As the cats sprinted to the end of the race, a huge rumble shook the island. It knocked the cats off their paws. A chasm suddenly opened up in the middle of the beach, lava bubbling at its bottom.
A godlike cat appeared, lips drawn back. “Ara, we’ve discussed this. The unworthy do not deserve redemption. And they’re dead. No one dead comes back to life.”
“Well, they do now.” Ara regarded the cat with a clam expression. “Please close the chasm and let us finish the Trial. Yes, these cats have done bad things; but they’re atoning.”
The cat snarled, leaping at Ara. The goddess yelped as she was flung backwards, and her paw flashed out, glowing. Instantly, an impossibly bright light bathed the island, and the cats were somewhere new.
It was a huge, dark cave, with rivers of lava snaking through the shiny black rock. Strange black liquid dripped from the stalagmites, and noises from deadly animals hiding in shadows set their fur on edge.
As the cats looked around, the expanse was empty of Ara. Where was she?
She was gone for now. Had she died? No one had a clue. Now they must wait. And if Ara did not reappear, they may be stuck there forever.
*Calm, not clam 😛
Snowdrift-
Snowdrift glanced around uneasily. Where was Ara? Concern for the immortal, who was the only one who had even seemed to ever give them a chance, gripped her heart.
She padded around aimlessly, looking for Nyx or Kingfisher and Anthracite. She felt a terrible numbness. Was this her destiny? To die here?
Cinnamon-
“Um, I just got here!” Cinnamon yelled, to no one in particular. I have no idea what’s going on. That black stuff gives me the creeps… She sat down in a corner with a huff.
Currently nameless cat-
They paced around, fur on edge. This was a strange place.
Is it because of what I did? A flash of flame in their vision. A puff of smoke. Try as they might, they couldn’t quite remember what they’d done … but it had not been right. No, it had been terribly wrong.
Wraith’s whiskers twitched. Maybe his allies really weren’t here. He tensed. Was he going to disappear too, one of these days? Shaking his head of the thoughts, he turned to look at the loud she-cat. He padded toward her, trying to push away his uneasiness. “So you’re new, huh?” he said, attempting a friendly smile.
Cinnamon-
Cinnamon, full of pent-up nervous energy, began to bounce around. “Yep!” She laughed nervously. “I don’t know how I got here. Do you? And I only have one memory, so that’s not helpful. And I think I killed a cat … but I think I was helping them.” She closed her mouth. “Um, sorry! I probably shouldn’t of said that. I think I have a tendency to blurt out things. Do you blurt out things? Well, uh, I guess that’s none of my business.” She clamped her mouth shut firmly. Idiot…
Wraith blinked at her, overwhelmed. This cat is a murderer? “Well, they say someone who blurts out things is speaking from their heart,” he said, as if it were a common saying. Does that even make sense? I sound like a fool.
Cinnamon-
“Oh, well that’s good, because I blurt out lots of things! I think. I’m not really sure, actually, with the one memory. Do you think I killed other cats, too? Maybe I was a serial killer. That’s be unfortunate, because I might kill you.” Cinnamon began to giggle, which a part of her thought was absurd, but she went along with. “I think I’m a little insane, too! Oh, I probably shouldn’t of said that, either.”
Wraith narrowed his eyes contemplatively. A serial killer, huh? That could be very useful…or it could backfire and end up with his corpse floating down a river. He was no stranger to murder, of course, but he faintly thought he could remember taking pride in the precision of it. This cat could be volatile. Nevertheless, he needed allies, and fast. Vivi and Elixir were nowhere to be seen, and those creatures didn’t make his future look promising. Besides, she was kind of charming in a way. More information would be helpful, though. “I’m sure you’re just as sane as you need to be,” he said assuringly. “So you say you killed someone?”
Cinnamon-
“Yeah, I think. I mean, I remember snapping their neck, so that counts as killing, right? And I also think sanity is overrated.” Why did I just say that? Whatever. I guess it is overrated.
Wraith suppressed a smile. Reputation mattered, even here. “Yes, I suppose it does count. Do you know…anything…about what’s going on here?” He could reach for his memories, try as he might, yet all he saw was the terror on Leaf’s face following her last breath. He wondered if Ara had tried to prevent their memories from being stolen, but in his heart he felt that it was as it would always have been. A punishment.
