Spiritflight and Coralpaw discuss ships from the series.
Fallowpaw defends Appledusk.
Applebreeze padded over with Snow in her mouth. Longstep followed with Blossom. After the battle, the cats had trudged back to camp, and although they should have felt victorious, they felt anything but. Stormfang looked really down. He regrets what he did, Applebreeze thought. I think we all did things we will regret tonight. Suddenly, Snow let out a wail. “I want Flower!” she wailed. “Shhh, it’s all right,” Applebreeze said, “we’re taking you to a place where you will get warm, and eat.” This seemed to calm Snow down. “Will Flower and Fern be there?” she asked. Longstep and Applebreeze exchanged glances “Who is Fern?” Longstep asked. “She is our sister” Blossom replied. Applebreeze turned to Longstep “She is probably dead if we didn’t see her” she whispered “Most likely” Longstep agreed. They turned back to the kits. “Flower and Fern are dead. You won’t see them for a long, long time. I’m sorry.” The look on Snow’s face broke her heart.
“Come on, we know someone who can take care of you,” Longstep said. Snow dangling limply from her jaws, Applebreeze headed for the nursery. “I told Crowstar we shouldn’t have done this! He was being greedy, and now two kits are orphaned and one was killed!” Hawkflower snarled. “No one needed to fight this battle!” her tone softened. “The poor kits they have no mother now.” “Yes, about that,” Lightdapple said, interrupting her rant. “The kits need a mother. Crowstar asked if you could take care of them” “ever since Lilykit and Stormkit…” he broke off. The clan was still mourning for Lilykit and Stormkit, Hawkflower’s kits, both of whom had been born dead. “Of course I will,” Hawkflower responded. “I still have milk, and the poor kits do need a mother. Bring them in.”
Hawkflower lay with Snow and Blossom at her belly “What’s you names?” she asked “Blossom” Blossom answered, “Snow” Snow muttered thinking about what Appleblossom had said. “Well, I’m Hawkflower, and from now on till you are apprentices you’ll be Blossomkit and Snowkit” she purred to cheer up the small she-kits. “How old are you?” “Four moons” Blossom mewed happily. The kits fell asleep as they thought of what just happened. “Crowstar! We’ve gone to far now.. The kits’ mother and sister are dead! What are we supposed to do?” Applebreeze hissed at her leader angrily. “Applebreeze! There is nothing that we can do! Leave my sight!” (we already did; srry Jayfeather meme) Applebreeze trotted out with her head low, she looked to StarClan, Silverpelt shined brightly. I better sleep she thought, she went to the warrior’s den to sleep, hoping that the Clan would be alright…

The next day Snowkit and Blossomkit went out of the nursery and saw Gorsekit and Swiftkit playing moss ball. “Hi!” Blossomkit purred, “Can we play?” she asked. “No!” the light gray tom with darker stripes and green eyes hissed “You’re not Clan-born!” Swiftkit hissed again. Gorsekit was a brown with darker brown stripes and green eyes, he hissed at them then went back to playing with his brother.
(You can add anything, they should become apprentices soon though, being a kit starts them off boring and not much can happen while they’re stuck at camp…)
AAAAAahhhhh! I am so sorry for not responding. I started a bit of the first chapter and I think it will fit onto Clock’s (sorry do you have a nickname) bottom part of the first chapter. I will post it later today! 🙂
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The next day there was a fresh layer of snow coating the moors.
“Blossomkit! C’mon! You are so lame!”, complained Snowkit.
“It’s not my fault I don’t like the cold!”, retorted Blossomkit as she burrowed into her mother’s warm brown belly fur.
“You’re never going to be a true WindClan warrior if you can’t deal with the cold!”, taunted Snowkit, diving so deep into the snow that her dark gray fur was hardly visible in the white snow.
“Go on Blossomkit, you’ve been in the nursery for too long! Now get out and play with your sister!”, urged Hawkflower, Snowkit and Blossomkit’s mother.
