Cherry scrabbled over the rocks, smelling the air for prey. She caught the faint scent of mouse on the wind, and her sharp vision pinpointed a small mouse between the rocks. It wasn’t much, but it would do. She rose off the ground on her wings, flying silently. She directed herself so that her shadow didn’t tower over the mouse, then dropped down on it. She gave it a quick bite and put it in her jaws.
