The Hazelpage

The internet is a storm of URLs, wi-fi and strings of dangerous code, whirling and thundering. Out in the wilderness you can only survive so long unaided, but in here, behind the mellow yellow windows, a safe and comforting place awaits. This place is a respite from the internet; the fire crackles invitingly and alluring rainbow-coloured drinks are poured into glasses. Exciting chatter fills the rooms from tables bustling with friends, eating from trays of warm, rustic carum bread and hearty stews. Gentle music comes from the band in the background.

  • Wollow spotted Emberfang being dragged away by an alien. “Umm… umm… Allen wrench?” She turned the alien into an allen wrench, but fell off the ceiling. “Hmm… living creatures might be a bit extreme and I might accidentally get something lost in the weird tears in the fourth wall. What the heck is the fourth wall? Will it give me my oreos back?”

  • Iceflower lunged for the space-cat thingy and grabbed it by the tail, accidentally lighting said tail on fire. “You’d better run!” She snapped, trying to pin it down. She tripped over a fallen book and stumbled, releasing the cat in order to keep herself from falling. She reached for her bag and, using a small flame as light, found a candle and lit it. She made her way over to Emberpaw and blasted flames at the alien’s back. “Let go of my friend!”

  • Iceshard shot Ice into the space cat’s eyes. The cat screamed and released Shadowpaw in order to wipe it out of her eyes. Ice motioned Shadowpaw to follow him. Once they were hidden, Iceshard pulled out a maroon colored potion. “Shadowpaw, have you had one of these yet?”

  • Lionpaw pulled out a deck chair, obviously some sunglasses / shades, and a few pints of lemonade. She carefully put on her shades, found a nice spot to place down her chair, sat down on it in the corner of the Time Bubble. Taking a sip from a 2 pint lemonade bottle, she could clearly see something was missing, “What is missing? There must be something.” She said to herself. She thought. And though. And though. “Aha! Sand!” She finally said to herself. Dragging a tonne of sand from her backpac, she began to empty it around her deck chair. “That’s more like it!” She said outloud, before settling herself down with a good book (Warriors) and ignoring all the commotion around her.

    • After chasing three more aliens out with the threat of her inky clouds, she ambles over to Lionpaw, pulls out a beach towel and sits down next to her. “nice day isn’t it?” she says as she watches the aliens run from her floating pool of darkness around the room.

      • “Wonderful! I’m must say, time for some British tea!” She pulled out a can of tea from her bag, before rewarming it over one of Emberpaw’s lone flames.”Ahh… these days are great!” Before picking up the pot of tea and sipping it from a china teacup and chatting to Darkpaw.

  • Emberpaw chugged down another potion. “Tastes… I dunno.” He snapped his fingers to see what would happen. Suddenly, everything and everyone floated up to the ceiling. “Ooh, gravity powers!”

    • Asterpaw nodded eagerly, while trying to swim down from the ceiling. She grabbed a floating pale blue potion and sipped it. “This tastes like hummus!” she exclaimed incredulously. “How is that possible?”
She then snapped her fingers, and there was a loud poof. Everyone stared down at at the floating Asterpaw, who was now an iguana. With another poof, she became her regular self and grinned. “Shapeshifting powers. Now that’s way better than clones!”

    • “Oh dangit I want that,” Wavepaw grumbled, grabbing the bottle from his hands and gulping the rest down before floating up in midair. “Ooh yay, a bucket list item! Flying, check.”

  • Iceflower glared at Darkpaw and Lionpaw from the ceiling. “Guys! Focus!” She snapped. “No time for relaxing!” She grasped a shelf on the wall and lowered herself halfway down, hanging on with one hand and blasting an alien with the other.

Then she kicked it in the face, for good measure.

    • Sighs “Fine.” Gets up, stretches, and black inky clouds swirl around her. With a flick of her wrist she sends them off in random directions, where they find and alien and begin to chase them. One the darkness catches them, it consumes them, sending them floating to the ceiling. She gives a nod, then plops back down onto the sandy ‘beach’

    • Lionpaw shook her head, “I like it here. I mean – There’s pink milk… AND sand, deck chairs, ect. Who needs to fight aliens with this beach around?” She fell back onto a pile of random cushions that had appeared.

  • Emberpaw scanned the room. “Two aliens and one Bowser left,” he remarked. The other aliens’ bodies floated eerily midair, unconscious or dead.

  • “I CALL TURQUOISE DUDE,” Wavepaw yelled at the top of her lungs, before running and jumping into the air and floating with her gravity powers, straddling it and dousing it with waves. Then she punched it in the face and it floated up like the others.

  • Wollow casually walked through midair, yawning. She walked into a table. “Oops. Hey, if I get something lost in weird rips in fourth wall and stuff doing this, sorry!” She turned the other alien into an allen wren, losing a table and three chairs in the process, along with a muffin, a jar of mayo, and a 32-pack of crayons.

  • “Gah!” Emberpaw shouted as a fireball scorched his sleeve. His scream suddenly reactivated gravity, slamming everything back onto the floor, making everyone gasp a loud “oof!”

    • “Well. Thanks, Ember,” Wavepaw growled sarcastically, rubbing the unlucky leg she had fallen on.

    • “Sor-” Iceflower’s yell was quickly turned into a shriek as she dropped to the floor like a dead weight, landing painfully on her side. “Nhh. . . Ow.” She grunted, pushing herself up.

  • Lionpaw smiled. It was Halloween FINALLY. “ALIENS!! ITS HALLOWEEN, LET THERE BE A RANDOM TRUCE FOR NO REASON (EXCEPT HALLOWEEN)!” She took out handfuls of sweets from her bag and threw it around the room, “Let them eat sweets!” She spoke, still lying in her deck chair.

    • Iceflower hurled a fireball towards Lionpaw’s chair, burning a nearby bookshelf. “Get up and help!” She snapped, launching a string of flames at an alien.

      • Lionpaw sighed, “Fine.” She picked up an ashy book, hurled it at an alien, before collapsing again in her back-up deckchair (a flashy red and white one to be exact).
