The Hazelpage

The internet is a storm of URLs, wi-fi and strings of dangerous code, whirling and thundering. Out in the wilderness you can only survive so long unaided, but in here, behind the mellow yellow windows, a safe and comforting place awaits. This place is a respite from the internet; the fire crackles invitingly and alluring rainbow-coloured drinks are poured into glasses. Exciting chatter fills the rooms from tables bustling with friends, eating from trays of warm, rustic carum bread and hearty stews. Gentle music comes from the band in the background.

  • Lion looked around. Darkness. “Anyone brought a torch?” She asked. “Wait, never mind! I got one.” She pulled a plastic hand sized pumpkin out of her bag, and clicked its stalk, there were suddenly two red flashing lights that appeared in it’s eyes. Lion gasped when she where they were…

(I’ll let you make up where we are! 😀 I feel kinda like I’m rushing this a bit 😛 )

  • They were in a hidden room! From one of the walls came muted conversation. Were they… behind the bar? Lion glanced back at Lily. “Lily! How did we get here?! I though that this building was just… well… that. A building. With no hidden rooms.”
Lily brushed her hair out of her face. “I don’t know. Maybe the portal malfunctioned?”
Lion blinked. “Ah, Lily… what portal?”
“You mean you didn’t know about the portal?!” Lion shook her head. “That’s how we get here from BlogClan. I am no physicist, but have you noticed whenever you come here that_______________________”

Fill out what happens when you go through the portal!

    • With a quick glance around, she realized that some people who were supposed to be in the tavern were seemingly… nonexistant? Where was that new person, Lily? And wasn’t Lion supposed to be here?

  • Rainspirit collapsed through the door, tears streaming down her face.
“Oh.. StarClan… Thank StarClan I made it here…” She sobbed. “Is it really safe… from… from them?” She looked around nervously. A tiny gray kitten pranced through the door and sat by her feet, a confused look in it’s eyes.
“Oh, Featherkit! I thought I lost you!” Rainspirit scooped her up and laughed a little as Feather licked her nose. “Is there any cat food I could give her? Or a mouse or something?”

    • “Um…” Irismist was kinda confused, and a little uncomfortable. Who was she afraid of, where the Codekind back?! How could that be? Irismist racked her seer senses, but she couldn’t pick up anything unusual. What if this secret room had stopped her powers? Searching through her back for something to give to the gray kit, she felt worried, even scared. She was used to knowing more than the normal person, so with her powers not working, she felt vulnerable.

      • Featherkit walked over to Irismist and rubbed against her legs, purring. Rainspirit smiled a little.
“She likes you,” she said happily. Featherkit rolled onto her back and let out a soft little “mew.”

        • Pulling off a piece of a turkey sandwich that just so happened to be in her bag, Irismist bent down and set the piece of turkey in front of Featherkit, running her hand over the kittens’ soft fur. As she stood back up, she warily turned to Rainspirit. Not bothering to introduce herself, she quickly and anxiously asked, “Who is it that you are afraid of?” Not wanting to scare the already shaken girl anymore, Iris gave her a reassuring smile, but her heart wasn’t in it. Her hands deftly searching through her bag for thyme, she anxiously awaited the answer.

  • Lion looked at Fawny sympathetically, “Are you ok?” She gasped, “I might have some useful and somewhat medical stuff in my bag!” She added, quickly pulling her bag off her back, and tearing open the zip. “Here’s a Halloween-y witch-y cape, you could maybe wrap it around your wrist?”

    • Turning in place, Irismist walked toward the girl, Fawny. Her hands once again in her black bag, she pulled out some wide green leaves and a long roll of white gauze. Placing the leaves on Fawny’s wrist and wrapping it securely with the gauze, Irismist’s mind was with Rainspirit. Focusing on the girl’s wrist, Iris stared through the dim light at the now-gauze wrapped arm. Iris squeezed her eyes shut, and felt the familiar sensation on tingling and mini zips as magical healing purple sparks enveloped the gauze. Removing her hands from Fawny, Iris knew that the magic would help the pain and make the broken wrist heal faster, but not heal it completely. Iris looked up at Fawny’s face, smiling. Turning back to Rainspirit, Iris felt exhausted. That small bit of magic had been almost impossible to preform, and Iris still couldn’t see farther than the room. What was preventing Iris’s magic?