“Fine”, grumbled Blossomkit.
“Yes!”, cheered Snowkit,” The bear has come out of hibernation!”
“Haha”, mumbled Blossomkit.
As they ran out into the camp, a patrol came back saying that they ran into kittypets.
“Oh well”, acknowledged Blossomkit.
I’m glad I live in a clan, thought Snowkit. Clearing her mind, she returned to the task at hand: exploring!
“Come on, let’s go exploring!”, exclaimed Snowkit, running over to the entrance to the burrow where the warriors sleep.
“Should we really be doing this?”, questioned Blossomkit,” We definitely aren’t supposed to go in there.”
“It’s okay! We’ll be fine”, assured Snowkit as she peeked into the burrow.
“Ew, it smells in there”, complained Blossomkit, wrinkling her nose.
“Be a warrior!”, commanded Snowkit, “Crowstar goes down here!”
“Whatever”, sighed Blossomkit. The two kits crawled into the tunnels.
“Wow, this is so much bigger than I imagined”, said Snowkit in awe.
“Enh, it still smells too dirt-y. I feel like the walls are going to collapse on me”, shuddered Blossomkit.
“Woah, come over here. This must be where Crowstar sleeps”, whispered Snowkit.
“Really? It’s kinda weird that you are that obsessed with Crowstar”, said Blossomkit, rolling her eyes.
“Hey, I’m not obsessed with him, I just want to be the leader!”, argued Snowkit, walking around Blossomkit.
“Hey! Where are you going?”, cried Blossomkit.
“I’m going… to do this!”, yelled Snowkit, pushing Blossomkit into Crowstar’s nest.
“Eek!”, squeaked Blossomkit tumbling onto the nest.
“Attack!”, yelled Snowkit, diving onto Blossomkit. Snowkit batted at her sister’s back with her paws. Blossomkit reared up on her hind paws and latched on to Snowkit. They rolled all over the nest until Snowkit pinned Blossomkit on the ground.
“Haha! I’ve won!”, celebrated Snowkit, tossing pieces of the torn apart nest up in the air.
“This time!”, retorted Blossomkit.
Suddenly, they heard loud footsteps heading towards them.
“Oh no, what is that?”, whispered Snowkit.
“I don’t know, just hide, rabbit-brain”, ordered Blossomkit. The two kits hid in the back of the nest, underneath some long grassthey had unwoven.
“Hmmm, I wonder if there are any troublesome kits to punish today?”, questioned a tall skinny pale furred warrior with brown eyes.
“Shoot, it’s Longstep, the deputy”, gasped Snowkit.
“Just be quiet”, hissed Blossomkit.
“Aha!”, cried Longstep, parting the grass, revealing the kits.
“Aaaaahhh!”, they shrieked.
“You shouldn’t be in here. This is for warriors only”, scolded Longstep.
“I’m going to be the leader and my sister’s gonna be the deputy!”, cried Snowkit.
“Yeah”, squeaked Blossomkit.
“Ok, if you say so”, said Longstep with a glint in his eye, thinking about how the clan would react being led by “outsiders”, ”But I don’t think Crowstar will even make you apprentices if you messed up his nest.”
“We’ll fix it! Right Blossomkit?”, assured Snowkit.
“Yep!”, agreed Blossomkit. The two kits quickly lumped all the grass in the middle.
“All done!”, cheered Blossomkit.
“Ok”, mused Longstep, “Though I hope you’re better at hunting than putting together nests.”
“Yay!”, celebrated Snowkit, ignoring Longstep’s comment, ”Let’s go!”
The two kits scampered out of the burrow and into the middle of the camp. They were about to run into the nursery but Longstep crawled out of the tunnels.
“Not so fast!”, he called to the two kits.
“You need to remember to not go into the tunnels again!”, he ordered sternly.
“Ok”, said Snowkit and Blossomkit in unison, their heads hanging low. They walked over to the nursery, discouraged.
