Sliverthorn argues why Ashfur would’ve been better for Squirrelflight than Brambleclaw.
(RESPONSE TO 🎶 Embers glowing in the open fire🎶 (Emberstream, she/her))
~Silentpaw~
“..Yes. Very well.”
They nodded, walking towards the elder’s den.
With Mintshine injured and Rottingheart sick, Yellowlake was the new deputy. (sorry Mistedpaw/thunder. We can;t have an inactive deputy, when you are active again, she can be dep)
Yellowlake padded up to Longbranch, “Let all cats old enough to kill a HollyClan cat gather beneath Longbranch!” after waiting for cats to gather, she said, “As you may know, a kit appeared in our territory. She is mute, therefore, usless, and is banished from the territory. Another note, Treeleg, Liontuft, and Silentpaw go hunting. Paleleaf, Mouseheart, go on a border patrol.”
~Silentpaw~
They frowned at this call.
A mute kit was not useless, a mute kit could assist them.
A kit is a kit.
But they knew that they couldn’t, and shouldn’t, say a word about it.
They padded over to Treeleg and Liontuft.
Paleleaf glared at Yellowlake, but didn’t say a word and looked around for Mouseheart. A mute kit isn’t useless, she thought defiantly, and who are you to be calling clan meetings? The thoughts gave her confidence as she calmly waited for Mouseheart.
Mouseheart walked over and calmly said, “Hey. You wanna lead the patrol, or do you want me to?”
Paleleaf glanced at him, “I’ll lead it, seeing as your still on Yellowlake’s bad side.” She meowed, “We don’t want something to happen and, well, she might attack again.” She flicked her tail and trotted out of camp. “What do you think of her decision about the kit?” She asked causally once they were a good ways away from camp.
“I think it was a dumb decision.. but we have to help all kits. I know we don’t trust HollyClan, but I think we should sneak the kit to their camp.” he replied, then barely said, “How do you think the camp will act if Mintshine and I become mates..?”
Paleleaf shrugged, “I imagine they wouldn’t be thrilled, but they would be happy for you. I mean, the clan needs kits , right?” She stared at him imploringly
Mouseheart agreed, “At least, not deaf ones!” he laughed, but then felt guilty.
~Silentpaw~
The apprentice had stayed silent the entire time, until now.
“Are you sure you should be joking about a deaf kit? That seems a bit low..”
“Shut it, Silentpaw. You have that name for a reason.” he hissed.
~Silentpaw~
“That’s because I dont interfere unless I see it suit. You should be more responsible.”
Paleleaf stared at Mouseheart, “You shut it,” she snapped. “Just because that’s their name, doesn’t give you the right to use it against them!” She flicked her tail at Silentpaw, “And you need to be more respectful. Just because HE’S acting like a mouse brain doesnt make YOU any less guilty.” She rolled her eyes at both of them, “You two need to learn to grow up,” she hissed under her breath.
Mouseheart glared at him, “You sure you want to do this? You’ll be on tick duty for moons!” he hissed.
(Aaah did I misgender them?-)
~Silentpaw~
“So be it. You can be as angry as you wish, but the truth isn’t always sweet.”
They didn’t seem bothered. They also knew they shouldn’t draw out a warrior’s wrath, but they did so anyhow.
“We should perhaps check the border. There may be some Hollyclan cats.”
“Ahem!” Mouseheart said, “Your not on this patrol! Your supposed to be hunting with Treeleg and Liontuft!”
~Silentpaw~
“They’re holly-brains. I’d much rather patrol.”
Silentpaw rolled their eyes. They could hunt afterwards.
“Go on your patrol!” Mouseheart hissed, “Are you disobeying your mentor now?” he said, talking about Yellowlake, “Your mentor is deputy, and expects you to be on the correct patrol!”
He didn’t like Yellowlake, but he didn’t want to seem disloyal.
Paleleaf shoved between the two cats, “Both of you need to shut it!” She hissed. “Silentpaw, you go hunting with your patrol.” She flicked her tail to the other cats before turning to Mouseheart. “Come on,” she hissed through clenched teeth. “And don’t forget who is charge of this patrol.” Without another word she bounded toward the border. She turned to make sure that Mouseheart was following, tail twitching impatiently.
