update on moony
he and our other cats have adjusted, only the occasional skirmish. he is very bitey, it doesn’t hurt he just gently chews on you fingers. if you pick him up he will nip your hair and nose. he likes to steal my dads glasses. he never uses his claws and probably would never hurt someone. we got his papers and we now know he is 8 months old.

Ok, so I would like to say something about Tree, spoilers for Lost Stars:
So in Lost Stars, Needlepaw and Rootpaw are practicing battle moves. And when their mentors tell them that theyโre doing a good job, Tree doesnโt say that itโs good that his kits are doing well. He criticizes then and seems to claim that they arenโt thinking for themselves. Also, that part was just my take on the scene. Like, heโs saying that they shouldnโt learn and that learning how to defend yourself is a bad thing. I never loved Tree, but thereโs a difference between not thinking for yourself and learning how to defend yourself in a battle. Also, does anyone else feel like these protagonists are kinda whiny, especially Bristlefrost? Because sheโs whining that sheโs never going to be happy again because Stemleaf politely told her that he loves her as a friend, even a sibling, but that romantically, he loves Spotfur more. Sorry if this may seem offensive, but it just really bothers me.

Btw I think it was super weird how the Erin Hunters suddenly make Tree a terrible father in this series when he was so excited about having kits in the last series & was so happy?
I don’t think he’s really a bad father so much as he’s a father who has trouble understanding the unique situation his son is in; he wants to be helpful, that much is clear, but he doesn’t quite know what to say to him.
I just kinda feel like it was over the top, and that she shouldnโt have been that upset over it. Even if she was heartbroken, itโs really annoying that sheโs saying that sheโs never going to be happy again and I just found it to be really whiny.
Yeah sometimes the protagonists of Lost Stars are a bit whiny, and it grates on my nerves at times. I’m hoping that as the series goes on they will develop more and move on from that phase. ๐
Hopefully their character arcs involve them learning more and whining less. ๐