“I am very disappointed in you. You should know better than go into the warriors’ tunnel”, scolded Hawkflower.
“We’re sorry”, mumbled Snowkit and Blossomkit.
“Good. You have to stay in the nursery for two days as punishment”, declared Hawkflower.
“What?! No fai-ok Hawkflower”, sighed Snowkit and Blossomkit after being cut off by a sharp look from their mother. The two kits sullenly walked over to the far side underneath the gorse bush and sat down, their sadness was written all over their faces.
“Haha! You have to stay in the nursery!”, cried Gorsekit and Swiftkit. They were the two other kits in the nursery. They were 5 moons old, only one moon older than Blossomkit and Snowkit. Gorsekit and Swiftkit also acted like they were the leader, which, in Snowkit’s opinion, was absolutely unbearable. They made her so mad and she felt so self-conscious when they teased her.
“Gorsekit! Swiftkit! Get over here and stop teasing them!”, ordered Dawnfeather, the mother of Gorsekit and Swiftkit. She was much nicer than her kits and had long light orange fur with beautiful blue eyes. She began licking Gorsekit’s short light brown fur with dark brown stripes and Swiftkit’s short gray fur with dark gray stripes. Their green eyes sparked with embarrassment and annoyance.
“You too!”, called Hawkflower, pulling Snowkit and Blossomkit to her belly.
“Hey!”, they began to protest but stopped, soothed by the rhythmic licks of their mother. They snuggled against each other and drifted into a deep sleep.
Blossomkit and Snowkit woke up the next day and were about to step out from under the gorse bush when they remembered their punishment.
“C’mon Snowkit, let’s just go back to sleep”, sighed Blossomkit.
Silently, Snowkit agreed. They crawled back to their mother’s belly and fell asleep.
They woke up later than sun-high and groggily decided to go get a rabbit to share. Just as they were leaving the nursery, Hawkflower stopped them.
“I don’t think you’re supposed to be going outside”, she mused.
“We’re just going to get a rabbit!”, protested Snowkit.
“Then I’ll go get it for you”, purred Hawkflower.
“Hmph”, huffed Snowkit.
Their mother Hawkflower brought back a rabbit for them to share. They eagerly took a bite out of it.
“Mmmm”, sighed Snowkit, savoring the warm meat.
Their happiness was cut short though when they saw Gorsekit and Swiftkit tumbling outside in the snow and playing with a frozen moss ball.
“Wow, Swiftkit! This moss ball is so much fun to play with!”, Gorsekit taunted.
“I know, Gorsekit! The weather outside is perfect!”, Swiftkit said in an equally as smug voice.
Hawkflower looked at her adopted kits and sighed. The whole situation was unfortunate. These kits should be out with their family, but instead, there was no family to go to. She loved her adopted kits dearly but she was worried by some of their different habits. Snowkit was very easily baited and obviously defensive at her lack of clan blood. While Blossomkit was aloof and always went along with Snowkit without a second thought unless it involved sleeping. Lightdapple wasn’t concerned but that was probably because she too was moody.
My mate is probably right, they will become strong warriors, sighed Hawkflower.
While Hawkflower was pondering her kit’s behavior, Snowkit was busy fuming. Blossomkit couldn’t be bothered by Gorsekit and Swiftkit’s antics.
I’m surprised the snow around her isn’t melting, thought Blossomkit.
Ergh, thought Snowkit.
The only thing stopping her from marching up to the two brothers and swiping those smirks off their faces was her mother’s wrath.
I wonder when Lightdapple will come back from patrol, thought Snowkit.
The two sister’s other mother, Lightdapple, always came to the nursery after mid-day to check on them and talk to Hawkflower. Snowkit looked up to Lightdapple because she was respected for her hunting.
I’m going to be the best at hunting, thought Snowkit with determination.
Blossomkit sat in the nest all day and talked to Snowkit.
