Molly-
Molly approached Yuri. “I agree with Sandy. The puppy needs a fellow dog to care for him. You can do this, Yuri.”
Two years later, Yuri sat on the couch of her small house. She hadn’t seen her friends in a while. She sighed, and tensed her muscles. She could sense that something was about to happen…
“Yuri? What is it?” Isamu asked.
“Nothing, Isamu-san.” She laid down on the couch and fell asleep. Isamu wasn’t like a son, more like her friend.
Yuri woke up to Isamu pawing at her. “Hey, someone’s at the door!” Isamu said. Yuri stretched and opened the door to find Fireblaze!
~Fireblaze~
The door swung open and Fireblaze saw Yuri. “Yuri!” Fireblaze panted, “I’m glad to see you.” She made an effort to sound calm but inside, she was worried. “There is a problem…” she admited, “It’s Dusty, she’s very sick!”
“Dusty? Oh, no, we must get help!” Yuri dashed out the door. Isamu and Fireblaze followed. They finally got to Dusty, and she looked very sick. “Stay her, Isamu-san. You too, Fireblaze. I must get help.”
~Sandy~
Sandy looked up from where she was sitting next to her twin sister, trying to comfort her. Relief washed through her as she saw Fireblaze return with Yuri. “Thank you,” she clucked as Yuri promised to get help.
Molly-
Molly paced up and down the streets of the town nervously. I miss Yuri. She’s been gone so long. And little Isamu. I barely got to know him. I bet he’s grown into a fine dog. Hopefully Yuri will return. She doesn’t realize how much we all miss her.
Giving her ear a twitch to get a fly off it, Molly kept on pacing.
Yuri ran faster than she ever has and found Molly in town. She wanted to give a formal greeting, but her heart raced as she barked desperately. “Molly! There is no time to explain! Dusty is very sick. We need everyone we can get.
After Yuri rounded up a group of her friends, all of them followed her as they dashed through the streets, Yuri fastest of all. The animals were shocked at Yuri’s news and Yuri herself, but soon, they were just like they were with the threat of the meteor. They all banded together in the face of a calamity.
Yuri arrived at Fireblaze’s and Isamu’s sides. Elderberry stepped up to the front of the group, her tools in her beak. She inspected Dusty for a minute. Yuri tensed her muscles in anxiety.
Molly-
Molly whispered, “Dusty? Is she going to be okay?”
~Elderberry~
“I need to get her to my hospital,” Elderberry said after a minute, “I will treat her there.”
~Sandy~
“She is very weak,” Sandy observed, “Molly, can she ride on you?”
Molly-
Molly nodded. “Of course she can.”
Yuri called to the other animals. “Stand back!” She barked. As Elderberry and Molly walked ahead, Yuri trotted behind them. “Please, God, don not let her die.” She whispered a word of prayer. Her pointed ears were down. Her brown eyes were desperate, and her curled tail, normally high up, was down. Her head was looking at the street as the group silently stood at the site where the other animals stood silently. The only ones allowed to follow Elderberry were Molly, Fireblaze, and herself.
As they walked to the hospital, her heart beat faster with every step. They waited in the lobby as Elderberry set up in her office. As soon as ths office was prepared, Molly set Dusty on the hospital bed. The others waited in the hallway. Yuri climbed on top of Molly to see what was going on.
Molly-
“Careful, Yuri. You’re heavier than you look,” muttered Molly, shuffling into a more comfortable position.
Yuri showed a hint of a smile. “At least I am not Koshiro!”
Molly-
“True,”said Molly
~Dusty~
Dusty shivered, both from fear and her sickness. Managing to lift her head slightly, she found that she was at the hospital. She was scared, but she knew Elderberry was a skilled doctor. Maybe she would feel better soon.
A feeling of relief warmed her as she saw her friends- Yuri, Fireblaze, and Molly- nearby in the hallway.
“T-thank you so much for helping me,” Dusty whispered weakly, “Is my sister here? I… I need her with me.”
Molly-
“Save your strength, Dusty. You’re very weak.” said Molly. Please don’t die. We need you, Dusty.
Yuri shook her head. “I am afraid-”
Suddenly, a shadow appeared on the other side of the hallway. Sandy!
Sandy dashed to the door of the room. Yuri pointed her nose to the door. “Sandy… Dusty wants you inside. Do not talk to her a lot, though. She must save her strength.”
~Sandy~
Sandy nodded and sat down next to Dusty, who looked up at her, looking relieved.
-Raven-
Raven leapt into a small alleyway, and heard a small growling noise. She braced herself for attack. “Hello? Is-is anyone there?” She shrugged and padded to where she was keeping her food.
