Which mate is better part 1: Spottedleaf or Sandstorm by Mistpaw

Mistpaw compares Spottedleaf and Sandstorm as mates for Firestar.

Hi again, it’s Misty (but some of y’all might know me as Ambi), back once more with her fourth article! This article will be the first in my “which mate is better?” series. Today, in pt1, i’m gonna chose which mate, Spottedleaf or Sandstorm, is better for our buddy Firestar
While i know a lot of people/cats have dont articles on this specific ship, i feel that it’s necessary for this series, and haven’t done an article on this, so im doing it. Now, lets get into it!
I used to like Spottedleaf more, but now i defenitly like Sandstorm more. Spottedleaf x Firestar just makes NO sense, ok? Like Firepaw comes into the clan, see’s Spottedleaf once, and just falls in love. Firstly, you dont even know her, she’s way older than you, and she’s a medicine cat! There are so many things wrong with this ship, not to mention how Spottedleaf just suddenly falls in love too. She’s a medicine cat, but one ginger apprentice comes in that she doesn’t know, that’s a kitteypet, and she falls in love with him. Then, Spottedleaf dies, and Firestar (Fireheart/paw) then is devastated. Which also makes no sense. She was alive for a few days after he came into the clan! He talked to her like twice max, so why is he so devastated that she’s dead? (I think i’m saying this phrase alot, but who cares) It makes no sense.
Now, we have to talk about Sandstorm.
I think that Firestar x Sandstorm was a bit too predictible, and also another one of those famous “enemies to lovers” romances, but i still like it, and i like it way more than Spottedleaf x Firestar. At least this one makes sense. So, my opinion is that I like this ship.
When Firestar first came into the clan, Sandstorm was hostile and rude to him because of his kitteypet background. She would make fun of him along with Dustpelt, and at the start, she seemed like a bully. However, as time went on, and Firestar saved Sandstorm (guess what, hero saves his mate, suprise suprise), and the two started talking to each other, they warmed up. And after a bit of drama, the two fall in love with each other, have kits, and you know the rest of the story. So, the conclusion is that Sandstorm is the better mate for Firestar.
