Sheila looked up from her work, glancing out the office window. Commotion in the street caught her eye.
Cougars and other animals faced each other angrily.
Sensing that there was a problem, the young lawyer picked up her notebook and pen, holding them tightly in her wing, then headed for the elevator.
Once out of the building, she walked up to the animals, ready to resolve any conflict. “What’s going on here?” she asked briskly.
“These cougars will not leave,” Yuri replies briskly, “even though we promised them shelter and food if they left us in peace.”
Sheila nodded, writing down the information in her notebook.
She turned to the cougars, “Is this true?”
~Victoria~
Victoria tugged on Yuri’s sleeve, “Look, it’s a lawyer!” she clucked, but was silenced by a glare from Fireblaze.
Yuri glances at Victoria, amusement glimmering in her warm brown eyes.
~Fireblaze~
“They won’t listen to reason!!” Fireblaze answered Sheila angrily, “Can you arrest them or something?”
“I’m afraid I need more information before I can do anything ,” Sheila replied simply. Although Fireblaze was disappointed, she knew Sheila might be right. And besides, Sheila was older and more experienced than her, she must know what she’s doing.
(Arrest them? That’s really harsh 😛)
(Yes, Fireblaze can sometimes be harsh when she’s angry! 😛 )

~Athena~
Athena rolled her eyes. “For Fang’s sake, we’re STARVING here.”
She looked at her paws, and Hurricane winced slightly. “It killed Wood,” she murmured. Hurricane gently touched her tail with his tail.
Athena suddenly looked up, fury and grief blazing in her eyes. “My brother is dead because everyone refuses to let us eat!”
Raven glances at Cody, who exchanged a puzzled look. “What?”
Athena hissed. “Fine. You’re like all the others.” She choked on the words. “You’ll let my other brother and my cubs DIE!” She turned around. “We’re leaving. Come on, Hurricane. These are nothing but selfish creatures, like all the rest.”
~Sheila~
It appears this situation is more complicated than it seems, Sheila thought. She opened her notebook to a new page, “May I hear your side of the story?”
~Fireblaze~
Fireblaze was about to snap another angry comment at the cougars when she broke off, feeling a pang of sympathy. Won’t let them eat!? That’s so unfair! “Wait,” she called quietly, her mind spinning.
|Amara|
Amara stared at the cougars, “What? Cubs? I- We didn’t know, oh my!”
~Shadow~
Shadow gasped, “You have cubs!? Oh, you poor thing!”
~Athena~
Athena fought the urge to claw Shadow and Amara’s faces.
“Oh wow,” she mocked. “The cat that has BEEN STEALING FOOD has cubs. What a surprise.”
~Shadow~
Ice growled but Shadow hushed him, “If we had known, we would have been more sympa-” Shadow gasped, “My kits! Their coming!”
*Ice*
Ice crouched down beside Shadow stunned, “But, you said that they were due next moon!” He gasped, “Someone fetch Elderberry or Feather!”
~Sheila~
Sheila called Elderberry on her mobile phone, “Elderberry, Shadow’s kits are coming now,” she explained quickly but clearly, “Please come as fast as you can.”
“Alright. And I’ll bring Feather,” Elderberry answered.
~Athena~
“Oh, great Fang.”
(Im gonna pretend that she had 3 kits, Frost (boy), Ivy (girl), and Grass (girl) cuz i dont feel like making a birth scene)
Yuri was shocked. “No one lets you guys eat? That’s incredible.” She shook her head in disbelief. “Please accept the clan’s offer! It will only do you good. Please… you should not starve because your pride tells you to deal with it yourself. You will be well fed and sheltered.” Yuri’s eyes were shining with sympathy for the cougars, and she put one paw on the bridge of Athena’s nose.
Yuri is hardly taken aback by being called selfish, instead feeling sympathy towards the cougars. “Athena, Hurricane, I am sorry. I did not know that is what you wanted. But please, we can solve this without fighting.” She sighs, “I know of a place. You can stay, and it has shelter and plenty of food for you all. I can show you, and you can bring cubs, and your brother, too. Just… please, do not fight. We did not mean for this to happen, and I am deeply sorry.”
Ack, ignore this!!!
Molly- (to Sandy)
“We have straws here, right? I can’t pick up water glasses to drink with my hooves.” said Molly.
She has those eyes, that smile. I’m starting to feel dizzy.~Sandy~
“I think we should…” Sandy said, looking around the table. “Ah, here they are!” she spotted a box of straws and gave one to Molly.
Molly-
“Thanks,” said Molly, selecting a blue one and putting it in her glass.

