Congrats, participating in a choir is amazing! I have never had to audition for a choir so I’m afraid I don’t have personal experience, but I will say these things:
– Don’t eat any sugar, dairy, or spicy foods before/on the day of your audition. Stick to meat, fruit, carbs, vegetables, and lots of water! Tea can be helpful too ^^
– Warm up at home before going there to audition
– Know what the audition requirements are! Do you need to read off sheet music they have or sing a song you chose? Are they looking to test you on harmonization or rhythm? Find out and then prepare for it 😀
– On that topic, if you will be picking your own song, choose one that showcases your strengths and suits the style of your voice

It’s a cold morning here in New Mexico (26F when I got up). I’ve never been a morning person, but I try to get up between 8:30 & 9. I sit in front of my computer and drink my first cup of tea while feeding one of my cats and reading email and checking the news (mostly bad, as usual these days). Though I’ve had the heat on since I got up, I still feel cold. At least I’ve got a warm purry kitty on my lap.
That sounds like a lovely morning routine! (Except for the state of the news, unfortunately.) I do somewhat the same as you do: check all my socials with a drink right after I get up and dressed. I would call myself a morning person, although ever since I went on break I’ve been sleeping in until nine – even though I feel better in general when I get up earlier, I just figured my body must need the sleep 😛 And your cats sound great too! <3 What are their names?
We have two cats: Spoonie (mostly black tuxie girl) and The Captain (black and white boy).

The Captain is 11 1/2. We’ve had him since he was 4 months old. He had two brothers, but they have both passed. Spoonie is a little younger. We adopted her a couple of years ago because she was being fostered in a house with 6 other cats and 2 dogs and was not doing well.
They both look so sweet! Captain looks very healthy, I love the brightness in his eyes! And it was nice of you to save Spoonie (love her name, by the way). That previous home life of hers sounds a bit crazy and overwhelming – makes me wonder how that situation happened? I have one dog, Poky, and one cat, Minnow, and we found Minnow on a farm alone as a kitten (also around 11 years ago) and nobody wanted her. I will! ^^ And don’t worry, nothing that you said comes across as rude at all! <3 They are both tone tags, "/lh" standing for "light-hearted" and "/gen" standing for "genuine." They're used to convey your emotions/tone through text whenever you feel like you need to specify the meaning behind what you wrote, since it can sometimes be hard to tell online as you can't hear others' voices. You can look up a list of them if you want 🙂
And I have not read any of the other Anne of Green Gables books! They sound like a perfect summer read, though. How many are there in the series?

Hello! I’ve actually been having a bit of trouble signing up with classes due to the ones I need all clashing with their times, but if I can get that sorted out then I’m looking forward to plant sciences! I’ve always wanted to study that, and we’ll be in a lab once per week and I’ve never had a class in a lab before, so I can’t wait for that experience. Thanks for asking!

Sprinkle Sunday’s or Sundae (i’m not really sure which one it is) is about these three girls, Tamiko, Allie and Sierra who have been best friends since they were little kits but then Allie has to move to another house and school because her parents divorce. Allie’s mom starts a ice-cream shop and the three besties work there every sunday for a few hours. It’s really good, this isn’t the best explanation but it’s basically about the girls friendship as well as their personal struggles.
I’ve only read the first book but I’m on the second Percy Jackson which I’m finding slightly hard to understand but it’s nice.
Hi! It does sound very good, I like how it’s a nice mix of sweetness and struggles between the three of them. And honestly, that was my struggle with the second Percy Jackson book too when I read it, I found it a bit tougher to follow.

I’d say any dessert is my favorite, haha! 😛 I like stuff like ice cream cake, chocolates, sour candies, all sorts of pastries, and so on! I also enjoy French onion soup, salads, and sandwiches. I also like hot dogs, but funnily enough only when they’re good quality heh 😛 What’s yours? (And thank you, that makes me happy! 😊)
I’m vegetarian (and by that I mean no egg as well but I can have milk and milk products, I don’t know how I would survive without CHEESE). I love desserts of any kind, cheese, and anything spicy and crunchy in indian snacks.

