I’m currently reading a series of unfortunate events. I finished the first book and I LOVED IT!!!! I really recommend the series
I remember in fifth grade one of my classmates making a book report on the first book, and from what I paid attention to (I have a short attention span), it was a pretty good book! This comment is even more proof that it’s a good book, so I’ll be checking it out soon!
yes it’s AWESOME!!! i read all the books in 5th grade, i loved them so much i was reading one a day 😆
I had to read the first book for English this year, it was pretty funny, but oh my god, it gets DARK.
The TV show of really good too! It’s accurate (but the movie isn’t)
Series of Unfortunate Events is amazing! 🙂
I ship Quiglet and Kladora
So… I was bored, so I thought i’d tell y’all some of my favorite books outside of warriors (I read these books when I was 8-10, so I’d say they are mainly for 8-12 yo, but anyone can read them). Now without further ado, lets talk about books!
#1: Harry Potter. I mean, this series is just so iconic so I don’t think I need to explain why I like it but still (I’m gonna bc that’s what I do). I love this because it’s entertaining pretty much from start to finish, and I like my books to have action really quickly, so I like that. I also love how Rowling managed to make a whole world (the wizarding world), from her books, and the plot is great too. Overall I love this series, tho I disagree with some of the romances, and I do think that some of the books could’ve been shorter
#2: Hunger Games: Idk really know why I love the series, but I just do. Again it’s a series that is pretty much nonstop action, which is what I love, and it has one of my fave fictional characters of all time (Hermione is up there with Katniss tho). I also like how it shows a strong female fighter (like me/s), and also how Katniss is just such an interesting character, as well are the rest. Snow, Haymitch, and Coin are some other ppl in that book who i think are really intersting. I really like Ballard of Songbirds of Snakes too.
#3: WOF. I know a lot of people like this series, and though I don’t love love it I think it’s worth mentioning, bc it is similar to warriors, so I think ppl interested in warriors will also like this series. This I read when I was a bit younger, but I still like it. I’m not gonna explain too much why I like it tho
#4: Skandar. This is one I read a few months ago, and I just LOVED it for some reason. It is again, nonstop action, and it’s just great. I like that you can relate to the characters, and I cant really explain why I love it, but I just do idk why. I just finished the 3rd book of this series, Chaos Trials, and I am very mad that I have to wait till October for book 4.
Overall I love all of these books, and highly recommend them, though I would say in hunger games, there is violence as well as killing, so if you want to read them just know that (sry I know this is really long, but I hope you enjoy these books if you choose to read them, and enjoyed my essay on them :p)
Ooh, another Skandar fan (and another Lilypaw 😝)!!!! I’m about to read the Chaos Trials right now; I’m bursting from excitement I’ve been waiting for agesssss 😃😃😃😃😃😃😃
WAIT, BOOK 4 IS COMING IN OCTOBER??!?!?!!!!!?!!??? :OOOO That’s so much sooner than normal!!!! 😃😁 On the side note, do you want to be friends?? You seem like a really nice person, and you read all the same books as me 😛
Those series are great! (WoF is my favorite 😀 )
I’ve read all those except Skandar 🙂
I want to recommend my favourite trilogy; the Circle, by Sara Bergmark Elfgren and Mats Strandberg. The books are: The Circle, Fire and The Key. The books are young-adult fantasy novels.
One night when the moon turns red, six teenage girls find themselves in an abandoned folk park drawn there by a mysterious force. They are “The Chosen Ones”, a group of witches with magical powers and must learn to work together despite their differences to save the world. They have nothing in common, but without each other, they will not survive.
In addition to the fantasy theme, the novel also uses tropes of horror fiction, psychological realism and the unreliable narrator.
Content warning: I would say 13+, you can read it if you’re younger, but it has death, suicide, and mild sexual content.
That actually sounds really interesting! Not the biggest witch-related fan myself but I’ll search it up and see what I find
I read a romantic comic (I’m so proud)!
I’ve started reading/watching many romantic novels/movies etc but I never finished any so I’m proud to announce I just finished a comic series named Heartstopper!
At first I only read it bc it had lgbt characters and when I read it I kinda liked.
