Thank you so much to everyone who participated in this year’s gift exchange! As always, your creations were absolutely wonderful and you never fail to blow me away with your talent and creativity! To find your name in...
Okay, so this post is a little later than what I would’ve wanted, but I’ve had a busy week 😛 I’m also a little tired, so, only one cat pic this time 😛 You’re getting plenty from Cadvent, anyway...
The seventh edition of the Blog Monthly is here – written by Lil, fresh off the printing press Hello, everyone!! The Blog Monthly is back and better than ever! I hope you all love this edition, in my opinion it is one...
Fallowpaw defends Appledusk.
Bristleflight shares their thoughts on their favourite character.
I was up for this adventure with Dovewing. I had often talked with her lately since she had first shown up causing me to screech so loud it was a miracle she had found food for that day. She had me change my name from Lily to Lilyfoot. Aperently it was not a “warrior name”, but I know who gets what type of suffix now.I was a wanderer never a set home for more then a few nights, but Dovewing helped with that she taught me how to weave brambles into a den. Although I don’t like it , the thought of leaving a big trail to other cats and animals scares me, its nice to have some place to just flop down and sleep in. But now I’m here at Shatteredstone. I mean I’m always up for adventure but I don’t trust these other cats. Definitely not the other rouges, loners and even the kittypets. I had been in a tussle with kittypet before, they were mean. Coming out of her thoughts she realized Dovewing was talking to her, “Can you repeat that?” I asked.
“Ugh, this is important” she said flicking her tail impatiently. “We have to go up Destiny Mountain, OK? Find the stone .”
“I know, I know. Mountain, stone, done. Now can I go say hi, you’ve been saying I need to know more cats.”
“Fine.”
“Ok, How about those six?”
“They are fine thats Moon and Firestar, crystal and leafpool, and sun with goosefeather.” Dovewing said gesturing to each one in turn.
Padding up to them I said,” Hello I’m Lilyfoot and this is Dovewing.” Rain started to come in through the hole in the cavern holding Shatteredstone. Turning to look at Dovewing I said,” I told you it would rain. Its going to get colder, windier, AND harder. I think someone deserves an apology.”
Dovewing rolled her eyes,” I believed you!”
Turning back to the others I hastily said,” I saw dark clouds coming in.”
I didn’t want them to know my power yet. Just in case, she didn’t trust them yet. Especially Sun. He seems a bit strange. And I’m not taking that chance again, not after last time with Red.
(sry if red becomes a character who actually is rping if that happens i’m changing it to fluff)
(what season is it?)
Crystal watched, amused as Lilyfoot squabbled with her Spirit guide. Turning to Leafpool, she asked, “Is Lilyfoot a warrior name?” Leafpool tilted her head. “It sounds like one,” she said. “There are many different kinds of warrior names.” “What do you think mine would be?” Crystal asked, letting her gaze wander to the Shatteredstone. Leafpool purred. “Names don’t matter. It’s what you do that counts.” Crystal looked at her reflection in the countless shattered crystals on the Shatteredstone. “Crystalgaze,” she said suddenly. “What?”Leafpool asked in surprise. “That’s what my warrior name would be,” Crystal explained. Leafpool smiled faintly. “That sounds like a very nice name.”
Sun stared at Lilyfoot excitedly. “Why do you have a warrior name? Are you a warrior? I’ve always wanted to meet a warrior!”
Okay so you know how I asked you for a power on the character creation form? I’m gonna scratch that, no powers, sorry!
ok thats fine
Okay 😛
(I just put up the form and didn’t even want a power, so that works out perfectly, oof)
My first piece of the rp has been prewritten for when you accept my character! (I’ll talk to Genesis, Bluefire.) 😀 I am so ready! Hip, hip, hooray!
(I love roleplays…) 🙂
Kiro flicked their tail and settled down, giving a big yawn. They hadn’t had a good night sleep since the dreams had began to plague them, not even sleep was restful anymore. Larkwing hadn’t left their mind, however much Kiro had tried to forget her.
Crystal leaped to her paws, itching for adventure. Leafpool stopped her, and said, “Don’t run into trouble. I was in the Great Journey, and there were many dangers. You need to be careful.” Crystal twitched her ear to show that she heard her. Leafpool was the only cat that she’d talked to so far, so she wanted to find other ones. She wandered away from Leafpool, who was currently chatting with one of her Clanmates and looked for someone else to talk to.
