Because today is my first clanniversary, I thought this would be a good time for a reintroduction.
I am WhiteWhiskers
I’m a 73 year old human male. I’m an elder both in real life and on the blog. I’m probably the oldest person on the blog (except for Flam who appears to be 632).
My purrsona is an orange and white tom with a white face and chest and green eyes.
Nicknames: I don’t have any. Feel free to make some up. You can call me anything you like, provided it’s done with the respect due to an elder.
I don’t have a favorite color—context is everything—but I don’t wear yellow, orange, purple, or bright green.
My favorite food is my homemade chili, perfected through years of research. A tuna melt with avocado on sourdough is pretty good, too. I’ve also been making a lot of curries lately (I’m the primary cook in my household).
I live in the state of New Mexico, USA.
I’m a retired technical writer and editor.
I compose music and I am currently working on an album that I hope to have ready in a few months. I compose mainly for virtual (soft) instruments in a digital audio workstation (DAW).
I play the harp and flutes that I make.
I study classical Greek.
I enjoy hiking and bike riding.
I have two cats, The Captain (M, 11yo this week) and Spoons (F, 10yo)
On the blog, I hang out mostly in the Sunning Patch, the Elders’ Den (which was created at my request), and more recently, the Bookshelf.
I started reading Warriors in mid-2022, after a recommendation from people in a cat group on Facebook. I have read everything through TBC. I felt rather burned out after finishing TBC (I found Bristlefrost’s death shattering) and I haven’t started ASC. Maybe I’ll wait until the series is complete and binge read it.
I found my way here via a link on the Warriors Wiki to the old BlogClan camp and from there to here. I was looking for a place to write about Warriors where others might be interested in what I had to say, and I certainly found it here.
I have enjoyed reading the thoughts and opinions of you young’uns (Purdy voice), especially as I do not commonly encounter young people IRL. (Among the people I know, anyone under 50 would be considered young.)

I’m doing well, thanks. I make the flutes but not the harp. Making a harp might be almost as difficult as making a cello. That kind of instrument building is a craft that takes years to learn.

Also, if people were wondering why I was not active in the beginning of April, I was on a trip in Taiwan. It was really fun, and I did survive the 7.5 magnitude earthquake. It was really scary, but me and my family are safe. Other then that, the trip was really fun! We got to eat a lot of delicious Taiwanese food. We also bought a lot of snacks. I loved the trip a lot.