Suddenly two large catlike creatures leapt down from a ledge onto the floor in front of her, and started hissing.
“What do you think you’re doing?” the first one snarled.
Raven narrowed her eyes. “I could say the same for you.”
They came out of the shadows and Raven saw that they were cougars. You have got to be kidding me.
“I am Athena,” the first one explained, “and this is Hurricane. This is our alley, and this is our food.”
Raven shook her head. “I think there’s been some kind of mistake. This is where I keep my food.”
Athena leaned closer to her and showed her teeth. ‘Not anymore.”
Raven ran out of the alleyway and started sniffing around for the rest of the animals. She tracked them to the hospital. She ran in, and started speaking to them. “Hi, uh, I’ve got a problem. You see…” She trailed off as she saw Dusty on the hospital bed. Her eyes widened. “You know what? It can wait, I can see you are busy.”
~Shadow~
Shadow stood in AlleyClan’s new camp 2 years after the meteor struck with Ice ready to head out on a patrol towards Elderberry’s hospital.
As they turned the corner to the hospital they saw Dusty being brought in. Shadow gasped, “Ice!” She mewed, “It’s Dusty! She’s on that stretcher, and look, its Fireblaze, Sandy, Elderberry, Molly, and Yuri. Oh! And, that’s the little puppy Molly found! His name is Isamu, right?” She was panicking, “I wonder what happened?” Shadow turned to Ice, I’m going to see what happened. You coming?” Ice nodded, “Yes. I won’t let anything bad happen to Dusty, Scar, you take the patrol back to camp, we’ll meet you there.” Shadow started sprinting towards the hospital with Ice right behind her.
Yuri turned around. “Shadow, Ice! I did not see you walk in. Dusty is very sick.” She sighed. “We have no idea what it could be.”
*Ice*
“May we see?” he asked Elderberry, “Our medicine cat Feather might be able to help you.”
“Yes,” Elderberry stepped to the side.
*Ice*
“Thank you” he said. Sniffing Dusty he remarked, “This smells familiar, Shadow, dont you recognize the scent?” “Yes, I think we should get Feather to see if she can help.” Shadow replied.
~Shadow~
Shadow ran with Ice back to camp and fetched Feather, but by the time they got back the sun had already started to set and she wondered if it was too late. No! She thought, I wont let Dusty pass! She looked anxiously from Elderberry to Feather, but their expressions gave nothing away.
Moonstream-
Moonstream hissed. The scar on her foreleg stung. She wondered what to do next……………..
~Rain~
Rain rushed up to Moonstream, noticing the scar. “Moonstream, what happened? Are you alright!?” she gasped.
“Fellow rogues.” Moonstream replied briefly.
Molly-
Molly turned to Yuri. “Yuri? You’re staying, right? You’re not going to leave again when this is all over?” Molly was concerned. Yuri is one of my best friends. I won’t lose her again.
Yuri hesitated for a second. She turned from her position on Molly’s back. “Back in the den… it got lonely. I know I had Isamu with me, but I missed you. I do not want to leave you again. That is what friends are for. Not to abandon, but… to have an everlasting bond with them. I will join you and the other animals.”
Molly-
“Thank you, Yuri. We all missed you, and are looking forward to getting to know Isamu.” said Molly.
~Dusty~
Dusty’s brown eyes lit up despite her weakness. “Oh, Yuri, I’ve missed you so much, thank you,” she whispered, so quietly that she could barely be heard.
“Oh Dusty, I’m glad to be back.” Yuri’s eyes glimmered in desperation. “But save your strength, please. I can’t bare that…” Her voice trailed off.
~Fireblaze~
“Yuri, you’re right!” Fireblaze clucked softly. Mixed feelings of joy that Yuri was staying and a new realization swept through her, “Bonding with friends is a good thing, not something to be ashamed of. I can see that now.” She thought back to the times when she had rejected Dusty’s attempts to be close, just to seem tough. If only I had seen that earlier.
“Yes, Fireblaze. And you know what else? I am here. I will protect all of you.” Yuri barked softly. Her voice rang with determination. “And I will do anything to make sure Dusty will survive.”
Fireblaze nodded. “Me, too,” she promised solemnly.
“I am glad I have a friend in you, Fireblaze,” Yuri barked, “and Sandy and Victoria and… Dusty.” Her ears dropped to the side of her head.
~Raven~
Raven nearly fell over. It had been eight days since she had eaten anything, and she could feel herself getting weaker. She struggled back into the barn where Cody lay sleeping. She was also starving. Raven decided that maybe a walk would do her good. Fresh air.