“Gray Wing, when will you tell me about the sun trail?” Whisper had heard of Clans, but not where the orgin was. “In time.”
Whisper sighed. Why were Spirit Guides so mysterious?
Rain started falling, and to everyone’s surprise, she went out and started soaking in it.
Genesis was excited for the change to do something interesting with her life. She hoped that this adventure would be as fun as it sounded. Jayfeather, however, seemed determined to put a pessimistic spin on everything. “Be careful,” he warned her, “or you’re going to get yourself killed.”
Gen rolled her eyes. “I’ll be fine, worrywart.”
[open for interaction]
Sun walked up to Genesis. ” Who are you? I’m Sun and this is Goosefeather!”
Gen purred. “My name’s Genesis, or Gen, and this is Jayfeather.”
Crystal flicked her tail in amusement. “I know that Leafpool and Jayfeather are related, but I don’t see any resemblances at all!”
Gen blinked. “Huh. I never really thought about that. Hey, Jayfeather–”
“Before you ask, remember that I’m blind, and I don’t know what either myself or Leafpool looks like,” Jayfeather snapped.
“Oh– right,” Gen said. “Oops.”
Crystalgaze tilted her head. “Are you sure? I seem to recall that you could see in your dreams,” she said teasingly. Although Jayfeather was sharp, Crystalgaze could see that he meant no harm. After all, she was a very empathetic cat and could read cats very easily. She turned to Genesis. “His dad’s Crowfeather, right?” she asked. Genesis nodded. “Now that’s a resemblance I could see any day!”
Stormsong purrs in amusement when she hears Crowfeather mutter to himself, “What’s that supposed to mean?” She knows he knows perfectly well. Crowfeather still won’t approach the cats even as Stormsong does, probably because these cats, Jayfeather and Leafpool (mostly Jayfeather), are nearby. Now Stormsong understands his awkward pacing from earlier.
Stormsong has already talked – or tried to talk – to Genesis earlier. See towards the end of my really big comment, Bluefire. 😛
~Stormsong’s backstory up to this point in the plot~
Storm was a rogue who lived with her family in a forest nearby to a moorland, where she often hunted due to her swiftness. She also knew some kittypets who lived in a twolegplace nearby (however, she didn’t call them “kittypets”, “twolegs”, or “twolegplaces” until her spirit guide – more on him shortly – influenced her). Therefore, she’s not against kittypets.
However, when a strange cat by the name of Crowfeather began to appear in her dreams, and when she eventually began to have visions of him in her most aware and awake moments (meaning he must certainly be real), she had a feeling her whole life was going to change. It did. She left her family because they could care for themselves, and she followed this “new sun trail”, as he instructed. She decided to go not because she believes in destiny – on the contrary – but because this would be an exciting adventure, and it’s not every day when a mysterious ghost-cat instructs you to do something! (Crowfeather was being pushy, but Stormsong has a strong will, so really, she went because she wanted to, not because Crowfeather is a pushy cat.) She plans on going back to her family after this is over, unless something dramatic happens and the group decides to band together for good.
Crowfeather told her all about the now-gone Clans as they traveled to the Shatteredstone (well, a lot about them; he kept many secrets, especially about his own personal life which she knows next to nothing about at this point besides him going on the Great Journey and minor details). She still has so many questions – being the inquisitive type who could ramble on with her questions and comments forever – but for now, she is more content than she was prior, with some background information. She decided that currently she would go by the name of Stormsong, to make herself feel more like she were once a warrior of WindClan, because it’s a life she dreams of wistfully since Crowfeather told her about the Clans’ glory days.
Stormsong has to admit that she and Crowfeather don’t always get along (he’s not the easiest cat to be around), but she’s grown so used to him in only a quarter-moon of his company (as he’s always lingering) that she adores him all the same. He’s great company, as he leaves her alone when she needs alone time, but is always nearby if she needs to reach out. She wishes to get out his secrets, but, being a spirit guide, he must keep some things to himself, and Stormsong suspects this. She will still push him, every once in a while; lull him into a false sense of security, then ask another semi-suspicious question about his past, and what this endeavor he’s taking her on for a stone is truly about.
