Housekeeping Rules
- Include content warnings if necessary! This can be things like graphic violence, death, sexual content, etc. If you wouldn’t recommend it to a young kid without warning them what’s coming, then include content warnings!
- Try to keep non-book chatter out of this page! It can be redirected to the Tavern.
- Try to keep Warrior Cats chatter out of this page! We’re here to highlight books aside from the cats we know and love, so you can head over to the Sunning Patch or the Elder’s Den to discuss Warrior Cats!
- Fanfiction recommendations are allowed but fanfiction advertisements are not! This means that while you can recommend someone or your own fanfiction to other people, you cannot announce or remind people of a new chapter release on this page. You may do so on the Fan Fiction page.
I’m starting to read the hunger games… and trying to read the hobbit. reading spirit animals 2 hunted, star friends, wolves of the beyond, the book of stolen dreams.
That’s a lot of books. The only one’s I’ve read are The Hunger Games and The Hobbit. Both excellent in their own way but very different in tone.
oooo I have read Wolves of the Beyond but not the last book and I am begging my mom to get it for me T-T
The Hunger Games is really good, I need to reread it again. I remember reading The Hobbit a long time ago, in fourth grade, when I didnβt really understand it completely. I should reread both of those.
Enjoy!! I’ve read most The Hunger Games (very nearly done with Mockingjay and starting TBOSAS). i hope you like it!
Has anyone read The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo? I just finished and it’s amazinggg! Id highly recommend :DD
it does have some vague sexual scenes though ^^
i have!! it is very very good c:
repost cuz page flip
any recommendations for a 14 year old that likes mystery and action? romance is fine, but only if it’s done well and not too much
Maybe the Nancy Drew series?
the A Good Girlβs Guide to Murder series, maybe? it might sound cringey but it’s really really good! I’m reading the second book now π
Buried :p
Iβm planning to go to the library with my mom tomorrow (or should I say today? Itβs 12:07am here) and Iβm debating which books I should try and get! Hereβs the list of books Iβm aiming for already:
β The Cruel Prince (Folk Of the Air) (thanks for the recommendation Silvs it sounds amazing)
β Wind (Warriors)
β The Count Of Monte Christo
β Voice of Power (The Spoken Mage)
β Obscuro (The Illuminae Files)
β The Fire Eternal (The Last Dragon Chronicles)
β The Testing
β Eragon (The Inheritance Cycle)
– The Inheritance Games
Any other recommendations? I like any kind of fantasy, science-fiction and sometimes romance when itβs done right! I read mostly Y/A books, and Iβm fine with swearing/gore :))
Divergent is good!
It has a hunger games vibe to it.
Scythe is a great sci-fi series, I highly recommend it!!
Ooh, I highly recommend The Inheritance Games, but it’s already on your list π The Ivies by Alexa Donne isn’t fantasy or sci-fi, it’s like a mystery or thriller but it’s amazing! And One Dark Window by Rachel Gillig I loved a lot, but there is some sexual content towards the middle/end. π
Oooh yes tell me what you think of the folk of the air if you get it!! <333
Um… i have… too many π but i deffinetle reccomend Wolves of the Beyond and and The Guardian Herd, there both good for Warrior fans!!!
I don’t exactly know the age ratings of the books, but I reccomend Margret Peterson Haddix.
I love her books!! They’re so good π What’s your favorite book by her?
I think the age rating depends on the specific book; some of her books are more suitable for older audiences while others are good for younger ones!
I really like Double Identity and Found
Those are both really good!!
The Missing series by Margaret Peterson Haddix is literally so good, highly recommended!
I like a lot of her young adult books like Uprising and Full Ride! π
I haven’t read any books but her but cool!
Does anyone have book recommendations for me? I like middle grade/young adult fantasy, mystery, science fiction, etc. Iβm okay with gore/sexual content to some degree, as long as they are not too descriptive or long.
the Young Sherlock Holmes series might be good!
Ooh, Iβve heard of that one! Iβll check it out soon, thank you π
A Good Girlβs Guide to Murder or The Folk of the Air!!
The titles sound very interesting :0 Thanks!
Yep! π i have far too many actually π
Wolves of the beyond
Horses of the Dawn
The Guardian Herd
Horse Diaries
Science Comics
Dragon Kingdom of Wrenly
Riders of the Realm
The Lost Rainforest
No Matter the Distance
A Wolf Called Wander
A Whale of the Wild
A Horse Named Sky
Katie the Catsitter
PAWS (graphic novel)
Spirit Animals
Bamboo Kingdom
Oh my π Thanks for the recommendations Emmie!
The Murder Most Unladylike series (or something like that) was a very fun younger-geared mystery series if you haven’t already read it! It got me into mystery books! It also has canon LGBTQ+ representation, although that doesn’t play a super big role for most of the books. It’s confirmed by book 5 but there are clues to it in the first book that I noticed after a reread!
Cool! Itβs awesome that it has LGBTQ+ representation :DD Thanks Jeri!
Does anyone have any book recommendations for me? I read books in the age range of 12-14, and literally any genre, though right now I’m mostly into nonfiction, memoirs, mystery, dystopian, thrillers, contemporary, fantasy, and science/historical fiction. I’m fine with violence/gore, romance (as long as it’s not only about the romance), and swearing, and don’t mind sexual content as long as it’s not descriptive and not too… icky.