Ha!, thought Blossomkit, Hawkflower is so unused to us being in the nursery all day that she’s probably gonna shorten our punishment!
And indeed, Hawkflower did seem to be losing her more patient demeanor. The only way she’d been coping was by leaving the nursery several times to go talk to Lightdapple. Hawkflower couldn’t be gone long though, as Snowkit and Blossomkit would make escape attempts every time their mother left.
By nightfall, Snowkit was tired and was about to go to sleep. Then Gorsekit and Swiftkit stumbled into the nursery and started yapping about how much fun they had had outside. Instantly, Snowkit stiffened and rolled away from them. The brothers kept talking and Snowkit had started to ignore it, but then they said something Snowkit couldn’t ignore.
“I can’t believe Crowstar said he might be my mentor!”, exclaimed Gorsekit.
“Yeah! And I bet that means Longstep is going to be my mentor!”, agreed Swiftkit.
They carried on with their conversation and moved on to other topics but Snowkit couldn’t believe that Crowstar wouldn’t be her mentor. She looked up to him and how could she become the leader if she wasn’t the leader’s apprentice.
It’s probably because I wasn’t born in WindClan, thought Snowkit bitterly.
***That night Snowkit was restless and fell asleep thinking about how she would never become leader.
***After the asterisks is what I think could really be improved. A better ending to the chapter would be nice.
🙂
sorry for any grammar/punctuation/spelling errors. after typing this I am too tired to reread it and I have started speaking in past tense. 😛
Here is a suggestion for chapter two. I think we kind of have a rhythm where I make a base for the chapter and you expand on it. Chapter two is about Snowkit meeting Mapleshade. Also, as an ending to chapter one, how about “That night as Snowkit fell asleep, she was pulled into a place no stars would ever know.”
Snowkit spent a long, restless night, wondering what she would do now. If she wasn’t going to be leader, what could she do? When she finally drifted off to sleep, she awoke in a place full of towering, rotting trees, dark shadows, and no stars in the night sky. “What am I doing here?” She wondered allowed. “Hello little one, I have seen you before. I was curious how long it would take you to join us.” A voice sounded from behind. It was kind and gentle, so Snowkit was unprepared for the sight that faced her. She was a tortoiseshell and white she-cat with amber eyes. Her fluffy fur and long tail flowing off her muscular figure. She could have been very pretty once, but she was not now. What stood out to her was the scars. Horrible, ugly, scars. “Who are you?” Snowkit asked. “Names are unimportant little one.” The stranger responded. “I know you would like to become leader. I have been watching you for many moons. “Are you a StarClan cat?” Snowkit asked. “Where I am from does not matter. I can teach you to fight better than all your clanmates, I can make you the greatest warrior there ever was.” “Can you help me be noticed?” Snowkit questioned hopefully. “Of course. As long as you swear you will do whatever it takes to do so.” The she-cat promised. “Of course I swear! I will do whatever it takes!” Snowkit exclaimed. “Then come with me. We will travel far together, you and I.”
I added on to your chapter! 😀 I didn’t add much because I really liked yours.
That night as Snowkit fell asleep, she was pulled into a place stars would never know.
Snowkit spent a long, restless night, wondering what she would do now. If she wasn’t going to be leader, what could she do? When she finally drifted off to sleep, she awoke in a place that should only exist in the nightmares of a warrior. All the trees were rotten and oozing with fungi. The shadows were darker than any Snowkit had ever seen and they loomed ominously behind the trees. But worst of all there were no stars. It was like her ancestors had abandoned her.
But they’re not my ancestors, thought Snowkit bitterly. She looked around and shivered in disgust as her paws sunk into the wet earth.
“What am I doing here?” She wondered aloud. Slowly, she saw a shadow slink out from behind one of the many rotting trees.
“Hello little one”, the voice said.
“W-who are you?” Snowkit stuttered. She could only imagine what kind of cat lived in these terrible woods.