Margherita is my fav cheese and I love Indian Snacks like Tomato Dry Dosa or Soya Sticks or Soya Catori (you probably don’t know what these are but all of them are crunchy and slightly spicy and extremely delicious. I also LOVE Indian sweets.

The Story of Spoons (Spoonie, Spoonie-Tunes) as far as we know it: She and another cat belonged to a couple, one of whom smoked. This gave her terrible allergy attacks. Then that couple split up and neither could (would?) keep the cats. Spoons and her friend were split up (don’t know whether they were bonded) and she wound up in the shelter of our local rescue. She did not do well in that environment. She apparently became despondent and stopped eating. They got her into a foster home but she had to be tube fed, then syringe fed, for several months before she resumed eating on her own. The people who fostered her are good cat people and loved her, but they have 6 cats and 2 dogs, and one of the cats bullied her, so she had to stay in one room. We saw in the rescue group’s ad that they were looking for a new foster home for her, so we took her, and eventually adopted her.
So this is the first time in a long time that she has had a home where she is free to roam the house (and the catio, weather permitting), and has only one cat to cope with. She has blossomed into a funny, quirky, sometimes cranky little girl.
She and the Captain don’t always get along too well. The Captain wants to play with her, the way he did with his brothers. That involves chasing, pouncing, and wrestling. She wants none of that. (The Cap was adopted with two other male cats, one, Archie, an actual litter mate and the other, Fuego, an unrelated ginger tabby boy. Both died too young, Fuego from heart disease, Archie from cancer.) Mostly she tolerates him, but if he gets too aggressive (or sometimes for no obvious reason) she will hiss at him.
I have wondered at times whether she was an orphan raised by humans, because she doesn’t seem to know how to play with another cat. I have watched many litters grow up, and by the time they’re 6-8 weeks old, they’re chasing, pouncing, and wrestling. It seems to be instinctual cat behavior. She doesn’t seem to have that.
Wow, Spoons had a rough upbringing for sure! I’m so glad you found her to give her a loving home. She must appreciate you both and her freedom. You know, she and Captain remind me a bit of how our previous cat Meow Meow used to act with the cat we still have, Minnow – Minnow always wanted to play, and Meow Meow really didn’t know how (Meow Meow was a stray, Minnow was abandoned). It’s interesting they Spoons doesn’t have that instinctual cat behavior!

So my whole family is Indian and I was born in India but we lived in NZ long enough to get a passport and now we live in United Arab Emirates.

Hello! I did, although they ended up looking quite a bit different! I’ve got two art classes, one on drawing and one on theory, and I’ve also got a history class. I dropped out of music because I unfortunately didn’t hear good things about the professor, and I dropped out of science because I needed to take more classes that’d give me credits. But it’s all going well, all my professors are very good!
And I haven’t been walking as much as I would like, although I do on my lunch breaks when I can 🙂 I walked down a ravine close to my house the other day and saw a beautiful frozen river!
A frozen river sounds really cool (no pun intended).

Yes, art is one of my hobbies, and probably what I do the most! I also like to animate, I used to sing and would love to whenever I can again, reading and writing is another, watching movies and TV shows, and recently I got into linguistics and translating! I also swim and dabble in music at times 😀 How about you?
READING, WRITING, acting, singing, dancing when nobody from my school is around to laugh at me, cycling sometimes, skipping sometimes, and ofc blogclanning

And it’s cool you’re good at math, that’s a helpful life skill! And for you wishing you were really awesome at something, well, I’d love to read your writing if you’re comfortable ^^ I will say that I believe everyone has at least – at least, although I would say more than one for sure – talent they’re amazingly good at. Sometimes it takes a while to blossom (which is annoying, I know) – take me with singing for example. I used to be very unconfident in my voice, and I began to improve when I stopped beating myself up for it. I recognized I needed training and improvement in some areas and sought to learn, and now I love the way my voice sounds 🙂 Give yourself time, choose some hobbies you like or feel like you have a knack for and further develop them!
Tbh, I haven’t cycled for while either. I agree, skipping is so underrated and fun! Umm, I posted my writing on the Ask the Experts page when Redfawn and Silverdusk encourged me to share my writing but it didn’t get modded, I’ll share a paragraph or two soon.
Tbh I kinda beat myself up over everything, I really wanna be good at everything and when I’m terrible at things (like art, archery, product design ect) I get super mad and sad. Like today I couldn’t do a art project today so I got super mad at myself and then after a long time, I couldn’t help it, I just started crying. Thanks Snowy!