She padded out of the barn, breathing heavily, and walked down the street.
Suddenly everything started spinning. She was shaking, and then she collapsed in the middle of the town.
~Rain~
Rain saw Raven fall over and, heart pounding, came up to her. She looked starved, Rain knew she had to help her. She pressed wet moss to Raven’s lips, hoping that it would give her at least some energy, enough to get up. “I will help you,” she murmured, “can you walk? We’ll get you to the nearest cafeteria if you can.”
~Fireblaze~
Fireblaze watched as Elderberry began taking out bandages, pills, and syringes to treat Dusty. She shuddered at the sight of syringes, Those cruel, awful, no-good… monsters! She shrugged off the angry thoughts. Now was no time to think about syringes. This was about Dusty. She had to say something to Dusty and it was important!
“Elderberry, may I speak with Dusty?” she asked the doctor. Elderberry frowned, “Dusty is weak. She needs to save her streng-” “Let me rephrase that,” Fireblaze interrupted, “ Let me speak with Dusty, now! Right now.”
Pushing past the crowd, she walked up to the hospital bed, leaning over Dusty. Suddenly, she honestly didn’t mind if the others heard her, as long as Dusty did. “Dusty… I uh, hope you feel better,” she choked on the words she wanted to say, but forced herself to continue, “You’re a good friend, Dusty, I… I really appreciate you.” Fidgeting from the rising panic within her, Fireblaze banged her legs against the bed, causing it to shake and Dusty to wince.
“I’m so, so sorry!” Fireblaze burst out finally. “It’s okay!” Dusty said, looking puzzled at Fire’s dramatic apology, “I just got startled, it honestly didn’t hurt me.” “No, not about shaking you,” Fireblaze explained quickly, “about… the way I’ve rejected your care… your comfort. I was scared… to admit I needed it. I appreciate it now. And I’m sorry.”
Dusty looked up at her with warmth and tears in her dark brown eyes and Fireblaze felt as though she had been forgiven.
“Fireblaze, are you alright?” Yuri barked quietly. She noticed her friend looked happy, but nervous.
“We’re fine,” Fireblaze answered vaguely, trying to sound more casual than she felt, “We- we were just settling… a problem between us.”
She then looked up from the floor to meet Yuri’s gaze, “Yes, I’m alright,” she concluded, “because I’m wiser now than I used to be. And from now on, I will be a kinder friend to Dusty.”
Yuri looked at her. “I am glad you have made that decision.”
~Raven~
Raven opened her eyes weakly. She smiled at Rain and shook her head. “You know I can’t have cafeteria food. It will only make me worse.” She let out a soft groan. “Th-they won’t let me eat.”
~Rain~
“They won’t let you eat?” Rain gasped, “Oh, I’m so sorry, Raven! I never knew! What if I found something for you? What do you like?”
Molly-
Molly decided to go for a walk outside to stretch her legs. She’d been just standing in the hospital for hours. Plus, she thought walking might help her nervousness about Dusty.
Yuri jumped off of Molly. “Careful!” She barked.
Molly-
Molly stopped in her tracks. “Yuri? What is it?”
“I was on you! You almost trampled my paws!” Yuri gave a yip of amusement.
Sandy steadied Yuri with her shoulder as the dog jumped to the floor. She forced a smile, but her eyes had lost their usual gleam of amusement and wisdom and her tail drooped slightly. Dusty was sick. Her sister, who meant everything to her.
“Thank you, Sandy.” Yuri looked at the medicine cat and chicken working together. “I hope she survives this.” She barked, almost silently. Her ears and tail were down. The normally determined sparkle in her brown eyes was reduced to nothing but sadness.
Molly-
For the first time, Molly realized just how nervous Sandy was. She felt guilty for not trying to comfort her earlier.
Molly-
Molly wondered, Have I been a bad friend all this time? I haven’t noticed who nervous Dusty is. I couldn’t even take care of Isamu- Yuri had to leave town for that!
Maybe I’m not… not worthy of living here.
KananXHera forever ❤️
“Molly…? What are you thinking?” Yuri asked her in a confused yip.
Molly-
Molly closed her eyes. “I don’t know.” Molly was scared.
What’s happening to me?
“Molly… calm down… please, my friend.” Yuri looked up at Molly, who was terrified. Yuri’s tail brush against Molly.
~Raven~
Raven let out a small hiss as she saw a flash of golden pelt in the corner of her eye. She curled her lip. “Leave. Now. No one wants you here, Athena. Just leave.”
