Housekeeping Rules
- Include content warnings if necessary! This can be things like graphic violence, death, sexual content, etc. If you wouldn’t recommend it to a young kid without warning them what’s coming, then include content warnings!
- Try to keep non-book chatter out of this page! It can be redirected to the Tavern.
- Try to keep Warrior Cats chatter out of this page! We’re here to highlight books aside from the cats we know and love, so you can head over to the Sunning Patch or the Elder’s Den to discuss Warrior Cats!
- Fanfiction recommendations are allowed but fanfiction advertisements are not! This means that while you can recommend someone or your own fanfiction to other people, you cannot announce or remind people of a new chapter release on this page. You may do so on the Fan Fiction page.
Has anyone read Maybe a fox? I reread it a few months ago for memories (and because I love this book!) it was actually what inspired me to write a book. (although it was a page per chapter and an almost exact copy of the book but with different names for the characters a few role switches and with wolves! it is called A story of a wolf and a girl (I’m not going to publish it) I think I wrote it when I was 11?
I haven’t read it, but I might!!!! 😀 Hey, I started writing because of reading too!!!!!! (my chapters were also 1 page long 😛 )
Yep, I have read it! Then I told my best friend to read it, and SHE loved it!
I LOVE this book
Hey! Has anyone read ‘You’ve Reached Sam’? (WARNING: Someone dies, and she’s really sad about it) It’s a really good book about a girl named Julie whose boyfriend dies in a car crash. But then she calls his phone to hear his voicemail and he PICKS UP THE PHONE. Anyways, it’s a really good book! But as I’ve said (twice, actually) someone dies.
Just read the synopsis and some of the reviews! Seems people have mixed views on it, I probably wouldn’t be trying it myself, but it looks like an interesting premise! I’m glad you enjoyed it 🙂
yep and that’s going onto my never ending list of books to read-
I’m reading Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix and The Selection by Kiera Cass. Any Selection fans out there?
I like The Selection, yes! I like the complexity of the plot, and how the book is more than what it says it is.
I LOVE THE SELECTION!!!! Maxon is literally the best i love him so much <333333
My friend read it and it sounds interesting
Anyone read One dog and his boy? I got to read it for a book report at school
Oh gosh I absolutely recommend Polar bear Express club, Hunger Games and Scythe
Warning: Hunger Games and Scythe has a lot of death a in it and is A BIT gory
P.s: when I say a bit gory I mean VERY gory
I just finished The Adventures of Amina al-Sirafi by S.A. Chakraborty and it was very good! It’s a historical fantasy about a retired pirate who gets her crew back together for one last adventure. It has a lot of nice platonic bonds between families members and friends. A very fun read for warrior-aged folks.
I would put the age limit at ~15+, as it the content warnings include some sexual content, quite a bit of swearing, violence, and some darker elements.
Has anyone read The silent paitent? If not I really recommend it!
I’ve heard of it!!!!!
Has anybody read the Maze Runner books? I have (kinda). Aight so basically, near my house, I have this mall and they have this thrift shop where they sell second hand things for REALLY cheap and all the money goes to year six formal (since here in aus we don’t really have many middle schools so it’s primary until year 6, then high school for year 7 to 12). soo yea. Once time they were selling books for FIFTY CENTS EACH. oh, and did I mention they’re in good quality?! so of course, I got some. One of which was called ‘the death cure’, but after i bought it, i realised it was the 3rd book in the maze runner series ahahah. never mind that, I actually caught on pretty well 😛 sooooo ye. does anyone like that book?
Yes! I really liked the Maz Runner; it’s a good book. 😀
I read those awhile back! They’re pretty good :]
Yep! Love them 😀
I’m tryna find it somewhere 😛 I would absolutely love to read it, though!!! 😀
does anyone know Nimona? It’s a graphic novel and it became a movie (which got an oscar). just saying, if you read the reviews, don’t mind them. The reviews are either it’s too dark for little kids, and MAYBE THAT IS BECAUSE IT”S NOT FOR LITTLE KIDS?! orrr it’s because it had LGBTQ, which honestly makes me mad, bc there’s nothing wrong with it. if you wanna watch it, I HIGHLY RECOMMEND IT!!! warning, it has a lot of death and dark themes, such as suicidal thoughts and murder. but other than that, 10000000000000/10. it’s just *chef’s kiss*
I’ve watched the movie 🙂
it’s SO goodddd
Has anyone read ‘Daisy Jones & The Six’ by Taylor Jenkins Reid or watched the show based on that book?
