looking up at silverpelt with wide, admiring eyes. “We only have until sunrise.”
Hope it works!!
It works! Is it all in one paragraph?