Stormsong isn’t sure if she trusts the other cats or spirit guides – heck, if she even entirely trusts Crowfeather – and if she trusts this Stone of Darkness. Well, she thinks darkness is cool and all, so you can’t always go by a name and stereotypes (since darkness is stereotypically a bad thing, but she wants to rake her claws over that nonsense as though it has physical form; cats fear what they do not understand and, although they can see it the dark, it is still mysterious to them, thus the stereotype of darkness being inherently “bad” arose… I digress). Nonetheless, the name of the stone, and the whole strange endeavor, is suspicious. Crowfeather would never admit to that fear – at least he shouldn’t for a while – but she wonders if he’s being tricked, and, in turn, is therefore causing Stormsong herself to be tricked. Stormsong tears the ground up with her claws at this thought.
Stormsong hasn’t barely even talked to any of the other cats yet. In the cave, she had been narrowing her eyes in a scrutinizing manner to try to make out their elusive spirit guides to see what their spirit guides are acting like… to see if she can get a sense of which cats are more trustworthy because who knows if the spirit guides are somehow a reflection of the cats themselves (and what if the spirit guides are not to be trusted, so which ones are more upfront and honest and the truth or more information could come out of them?). And she still knows next to nothing, and it’s frustrating. But of course that’s the case. It’s unlikely she’d find next to anything from judging based on looks. Looks aren’t everything. She would have to try speaking to some of the cats.
[NOTE: Crowfeather might be “Crowstar” by the time he dies, but, of course, we can’t be sure (I don’t think he’s died yet, anyway; I’m not all caught up in the books, though, and please no spoilers about The Broken Code, if you can help it… If you spoil me for Dawn of the Clans, it’s fine). So, I’m going to pretend that, if he does end up becoming “Crowstar”, he is choosing to go by “Crowfeather” as the spirit guide.]
Now, I digress. To the roleplay!
~PRESENT DAY ~
[NOTE: When I wrote this, I somewhat forgot that we were already in the cave (I added and changed things, so that’s why I think it’s mentioned earlier). I wrote as though cats were travelling. My thought is that perhaps some cats went out to collect travelling herbs so that they could go farther or spend more time searching for the Stone of Darkness outside of the refuge of the cave (which the Stone of Darkness most likely doesn’t call its territory). Or, if you don’t like that idea (that’s okay), then perhaps some cats are travelling out to a hunting ground discovered by a cat Stormsong doesn’t yet know so that the cats can be well fed when continuing to search.]
“Sooo,” Stormsong mews pointedly, “the Stone of Darkness…?”
“Great StarClan,” Crowfeather hisses, not even slightly surprised. “Is this all you ever talk about now?”
“Well, it’s what we’re looking for, so I would like more information,” Stormsong mews somewhat demandingly, in a very upfront manner. “Please.” Crowfeather softens at her “Please”, but then hardens again a second later. There is some odd thought process dancing about in his blue eyes, as though he feels bad about what he is going to say, maybe.
“Oh, yes, I shall reveal to you so much. Like I have every time you’ve asked. Let me see, here: The Stone of Darkness is black as night; hence the name,” Crowfeather drawls sarcastically; he is basically the Clan leader of sarcasm, after all. The sarcasm means that Stormsong still has no idea whether it is actually “black as night”, or whether Crowfeather has any idea, either.
“Well, okay, then,” Stormsong meows with a halfhearted shrug, pretending not to be slightly discouraged. She pads faster to catch up to a cat who is ahead, since this cat wasn’t distracted by talking to this cat’s own spirit guide like Stormsong was (which had slowed her and Crowfeather down significantly).
Stormsong approaches Genesis (who she, of course, doesn’t know the name of). “Hello,” she meows politely. “My name’s Stormsong.” She puts on her friendly, playful attitude. “You can nickname me ‘Storm’ or ‘Stormy’ if you wanna. Or ‘Star’, because it’s a good name, you should always reach for the stars, and I am one.” She snorts at her own joke. She doesn’t think she executed it well, but it is whatever. (Stormsong’s policy is: “What’s done is done; move on, it doesn’t matter anymore”.)