Cinnamon-
“Uh, no. Do you? Or did everyone else just get here, too? Because I’m not quite sure why we’re in a dark, damp cave. Is it the afterlife? Because thought the afterlife might be a little more pleasant, y’know, instead of all this … darkness. It’s weird, isn’t it? Maybe we’re being punished for the bad things we did. What did you do? Oh, sorry. You don’t have to answer that. I don’t even know if you did anything at all…” She laughed again.
Wraith –
He glanced away for a moment, staring blankly. He could still hear it; the rip of claws through fur, the screams that followed. Wraith forced a smile. “I can’t seem to remember yet. What kind of afterlife were you hoping for?” he asked, trying to change the subject.
Cinnamon-
“I don’t know! I guess … lots of flowers. And clouds. And songbirds. Maybe sunshine, too.” She smiled. “Basically the opposite of here!” she meowed brightly, but felt a pang of sadness. Were they destined to live here forever?
[i kind of completely forgot there was that other cat there this whole time XD so i’m just gonna send wraith over there]
Wraith caught sight of a cat moving around. He hadn’t seen them before, and was suspicious of their silence. He flicked his tail, murmuring to Cinnamon. “Who is that?” A new threat? Cinnamon didn’t really seem like the best fighter, but perhaps she’d surprise him.
(Oh, rip 😛)
Cinnamon-
“Are they new?” she wondered aloud. She looked at Wraith. “Should we go talk to them?” She didn’t know why, but going up to others made her feel nervous.
“I think they are,” Wraith frowned. He hadn’t seen them before, right? Then again, had he really been paying attention that closely? There had been so many, last time. “Hey!” he called to them. “Who are you?”
Nameless cat-
They turned their head as someone called to them, and nodded to them in greeting. Their head swam – how did you greet a cat? The only thing they could remember was the fire…
They began to pad over unsteadily, mulling over what had happened to them.
Cinnamon-
“Hey! My name’s Cinnamon. I, uh, killed someone. Not that you needed to know that, though! Of course, I wouldn’t keep it from you, like a secret or anything. I also blurt out lots of things, and I only have one memory. Y’know, the murder one. What’s your name?” Cinnamon attempted a friendly smile, but she probably looked a little crazed.
Wraith glanced at Cinnamon sharply. She’s giving away valuable information. Whatever. It might help the cat trust them, if they could get over the whole murder thing, and at least he wasn’t going to have to spill his guts to a stranger. “I think what Cinnamon meant to say was ‘Hello, what’s your name?” He smiled.
Nameless cat-
They narrowed their eyes at the cat, realizing they didn’t know their name. “I – uh – Flame,” they stammered out. Flame? Really?
Cinnamon-
“Well, it’s good to meet you, Flame. Do you have any memories? You look like you do. Are you new? I’m new. Do you know what’s going on here?” she asked.
Wraith’s gaze narrowed. They seemed rather nervous about something as simple as their own name. Perhaps they were just shaken by the new environment, he decided. “I’ve been here a little longer than Cinnamon,” he said, downplaying his experiences. No use in provoking a million questions. “Have you seen anyone else?” Wraith paused, worried that all the questions from him and Cinnamon might upset them.
Flame-
“No, no one else. Why?” they said, their voice taking a hostile tone. Why are you being hostile? Stop! This is all because of that stupid memory, isn’t it? It’s going to drive you insane!
Cinnamon-
“Wraith says there were cats here before. They might be dead now. We don’t know where they are!” Cinnamon said, feeling anxious. Where were the others? Were they going to face the same fate?
Wraith’s suspicions grew as he stared at Flame. She as hostile, overly so. What if she was planted here? The thought was irrational, he knew, but he couldn’t shake it. “I believe you told me but it must’ve slipped my mind. What’s your memory, again?”
Flame-
Flame lashed her tail, anxiety suddenly clawing at their throat. “I – I don’t know,” they choked out. “I don’t remember.”
Cinnamon-
“Oh, that’s different. Do you have all your memories? Or just some? Or none? Did you kill anyone?” Cinnamon inquired, eyes wide.
Flame-
“I don’t remember,” they growled, eyes narrowing, claws sinking into the earth.
Wraith took a step forward, ignoring the potential danger. “Are you lying to me?” he snarled, then exhaled sharply. Calm down. You’re supposed to be controlling this.