“Do you think Dusty’ll want a straw too?” asked Molly, looking at the straw box.
She has those eyes, that smile. I’m starting to feel dizzy.~Sandy~
“Yes, I think she would,” Sandy answered quickly, instinctively knowing what her sister would want, “A green one. That’s what she usually picks.” I never really payed attention to her straw preferences, Sandy thought, half surprised, half amused, and yet I know her so well. Well, that’s what sisters are for!
She poured a glass for herself, picking a yellow straw, then stood near the doorway, ready to head back once Molly finished preparing Dusty’s glass.
Molly-
After filling Dusty’s glass, Molly stuck a green straw in it.
She has those eyes, that smile. I’m starting to feel dizzy.~Sandy~
Quickly filling an extra glass in case Isamu or Elderberry wanted one, Sandy held the door for Molly, then went into Dusty’s room.
Isamu barks quietly, “Hello!” He glanced at the cup of water. “Maybe you should give some water to Elderberry,” he said, “she looks thirsty.”
Molly-
“She does,” noted Molly. Walking to Elderberry, Molly asked, “Elderberry, would you like some water?”
Rewrite the Stars.~Elderberry~
Elderberry looked up from where she was busily sorting pills, about to refuse since she was so busy treating Dusty. But water is essential to health, she remembered. “Yes, please,” she answered finally, “Thank you for offering.”
Molly-
Molly gave Elderberry a nod, and said, “You’re welcome.”
Rewrite the StarsMoonstream-
Moonstream wished she could do something for the cougars. But no. Nothing she could do. She could only watch. She hated every moment of it. Watching yet not being able to do anything. It was the worst, being able to hear everything around her.
~Athena~
Athena stared strangely at the paw on her nose, then shook it off.
Athena glanced at Hurricane, then looked at Yuri. “Would you like to meet our cubs?”
(Btw Hurricane and Athena aren’t mates because they’re siblings but they call the cubs their cubs, not Athena’s)
Yuri dips her head. “I would love too.” She whispers, half-surprised at the question. “But you should hunt first. Then, bring some to the cubs, I think they will enjoy it. Unless I can find something for you.”
~Shadow~
Shadow smiled. ¨I would love to but, I´ve just had these three rascals, maybe when their older they all can play. But right now Feather, Ice, the kits, and I need to get back to camp, the clan will be worried.¨
~Victoria~
“Bye, Shadow! Bye, Ice!” Victoria called. “Wait- do you have to go?” She added, a sly sparkle in her eyes.
~Shadow~
“Yes. I’m sorry, but we’ll see you all soon, ok?” Shadow smiled.
~Fireblaze~
“You have… cubs?” Fireblaze breathed. That explains why they were so desperate for food. Fighting is still unnecessary but… at least it explains their behaviour better.
“Listen, Athena,” she began, “You and your cubs will be allowed to get all the food you need. I will make sure of that.” She glanced at her companions, “We will make sure of that. But there is really no need to fight. You can ask for food without fighting. We will give it to you. You have the right for food and shelter, just not to hurt others. The same goes for us. I’m sorry you weren’t allowed to eat, but I promise I would never support such an idea, and neither would my friends.”
~Cougars (😛)~
Athena blinked. “Thank you.” She snuffed the air, and stalked near the a different alley. She disappeared inside for a moment, then reappeared with a limp fox in her mouth. She ignored the strange looks.
“We like them,” Hurricane mewed defensively.
The two cougars nodded to the other animals to follow them, and padded away onto a small ledge. They leapt onto the ledge, then onto the rooftop. Hurricane cane back with a cub in his mouth, and Athena came back with two.
“Everyone, meet Tuft, Feather and Fur.”
~Fireblaze~
Fireblaze looked down at the cubs. A mild feeling of warmth spread through her, but she squared her shoulders and kept a serious expression. “They’re beautiful cubs,” she told Athena and Hurricane with a nod.
Yuri stares at the cubs in awe. “They are beautiful! Now I understand that you just wanted to protect them.” She dips her head in guilt.
~Sheila~
The issue appeared to be getting resolved. Neither the cougars nor the other animals seemed hostile now.
“Looks like I can get back to my work now,” she turned to the cougars, “Or do you need any help regarding the cubs?”
~Athena~
Athena winced slightly. “I think I can take care of MY cubs.”
She turned to the others. “Thank you.”
“Ooooooooh!” Tuft jumped up to Yuri. “Are you a dog? Or, or are you a fox? Or a cat? Or-”
“Shhh, Tuft.” Athena pulled him back. “Calm down.”
“So, we’re just all generally starving?” Everyone had forgotten Cody and Raven were there.