Just to give an idea of what I read, my favourite books include:
– One of Us is Lying
– The Words We Keep
– The Hunger Games
– Harry Potter
– A Tale of Magic… series (the prequel to the Land of Stories series, which I haven’t actually read yet lol)
– The Wild Robot (+ The Wild Robot Escapes)
– The Lunar Chronicles (I’ve only read Cinder, but still :P)
And some books I’m getting soon:
– Divergent
– Renegades
– The Land Of Stories
– Scythe
– We Were Liars
– Folk of The Air (The Cruel Prince)
Thank you so much!
I forgot to mention, but I also like books that are darker and deal with heavier topics (not inappropriate, just ones that require more thought)
Ooh, I mostly read the same genres as you! Definitely recommend How We Fall Apart by Katie Zhao or The Ivies by Alexa Donne. They are pretty similar and both have tiny little romance subplots (sorta. It’s definitely not centered around it tho) Both of them are school/teen problems + a murder on school campus. It’s a mystery/thriller. I also recommend The Inheritance Games series. The genre is mystery and it’s definitely worth a try. Untwine by Edwidge Danticat is also good for realistic fiction and it definitely covers heavier topics like grief and is described as a “genuinely moving exploration of the pain of separation”, but it might be a bit slow to those who love action and is not for everyone, but I personally loved it.
oop that was longer than I intended it to be π
I was legit gonna suggest Renegades until I saw your TBR list π Have you read Shadow and Bone? I haven’t read that book in a while but it is a good one :))
EDIT: Oh! Have you read I Am Number Four? I’m currently reading it and it’s really good π
you would probably like the Inheritance games or the testing!
Enjoy Folk of the Air ccc:
Oh my gosh you’ve read The Words We Keep I am ascending I have never been so happy.
aNyWay.
Keeper of the Lost Cities by Shannon Messenger. Hilarious and it does have some darker themes. It’s also a pretty long series. There’s 9.5 books (don’t question it) and they get pretty thick.
Aru Shah (the Pandava Quintet) by Roshani Chokshi. Once again, absolutely hysterical. It doesn’t shy away from issues that require some thought, but it’s middle-grade.
A Darker Shade of Magic by V.E. Schwab. It does have some language, but the magic system is so good. And the plot is great, I love this book.
Six of Crows by Leigh Bardugo. My favorite book. It has language and violence and it absolutely has darker themes and things that require thought. And it’s a heist! But they do it as a family <33
Has anyone read Out Of My Mind by Sharon Draper? It’s what im reading rn <3
a very long time ago, yes!
I love that book! It’s so sweet <3
I loved that book. So much so Iβve started reading its sequel, Out Of My Heart. Very well written books.
I have! Itβs very good π
No I haven’t! What’s it about?
A ten-year-old girl with cerebral palsy has to overcome her disability of not being able to move, talk, or pretty much do anything, while also being integrated into mainstream classes/courses and realizing just how judgmental and mean other kids can be. I highly recommend you read it!
That sounds so cool!! I have a feeling it’s going to be one of those books that are sad but wholesome at the same time (like Wonder).
I finished the Folk of the Air series today! I absolutely loved it, I’m definetly putting it on my list of books I need to buy for myself and not get from the library everytime I want to read them π
Ooh, what’s it about? π
YAYYY I’m so glad you liked it!!! It’s my favourite book series! Who’s your favourite character?
have anyone read explorer academy books i have they’re great!!!
no but i have the first one and i’ve heard they’re really good!!!!
YES they were my obsession a year ago, they are sooooooooo good and I’ve never met someone else who reads them aghfdsjklklj *squeals incomprehensibly for a minute* Who’s your favourite character? I love Sailor and Lani! Emmet’s awesome too, and Bryndis before… you know… (I still like her though)
I haven’t! What’s it about?
any book suggestions for a 13-year-old who loves reading books (fantasy, any animal books)? ((No swearing or any sexual content)) I’m a bit bored after reading every single Warrior cat book lol, and I CAN NOT SURVIVE WITHOUT READING AT LEAST ONE BOOK EVERY DAY XD
maybe try reading the other Erin’s books? personally my favourite is Bravelands, other than warriors ofc
read all of erin hunter’s other books xD
Folk of the Air!!
Iβd suggest Keeper of the Lost Cities!
– Foxcraft by Inabli Iserles is a great mash-up of fantasy and animals! It featuress foxes with magical abilities.
– If you haven’t read Wings of Fire I’d also do so. It’s from the POV of dragons and there are 15 books so far so you won’t run out quickly! The first few centre around a great war and the young dragons prophesied to stop it.
– I also really enjoyed the Endling trilogy by Katherine Applegate, about a creature trying to find out if she’s the last of her species.
– I remember really enjoying the Companions quartet by Julia Golding, about people who can bond to all sorts of mythical creatures.
– Song of the Summer King by Jess E Owen is a quartet all about Gryphons and wolves! I really enjoyed them- they focus on a young gryphon called Shard as he tries to navigate a world of conquerors, dragons and prophecies.
I read all WoF books until The Brightest Night, but for some reaason my mom said I can’t read the others until I’m 15, and I read the Endling trilogy a few months ago and loved it! ^^ and I’m going to try to find Foxcraft at my library!
Star Wars by Timothy Zahn! It’s a sequel to movies 4, 5 and 6, and it’s A LOT better than movies 7, 8 and 9! And it has 1200 pages so you can read it for a long time!
which warrior books are the ones you can only read online?
has anyone read the house of the scorpion? I really liked it π
