(Spoken, slightly upset and frustrated)
How can you not even try? They are our DAUGHTERS! We need to at least take a chance!

ORION
(Spoken, upset)
I love them so much, but it’s Harnor’s rules.
They’re like playthings to him… he won’t deliberately harm them….

(Sang)
I know that you want to help them,
But remember the rules we must obey.
Harnor won’t let us help them,
If we go against him we’ll have to pay.

I know this isn’t a game.

And he could do that to them – to Storm and Marina! From what I’m hearing, you’re the one who doesn’t remember enough.

SYLVER LILY

ORION

SYLVER LILY

(Spoken)

ORION

(Sang, both more tentative and understanding)
I know that you want to help them…

We both love them to pieces,
That much at least is true…
But Harnor tells us so much that we have to do…

Phew! I’m done! And it took less than a week!

The words just spilled out of me.

Before you go, stay for a few facts and notes from me!

1. Yes, I KNOW that there is some improper grammar! I understand that “me” should go after “you” and all that stuff, so please don’t waste your own time typing that out for me because I KNOW.

2. FUN FACT: You wouldn’t expect this from a stargazer, but instead of Orion’s name being pronounced “O-ryan” like it should be, it’s actually pronounced “Or-eeon.”

3. FUN FACT: I originally had Sylver Lily as “Silver Lily,” but for some reason I swapped the “i” for a “y” because it makes her name more unique AND because it sounds less delicate to me.

4. I was actually pretty hesitant on what this song would really be about. When I first started with the lyrics, all I knew was that it would be about helping Storm and Marina. That’s absolutely it! In fact, the song basically wrote itself. I sometimes got confused about whether or not I wrote it? 😛

5. I created Sylver Lily and Orion when Storm and Marina were made, but back then they were just “their parents.” Eventually I needed a name for them, so I created them about… just about a week before I wrote this song! Shows how much I fell in love with the two of them immediately.

6. Storm is more like Sylver Lily while Marina is more like Orion, but both have, of course, traits of the parents that they are less like. I have a mini chart here if you want see the similarties, but this is only for the basic things, the surface things. There’s definitely more!

Storm:
Black pelt – Orion
Silver sheen – Sylver Lily
Electric blue eyes – Sylver Lily, but the electricity element is all Storm’s.
Air and telekinesis powers – Sylver Lily
Thick fur – Orion
Long legs – Sylver Lily

Marina:
Black pelt – Orion
Blue-green eyes – Orion’s mother
Water and poison powers – Orion
Relatively thin fur – Sylver Lily
Sort of short legs – Orion

There is much more that makes the difference more clear, by the way.

7. I hope that you’ve seen a bit of their individual personalities. This song actually makes them look the opposite of how they normally are, though! You can take a guess or two in the comments of why you think this happened during this song and guess their normal personalities.

Lived in an old and abandoned Chinese twoleg city with a small group of cats. Harnor’s stories are like bedtime stories that kits will listen to. His mother’s name was Moon Boat, and he had a sister named Magnolia. The cats in this community were very enclosed, and it was a tradition almost to turn away outsiders, for they may corrupt the traditional community from within. His father, a black and white tom called Crane, is a descendant of an outsider, and the community will often glance at their family with distaste. After Lantern’s mother and father died in a bout of sickness, Lantern and Magnolia had nowhere to turn when they were sad. The two left the community and found another, smaller group of cats, since after they spent their life in the community, not having other cats around felt wrong. Magnolia became close friends with a tom in the group, a dark bluey-black cat named Plum. They eventually have four kits, Fairy, Peony, Dragon and Wintersweet. Lantern also found a she-cat, Chrysanthemum, but she ended up with another tom in the group. Lantern told Magnolia of his woes, and not long after, Harnor appeared for him. Lantern never told Magnolia that he was leaving, though he knows that she knows where he is.

Artemi’s head hung low as her eyes bore into the ground as tears dripped from them. Through her mind echoed a tune she was certain no one had heard but her. She started murmuring the words.
“There are secrets on a leaf,
In the water, in the air,
Hidden planets, tiny worlds,
All invisible!
Not a person seems to know.
Not a person seems to care.
There is no one who believes a thing I say…”
She stopped to take a breath and sighed.
“Well, I’m fairly certain
At one time or other,
Great thinkers all feel this way!”
She stood up as the tears etched paths down her cheeks, and she looked into the sky. She remembered the song, clear as crystal, and thought it was a duet she sung alone.
“I’m alone in the universe.
So alone in the universe.
I’ve found magic but they don’t see it
They all call me a lunatic.
Ok, call me a lunatic.
If I stand on my own, so be it.”
She stood taller and her eyes closed, squeezing the tears out of them as she did so. She started yelling to no one, though before she started Leaf silently joined her.
“Cause I have wings.
Yes, I can fly
Around the moon
And far beyond the sky
And one day soon
I know there you’ll be
One small voice in the universe
One true friend in the universe
Who believes in me…”
Leaf gasped, as he had heard the song once before. Artemi silently listened to the other part, when he started singing.
“I’m alone in the universe.
So alone in the universe.
My own planets and stars
Are glowing.”
Artemi turned to him and ran to him.
“Alone in the universe…” She sung gently, burying her face into his shoulder.
He continued, his nonexistant tail wrapping around himself.
“No one notices anything.
Not one person is listening.
They don’t have any way of knowing.”
Artemi left his should to sing in a clear, beautiful, sweet voice that rung throughout the clearing.
“Nobody knows that
I have wings
Yes, I can fly
Around the moon
And far beyond the sky
Well someday soon
You will hear my plea
One small voice in the universe”
She sighed. He had joined in near the end, and the two sat in silence for a moment.
“One true friend in the universe.”
The two joined together in a warm mixture of high, sweet notes from Artemi and middle-ish, kind, bouncy notes from Leaf.
“Please believe in me …”
Artemi gave a half-jump into the air, and pranced around the clearing for a moment, as Leaf simply stood in the middle.
“Hello? Who are you?” Artemi asked hopefully.
“My name is Leaf, I’m not from here.” Leaf replied.
“I’m Artemi, I am from here.”
“Are you real? Or are you just a figment of my imagination?”
“Ok, I’m real alright.”
“Do you imagine also?”
“In bright colors!”
“Me too!”
“An-and I go to strange places, l-like Solla Sollew!”
“I imagine you love that place, where troubles are few?”
“Well, little dumbo, of course I do!”
Artemi gave a small wink at the end of the sentence. Leaf caught it and ran up to her. The two started singing again, their voices blending like water and dirt would to make mud, but much prettier.
“Nobody knows that
I have wings
Yes, I can fly
Around the moon
And far beyond the sky
Well someday soon
You will hear my plea
One small voice in the universe