Flame-
“What do I have to gain from lying to you?” they snarled, eyes narrowed, suddenly bristling with fury. “I have no idea what’s going on! I’m not mentally stable enough to remember what happened, let alone make up lies!” they hissed. Suddenly, they saw a flash of something – flames, another cat – and crumbled, their aggression lost. “I don’t remember. I wish I did.”
Cinnamon-
Cinnamon hurried over to Flame, concerned. “Are you all right?” she asked, all of her bubbliness temporarily lost.
Wraith glared at the two of them, hackles still raised. If it were him in Flame’s position, he’d have feigned emotion too. Regardless, it was clear that Cinnamon was already far gone. He slowly approached Flame. “I’m sorry,” he said softly. “I’m just…just a little suspicious after all that’s happened, you know?”
Flame-
Flame absentmindedly clawed the ground. “Okay.”
Wraith:
Wraith coughed slightly, stumbling to his paws. It seemed like he’d been sleeping for ages. “Vivienne? Elixir?” he called, glancing around. Were they still here?
Nyx:
Nyx’s eyes flashed open at the noises of feline activity. Stretching, she extended her claws and sighed. “Frost?” she said, worried slightly. She tried her best to mask it.
(I changed Frost’s name to Snowdrift since I have a character in Tests 3 named Frost that’s a lot like her, just so you know 😛)
Snowdrift-
Nyx. A familiar face. She hurried over, attempting a ragged “hi”. She pondered for a moment whether to make a deadpan comment about there being no biscuits this time, but decided against it. Things were too … dark, figuratively and literally. She cast a glance at one of the strange creatures, shuddering.
(Okay! I wonder why there might be multiple characters named Frost from you XD)
Nyx-
She cast a concerned glance at Snowdrift, who seemed shaken. “Are you hurt?” she asked. Following her gaze to the odd creatures, Nyx raised a brow. “We can definitely take them,” she announced with calm confidence. False confidence? Perhaps. Regardless, confidence is what counts, she reiterated to herself out of habit. She was confused for a moment, reaching for the memory of when she had first thought it, but came up empty.
(Hmmm, I wonder why 😉)
Snowdrift attempted a smile, nodding to reassure Nyx. Could they, really? Gods knew what sorts of terrors lurked here. Thinking about gods made her think about Ara, and she felt another stab of grief. “Do you think Ara’s okay?”
Nyx blinked and sighed for effect, attempting to feign sympathy for Ara. She liked Snowdrift; considered them close allies, even. Ara, however…Did they even know Ara? Maybe she was on their side, but in the end, every god was out for themselves. “I’m sure she is,” she said softly. She curled her tail around Snowdrift’s, hoping it came across as comforting.
Snowdrift-
Snowdrift resisted the temptation to flinch away from Nyx’s touch, since she’d never really liked others touching her. But it was sort of soothing, actually, and she didn’t want to come across as cold, or rude.
She decided to go for the bread comment. “No bread here, huh?”
Nyx, caught off guard, smiled. She gestured at the monsters. “Anything can be bread, if you’re determined enough,” she said. “Although there’s no bread ovens here. Unfortunate circumstances, really.”
Snowdrift-
“It really is unfortunate,” Snowdrift sighed, smiling. “I don’t think I’m ready to eat a potentially-poisonous monster yet.” Oh, great. Now you ruined it with seriousness. Nice job.
“Poison, huh? Well, I’m sure if you just-” Nyx cut off abruptly, gaze flickering to the injured cat a small distance away. “Is that Calabash?” She wondered briefly if speaking to the cat would be worth it. They didn’t really know Calabash that well anyway. She brushed it aside with slight discomfort. Was this who she was? Was this who she would always be?
“Ughhhhhhhhhhh,” Calabash groaned as she came to. Her eyes blinked open, and as she took in her new surroundings, she leaped to her paws. “Aah! Where are we?” she shouted, alarm edging her voice. Her call echoed through the vast cave. “Splashy? Ebony? Anyone?” She broke off, flinching, as something dripped onto her nose from the ceiling. Taking a few steps back, she remembered her paw. Lifting it, Calabash examined her paw pad in the glow of the rivers of lava scattered around. It had stopped bleeding, and barely hurt.
She looked around, fur standing on end. “Hello?”