Mouseheart rolled his eyes, how does Yellowlake handle this apprentice?
Once Silentpaw was out of view, Paleleaf turned to Mouseheart. “Are you a warrior?” She asked retorically. “Start acting like one.” She snarled without waiting for a reply. “Picking fights with an apprentice is irresponsible for a warrior. Not to mention, rude to the other cats around you.” She sighed exasperated and started walking to the border
“Don’t be talking to your senior warriors that way!” Mouseheart hissed, he’d been alive for many moons, and he wasn’t giving in to someone younger than him
He rolled his eyes, “Let’s go fetch that mute kit and take her to HollyClan,” he snarled to Paleleaf. He had kind of wanted them to be friends, but he didn’t want to now.
Paleleaf glared at him defiantly, “I don’t care how old someone is,” she hissed. “You can be millions of moons old and be as dumb as a kit.” She turned and flicked her tail, “Let’s get the kit,” she snarled.
“I’m the senior warrior here!” he snarled then stalked back to camp.
~Silentpaw~
The cat rolled their eyes. They watched as the other two left.. They didn’t even know where their patrol was.
~Liontuft~
“Come on over, Silentpaw!” he said, cheerfully. He was one of nicest cats in MothClan, “Treeleg isn’t going to be joining us, he sprained his paw.”
~Silentpaw~
They nodded.
“Is he alright?”
They padded towards Liontuft. He was much more calmer to be around, and they enjoyed that.
“Oh, yeah. He’s fine,” Liontuft said calmly, “Not a bad sprain.”
~Silentpaw~
“Very well, lets go hunt then.”
(response to Drizzlepaw)
Paleleaf bounded ahead of him, “Maybe, but it’s MY patrol.” She snapped. She turned and started running back to camp, steering clear of any cats she knew.
Mouseheart rolled his eyes, and sped ahead of Paleleaf, and then walked casually into camp. He snuck into the nursery and quietly grabbed Littlekit and snuck her out of camp.
Paleleaf waited impatiently outside of camp. She quietly stood when she saw Mouseheart and flicked her tail. “Follow me,” she whispered, leading the way toward the border. “Almost there.” She froze when she scented another cat and signaled to Mouseheart to get down. She crouched and creeped to the edge of the border, trying to spot a good place to put Littlekit without being spotted.
Mouseheart rolled his eyes and walked past her, “I’ll lead, flee brain!”
He stalked past Paleleaf and snuck past the scent, not being noticed, then dropped the kit, let out a mewing sound, and when he saw a HollyClan warrior approaching, he ran back to Paleleaf.
“You see, that’s how it’s done,” Mouseheart said.
“And what happens if the HollyClan warrior DOESN’T see her, And she’s found by one of our patrols?” She snapped. “Nevermind,” she sighed. “We just have to hope for the best.”
Suddenly, she felt exhausted and she stood wearily. “Let’s get back to camp,” she meowed without a hint of her former aggression. “Yellowlake will be expecting us.” She slowly started walking back to camp, tail dragging in the dirt.
{~}Mouseheart{~}
He rolled his eyes and walked away from Paleleaf.
Paleaf sighed and settled under a tree, trying to get her emotions under control. What is wrong with me? She wondered, confused.
Lightleaf walked into the woods and spotted Mouseheart, “Hey, you ok?” He asked, noticing he was annoyed
{~}Mouseheart{~}
“I’m fine,” he said, “Just worried about Mintshine… she’s expecting my kits.”
Lightleaf playfully nudged Mouseheart, “Congrats! And don’t worry, we have the best medicine cat, and the queens will take care of Mintshine.” He smiled warmly at him before glancing around, “Hey, have you seen Paleleaf?” He asked worriedly
(Do you mind if Mouseheart and Lightleaf are really good friends?)
{~}Pebblestone{~}
Pebblestone noticed Paleleaf when the two cats got back to camp. She ran over to them.
