  • ~Fireblaze~
Fireblaze walked into the tavern, everything was as it used to be. Many animals sat at the tables and the room filled with their happy chatter. She looked around for Sandy and Yuri, but suddenly realized that the tavern was empty. All the others had disappeared and she was alone. “You won’t survive, Fireblaze,” a sneer echoed softly, “You are weak. Your friends can’t depend on you.” Fireblaze nimbly flew at the unseen enemy, hitting them with her claws, but they slashed her left wing, making a long gash, and she got knocked aside, finding herself surrounded by darkness. An eerie green mist surrounded her and cold gripped her feathers. She found herself falling… falling…
Fireblaze sat up, panting. Looking around, she saw her friends sleeping soundly beside her. It was still night. She winced at a sharp pain in her left wing, and got up, realizing that she had been lying on a thorn. Still shaking after the shock of her dream, Fireblaze pressed closer to Yuri, trying to force herself to go back to sleep. Tomorrow would be a long day and she needed all the rest she could get.

    • ~Dusty~
Dusty stared up at the starry sky, unable to fall asleep. Amber eyes flashed in the darkness. Fireblaze was sitting up, looking shocked. “Want to sleep together?” Dusty whispered, “I’m scared, too we can keep each other company.” “Scared?!” Fireblaze snapped quietly, moving away, “Just because you’re scared doesn’t mean I am.” Dusty winced. “I’m sorry. I didn’t mean- I just meant I’m scared. But if you don’t want company… it’s okay.” She settled down alone some distance away.

      • ~Fireblaze~
Guilt stabbed at Fireblaze as she looked at Dusty. The brown hen looked lonely huddled up by herself, shivering. She had only been trying to help. And the truth was, Fireblaze was no less scared than Dusty. Only pretending to be. Because she didn’t want to admit it. With a sigh, she got up and snuggled up next to Dusty. Dusty pressed up against her gratefully. “I’m afraid, too,” Fireblaze finally admitted, unable to let Dusty continue believing that she was the only scared one.

        • Yuri blinked her eyes open as a stab of pain rushed through her leg. She groaned, and tried to find a comfortable position to sleep in. As she noticed that Fireblaze moved, she curled up into a ball to sleep.

Yuri woke up once again, but in an unfamiliar place. A huge wall was in front of her. She felt a jab at her side, and she looked around to notice Fireblaze. “Hey, we got to go!”
          “Where?”
          “Around this wall!”
Yuri shook her head. “There’s no way. We climb the wall, that is our best option.”
She spun around, and she saw every animal from the tavern on the small hill. “Come on, Yuri! You got this.” Fireblaze comforted. She looked at the animals, and jerked her head to the wall. “Alright guys. Let’s gooo!” She bolted towards the wall, but something wasn’t right. None of the animals were behind her. The wall collapsed, and behind it was Koshiro’s mansion. His castle of a house towered over a shadow. “It’s Koshiro.” Yuri thought. He stepped out of the shadows, face to face with Yuri. “You were once my friend. Of couse, you rejected my turn to the dark side. I am not pleased with you.” He smirked. “Now, you will die, Yuri.” Koshiro picked up a sword from the ground, and Yuri from her belt, and they battled… battled… Suddenly, Yuri felt a pain in her heart, in her chest…

Yuri was back with the animals in the hills. She was only half asleep, but she didn’t dare open her eyes. She writhed and turned with anxiety. Her eyes flew open, and she panted. Her hair was up on end, and she shivered despite wearing a jacket.

        • Molly-
          Molly saw Fireblaze and Dusty.
“You two couldn’t sleep? Me neither. I guess we’re all a little nervous.” she said.

          • ~Dusty~
Dusty nodded. “Yeah. You can come sleep next to us,” she invited, “I need all the company I can get.”

  • -Moonstream-
Moonstream looked nervously at her friends. She hadn’t seen them in a long time.

  • ~Shadow~
Shadow was about to go to sleep when she saw two figures silhouetted at the bottom of the hill. She realized it was Ice and Victoria! “Ice! Victoria!” She called, “Over here!” Ice looked up, said something to Victoria, then they both hurried over to where the clan was sheltering in the shade of a small tree. Shadow was so happy that they had arrived unharmed, but, she was still worried for the other animals. Had they escaped the meteor? She really did hope so.

