Onyxstone padded into the camp, a plump squirrel hanging limply from his jaws. “Dawnstar!” he called, setting down his catch “the prey is running well”.
“Ooh hear that Dapplestone?” asked Lilyfrond. “The preeeeeyyyyy is running well.” Dapplestone nodded. “Indeed it is, Lilyfrond.” And then Dapplestone walked away. “Noooo come back!!!” shouted Lilyfrond, falling on the ground dramatically. Then she felt Dawnstar poking her. “Get up, Lilyfrond.” “But I need to eat some preeeeeyyyyyyyy!!!!” she moaned.

Onyxstone allowed himself a mrrow of amusement as he watched his clanmates interact. “Then why don’t you go hunt? After all.’preeeeeyyyyy is running well’ he mocked, a purr in his throat.
Dawnstar grabbed a plump vole from the pile, and sat down next to Onyxstone, Lilyfrond, and Dapplestone. “Onyxstone, Dapplestone want to go on a border patrol with me?”
Onyxstone grabbed himself a mouse and nodded to Dawnstar. “Sounds good to me! Which border?”
“Let’s go to the (Enemy)clan border.”

Onyx nodded and padded after his leader.

Dawnstar was walking in the forest with Onyxstone and Dapplestone close behind her. When they got to the border, Dawnstar put her scent on a dead bush. Rainclan scent was strong, a patrol was coming. When they got into veiw, she could see the Mosslight was leading the patrol, along with Dewnose, and Snowstrike. “Don’t be hostile!” She told her clanmates.
Onyxstone dug his claws into the ground, his amber eyes narrowed. “Fine.” he growled through gritted teeth padding to put his own scent on a tree.
Onyxstone glanced at his leader, question in his gaze yet he had the sense to hold his tongue.
Onyxstone glanced over at the other patrol and flicked his tail towards them in greeting.

“Lilyfrond and Owlnose, go on border patrol,” Aspenbreeze said, “obviously, go to the border that wasn’t patrolled by Dawnstar. And Rootfall, your on hunting patrol with me. Nectarpaw, if you need more herbs you can come along with us.
Owlnose set off at once, not even waiting to see if Lilyfrond was following him. He brushed out of camp and set off at a fast paced walk along the route to the border. They were at peace with this Clan, but he didn’t care. Why had Aspenbreeze put him with Lilyfrond? Surely she knew he didn’t like her, not one bit! “Hurry up, Lilyfrond, or I’ll leave you behind,” he said as he stared directly ahead. Suddenly, a flash of black and white fur caught his eye and he spun around to see a great badger, arm raised and ready to strike. Owlnose reacted immediately, leaping into battle. He tried to claw its belly, but his claws got stuck in the beast’s matted pelt. With a shriek, Owlnose ripped his paw away, but not quick enough to avoid the claws of the badger as it swung at him. He was badly injured, a long, deep wound along his belly and side. Owlnose collapsed on the ground, his consciousness slowly fading… And his last thought before he blacked out was “Why did I leave Lilyfrond?”
Onyxstone padded into the camp, a limp bird in his jaws. “I wonder where Nectarpaw is.” he murmured to himself. The young she-cat had shown up suddenly as a kit with a strange scent to her fur but Onyxstone took a parental liking to her and convinced Dawnstar to keep her. “I hope she knows I’m proud of her”
Cloudypaw dashed over to his mentor. “Can we go on a border patrol Onyxstone? I haven’t been out all day!” he said as he weaved around Onyxstone, tripping over his paws in the process.

Onyxstone stumbled over his apprentice with a mrrow of surprise. Once Cloudypaws words registered he glanced over at the prey pile
‘I suppose we could hunt a bit on our way back..’. “I suppose Cloudypaw, but be ready to hunt afterwards with all that energy” he purred as he padded towards the camp entrance.
Cloudypaw bounded through the woods, pausing to rub his cheek against a branch. meanwhile, Whisperfur sorted through the herbs, seeing what needed to be replaced.

Onyxstone glanced at his apprentice and purred with amusement, he was sure Cloudypaw would make a good warrior despite his paw.
Discovering that she had run out of comfry, Whisperfur walked over to the deputy’s den. “Aspenbreeze, can you send someone out to collect me some comfy?”
Cloudypaw pranced over to his mentor to show him the mouse he caught. “When do you think I’ll earn my warrior name, Onyxstone?” he asked.
Onyxstone paused for a moment and shrugged. “that’s for Dawnstar and I to decide. But I’m sure you’ll get it sooner rather than later.” With a flick of his tail he gestured towards the forest. “you up for some hunting?”
