A couple of things to get through today! Most important part is the Allegiances Chat page, so please read that section!

503 Server Error

Yes, just like last time, we got the error simply because we ran over our monthly bandwidth/traffic limit. Our current plan doesn’t allow us to continue using the site once we cross the limit, so the blog goes down. Since it resets when the month rolls over, it comes back!

Now, we (that is, me and Kate) are not exactly sure what contributes to traffic, but we are looking into solutions! For now, you don’t have to worry and can continue visiting the blog as normal 🙂 We are on the case!

I’m also thinking about starting up a little mailing list that you can opt in and out of. This mailing list would only be used to send messages if the blog is down, such as explaining that the blog is down due to a monthly limit. Let me know in the comments if you think this would be helpful 🙂

Allegiances Chat Page

There’s always an ongoing search for a mentor or an apprentice, which leads to a lot of self-promoting ads being posted on the chat page. The frequency of this has started to get a tad bit spammy since people want to make sure their comment is on the current page, which quickly buries comments.

So, we are now implementing a twice-per-week limit on “looking for mentor/apprentice” comments! This will help cut down how fast a page flips over 🙂