“I have seen you before. I was curious how long it would take you to come here”, the voice sounded from behind her again. It was kind and gentle, but seemed almost sinister. Though Snowkit was naive so she brushed off any bad intentions. The kind cat was a tortoiseshell and white she-cat with amber eyes. Her fluffy fur and long tail flowing off her muscular figure. She might have been very pretty once, but Snowkit could tell that being that strong had come at a cost. What stood out to her was the scars. Horrible, ugly, scars.
“Who are you?” Snowkit asked, shaking.
“Names are unimportant little one.” The stranger responded. “I know you would like to become leader. I have been watching over you every moon you have lived.”
“Are you a StarClan cat?” Snowkit asked.
“Where I am from does not matter. I can teach you to fight better than all your clanmates, I can teach you to hunt better than all your clanmates, I can make you the greatest warrior there ever was.”
“Can you help me be noticed?” Snowkit questioned hopefully.
“Of course. As long as you swear you will do whatever it takes to do so,” the she-cat promised.
“I will!” said Snowkit with a determined look on her face.
“This means hard training. And you must never back down from a challenge, especially here”, said the tortoiseshell seriously.
“Of course I swear! I will do whatever it takes!” Snowkit exclaimed, hardly listening to what the she-cat said.
“Then come with me. We will travel far together, you and I.”
That is great! I was trying to go for a somewhat creepy and ominous tone, and I think you captured that perfectly.
Thanks! I really like your line at the end: we will travel far together, you and I. It just sums up all the creepiness and manipulation going on.
Do you think this works well for just one chapter? I think it’s okay because the dream doesn’t have to be long and it would be a good chapter start for Snowkit to have just woken up.
When I realized how short it was, I thought we could make a second part to the chapter where we have a time skip to when they are made apprentices, and Snowkit has already been training for a few moons. She could be acting differently, more aggressive and arrogant, so we could see the immediate change in behavior, and how the DF affects her.
That’s a great idea! I just checked my plot diagram thing and it go’s directly from “make deal with Mapleshade” to “become apprentices” 😛
Thanks! Here is an idea for the second half of part two. I hope it is okay. I made it at ten at night because our neighbors kept setting off fireworks. keeping me very much awake.
Blossompaw! Snowpaw! Blossompaw! Snowpaw! the clan cheered while the apprentices looked excitedly at their mentors. Snowpaw couldn’t help noticing that they were not cheering as loudly as they were when Gorsepaw and Swiftpaw were made apprentices a moon ago. They still don’t want us. And some of them are probably unhappy that Blossomkit got to be a medicine cat. Snowkit thought bitterly. Well, we’ll show them. A StarClan cat herself is training me! That makes me more important than any apprentice! It would be better if Crowstar didn’t give me the old coot Haretail that should be in the elder’s den though. How can he teach me to fight if he can’t even stay on his paws? “Come on,” Haretail said, snapping her out of her thoughts. “Today I can show you the borders. You will need to learn them if you want to become a warrior” Like you can show me anything you half-bling piece of mouse-dung! Snowpaw wanted to yowl. But she didn’t. She knew if she did she would be in serious trouble. “Come on Blossompaw, I can show you the best places to gather herbs,” called Heatherpelt. “Coming!” Blossompaw responded. As they headed off towards the medicine den, Snowpaw followed Haretail out of camp. As they got to the border Haretail told him to take a sniff. A fishy scent wafted over the border. “RiverClan?” Snowpaw guessed. “Correct!” responded Haretail. “The border is over here. You probably know that we patrol it daily. And remember, don’t pick a fight unless you have to.” That’s not true! The StarClan cat said that the borders should be red. Marked with the blood of our enemies! I am looking forward to training with her tonight instead of with an elder! Snowpaw thought. As they headed home, Snowpaw felt more resentment then ever towards Haretail, Crowstar, and all of WindClan.
haha the place where i live banned fireworks at 11 pm on the fourth of july 😛