  • Molly-
Molly turned away from her friends. She needed to be alone right now. A second meteor. What if there’s more?
The very thought made Molly feel sick to her stomach.

      • (I guess with Dewfeather’s permission there’s no reason why not. So, yes, if Dewfeather wants you to. But it’s also perfectly fine to go inactive and then pop back in any time if that would work better.)

  • Molly-

Molly began to walk. She walked and walked and walked, unaware of where she was going.
Soon she found she’d left the town. I should probably head back, she thought, but then she saw something in the grass that made her stop.

A small puppy! It was WAY too small to be away from its mother. Where is your mom? Molly thought.

A few feet away, she saw her answer. Dead. From the looks of it, killed by the toxins the meteor had brought.

Molly lifted the puppy by its scruff.
She walked back to her friends as fast as she could.
Hopefully, they could help this puppy.

      • Sandy-
“Yuri, I’ll go with you.” Sandy said quickly. The fact that it would be safer with two wasn’t the only reason she offered to come. Yuri seemed to know something the rest of them didn’t, and Sandy sensed that she might need support.

  • Yuri ran to the mother’s body, Sandy behind her. When they arrived, Yuri gave the still Akita’s pelt a sniff. She turned to Sandy. “There are no toxins,” she said, “but it smells of… blood, and Koshiro.” She turned the body with her paw, and found the answer: a deep cut sliced through the mother’s throat. Yuri felt sick. “If it smells like Koshiro… that must mean…” Yuri paused. No. Not even Koshiro would do that. But deep down, she knew. It smelled of no other scent other than Koshiro’s. “That must mean that this was Koshiro’s mate… and he killed her in cold blood.” She shivered in fear, but shook her head to clear the thoughs of murder away. “Let’s go, Sandy.”

The normally-swift Shiba Inu stumbled up the hill in shock. Her jacket hardly kept her warm in the chilly early dawn. She padded wearily over to Molly. She looked up at the cow, and announced, “That dog… is Koshiro’s pup. Koshiro himself murdered his own mate in a cold-blooded act.” As the animals looked at her skeptically, she thought of the chilling nightmare she had. “And I am sure of it.”

This was such a chilling section to write…

  • Molly-
Molly dipped her head. “Ok. I’ll stay here with the puppy.”
Somehow Molly sensed Yuri wanted to do this alone.

  • Molly-
Molly looked up as Yuri and Sandy returned.
But when she heard the news Yuri spoke, Molly gasped, “No! He wouldn’t- would he? We could all be in danger. This innocent PUPPY could be in danger!”

    • “I know. But somehow, I sense that he abandoned the puppy here on purpose. He killed his mate, surely this would have been no problem.” Yuri sighed, but suddenly, her eyes shone with an idea. “Maybe we should protect him! Until he is old enough. He has no mother, though… who would be his mother? I’m too busy to become a mother…”

      • ~Sandy~
“He needs a dog who to raise him,” Sandy pointed out. “Yuri, this is your choice. I can’t make this choice for you. But… you can do this,” she encouraged, “You have what it takes- you are kind, smart, and brave. We would all help out whenever you need us too. I’m not forcing you to do this, as it’s obviously up to you, but just… think about it.”

        • “What if… we all contribute? I love kids, but… I have never had someone else’s life on the line. I will need help. But from now on… this dog is mine to raise. And he will be called… Isamu, meaning brave and courageous.” She looked down at the pup, courage flickering in her eyes. “Isamu is going to get healthy again. I know it.”

          • “I’ll help out as much as I can,” Rain promised.
            Dusty nodded.

          • Elderberry-
“I will need to give him a full check-up,” Elderberry said, “Bring him over to my clinic whenever you get the chance,” she motioned to where she had set up a temporary clinic, which was basically just a blanket spread on the ground and her tools.

    • ~Fireblaze~
Fireblaze’s wings shook with rage- Koshiro was so evil!
“I will not let him harm this puppy!” she vowed, “He shouldn’t even think about it! It’s bad enough for him to go after us, but babies !? No one has the right to harm innocent babies and it’s for Koshiro’s own good if he knows that!”

    • ~Victoria~
“Where are you going?” Victoria called excitedly, oblivious to all serious problems, “Can I come?”