Snowdrift-
Snowdrift looked at the she-cat, eyes going wide. She felt a pang of sympathy – at least she had Nyx. Calabash’s friends were … well, Snowdrift didn’t know where they were. She wasn’t the biggest fan of social interaction, but she felt bad for Calabash, all alone.
“Calabash?” she called softly, hoping Nyx wouldn’t mind.
Calabash whirled around as she heard two different voices call out her name. She recognized the fluffy white she-cat and the sleek black one from the previous Trials, Snowdrift and Nyx. “Yep. That’d be me,” she replied, trying to hide the tremor of nervousness in her words. Gingerly stepping over a stream of lava to stand closer to Snowdrift, she eyed the she-cat warily. “What’s going on? Where are the others? Do you know?” She swallowed hard, digging her toes into the ground. “Um, can I trust you?”
Nyx gave Calabash an appraising glance. She seemed to be injured. Weakened. She could be useful later, maybe, once she’d healed. But for now…she seemed nervous, unsure of herself. “Why wouldn’t you be able to?” she said smoothly, edging closer. “As for the others, I’m not sure. It seems to be just us, so far.” She inclined her head to Snowdrift, hoping she’d pick up the conversation.
Snowdrift-
Snowdrift gulped as Wraith glanced at her. Okay, don’t say anything stupid, she told herself. “The only other cats here are two taking over there – I think one of them was here before – and a new cat sitting over there.” She gestured with her tail, avoiding Calabash’s question of trust. She wouldn’t betray her or anything, but what use would it do to say that? To be convincing enough, she’d probably have to say something witty or charming, like Nyx had, and she wasn’t particularly charming. She would go for direct honesty, except for the fact that it’d probably seem like lying.
“Do you know where the cats you were with went?” the white she-cat asked, attempting a conversation, since they’d fallen into silence. “Are they here?” Great question. No, really, given the fact that she just asked you that. Idiot. She inwardly huffed, disappointed she’d said something stupid.
Calabash’s fur bristled. “You never know what a cat might do to you when you aren’t looking,” she murmured in reply to Nyx. Her gaze shifted toward Snowdrift, and her tufted ears twitched. “No, I have no idea where they are,” she answered with a slight edge to her voice. She bit her lip, instantly regretting her harsh tone. “Sorry. Just nervous.”
Snowdrift-
Snowdrift felt a wave of guilt. Of course Calabash wouldn’t know where they were. “It’s okay,” she meowed, smiling softly. “I’m sorry, too.” She then looked down at her paws, not wanting to say anything else stupid.
Calabash nodded, lowering her gaze to her paws. “You’re fine. Don’t worry about it.” Glancing back up at Snowdrift, she asked impulsively, “Have your other allies gone missing as well? Or were you just with Nyx?”
As she reflected on the words that she had blurted out, she hoped she hadn’t hit a nerve. Calabash herself was anxious enough without the two only cats she trusted here with her. Well, mostly just Splashy. She didn’t know where Ebony had gone after they’d begun the second Trial. Her bushy tail-tip twitched restlessly to and fro, a small attempt to release some of the nervous energy buzzing in her body.
(Do I just start roleplaying Ebony again? 😛)
Ebony-
Ebony yelped as he realised they’d been transported again. He shook his paws, frowning – it felt like he hadn’t moved for months. He looked around for someone he recognised. Ah there! It was Calabash, taking to another cat, who he didn’t know. “Hi!!” he mewed, running up to join them, “What’s happened?”
Calabash whipped her head back as she heard a familiar voice. “Ebony!” she exclaimed, flicking his shoulder happily with her tail. “It’s good to see you.” She thought for a moment, pondering the answer to his question. “I’m not sure. Lots of cats have disappeared.”
Ebony-
“Is Splashy gone?” he asked slowly, already pretty certain of the answer. Splashy would have been with Calabash if he was here. “Willow’s gone.” he added, a sad note to his voice.
(Yep! You did it right 😀)
“Splashy’s gone,” Calabash confirmed with a nod, her tone dark. “Sorry about Willow.”
She huffed loudly, trying to cover up her worry. Were the four of them all that were left of the many cats who had been here before?
Ebony-
“No it’s fine.” he smiled weakly, “Maybe she and Splashy will turn up later?” He had trouble believing his own words though, what had happened?
Calabash’s ears lowered glumly. “I don’t know.”
Snowdrift-
“I was with Kingfisher and Anthracite a while ago, but I wasn’t right before this.” She hung her head, missing the bickering cats. Were they dead?