Stormsong decides to (for now) blatantly ignore the fact that Crowfeather is stepping idly towards the edge of the clearing the traveling cats walk in, eyeing Genesis’s spirit guide weirdly, as though feeling awkward around him for some reason…?
She awaits Genesis’s response.
[NOTE: Due to this one containing the backstory, it was VERY LONG! I promise I won’t take up so much space in the future parts I add in!]
[Whoever else wants to converse with me, I’m ready!]
If you’re gonna do that, please do it on the backstory page. Just to make my life easier. Thank you!
…Oh, one of those pages was technically a “backstory” page? Sorry about that!! Oof 😛 I will try not to do something like that again…
Crystal, or Crystalgaze, as she wanted to be called, watched as a new cat came into the cave. After a lot of staring and scrutinizing, she walked up to Genesis and introduced herself. Crystalgaze felt a little sting of jealousy. 𝘐 𝘨𝘶𝘦𝘴𝘴 𝘴𝘩𝘦’𝘴 𝘱𝘳𝘦𝘵𝘵𝘺 𝘱𝘰𝘱𝘶𝘭𝘢𝘳 𝘢𝘳𝘰𝘶𝘯𝘥 𝘩𝘦𝘳𝘦. She shook her head and told herself that she couldn’t think about other cats like that until she got to know them. “Considering I’m the only kittypet, I guess they don’t have a good opinion of me either,” she muttered dryly. Since the she-cat (Stormsong) was pretty close to her, she picked up Crystalgaze’s muttered retort.
I guess pretend this is after cats went out to get herbs/hunt/etc.
Stormsong’s ear flicks, and she turns to look at the other cat (Crystalgaze). She doesn’t know whether she should respond to the thing muttered, since she probably wasn’t supposed to hear it. However, to make Crystalgaze feel better, she ends up meowing quietly to her, “Don’t worry, just because there are Clan cat spirit guides doesn’t make US Clan cats. Most of us have no reason have a tabboo against ‘kittypets’. I have plenty of ‘kittypet’ friends. You guys are awesome, and way tougher than other cats think you are.” She swishes her tail reassuringly.
Crystal gave her a grateful glance. “Thanks.”
Stormsong returns the glance in a friendly way. She nods appreciatively at Crystal. “Of course. Anytime!”
Gen smiled. “My name’s Genesis. Gen for short. Nice ta meetcha.”
Jayfeather’s pelt bristled– apparently he recognized Stormsong’s guide, and didn’t approve.
“Nice ta meetcha, too!” Stormsong purrs.
Crowfeather is still staying away. He gives Jayfeather a long look, seeming slightly stressed out, perhaps. He knows perfectly well – and shall admit this to Stormsong but leave out a lot of the whys after this conversation, since Stormsong already basically knows a lot of what is going on between them now – that Jayfeather is his kit who will never fully forgive him, and he has to accept this, so he would rather not get involved with Jayfeather if he can help it.
Whisper was surprised no one else liked the rain as much as she did. “Come on!” She called to the others. Surprisingly, Gray Wing refused. “It’s fun!” She called again.
“Oo, rain! I like the rain!” Stormsong proclaims, bolting outside after Whisper to enjoy it. (She figures that a little fun won’t hurt anything, and the cats can resume the search once the rain stops.)
“So…Want to hunt? I saw a mouse nest near here.” I said. I wanted to get at least one cat here to trust her, just in case something happens, I might need help. I thought that Crystal, Moon, and Sun would be good, what other cats call, “friends”. “If you do I’ll be right outside the entrance.” I added. Walking out into the fresh air I felt better, it was crowded in there with so many people I didn’t trust . But I would be able to think better and charm my way into safety better with a mouse in her. But for now I just have to keep a good eye out.
Crystal padded cautiously out as she fluffed up her fur against the rain. “I guess I could,” she said. “But I..don’t know how to hunt.” She shrank back, getting ready to be made fun of.
“I’ll hunt with you,” Whisper announced as she padded up to them. “There’s a waterfall near here that leads off into a river with plenty of fish. Oh, and I can teach you how to hunt fish,” She added to Crystal with a swift nod.