Tbh I thought of quitting when it started to be to cheesy and romantic but I found comfort in the background chars who I rlly liked (the lesbeans were cute and the trans girl was great).
The basic lore is that two boys meet become friends and fall in love (I did not copy that from the back cover).
Definitely recommend but I have to say that there are some adult stuff going on.
Edit: why is this so long
Heartstopper is an EXCELLENT comic series, I have all five comics! Have you considered watching the show? It’s very well done and better than the comics in some places (because the author, Alice Oseman, was in charge of the scriptwriting, most likely). It’s on Netflix!
I would personally recommend Ashlords by Scott Reintgen. The book follows three protagonists as they ride in the Scorpio Races, a dangerous ride upon Phoenix Horses, which are created through alchemy. There are three unique POVs that give us a true understanding of shy the Scorpio Races exist. The underdog, Imelda, and the rebellious Adrian are both wonderfully written characters from the third person standpoint. However, I believe that Reintgen made a shockingly good decision when he made Pippa, the wealthy aristocrat, in second person. For those who don’t know, third person uses “he, she, it, they, etc.” while second person uses “you.” This is monumental because usually, even with third person, we wouldn’t want to read about the aristocrats who already have everything they could ever want. However, Reintgen uses second person for Pippa’s point of view to add a second layer of depth. Now, the readers must feel what Pippa felt from within herself on a greater level than first person or third person could do. Aside, the writing and world building is well done, and I would recommend this novel! (Note: This book contains some violence, but it isn’t anything too bad. Think: Hunger Games level.)
I remember reading a book about something similar; it was called “The Scorpio Races” by Maggie Stiefvater (sorry if I spelt that wrong). I will definitely read Ashlords; it sounds super awesome!!! 😀
Sounds really interesting! I think I’ll try it; it sounds similar to another book I read about horses (The Scorpio Races)! 😀
Recommendations!
The Remnant Chronicles (14+ for violence and romance, political intrigue fantasy)
The Cursebreaker Trilogy (16+ for violence and suggestive content, mainly in the third book, Beauty and the Beast retelling)
Four Kingdoms (12+, fairytale retellings, cute clean romance)
The Selection (13+, dystopian romance)
To Kill A Kingdom (15+ for graphic violence, standalone with incredible writing)
A Thousand Heartbeats (14+, SO GOOD, one of my favorite romances ever, the writing is amazing)
Daughter of the Pirate King (15+, female-empowering pirate fantasy)
Sarah Dessen romances (15+, look up the trigger warnings, but so so good 😍)
I love To Kill A Kingdom! It’s one of my favorite books! 😀
Same here! It was such a good read and the characters were so intriguing. Madrid and Kye were so fun.
I LOVE the selection!! It’s one of my favorite series and it has my second favorite book boyfriend in it 😛
Who’s your first favourite 😛 /lh
I just finished reading Lore by Alexandra Bracken and… wow. Just wow.
I’ve read Lore, I thought it was okay, but I wasn’t too fond of the protagonist, she felt a little bit soulless to me, idk why.
The way she did the Greek mythology though, amazing, that was really interesting
finally got The Priory of the Orange Tree! it’s a whopping 804 pages, and i’m like 80 pages in. one tenth!!
so far i love the writing style. something i appreciate is that the reason the two people groups (the east and west) don’t like each other is because of cultural differences. it’s not “oh, we just hate each other and it’s always been this way,” there’s a reason for it
the characters are intriguing. i love Ead already. i’m interested in where Tanè’s story goes. and Loth, though i haven’t seen him a lot yet.
i’ve heard there’s romance so i’m trying to figure out which characters it is lol
anyway, super excited for this book. the maps and art is absolutely stunning, the writing style is amazing, so far the world building is on point, all around just seems like an exciting read!
cool! :DD
That’s a fantastic book, I hope you continue to enjoy it!
i saw your recommendation, and that’s why i’m reading it!! 😀
so thanks for that :))
Ahh yay!! That great, I’m super glad to hear that 😀
Am I the only one disappointed in the KotLC graph novel?