  • “Hey…” Brightwing said suddenly, forgetting that she was embarrassed, while everyone under the trapdoor looked curiously at the pumpkin’s glowing eyes, “this isn’t just a hole! It’s a tunnel! Why don’t we see where it leads?”

“It’s dangerous,” a raspy voice answered. “And anyway, I’m not supposed to let you.”

Everyone looked around in confusion and fear, and then they heard laughter.

    “It’s me you idiots!”

Brightwing squeaked involuntarily as she realized who had spoken. It was Lion’s pumpkin lamp…

  • Blueheart opened her eyes groggily. She must have hit her head on something on the way down. She awoke in a pitch black tunnel. “Hello?” She called.

  • Iris jerked her head quickly. She had sworn that she heard someone calling out. Taking a step into the gloom, Iris stubbed her toe on something in the dark. Wincing in pain and hopping on one foot, Irismist called into the depths of cavern, “Anyone there?”

      • “It’s Lily, Lion, Iris, and… come out of the shadows, Shadowedpaw. I assure you, Blue won’t hurt you… Ah! And there’s Brightwing. Wow, it got crowded down here!” Suddenly, Lily narrowed her eyes at the crowd. Alarm lit her gaze. With a frantic look around, she realized…

        “Where is Flowerpaw?”

  • “Wait” Irismist whispered to Flowerpaw. “I defidently heard something.” Irismist peered into the darkness as she stepped further and further away from the group and the light of the pumpkin. The cavern was damp and dark. As her eyes became adjusted to the gloom, she saw a split in the path. Iris saw an erect shape, standing in the left tunnel. “Hello?” She called down the dark tunnel. “I know you are in there. My name is Irismist, and I was wondering…” Iris broke off. She didn’t want to offend whoever was there, but she didn’t know what else to say. Continuing, “I was wondering if you needed help finding the others.” She finished. As a second thought, Iris lit up her hands in a purple glow, so the girl would be able to see her face, and so Iris could see the girl.

  • Blue glanced at Lion. “I’m fine.” She brushed herself off. “We can continue. Can you fill me in on what happened while I was out?”

    • “Well, Rainspirit came in crying about something crazy that was going on upstairs. She was all worked up and asking if these secret tunnels were safe from ‘them’.” Iris felt slightly exasperated, but was hiding it well. She still hadn’t found out who “they” were, and she was wondering if she should abandon the adventure to check upstairs. “Fawny also hurt her wrist but I think she’s okay. Oh, and there’s a talking pumpkin thrown somewhere in the mix” she paused for a breath, “But that’s not important. What’s important, first off, is are you actually okay?” Iris didn’t want to invade the newcomer’s space, but even in the dark she could tell that there was a nasty bruise on her head. Trying to be subtle as she aimed the tingling purple light from her fingers toward the girl’s head, Iris continued, “By the way, you haven’t told us what your name is.” Now the sparks had reached the bruise, and were already reducing to a distant shimmer as they worked to stop the bump from getting any larger.

      • Blue knocked Iris’s hand away and snarled at her. “Thanks for the update. And I am perfectly fine thank you very much.” She glared at Iris, daring the girls to speak.

      • “There IS something going on. I have no idea what, but there’s a bunch of black things and they did this to me.” Rainspirit lifted her hair to reveal a pulsating black scar, with veins of black branching out from it. Featherkit nudged her ankle and looked up with a worried meow.

        • Irispaw gasped, but pretended to turn it into a cough when she saw the others look at her. “Who else is upstairs? Is anyone else hurt?” she managed to say to Rainspirit. Picking up Featherkit, Iris tried to push her worries away.

          • “I don’t think anyone’s up there. I did see a bunch of cats, though. That’s where I picked up Featherkit. A cat came up to me- I SWEAR she looked like Spottedleaf- and dropped Featherkit at my feet right before I managed to escape,” Rainspirit said. She put her hair down and sat on a nearby chair, a thoughtful look on her face. “It couldn’t have been Spottedleaf, though. She died saving Firestar…” She frowned thoughtfully, focusing on a spot on the floor.