Nyx glanced at Ebony warily. “Lots of cats are missing. We’re not sure what happened to them.” The possibility of their deaths hung in the air, as palpable as coagulated blood. She hadn’t had many friends in the past round, but she found herself trying to suppress the hint of guilt in her heart. Where had Laughter gone? Why was she still here? She didn’t deserve it, didn’t deserve to live. She knew that much.
Calabash turned to Snowdrift and smiled gently, an attempt at a comforting gesture. “I hope you can find them,” she told her. Her smile faltered. And I hope I can find Splashy…
[it seems I have the memory of a gold fish because I was looking at the old comment pages and Ebony has met Nyx before 😛]
Ebony-
“Oh!” His eyes widened and he wondered if Willow would turn up. He missed her – she had been his closest friend in the trials. “Did you lose most of your allies too?” he asked Nyx. If we’ve all lost our alliances, then maybe it’s time to make new ones, he thought to himself.
Snowdrift-
Sadly, Snowdrift watched the others. Had they all lost friends? Friends that were dead?
(Should we roleplay the friends they had so they don’t think they’re dead? 😛)
[wait, nyx has met ebony before? we’re both goldfish XD]
Nyx sighed reluctantly, nodding to Ebony. “It would seem that we’re on our own so far. I find myself missing the trial, no matter how painful it was in the moment.”
[as for the allies, maybe? I looked over the entries to see if I wanted to adopt any characters, and there’s SO many. I believe some new people have made characters now, so we could let this play out a little longer to see if they show up. If more people show up it might become a little awkward for us to be playing so many older characters at once. If only a few show up, we should go back and adopt all the allies. We can just say they were in different locations (ie maybe a few were a mile away or something).]
[yes, here: https://blogclan.katecary.co.uk/2018/10/10/the-setting-of-the-warriors-series-by-rainshine/to_the_sea_by_mapleofwinter-db2b0kn-png/comment-page-4/?unapproved=805893&moderation-hash=4c4ac0adec1009d6ef5d92f6da9c6975#comment-805893 I think it was brief because I had no recollection 😛 goldfish buddies 😛]
Ebony-
Ebony frowned, “I wouldn’t go that far,” he mewed, “At least we’re not being chased by lava here.” He paused a moment, lost in memories. “But yes, I do miss the other cats. I wonder where they are?”
[if we adopted the allies of our characters, we could end up having conversations on our own between the characters 😛]
[ohhhhh they did meet! I think I got distracted as well :P]
Nyx-
She scratched at the ground, staring distantly. “They’re probably dead,” she said, voicing the opinion they’d surely all had.
[see, the plan would be to adopt each other’s allies so we’d be able to avoid that but still have their allies in the RP. Even so, there were so many characters that we might run into something like that. I have no idea how raven managed 20 characters in the tests :P]
Calabash jerked her gaze up to meet Nyx’s at her words, but she looked back down after a moment. “You’re probably right,” she heard herself say, her voice empty. A twinge of grief gripped her chest, and she clenched her jaw to hold a neutral expression on her face. Is Splashy really… dead?
[personally, I think it’d be more interesting if all the characters that don’t show up are either dead or presumed to be 😛 but it doesn’t matter to me either way!]
Nyx felt a flash of emotion…regret, perhaps? She shook her head dismissively. They had to accept the truth, no matter if they liked it or not. The others were dead. They had to be. If they weren’t…where could they be? At least she had Snowdrift. Was Splashy as important to Calabash as Snowdrift was to her? She didn’t like the feeling the thought gave her. Snowdrift could disappear too, couldn’t she? And then what? How long until they were all gone, all succumbing to the ether? “What’s our next move?” Nyx asked. Keep moving forward. Any other direction leads to chaos.
[yeah, it could give the characters a sense of fear about completing the next trial, since it would seem that they could disappear randomly, and that would be interesting :P]
Ebony-
“I guess now we wait.” he sighed, “Until we have to go through what ever trial is up next.” He flicked his tail, “But in the meantime, how about we… play a game?” He dropped his gaze, slightly embarrassed.
[ah yes! And if someone goes inactive their character could ‘disappear’ 😛]
Nyx’s eyes lit with interest. “What did you have in mind?”
(Okay!)