(I actually forgot about Cody and Raven 😛 )
“It’s okay, Athena.” Yuri barks quietly. “Yes, Tuft, I am a dog!” She can’t help wagging her tail and smiling. The cubs are too cute!
~Sheila~
Sheila gave Athena a quick nod. “Of course,” she said.
She straightened the notebook in her wing and headed back to her office.
~Victoria~
“Hi!” Victoria ran up to the cubs, “I’m Vicky! What are your names? Let’s be friends! Want to do something?” She turned to Athena. “Can I help care for them?” she hopped up and down as she begged, “Can I? Can I? Please?? I’m a good babysitter!”
~Fireblaze~
Fireblaze rolled her eyes. “A good babysitter,” she muttered to Yuri, half amused, “She’s so mature, I think Athena would end up having to babysit her!”
Yuri whimpers in amusement, then speaks quietly. “No kidding!” She holds a hint of a tease in her voice.
~Sheila~
Sheila was about to go into her office, when a black rooster stopped her. There was a folding chair clamped onto his tail and he did not look pleased. Stepping in front of Sheila, he glared angrily. “Is there a problem?” Sheila asked.
~Spur~
“The children of this town,” he looked pointedly at Fireblaze, “Are throwing chairs.” Not waiting for Sheila to answer, he turned away indignantly. “Now if you’ll excuse me, I’m going to go get this oversized chair off my behind.”
.*Slate*.
Slate raced up to Spur laughing her head off, “Want some help?” She asked.
~Spur~
“Get it off!” Spur whined.
~Fireblaze~
Fireblaze rolled her eyes, “What a whiner!”
Koshiro follows close behind. “I’m surrounded by idiots.” He groans.
(HAAHAHAA!)
Unknown kit (Soon to be Bramble)-
As he walked through the streets with Midnight the kit heard a noise, “What was that, Midnight?” he asked.
~*Midnight*~
“I’m not sure, kit. Let’s wait here, I’m sure whatever it is wont hurt us.”
~Rain~
Stepping out of her house, Rain looked around. Faint voices drifted from the distance. Quietly, the young hen followed the sound. Her blue eyes widened in surprise when she saw a crow and a kit. I don’t remember meeting them before.
“Hello,” she clucked softly, “Are you new here? I don’t think we’ve met. I’m Rain.”
~Shadow~
Shadow picked up Ivy wile Feather gathered Frost and Ice got Grass, “Are we ready?” Shadow asked, Ice and Feather nodded.
*Ice*
“We’re ready,” he nodded to the other animals, “We’ll see you around, I guess.”
\|/Grass\|/
“Shadow where are we going?” Grass squeaked, her eyes weren’t open and wouldn’t open for a while but she sensed that they were moving.
~Shadow~
“We’re going home. Come on, the clan will be worried.” Shadow nodded once more and they all took off through the alleys.
Unknown kit (Soon to be Bramble)-
“Hello? Who is that?” the kit shivered, “Midnight? You’re still here, right?”
~*Midnight*~
“Yes, I’m here, don’t worry I won’t let anything hurt you, kit.” Midnight crowed, “Come out and show yourselves!”
~Shadow~
A crow? Shadow thought, “Ok, ok. But don’t even think about attacking, we will fight.” She padded into the open to see a crow standing over a tiny kit, Oh the poor thing! It must have only just opened its eyes!
~*Midnight*~
Midnight whispered, “Stay back,” just in time to see three full grown cats all holding kit. The leading cat halted her eyes widening as she looked at Midnight and the kit, “Hello.” Midnight said, “What are your names?”
~Shadow~
“I’m Shadow, this is my mate, Ice, our kits, Grass, Frost, and Ivy.” Shadow pointed to the cats, “And this is Feather, our clan Medicine Cat.” She gestured to Feather, “What are your names?”
(I would do more but I have to sign off! :P)
~Athena~
Athena thought for something to say that wouldn’t hurt Victoria’s feelings.
The cubs instantly ran up to her. “Please, mama?” Feather asked.
“Pllllllease?” The others chorused.
Athena sighed. “Okay.”
She smiled at Victoria, then leaned in close to her. “I’m watching you.”
She leaned back out and smiled again.
~Victoria~
“Yay!” Victoria leaped in the air, delighted. She had gotten the job! “I’ll do my very, very, very best!” she promised, skipping in circles. “Maybe someday I’ll be a famous babysitter!”
~Fireblaze~
Fireblaze smiled at Athena’s clever idea. “Thanks,” she chuckled quietly, not loud enough for Victoria to hear, “I’d have had to listen to her complaining if you hadn’t come up with that.”