“Are you okay??” Pebblestone asked Paleleaf, “You don’t look well.”
Paleleaf shrugged, “I’m fine.” She meowed, trying to sound confident. “Have any of the other patrols came back yet?”
Pebblestone shook her head, “Okay. Come to my den if you need anything.”
Paleleaf nodded and walked over to Mintshine, “Hi!” She smiled brightly at Mintshine. “Mouseheart told me you were expecting.” She dropped her voice to a whisper, not wanting other cats to overhear.
(replying to emberstream)
(its fine, also, who is Lightleaf? I don’t see a form for him..)
{~}Mouseheart{~}
“Thanks,” Mouseheart said, “I’m gonna go back to camp, coming?”
(oh, crap, I meant Juniperleap lol. I’m super tired, sorry about that 😜)
Juniperleap nodded, “Sure!” he meowed cheerfully. “When are Mintshine’s kits due?” He asked curiously
“Soon,” he replied, “Maybe at the next half moon. I’m not so sure. She’s been expecting for a moon.”
Juniperleap nodded thoughtfully, “Well, if I knew anything about this stuff, I’d reassure you and say when they’re due. But, I do not, so… I think they’d be due soon?” He tipped his head, trying to think.
Mouseheart laughed, “Yeah… probably. I’ll just leave that stuff to the medicine cat.”
Juniperleap nodded in agreement and smiled, “At least Paleleaf can help,” he tried to help comfort Mouseheart. “She helped with a kitting when she was an apprentice, so she’s bound to know something.” He tried to keep his thoughts from straying to Paleleaf and twitched his ear. “And like I said before, we have the best medicine cat so Mintshine should be fine.”
Mouseheart froze when Juniperleap mentioned Paleleaf, “You mention Paleleaf a lot…” he said, then changed the subject, “She’ll be fine, Pebblestone won’t need help.”
He didn’t like Paleleaf, she got on his nerve too much.
Juniperleap shrugged, “Ok..” he meowed, confused. “Hey, do you want to go hunting later?”
“Sure!” Mouse heart said.
Juniperleap walked into camp, “I have to go, I’ll see you later!” He called to Mouseheart before quickly walking over to Yellowlake.
Mouseheart said before he left, “Okay, bye!”
Yellowlake saw Juniperleap coming.
“What you want?” She hissed, licking her paws.
Juniperleap dipped his head respectfully, “I was wondering if you needed me for anything,” he meowed calmly. “I could go hunting or patch up the dens if needed.”
Yellowlake looked at him, “Sure. You could lead a hunting patrol with Mouseheart and Treeleg.”
She walked up to Longbranch and started calling patrols, “Juniperleap, lead a hunting patrol with Treeleg and Mouseheart. Liontuft, go on a border patrol with Paleleaf and Silentpaw.”
Juniperleap nodded and flicked his tail at the two cats.
Paleleaf stood with a sigh and walked over to Liontuft and Silentpaw.
Mouseheart and Briarshade (was treeleg, but that name is terrible) walked up to Juniperleap.
“We’re all ready!” Mouseheart said.
Liontuft glanced at Paleleaf and Silentpaw, and made a huge smile.
“Y’all ready?” He asked
~Silentpaw~
They nodded. They weren’t paying much attention to the others, their mind was on something.
Liontuft said leading them out of camp, “Let’s go!”
Mouseheart said to Juniperleap, “We ready to go?”
Juniperleap nodded and lead the way out of camp, toward the hunting grounds. “We’ll split up.” He meowed decisively.
Paleleaf silently followed, eyes scanning the undergrowth for any signs of intruders.
Mouseheart followed Juniperleap (or is it leaf) outta camp.
Liontuft led the patrol to HollyClan border, and he left some scent markers.
“No sign of HollyClan today!” He said happily.
(Should they encounter HollyClan? We need a new battle soon! The rp IS HollyClan vs mothclan)
I can have them encounter Blackstorm & Redfern!)
Sure!
~Blackstorm/Redfern~
The tom was approaching the border with his sister, it was just the two of them. No more, No less. Their heads were lowered and they were quietly talking to each other.