Snowdrift-
Having no ideas, Snowdrift hung her head, overcome with grief. Why had this happened? They hadn’t deserved to die – they’d already died once, for Ara’s sake.
(Replied to arkie’s comment at the bottom of this page! 🙂)
~Caves~
Caves stared at where Nyx and Snowdtift stood, and narrowed her eyes at Snowdrift. Her gaze flickered to the forest, and she tensed. She stared at the others silently. Should I leave?
No. They might have some sort of solution to getting out of this dump.
Snowdrift-
Snowdrift noticed someone looking at her, and smiled in an attempt to be friendly. Okay, just remain calm. If she starts talking to you, don’t panic. It’s just conversation, not a life-threatening situation. Feels like it, though.
~Caves~
Caves glared at her, and turned away. Give me a break!
[I’m gonna start a new thread so I don’t have to keep scrolling back and forth when I want to reply 😛]
Calabash’s gaze flicked to Ebony. “I’m intrigued,” she mewed. “Mind elaborating?” She sat down, curling her bushy tail over her paws.
Ebony-
Ebony smiled. He sat up and wrapped his tail around himself. “So what about hide and seek?” he suggested, “I’ll count first if you all want. There’s got to be a lot of good hiding places in here.”
Hide and seek? Calabash grinned. “Sure, why not?” she chuckled, standing back up and stretching her legs out one at a time. “Stars, I haven’t played that game since…” She paused and furrowed her brow. “No idea, actually.”
Ebony-
“Me neither!” he chuckled, “Not since I was a kit!” He lost himself in his memories of playing hide and seek with his littermates, how he wished he could be back with them, just a carefree kit. “Hide and seek good with you two?” he asked Nyx and Snowdrift.
(Oof I realised I made Ebony barely any backstory so I guess I can be a little creative with it now! 😛)
Snowdrift-
Snowdrift smiled. “Sure.” It would be nice to take their minds off of their friends for a while.
Ebony-
Ebony smiled, pleased. “Nyx? Do you want to play?” he asked, waiting for her answer before he could start counting. “Counting to 30?” he asked Calabash and Snowdrift.
“Sounds good to me,” Calabash replied, amused. Her green-and-orange gaze flickered toward Nyx. “How about you?”
Please leave this for Viper!! 😛
Ebony-
Ebony turned and smiled at Nyx, “I understand if you don’t want to play, if you think it’s a bit… childish.” He turned and began scanning the cave with his eyes, he was going to need to look hard to find the others once they hid.
Nyx huffed, slightly amused in spite of herself. She stretched languidly, unsheathing her claws. “I’m game if you are. When do we start?”
Ebony-
“Now?” he asked and chuckled. He sat up tall, closed his eyes and placed his tail over his eyes so he couldn’t see and began to count, “1, 2, 3…”
Ashley sat straight, glancing around her. (I don’t really know what’s happening. )
Sleet felt overwhelmed as she glanced at the huge crowd milling around her. Her gaze landed on a small band of cats that were playing some sort of game, and she smirked. 𝘈𝘳𝘦 𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘺 𝘬𝘪𝘵𝘴? She felt a slight pang as she recalled when she and her brother used to play like that, the shook her head in dismissal. 𝘞𝘩𝘢𝘵’𝘴 𝘥𝘰𝘯𝘦 𝘪𝘴 𝘥𝘰𝘯𝘦, she thought, 𝘕𝘰𝘸 𝘐 𝘩𝘢𝘷𝘦 𝘵𝘰 𝘴𝘶𝘳𝘷𝘪𝘷𝘦 𝘵𝘩𝘪𝘴.
Ebony-
Still with his tail over his eyes, he mewed “Want to play?” sensing another cat around him. “It’s hide and seek, by the way.” he added incase it wasn’t clear.
-Sleet
“Um….sure, I guess.” Sleet replied, a little startled. 𝘐 𝘮𝘪𝘨𝘩𝘵 𝘢𝘴 𝘸𝘦𝘭𝘭 𝘥𝘰 𝘴𝘰𝘮𝘦𝘵𝘩𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘸𝘩𝘪𝘭𝘦 𝘐’𝘮 𝘩𝘦𝘳𝘦. Turning away from the tom, She hurried to find a place to hide and eventually found a shadowed cliff, perfect for hiding her white pelt. Sleet crouched lower to the ground, waiting for the game to begin.