For those who haven’t read or watched it, it’s about a fictional 70’s band called ‘The Six’ and their singer, Daisy Jones. The former members of the band get interviewed about their time touring as ‘Daisy Jones & The Six’ and they talk about the drama that ensues behind the stage, leading to their eventual break-up as a band.
Both the book and the TV Show are really good, with the latter being shot like a documentary, but please know that if you want to read the book and/or watch the show that they both contain strong language (swearing), sexual content, smoking and drug use, so I would only recommend them for over 16s. 🙂
I’ve read the book! It was really interesting, I enjoyed it quite a bit.
i’ve read it^^ love that its drama rivals fleetwood mac lol
That sounds really good! I may read it eventually, when I’m a bit older.
has anyone read the Inheritance games? it’s a book about a girl that suddenly inherits soo much stuff (money, castle-like house, a bunch of cars, etc.) from someone she has never known. it’s mystery, action, and romance. I wouldn’t recommend it to anyone under 13 (i’m 14), it has a bit of foul language, some violence, harder vocabulary, and romance inappropriate to a younger age.
Yes! It’s a really good series! 😀
I’ve read the first one, I wasn’t a huge fan though 😛
I have read it, and I’m midway through The Brothers Hawthorne! It’s a very good series, not one of my absolute favorites but I do like it a lot
I’ve read it, some of the romance made me a bit uncomfortable but I really liked the plot!
YES THE INHERITANCE GAMES ARE THE BEST!!!!!! 😀
Has any one read the Pax series? I read it and found it particularily touching
I believe I read the first one! I liked it 🙂
I think I read it when I was like..9? My school library had the whole series
I don’t know why young me read the whole thing, looking back there’s some pretty scary and gory things in those books, especially in the few comic panels
Overall really good books, would reccommend
Wait…I don’t think we’re talking about the same thing
Are we talking about the same thing? the book about a fox named Pax?
I haven’t read it yet, but I might 😀
Yes I have!!! both books!!!
Have read the first book!
I got the first two books in the One of Us Is Lying series from the library (recommended by Shadeleap, TYSM SHADES), and I read both within 48 hours. They. Are. So. Good. For starters, they’re mystery thrillers, and I didn’t discover the plot within the first five chapters, so they won my undying respect. All the characters are great, the plot is good, there’s too much kissing but whatever. I did not expect the reveals at the end of each book, which is the best thing that’s happened to me while reading a mystery book (I’m notorious for discovering the culprit way too quick *gives Nancy Drew a pointed look* so it’s really refreshing to read something where I’m clueless till the end), and it was so good ughhhhhhh :DD
In the first book, there’s some romance but nothing too explicit (some kissing, and some mature stuff is mentioned but not in detail, and doesn’t show any), lots of strong language (swearing), some violence, deals with heavier topics, and it is DARK. The second has some more questionable scenes, death, romance, strong language, heavier topics, and violence, and is also very dark. I’d say the books are 13/14+, and definitely not for kits and young apprentices. If you want to read, I’d suggest checking the trigger warnings first and making sure you’re mature enough to handle it :))
If anyone’s read it, PLEASE let me know, I need to nerd out with someone about this 😛 Also, who’s your favourite character?
Edit: Oof, sorry about the length of this… I am wayyyyyyyyy too passionate about this stuff =P
Sounds cool!!!!! I’m not too into mystery, but I ight check it out 😀
Oh yesss!! I agree, it’s incredibly dark and if you’re looking into it, be careful, but i loved it so much!! There’s actually a tv show if you want to check that out Emmz 😀 it’s a lot different from the books but it’s still good! my favorite characters are Addy, Nate, Bronwyn, Maeve, and Ashton, hbu?
I might watch the TV show, I don’t usually watch on-screen book adaptations because a lot of the time they are so fundamentally different from the novel that it kinda ruins it, and also my parents might not let me anyway (they’re fine with me reading the books though), but I might check it out when I’m a bit older 😀 My favourites characters are NATE, um NATE, Bronwyn, Addy, Maeve my girl, Ashton, and Cooper (my terrible decision making choices shown to full display here)
YES ONE OF US IS LYING IS SOOO GOOD!