Liontuft noticed HollyClan scent, and beconded for Paleleaf. He noticed Silentpaw snuck off, but that was fine.
He snuck up to the border, but then started walking causally.
“Hello,” he said casually to Blackstorm and Redfern.
~Blackstorm/Redfern~
Their heads rose at the same time, staring at Liontuft for only a second
~Redfern~
“Hello there. Are we too close to the border?”
“Yes, you are,” he said, “But as long as you don’t get any closer I’ll let is slide.”
Liontuft may be nice, but that didn’t mean he was nice to HollyClan.
~Blackstorm~
“We don’t plan to get any closer. We’d rather not interact with, Mothclan pests.”
~Redfern~
She gave her brother a quick nip, to try and shut him up.
Paleleaf swept her gaze over them, “They’re no threat,” she meowed calmly. “They can’t even defend their own clan.” She swished her tail in a satisfactory way and turned, “I’m gonna go find Silentpaw,” she called. “if they give you trouble, which probably won’t happen, just yell.” She started walking away, looking for Silentpaw.
~Blackstorm~
“But we can keep track of our appreciations, and we can keep a leader longer-”
He was batted on the head for this remark.
“Fine.”
~Redfern~
“I apologize for my brothers mouth.”
~Silentpaw~
They were treading back towards the others, they smelt a bit like rouge.. and were they..? They were smiling.
Liontuft nodded, and sat down.
“How’s your day going?” He asked, “Any troubles?”
He forgot he was talking to an enemy clan, and treated them like his clanmates. He noticed though and coughed in embarrassment.
~Redfern~
“quite swell. and what about yours?”
“It’s been good,” he meowed.
~Silentpaw~
They slipped away from the other cats, going towards the left side of the territory, near where rouges are often seen.
Response to Drizzlepaw)
~Redfern~
“That’s good news, I apologize if this is prodding but is that your clanmate? The one near-”
~Blackstorm~
“I don’t think that is, they’re far to close-”
He quieted down immediately
“What clanmate? Paleleaf or Silentpaw?” he asked, confused.
(what clanmate exactly? or is it one of the loners/rouges u made?)
~Blackstorm~
“Neither.. They seem to be talking to Silentpaw, though- Now they’re running off!”
(Rouges!)
Liontuft looked over in confusion, then said to Blackstorm and redfern, “Sorry, I have to go.”
He dashed to Silentpaw and demanded, “Who was that?”
~Silentpaw~
They seemed happy before it faltered. They had a small rouge scent attached to them.
“Who was who? I don’t get what you mean.”
They licked their chest calmly, they didn’t seem scared.
“The rouge you were talking to,” he said, calming his voice. “Were they trespassing?”
~Silentpaw~
“What rouge? And why is there Hollyclan cats near our border?”
Liontuft rolled his eyes, “Because we are right nest to the border!” he thought for a sec then added, “Don’t lie to me, I know you smell like a rouge.” he thought for another sec, “You’re not in trouble.”
~Silentpaw~
They knew a lie when they heard one.
“That’s because I’m near rouge scent, smell for yourself. But still, why are they SO close?”
Liontuft glared at them, “HollyClan is allowed inside their borders, and we were having a friendly conversation!” He spat, “Now tell me why you were talking to rouges!”
Liontuft was loosing his patience, stupid apprentices!
~Silentpaw~
“There were none. You didn’t see me talking to any rouges, but you take those Hollyclan pests word for it? Tch.”
They turned away, licking their chest again.
(If ya want, you can have Liontuft somewhat fake attack Silentpaw and Lynx can bolt in)
“Tell. Me. Who. They. Were. Or. ELSE!” he snarled, he didn’t get mad much… but when he did, it made cats jump, because he was a fox-heart when mad.
(Hmmm how bout Liontuft is nice and all, but when he gets mad he’s psycho? Then he could attack Silentpaw)
~Silentpaw~
“There was NOBODY!”
They raised their voice to hide a bush rustle, which had failed. Their fur spiked and they backed up a step.
Liontuft streched himself out, preparing for attack.