Ebony-
“7, 8, 9, 10…” he counted, his voice steady and he held himself high. Still counting, he tried to guess where the others were going to hide. “…28, 29, 30!! Ready or not, here I come!”
Snowdrift-
Snowdrift dived under a stalagmite, grinning slightly. It was nice to not be worried about her missing friends for a while.
(Ahh sorry I forgot about this slightly!)
Ebony-
Ebony, grinned and looked around the cave. He pushed himself against the cave wall, blending in and waited for a sign of movement that would give his comrades away. He looked up at the crystals hanging from the top of the cave, smiling at their beauty.
(AAH HECK I DID TOO OOPS)
Calabash whipped around, hearing Ebony announce the beginning of the game. Oops. She hadn’t quite hidden yet. Quickly, she glanced around for a good hiding spot. Her gazed settled upon a crack in the wall that looked as if it might be able to fit a cat and she speedily slipped toward it.
Oh. Great, she thought as she squashed her body into the small space. She was not a small cat. Folding her legs uncomfortably between herself and the rock and tucking her bushy tail in, she went still and quieted her breathing. This had better be worth it.
(Ahh I forgot, again. I’ll try not to forget a third time XD)
Ebony-
Ebony looked around, a thoughtful expression on his face. Where would I hide if I was hiding? he thought, Well, I would hide in the shadows because my pelt colour would camouflage. He stepped towards the cliffs, searching avidly with his eyes. He stepped closer, Is that a tail tip?
(Golden, you can decide if Ebony can see Sleet or if he imagines it.)
-Sleet
As Sleet lay spread out on the ground, she saw that Ebony had wandered near her hiding place. She moved farther into the shadows, hoping that they would hide her enough, but she realized too late that her tail was slightly sticking out, and that Ebony was moving towards it. 𝘔𝘰𝘶𝘴𝘦 𝘥𝘶𝘯𝘨! Sleet stepped out of her hiding spot and faced the tom. “You got me….”
Ebony-
Ebony grinned, happy he had found a cat. “It was a good hiding place though!” he shrugged, slightly nonchalantly. “Now, lets go find the others!” He narrowed his eyes, looking for a trace of movement.
Calabash stifled a giggle. Ebony’d just found Sleet, which meant that only she, Snowdrift, and Nyx were left. She twisted her stiff neck gently to the side, turning back around once it gave a faint pop. Hopefully Ebony would find the others soon so she wouldn’t have to sit in this very uncomfortable crack in the wall for very long…
(Oh my gosh I’m really sorry everyone, I forgot again! 😔)
Ebony-
Ebony sat down, and concentrated on listening out for a telltale sign of his friends’ hiding places. His ear pricked slightly at a faint noise, but he shrugged it off, it was probably nothing more than his tail swishing. He started to walk around the cave, padding as quietly as he could.
*A while ago:
Galaxy stared at the biscuit. She thought. And thought. But she had nothing to think about. Except…..her revenge. Her murder.
She leapt at the biscuit and clawed it to shreds.
She growled to herself, her lilac eyes narrowing to slits.
“Why are we here?!” She yowled to the sky. Cats turned, and she looked at her paws.

I DID NOT SEE IT
i have now replied c:
ikr?
-Storm-
Storm finally decided to exist.
Out of the corner of her eye, Calabash noticed a tall gray-and-black tabby standing not too far away. She considered approaching her, but decided against it, since Ebony could be close. She nestled a little deeper into her uncomfortable hiding place.
-Storm-
Feeling the gaze of another cat on her, Storm turned her head and tried to locate them. She looked around, but saw nothing. Am I losing my mind? She wondered, sitting down and wrapping her tail around her paws.
Ebony-
Ebony strode out and approached the other cat. “Hey!” he mewed, “I’m Ebony and we’re currently playing hide and seek! Want to help me look?” His eyes flicked around as he spoke, knowing his friends might take advantage of his talking to move slightly.
-Storm-
“Sure,” she mewed, glancing at the tom warily. “I felt like someone was watching me a moment ago, but I don’t know from where.”
Shoot! Calabash thought as Ebony suddenly appeared and began talking to the gray-and-black tabby she’d seen. He was asking her to help him look. She frowned and stifled a hiss as she squished herself a little deeper into her hiding spot. Hopefully she didn’t see me. That would be annoying.
Ebony-
“Hmm could be Calabash or Snowdrift,” he mewed, “They’re the two we have left to find. Should we search near the walls or the center first?”
