Housekeeping Rules
- Include content warnings if necessary! This can be things like graphic violence, death, sexual content, etc. If you wouldn’t recommend it to a young kid without warning them what’s coming, then include content warnings!
- Try to keep non-book chatter out of this page! It can be redirected to the Tavern.
- Try to keep Warrior Cats chatter out of this page! We’re here to highlight books aside from the cats we know and love, so you can head over to the Sunning Patch or the Elder’s Den to discuss Warrior Cats!
- Fanfiction recommendations are allowed but fanfiction advertisements are not! This means that while you can recommend someone or your own fanfiction to other people, you cannot announce or remind people of a new chapter release on this page. You may do so on the Fan Fiction page.

Has anybody read the Waterfire Saga? I know Lil has because she mentioned in a book recs post once…i read the first book, Deep Blue, a while ago last summer and it was awesome, the one I got never said it was a series though!:D i thought the term waterfire sounded familiar and found out it was part of a series a couple months ago, and am !considering reading the next two books soon!!!
i’ve read it!!! i remember i liked the premise, but the writing was a little dry to me :p but i thought their powers based on region was cool!!
I’ve read it!! It’s really good, highly recommend reading the rest of the series 😀
Anyone else read Never Trust a Gemini in October and is still waiting to buy the second book which came out about a week ago
For someone who likes both fantasy and romance books, what book would you recommend? For example, I really liked the Twilight series.
I’m not usually a massive fan of romance in my books, but some books with heavy romance elements that I enjoyed were Sabriel by Garth Nix, which follows a young necromancer, and Cemetery Boys by Aiden Thomas which follows a boy as he falls in love with a ghost!
although i’m not a fan of romance books, Cemetery boys sounds good!
Yeah, I’m not normally a fan either but Cemetery boys was just really sweet and wholesome! The main character is trans as well, which isn’t something I often see in books so it was a nice change of pace!
If you’re looking for trans rep, books like Meet Cute Diaries and Hell Followed With Us are good ones! I’ve only read the former but my best friend REALLY loved Hell Followed With Us
Funnily enough, I’ve just finished reading that myself! I really enjoyed it too!
Oh, great! I think they’re going to make me read it now…
Be aware that it does have some pretty mature themes surrounding religion and trauma and a lot of body horror/gore! If you’re not comfortable with that, I wouldn’t read it.
The Buried and the Bound series is a good one! It’s supposed to be a trilogy, and the third one should be coming out soon. There’s romance and fantasy/witch stuff.
Lots of people here mention Six of Crows as one of their favorite books. What kind of story is it? Why might I like it?
Six of Crows is a duology that is part of the “Grishaverse”, a world created by Leigh Bardugo where people have different powers and all types of things like that. In the duology, six teenagers have to pull off a heist and then save a friend from a mean guy. There is romance, but the well-written version, and the books are generally meant for older audiences (there are some more mature topics, but they’re good to include for representation and it gives weight to the story). Basically, very well-written, clever books — they’re a bit dark, especially the second one, just to warn you. Definitely recommend them though.
I’d say the heist plot is very well done; Bardugo does a great job at building tension. I’m always a sucker for found-family shenanigans, and she writes some great bonds between the characters. Kaz Brekker (the main character) is one of the most interesting characters in YA fiction I’ve ever seen – I like his cunning nature, his intelligence, and his adaptability.
A lot of people (me included) get tripped up with the first chapter/prologue because it features a side character and is generally not too interesting. It’s only, like, 4 pages (the chapters are quite short), but I’ve noticed a lot of people refused to continue because it starts off so awkwardly. If it’s giving you trouble, you could try starting with the second chapter and going back to the first if you’d like. You also don’t need to read her other books to understand this one.
Anyone can recommend me any book series you like to read?
What age range do you read? And what things are you comfortable with/not comfortable with reading?
I JUST finished Lost stars! It was soo good <3 I am currently a bunch of pages in the silent thaw and im super hyped to start veil of shadows ^^