[Okay, can we pretend that after this, as the cats travel to a hunting location, is when the things in the Present Day section of my huge comment happened? Because I mentioned that the cats went out to hunt. This works perfectly!] 🙂
“I’ll join you, as well,” Stormsong meows, padding over to join the growing patrol. “I’m a pretty good hunter, if I do say so myself. And I might be able to teach you a little bit of how to hunt in the open moorland nearby, once the rain stops and the rabbits start coming out of their burrows.” She nods at both Crystal and Whisper in turn. “Whisper can go first, if you want.”
This is perfect, thinks Stormsong. I’ll learn so much about these cats this way, and we’ll fill our bellies with prey so that have energy and therefore we can officially begin searching for the Stone of Darkness afterwards!
[*Yeah, lol… Pretend I caught Whisper’s name from somewhere, and sorry about the typo (I added that part fast in the last seconds of editing, and forgot “we” in “…so that we…”)… AND I sometimes didn’t use brackets on the italics parts that aren’t Stormsong thinking (basically the notes), oof*]
Crystal blinked in relief. “Thanks. You must be Whisper, nice to meet you.” The she-cat seemed friendly, with nothing serious to hide. She quickly introduced herself (even though Whisper already knew her name), and turned to Lilyfoot. “Let’s get this hunt started.”
” I can teach you to hunt in the forest, If you want. I know all the bast places” I didn’t want the others to be here, too many untrustful eyes, but it is what it is. I started on the way to the river.
Moon stared at the cats as they started to go to the river to find ether water or food.
Why do I always listen to the ginger fool of a tom? She asked herself, growling slowly.
“ Hey, um, Lilyfoot? “ She asked, trying to at least make one friend here,” Can I come hunting with you?”
“Oh, oh hold on!” Tigerstar shouldered past Papillon. He went up to Moon who looked slightly scared at the sight of the muscular tom. He rolled his eyes. “I’m not here for you.” He nodded towards Firestar. “I’m here for that one. Time to settle this once and for all.”
Stormsong bristles with sudden nerves and tenseness. These cats are old enemies?! Aren’t all of the cats supposed to be working together to find something and solve this mysterious mystery, not be at each other’s throats?! But who knows, honestly…?
Crowfeather shoulders up to her and she expects roughness, but instead, he brushes her pelt reassuringly, and Stormsong is surprised that he is giving her support and is glad for it. She purrs to her ghost-friend in response.
“You’d be good in RiverClan,” Gray Wing commented, and Whisper jumped. “I thought you didn’t like the rain!” “Not exactly, but… I dunno, being a spirit guide means you can explore new places that your cat nor you has seen before?” Whisper couldn’t answer, as she had a mouthful of fish.
Crystal stared at a pond. Although it looked like she was looking at her reflection, she was really waiting for a fish to scoop out. She waited until she saw a flash of silver. She thrust her paw in a burst of bubbles, but the fish darted away before she could grab it. “Darn it!” Crystal said in frustration.
“So, have you seen Twolegs use fishing rods?’ Whisper asked Crystal. “They use a hook. Bend your claws…” Whisper struggled to explain how to fish. “Make sure you’re super quiet, so you don’t scare it away. Or,” she flicked her tail toward the water, “Dive in swiftly.” She smiled. “Now try it again.”
“Ok,” Crystal said obediently, she unsheathed, her claws, and waited, making sure that she was quieter this time. After she saw the familiar flash of silver, she dived in again and felt her paw touch something solid. Immediately she hauled the silver trout out of the water, and it flapped on the ground. She bit its spine and the trout fell still. Turning to Whisper, she purred, “Thank you! Do you want to have the first bite?”
Echo was still confused as to what she was even doing. A moon earlier, she had been whisked out of her nest, and brought to a large group of cats. Then a dead cat showed up and guided her around. Her guide helped yet did not help. When a dead cat tells you to do something, you do it. Duh. As soon as the two cats took a rest, the spirit cat explained that her name was Bluestar. She didn´t tell her anything other then that. When they had reached the group, very few people said anything. Most of the cats just nodded or blinked a greeting to her. She wished someone would just explain to her.
Stormsong notices the newest cat who found her way in, and she is looking completely lost. While Stormsong is preoccupied watching this fight nearly ensue between two spirit guides before she goes hunting, she still looks over at the cat briefly.
Honestly, Stormsong is almost just as lost as to what is going on, so she just gives the newcomer an understanding grimace, not sure if the newcomer even understands why she does that.
