Housekeeping Rules
- Include content warnings if necessary! This can be things like graphic violence, death, sexual content, etc. If you wouldn’t recommend it to a young kid without warning them what’s coming, then include content warnings!
- Try to keep non-book chatter out of this page! It can be redirected to the Tavern.
- Try to keep Warrior Cats chatter out of this page! We’re here to highlight books aside from the cats we know and love, so you can head over to the Sunning Patch or the Elder’s Den to discuss Warrior Cats!
- Fanfiction recommendations are allowed but fanfiction advertisements are not! This means that while you can recommend someone or your own fanfiction to other people, you cannot announce or remind people of a new chapter release on this page. You may do so on the Fan Fiction page.
I am reading Ode to a Nobody right now and so far I recommend it. It’s a novel in verse about a girl who lives through a devastating tornado.
Ooh, sounds great!
Im reading a book called Rules by Cynthia Lord! Anyone else read it?
I LOVE Rules! It’s on my massive tbr list to read again.
So I just want to recommend an author. Kate DiCamillo is awesome. Sometimes her books get a little intense but that just makes the ending even better. Here are some books by DiCamillo I recommend:
The Magician’s Elephant
It’s about a boy, Peter Augustus Duchene. So, before the time in the book, there was a war and Peter’s parents died. A soldier, I forgot his name, takes Peter in but refuses to take in his sister because she is just a baby and he had no knowledge on taking care of babies. Peter and his sis both think the other is dead, but the end is wonderful.
The Tale of desperaux
The heartwarming tale of how a mouse who broke almost all of the mouse rules, a rat who loves the light, and a cauliflower eared girl come together.
Flora and Ulysses
This is the book that got me into Kate DiCamillo. It’s very humorous and gets you to keep reading easily. You just wait until you read about a girl, a squirrel, and a lot of mystery.
Now I just want to state this. Harry Potter all the way!
I’ve read The Tale Of Desperaux and I really liked it!
It’s awesome isn’t it?
I’m currently reading the third book of Keeper of the Lost Cities, and I would definitely recommend it! It’s really good, and has magic, wizards, and mystery 👍
As a keeper fan myself (once a hardcore one, actually) I would like to agree! However, I wouldn’t say it has wizards or magic, per se, I’d say there’s powers beyond the normalities of our world. They’re not actually wizards /lh
The book “Fish in a Tree” by Lynda Mullaly Hunt is really good, it’s about a 6th grade girl who struggles with dyslexia, bullies, and having no friends and how she pushes through and finally finds friends and learns how to read. Lynda Mullaly Hunt also wrote “One for the Murphy’s” and “Shouting at the Rain” which are also really good books
I’m glad to see someone recommending those books! I have all three but haven’t read them yet.
I love Fish in a Tree!!
Has anyone here read the Wolf Chronicles? I love that series.
I am but I think you know that already. I love the first book already
Anyone reading wolves of the beyond or has anyone read Pax?
I’ve read the Wolves of the Beyond!!!!!
I’ve only read one book and I’m waiting for a book to come in the mail. but I like it so far
just got an update on where the book is and its almost here!
Yay!!!! 😀
I GOT IT!!!!!!!! (yesterday but still)
I have read Pax and some of the Beyond series.
I started reading the book when I was younger but never finished the book then I read the 5th? book to see If it was a good series, and it is so now I’m reading the first book again
have you read Pax 2?
Has anybody read The Words We Keep by Erin Stewart? As far as I can tell, it’s somewhat unknown. But I love it so much. It’s very… real.
It sounds interesting, I’ll keep it in mind 🙂
You recommended it to me a few pages back, and I ordered it from the library (I’m gonna get it in a few days). From what I’ve seen, it’s the kind of book I’ll love 😀
anyone read Elementals? its about people who can turn into frost wolves and fire dragons. I’ve only read the first book (frost wolves) and I’m going to get the last 2 one day
I’ve read the first book- it was pretty fun!
I’m reading Turtles All the Way Down by John Greene. It’s really good but trigger warnings for strong language and OCD. I would say 16 and older.
Just started Endgame by James Frey (in French ofc, that’s all my school library has 😛) and it’s amazing so far! Would recommend for apprentices and older, it’s similar to HG if anyone’s interested :))
On second thought, maybe not younger apprentices either
It’s on my library’s For Later list (which is growing extremely long…) 😀
Edit: Actually, getting it right now, it’s only in ebook format at my library so no point in delaying reading 😛
Has anyone else here read Sarah Dessen’s books? I’ve been on a YA romance kick recently, and she’s one of my favorites. Kasie West is another author a lot of people compare to her, but I don’t like her books very much :/
I liked the romance in Sarah Dessen’s Saint Anything, Along for the Ride, and Just Listen, and I loved the friendship in Someone Like You.
TW: Dreamland by Sarah Dessen mentions sexual abuse and is not appropriate for kits or probably apprentices either. Just Listen mentions a past incident of rape, and Someone Like You also has mild sexual content and deals with teenage pregnancy.
I’ve read Saint Anything; it was really good!!! 😀
anyone read wolf road? what is it like? I’m thinking about getting it
