  • Waspshine padded across the river. Somehow, her feet never touched the bottom; they simply hovered over the water as she strolled down. She felt light as air- soft breeze ruffling her fur and her kits beside her.
Crimsonkit suddenly gave a squeal, paws slipping and sending her thrashing into the water. Waspshine yelped and reached down to help her daughter- only now, her power had become a curse. She was powerless to help the kit. She sobbed to herself as the kit struggled against the waves, reaching in vain towards her. Crimsonkit was just out of reach, tiny paws grabbing for Waspshine as she screamed,

    “Mom, help me!”

Waspshine looked up desperately. She gave a gasp as she saw the shore.
Her entire clan was there… watching her struggle silently. She took a footstep towards them, opening her mouth to speak; but nothing came out.

“You cannot stop what is coming.” a voice reflected across the clearing– but it wasn’t coming from any one of her clanmates. She shivered, frozen in place as the voice repeated it’s message.
“You cannot stop what is coming… You cannot stop what is…. You cannot stop…”

Waspshine woke with a gasp. She looked down to Willowkit and Crimsonkit- they were both safe, curled around her. She pulled them closer to her and looked up.

    What had her dream meant?

    • Featherkit woke up to sunlight flooding the nursery “Willowkit” she whispered “Are you awake?”

      • Willowkit looked over to the little kit, poking out from her mother and sibling.

“I’ve been awake for so long, I’m going to die of boredom!” she giggled quietly.

        • “Do you want to go outside?” Featherkit whispered, trying not to wake up Waspshine and Crimsonkit, “If I stay laying down any longer, I’m going to be stuck like this forever!”

          • The tabby kit nodded, excited. “Let’s go!”

She pulled Featherkit along with her and they ran out into the clearing. There were a few sleepy warriors up. She tripped over the paws of a huge she-cat, looking up with wide eyes.

            • Featherkit shoved Willowkit out of the way of the she-cat, “careful! You don’t want to get in trouble this early” she said jokingly

              • Willowkit yelped as the warrior swatted them away. She bounced over to a huge mess of ferns and fell into them. She snuffled around, eventually fishing out a tiny beetle.

“Look! I found a bug!” her eyes were huge with wonder. She set it down, petting it as if it were a toy.

                • “What should I name it?” she inspected the bug from all angles, padding around dramatically as she looked down. Willowkit gave a tiny sneeze, nearly blowing the beetle away. She yelped and clutched it to her chest protectively.

                • “So do you!” Willowkit protested. She placed the beetle on the other kit’s head, as if considering what to name it.

                  “I think I’ll name it…. Taffy.”

                • Featherkit stayed still as the beetle crawled on her head, “where should we keep Taffy?” she asked trying not to wiggle

                • “Let’s make taffy a home to stay in!” Willowkit began to arrange a pile of sticks together, sticking them together with sap. The whole situation looked odd to any outside eyes.

                • Featherkit gathered more twigs while Willowkit formed the home, “it’s gonna be great!” she said excited

                • Willowkit grinned and darted over to a huge leaf – that’ll make the perfect roof!

Her foot suddenly caught on a twig, sending her tumbling to the ground. She gave a loud wail.

                • Featherkit darted over, worried “Are you okay?” she asked sniffing Willowkit

                • Featherkit leaned over, and licked Willowkit’s foot “Does that hurt?” she asked

                • She winced away from the touch, foot twitching.
“Ow!” she yelped. Her cries had stirred some of the camp, most cats sending annoyed looks towards her.