I’m kind of in the same boat too <3 Today I had to turn in an art project, and I messed up the inking and felt very bitter and ashamed of myself. But, the most important part is to keep going, because with every project you learn something, and slowly but surely you get to a point to where you want to be. That's what happened with me to my cartoon drawings, and now I need to be patient and caring with myself as I work on my realism. I hope things get better for you too, you deserve to enjoy your hobbies, and remember that it's also okay to not be satisfied with everything you've done <3

Hi Snowy. It’s interesting that you’ve gotten involved with linguistics. I know you speak Dutch and, of course, English. Do you speak any other languages? I am a habitual student of Classical Greek, and I speak a combination of high school Spanish and LA street Spanish, plus tourist Italian and a bit of tourist (modern) Greek.
I do not speak any other languages per se, but I’ve studied French the most! I wouldn’t be able to have a spoken conversation, but I can type in it (with some occasional help!). Other than that, I’ve studied Finnish as you know, and recently I’ve dabbled a bit into Italian, Norwegian, and Swedish. How and why did you learn street Spanish and Classical/modern Greek? ^^
On another note, I’ve also been teaching myself IPA! I find the way languages work structurally, through sounds, and through communicated emotions fascinating 😀
I took three years of Spanish for my language requirement in high school. Later, in my early 20s, I worked in factories and warehouses in Southern California, where most of the workers were either Mexican immigrants or local Chicanos. They spoke something quite different from my school Spanish, and I had to learn to communicate with them.
I first studied Classical Greek in college, then lost most of it in the following years. I took it up again after I retired, and am still studying it today. I’ve always been interested in ancient Greek, history, literature, art, etc.
Italian and modern Greek are just for tourist purposes: ordering a meal, getting directions, buying a train ticket, etc.
Finnish must be an interesting language to study, being non-Indo-European. I’ve never studied a non-Indo-European language.
I see! Immersion is the best way to learn a language after all, so I bet that experience was special. What was it like working there?
And that’s understandable about Greek! Do you find most of it coming back to you? It’s always fun to find a culture you connect with like that. That’s why I want to learn Scandinavian languages ^^ I’m also curious about French and Italian because I want to dissect their poetical and lyrical styles.
It is interesting! It’s more difficult than the other languages, understandably. After a while with studying Germanic or Romantic languages, your brain starts to recognize the pattern of the words and sentence structure and you’re able to remember how to use them, but with Finnish it’s a whole other story because of how different it is. The patterns are harder to memorize because it’s so far from what we’re used to. So even constructing simple sentences takes more than how guesswork can work with the other languages I’ve studied.
Ok, I have no idea how to say this so I’ll just say it in my usual blunt, silly way: There’s a comment on this page that hasn’t been modded. Is there a problem with it?

I’m a soprano! I don’t have any specific knowledge about if I’m a soprano 1 or 2 as I’ve never been tested, but given my recorded range, I’d say 2 ^^ Anything below A3 and whooooffffff is it tricky – it actually took me at least a year of training (or at least months), I would say, in order to hit A3 comfortably haha 😛 But now it’s all good! How about you? Ooh, what are you coding? 😛 And thank you, I do celebrate!

Alto voices are gorgeous! I listen to a ton of Judy Garland songs, and her voice is so rich and sweet and enchanting, I just adore it ^^ I made some covers of them, too! its really not but my mind hates code because its so repetitive that I constantly lose track of what I was doing and I hate that the code knows what you are doing wrong but wont just fix it >:(

Thank you, WhiteWhiskers! I will say I’m not 100% back to normal, my warm-ups have been only humming in a safe environment, but everything with my voice has been improving, and I cannot say how happy that makes me. Even through the hums I hear my singing voice there, and that gives me such joy.