I never read at it 😝 but I get what your saying. The graphic novel struck me as… slightly lackluster, too. It honestly could’ve been a lot better. You’re not alone 😁
i was also disappointed. the art style was honestly atrocious. at one point fitz looked like he had…. Seen Things, to say the least. everything looked blocky. and it wasn’t even all of the first book
Ohhhhh I am too 😛 I saw it at a local bookstore and had a look through it, and . . . the characters had bland expressions, even at emotional moments, and the posing and framing of the comic wasn’t engaging either. Comics, I feel like, should be very lush and animated to capture their readers’ interest. There’s so many panels back-to-back that have no movement or variety in the background, posing, and expressions. In the scene where Sophie and Fitz knock each other out, when they hit each other and rebounded, it didn’t look like they had any impact on each other at all! Arrgghhhhh 😛
I usually don’t read the graphic novels for anything, they usually disappoint me 😛 i’m usually only satisfied with the original :p
same
Have any of y’all read the Cruel Prince???? I’ve seen it around the local bookstore a lot, and it looks really cool… should I read it???
I liked it, it had a good story but there’s a lot of sexual content in the second and third books of the trilogy, so you should probably read the reviews
i wouldn’t say there’s a lot- you definitely know it’s happening but it only happened once or twice and nothing is described in detail. it takes up maybe a page or two. relatively low spice
I read it a couple of weeks ago, on the recommendation of someone here. And I just started reading The Wicked King a few days ago. I basically agree with Cinders: there may not be a lot of sexual stuff in this book but what there is is pretty detailed. Also, quite a bit of violence. I’d say 14+.
i adore it. i love the story, plot, and characters. it’s such an intriguing series. the romance almost takes a backseat to the politics, which i kind of love
it is still enemies to lovers at its heart, however
My friend is obsessed with the books, and I hear it’s really good! Minor warning for a bit of uncomfortable romance + gore, but I think you can handle it
Yeah, you should
I have, and I loved it. Never got around to reading The Wicked King though…
YES
ITS SO GOOD
I read it not expecting much as I’m not a big romance fan, but I was somewhat pleasantly surprised! Still not massively my thing so it wasn’t my favourite, but it was a fun time.
The romance aspect of the stories doesn’t interest me that much, but it’s not separable from the politics/intrigue that are central to the plots.
Also, the romantic stuff is one of the ways characters manipulate each other to gain political power.
I’ve read it! It’s great! Also recommended to a friend and she loved it as well! But like all the other people said, it does contain a bit of violence but not that bad. It’s not heavy on the romance as its mainly on politics
I’m reading a Sonic the Hedgehog comic but I am kinda confused who all the characters are. Then again, I did start on the 16th volume. So maybe that’s why I don’t know anybody. I mean, I know Amy, Knuckles, Silver, and Sonic (and Vector the Crocodile but I had to look up the names of the other two members of Chaotix). But some of the others I haven’t heard of.
Hey everyone! I’d just like to say, the Inheritance Games is a GREAT series if you are into mystery, romance and violence. There is a few adult-themed parts in this story, so please, if you’re gonna read it, be prepared. But seriously, this series is SO good. It’s about a teenager called Avery who is randomly invited to a millionare’s funeral, and she ends up inheriting majority of his fortune, for an unclear reason. Avery and two of the rich guy’s handsome grandsons try to figure out why the guy gave Avery the fortune, and end up falling into a love triangle! Please consider reading this series, it’s full of suspense and mystery! Again, do know that there are adult themes, and a lot of violence, but other than that… well… yeah! If you read it, I hope you enjoy it.
I LOVVVVVVVVVE The Inheritance Games!!! 😀 Who’s your favourite character???
Probably✨A Very Risky Gamble✨! (Aka the main character Avery) 😄
Has anybody else read The Dreadful Tale of Prosper Redding by Alexandra Bracken?
For those of you who haven’t, it’s about a boy who learns that he is the host to an ancient malefactor, a demon-like creature that wants revenge on his family for a tragedy that happened hundreds of years ago, but when both the human world and the other worlds are endangered, the human and the malefactor must work together to save everything they care about.
It has some violence, nothing too graphic, and a some mild swearing. I would recommend it to anyone 12+
I’ve heard of it; it sound super cool!!! Will read!!! 😀