“Don’t lie to me, fox-heart.” he snarled.
He unsheathed his claws and pounced on Silentpaw, and screeched, “TELL ME NOW!”
He slashed Silentpaw’s back.
~Lynx~
He didn’t hit Silentpaw. No. He hit another cat. The cat didn’t even seem to realize he was bleeding
“DON’T YOU TOUCH HIM YOU FLEA-PELT EXCUSE OF A WARRIOR!”
Claws unsheathed, the tom went to scratch Liontuft.
~Silentpaw~
They stumbled back, forced to stay in place from shock.
“Oh, is this your rouge friend, Silentpaw?” He sneered, then pinned Lynx down, baring his teeth.
“Trespasser!” He yowled, and used his back legs to slash Lynxpaw’s underbelly.
~Lynx~
The tom didn’t buckle. Instead he bit down as hard as he could on Liontufts leg.
~Silentpaw~
They crouched and leaped, knocking Liontuft off Lynx
“ENOUGH! YOU TWO ARE ACTING LIKE KITS!”
“You’re fox-dung!” he snarled at Lynx and Silentpaw, “Why’d you lie to me, huh?”
He slided away from Silentpaw and bit Lynx’s tail really hard.
~Silentpaw~
For once, they seemed.. panicked. “BECAUSE YOU’RE ALWAYS DOING THIS!”
Once again, they lunged and tackled Liontuft~Silentpaw~
“Because YOU DO THIS!”
They bit down on Liontufts tail, kicking at his hindlegs
“You rotten piece of fresh-kill!” he snarled, and slammed into Silentpaw, making him fall. He pinned Silentpaw down, “You think I’d let you and your friend go that easily?”
He raked Silentpaw’s stomach with his hind legs.
~Silentpaw~
They blinked.. what was happening? Their head began to spin.
~Blackstorm~
He grabbed Liontufts scruff and pulled him off, holding him down.
“Enough. Think about what you’re doing.”
“HollyClan?!” He spat, “Get out of our territory!”
“Enough!” Yellowlake snarled, she appeared out of no where.
“HollyClan, you may go,” She hissed, “Now.”
“Who are you to be ordering us around?” Liontuft spat.
“I’m your acting leader. Wild star is sick,” she snapped back.
Liontuft’s lip curled back in a snarl, but he didn’t say anything.
“Liontuft, back to came,” she ordered, then turned to Lynx and Silentpaw. “What happened? Be honest.”
Yellowlake’s glare was enough. She made sure the apprentice wouldn’t lie.
~Lynx~
“I’ll tell you what happened! Silentpaw sent me away because I was in their territory, and then that mistake of a warrior started to try and push Silentpaw to tell him who I was, THEN he got violent and I barged in! Then Silentpaw tried to stop our fight, then that damn warrior attacked them! Then Hollyclan came to help.”
~Silentpaw~
They slowly laid down, their head was spinning and they felt tired.
“Hm.. I’m awfully tired..”
Oh. Its bloodless.
Paleleaf ran over and bent down over Silentpaw, “He needs to see the med cat. Now.” She meowed gravely. “We can question him later.” Her gaze swept over Lynx and Liontuft, “Take that cat to camp, and get Liontuft home.” She ordered. She didn’t care that Yellowlake was deputy, her clanmate was in trouble and she would do anything to help.
Yellowlake rolled her eyes, “Good for him. Getting his psycho side out. Silentpaw shouldn’t be lying to a senior warrior, and Liontuft is right. You’re not allowed in our territory.”
She glared at Silentpaw, “Now, Lynx, you may leave the territory. Now.” She turned to Silentpaw, “You may stay in camp for the next Half-Moon.”
~Silentpaw~
They didn’t respond, They seemed to be in a daze. Only snapping out of it when Lynx nudged them. “Hm? Yeah. Whatever.” They started to lick their wounds slowly
“Back to camp, now.” She hissed to Silentpaw.
Paleleaf watched them through narrowed eyes, “Yellowlake, can we talk?” She asked after a moment. She wisked her tail across the leaves, giving Lynx a hard stare. “You heard Yellowlake,” she snapped. “Leave.”