-Storm-
She thought for a moment. “The walls,” Storm mewed, “probably a better chance to stay hidden.”
Ebony-
“Yep, that’s a good point!” he grinned, and took a step towards the wall, listening carefully for any sound, and his tail swishing as he went.
Calabash noticed as Ebony headed closer to the wall she was hidden in and she froze. She’d already squashed herself down to the point where her body was beginning to ache. She fought to keep her breath slow and soft so neither of the cats would hear her.
Ebony-
Ebony pricked his ears trying to hear something, but his own breathing muffled any quieter sounds, “Storm,” he whispered, “Can you hear anything?”
-Storm-
Storm narrowed her eyes, trying to focus her senses on her hearing. She held her breath for a moment. “I think I heard some wriggling over there,” she mewed, pointing her tail in the direction of the faint sound. “It was more likely the wind, but what do we have to go on at this point?”
(Oh my gosh I completely forgot this even existed… 😛)
Ebony-
“Nothing!” he grinned, “So that sounds like a pretty good idea!” He started walking over in the direction Storm had pointed to, treading as lightly as possible.
River glanced around.
‘Where am I?’ She wondered.
She couldn’t remember anything, except….
River’s head throbbed with pain, and the world went black, then re-opened as the scene played.
~
“You!” Riverfire snarled to the rogues.
“You killed my father, my sister, my apprentice, and my mate!” She leapt at the rogues, fury making her eyes turn red.
She couldn’t feel the pain as the rogues attacked her, slashing her and making blood gush from the wounds.
She quickly glanced around, watching her Clanmates fight the rogues.
A black-and-white she-cat with blue eyes leapt at her, sending Riverfire sprawling.
‘She killed Pond!’ Riverfire went limp as the she-cat jumped on her.
“Easy prey for Flash.” the she-cat snarled, her blue eyes gleaming.
“Never!” Riverfire launched herself in the air, and came down hard on Flash.
“You killed Pond, and you will pay!” Riverfire stabbed her claws into Flash’s throat.
The pale brown tom that killed her sister came running, burying his nose in Flash’s fur.
“We could’ve had kits,” He murmured. “Beautiful, healthy kits.”
“No! Your mate took that opportunity from me, so I took it from you!” She sank her teeth in to his fur, the blood making his fur scarlet.
She glanced around, looking for more rogues to kill.
She spotted the black one that killed Vixen, and she leapt on him, quickly ending his life.
The tortoiseshell that killed Doe was standing nearby, attacking the medicine cat.
Riverfire raced over there, and cut the tortie to slices.
The remaining rogues had fold the camp, except for….her father’s killer!
He was facing off with Snakestar.
She rushed forward, eager to end his life as painfully as he ended her father’s.
He turned around at the last moment and slammed into Riverfire, knocking her to the ground and sending the air whooshing out of her.
“Ah. I see. I killed your father, didn’t i?” He muttered in her ear.
Riverfire was too weak to move.
“Now I’ll kill you!” He sliced her throat, not deep enough to kill her, but deep enough for her to die from blood loss.
He raced out of camp, and a few warriors followed, only to be called back by Snakestar.
She walked up to her.
“Did you kill those rogues?” She asked.
Riverfire nodded weakly as the medicine cat rushed forward.
“Warriors don’t kill. Riverfire, I’m ashamed of you. We will leave you here to die.” Snakestar flicked her tail at the medicine cat, and walked away to her den.
‘I will have avenged you, Doe, Vixen, Pond. But I failed you, father.’ She thought
‘Never again.’ She vowed, ‘Never again will I fail.’
~
She woke up, the biscuit lying beside her.
River stood up, glancing warily around to see if anyone had witnessed her fit. She padded over to where a group of apprentice-age-looking cats were playing.
“Mind if I join you?” She croaked.
She needed something to keep her mind off of that memory, which, oddly, was the only thing she could remember.
(Idk about the others but Ebony’s two so not apprentice age 😛)
Ebony-
“Okay,” he smiled, “What’s your name, I’m Ebony. We’re playing hide and seek and we have two cats left to find.”
“River. Rivi for short, if you want. Who do we have to find? By the way, thanks.”
(yeah, so’s Calabash 😛 )
“Two cats! Calabash and Snowdrift! And no problem!” grinned Ebony.