~Lynx~
“Yeah yeah gimme a minute! I’m guessing you’re blind because you can’t see that they’re bleeding.”
He dragged Silentpaw over towards the border and went to his side, cleaning up the wounds he could reach.
“What is it?” Yellowlake snapped to Paleleaf, “Make it quick.”
Yellowlake glared at Silentpaw and Lynx.
“Now.” She snapped, “Both of you, go. Our medicine cat can take care of Silentpaw. They don’t need needy loners hanging around.”
~Lynx~
“Oh bug off. I’ll leave in one second.”
He lowered his voice and asked Silentpaw something, which they nodded to. Lynx then got up and padded off, his tail lashing angrily.
~Silentaw~
They stumbled onto their paws and padded towards camp, they didn’t seem ashamed or disappointed, just tired.
Paleleaf glanced at Lynx, “I KNOW that Silentpaw was talking to that cat,” she whispered urgently. “If they refuse to talk, they’re obviously hiding something. I think we should keep a closer eye on Silentpaw for a couple moons. Just to be safe.”
Silentpaw is a sneaky lil bugger, they’ll find a way to see Lynx >:) /hj)
When Liontuft got back to camp, he heard a very loud shriek.
Mouseheart ran up to him, “It’s Mintshine! She’s having my kits!” He shrieked with worry.
Pebblestone ran out of the medicine cat den to head to the nursery, with herbs in her mouth.
Mouseheart looked at Juniperleap, worry in his eyes.
Some more shrieked echoed inside the camp, then they died down.
Mouseheart dashed inside.
Is she okay?? He panicked.
Pebblestone smiled at him, “You have two she-kits and a tom.”
Mouseheart sighed in relief, and started licking the kits.
Juniperleap peeked his head into the nursery, “How is she?” He whispered curiously.
“She’s fine,” he sighed in relief, “Meet Rainkit, Mistykit, and Stonekit. Stonekit’s named after Pebblestone, because she saved Mintshine’s life…” he muttered.
Mintshine had almost gone to StarClan, as the kits came to early. One of the kits had gotten stuck, and she and the kit almost didn’t make it.
Juniperleap’s eyes shone with pride for his friend, “Congratulations, they all look amazing.” He whispered. He walked over and dipped his head to Mintshine, “You must be very proud,” he meowed quietly. He sniffed each kit in turn. “I’ll leave you two alone.” He whispere after a moment. He smiled at Mouseheart one last time before backing out of the den.
Mouseheart smiled back at him, then curled up next to Mintshine.
(In response to Paleleaf)
Yellowlake nodded, “That’s the obvious, mousebrain!”
Foxflame padded to the far end of the border. Lightningstrike was there waiting for her.
” Lightningstrike, ” she purred, ” how’s Hollyclan?”
” Were fine thank you,” he purred, ” how are you?” His eyes shone with love.
” I’m okay,” Foxflame responded, she checked the air for a patrol.
Briarshade padded up to them (she used to be Treeleg).
“Hello, Foxflame,” she said kindly, “Hello, Lightningstrike.”
She looked at him suspiciously.
“Let me guess, you love each other,” she mewed with laughter in her voice, “Don’t worry, I won’t tell anyone.”
“Thank you Brairshade,” Lightningstrike mewed dipping his head, he turned to Foxflame,” See you Foxflame ” he turned away running into HollyClan territory.
” Thanks Brairshade,” she mewed, ” you might save my life, well not just mine.”
She dipped her head, then walked away to go hunt.
Foxflame looked down at her belly, she was in fact expecting Lightningstrikes kits, they had agreed to meet tomorrow night to be taken to HollyClan and pray to Starclan they would except and not kill her or, should she stay? Would they figure it out? She wasn’t very close to any cat in her clan…. I will stay, she decided and run away if anything happens. And perhaps, she thought, i could end the war with these kits.
Coldpaw put a paw on MothClan ground before realizing she was being followed. She turned to Silentpaw. “I’ve come to help you”, she explained. “I need to see Yellowlake.”
