Can I make you an apprentice? Snowlily called RiverClan deputy. Just saw that.
Chapter one of Smoke and Mirrors:
Emeraldpaw watched through the cracks in the rocks as SkyClan, WindClan, and half of ShadowClan attacked the patrol. Her mentor, Tigersky, had told her to hide, because there were too many attackers. She watched as Tigersky was pinned by Blackshade.
“Blackshade, what will we do with him?” Rainingbreeze asked.
“Kill them, Rainingbreeze. What else?” Blackshade replied.
“I don’t know, Blackie. Tigersky here is RiverClan deputy at the moment. If we kill him, you know they’ll retaliate,” Rainingbreeze replied anxiously.
“So? We’re stronger than them,” he meowed.
“But killing them seems wrong,” an apprentice interjected.
“Quiet Dapplepaw. We will kill them,” Blackshade growled, biting into Tigersky’s neck.
Emeraldpaw’s mentor went limp, and she knew he wouldn’t wake up. A few muffled growls came next, followed by footsteps going away. Emeraldpaw looked outside, and saw almost the entire patrol dead. Falconpaw looked around, her eyes round with shock.
“We have to tell the leaders,” she meowed, her voice soft.
Emeraldpaw nodded, both of them running through the ThunderClan forest. The arrived at camp, every day there oblivious to what had happened.
“Needlestar?” Emeraldpaw called.
“Brackenstar? Dovestar?” Falconpaw yowled.
Needlestar poked her head out of the leaders den. “Is something wrong?”
“Tigersky, Adderscale, all of them! Dead!” Falconpaw yowled.
“What?!” Needlestar gasped. “The whole patrol is dead?”
Emeraldpaw nodded. “We were ambushed by warriors. Lots of them. Tigersky told me to hide.”
Needlestar bounded up the high rock, followed by Brackenstar and Dovestar. “I guess we have to move on then.”
She yowled for the clans to gather, which didn’t do much, because almost every day was already gathered.
“I will announce the new deputy. I pray that StarClan approves my choice, Snowlily will be the new deputy of RiverClan.”
Whispers started around the camp.
“Did she think of that right now? It’s only been minutes since Tigersky died,” Falconpaw whispered to Emeraldpaw.
“I hear your whispers, and I want you to know I’ve been thinking about this for a while. Tigersky was almost at retiring age, so I was prepared,” Needlestar meowed calmly.
“What are we going to do?” Streamsplash asked.
“We should attack! We’ll ambush their patrols, and attack the camp!” Fireblaze yowled.
their were yowls of agreement, but Brackenstar shared his wisdom.
“If we do that, we are no better than they are!” he growled. “We will not attack directly.”
Brackenstar turned to the other leaders, all of them whispering.
“Emeraldpaw, who will be out mentors now?” Falconpaw asked.
“How am I supposed to know?” Emeraldpaw replied.
Brackenstar turned back around. “We have decided the mentors of Emeraldpaw and Falconpaw. Falconpaw, your mentor will be Nimblebreeze. Emeraldpaw, your mentor will be Spiralsight,” he yowled.
Emeraldpaw turned towards Spiralsight. She didn’t trust the ShadowClan she-cat.
“Now, Streamsplash and Bramblebush, please join us in our den,” Dovestar called.
“Aren’t we going to get the bodies?” Nimblebreeze asked.
“We can’t. Knowing the other clans, they’ll expect that,” Needlestar growled, upset.
Emeraldpaw walked away, towards her mentor. Spiralsight was with Shatteredmask, a cat Emeraldpaw trusted and respected. Moonpaw was their too, Shatteredmask being her mentor.
“Hi Emeraldpaw!” Moonpaw meowed.
“What are we going to do?” Emeraldpaw asked.
“Shatteredmask thinks we should rest, especially you and Falconpaw, but Spiralsight thinks you and Falconpaw should be training,” Moonpaw replied.
“That’s because I’m right. If the other clans never rest, neither should we.” Spiralsight’s unusual scarlet eyes glinted with something Emeraldpaw couldn’t recognize.
“Let’s just eat, Moonpaw,” she meowed.
Moonpaw nodded, and followed Emeraldpaw.
Emeraldpaw picked up a shrew. She still wasn’t used to ThunderClan prey, but she’d have to deal with it. At least until the war was over. She forced the shrew down, and stood back up.
Streamsplash and Bramblebush were leaving the camp.
What are they doing? Emeraldpaw thought. Probably hunting.
“Emeraldpaw, we need to rest,” Falconpaw meowed.
“Why? It’s not even sunhigh yet,” Emeraldpaw replied.
“Nimblebreeze ordered me too, and said for me to tell you,” Falconpaw replied.
“Aye aye Captain,” Emeraldpaw joked half heartedly.
Falconpaw grinned at the sound of her nickname.
“Let’s just go rest.”

This was harder than it should’ve been. I’m not very proud of it, but it’s okay. Hope you enjoyed.
This was amazing I can’t wait for more!
Thanks!
I liked it!
Oh, wow, this is amazing! 😉 Great job Wildpaw!
Chapter two of Smoke and Mirrors:
Snowlily growled at Riverpond, the calico tom snarling right back. Blackshade and Rainingbreeze, along with an apprentice, were with him. Moonpaw, Emeraldpaw, Spiralsight, and Shatteredmask were with Snowlily.
They had the other clans outnumbered.
“Stay away from our territory,” Blackshade growled.
“Who’s going to make us?” Snowlily challenged.
“Maybe your own former warriors, Streamsplash and Bramblebush. They’re with us now, you know,” Riverpond growled.
Snowlily’s hackles raised. Was that why they were missing?
Shatteredmask glared at the other warriors, but never made any eye contact. ‘Strange.’
“We’ve got you outnumbered, Blackshade. Riverpond. You might be deputies, but your not all powerful,” Moonpaw growled.
“Says the puny apprentice,” Rainingbreeze hissed.
“This apprentice is more than you think!” Moonpaw growled, Emeraldpaw grabbing her scruff to keep her from lunging.
“Maybe you are, maybe you aren’t,” Rainingbreeze taunted.
“Leave us be, and we’ll let you be,” Snowlily meowed, trying to be calm.
“Why would we do that?” Riverpond asked. “It’s not like you’d win against us.”
“Snowlily, let’s just go,” Emeraldpaw meowed.
“Yeah, Rainingbreeze. We won’t accomplish anything from this,” the small apprentice meowed.
“Quiet, Dapplepaw!” Blackshade growled. “We don’t back down from a fight.”
“We don’t ever start fights,” Moonpaw retorted.
“Let’s just leave,” Snowlily growled.
“Yes. Just leave. Like the cowards you are!” Riverpond taunted.
Snowlily ignored them. Her thoughts were on Streamsplash and Bramblebush.
“What do you make of Streamsplash and Bramblebush?” Emeraldpaw asked. “Do you really think they left?”
“I don’t know. I’ll have to talk to Needlestar about it,” Snowlily replied.
They cats were quiet the rest of the patrol, not talking until they reached camp. Snowlily instantly went to the leaders den.
“Needlestar?” she asked.
“Snowlily? You can come inside,” Needlestar answered.
Snowlily entered the den, where Needlestar and Brackenstar were eating, but Dovestar wasn’t here.
“Needlestar, Blackshade just told us that Streamsplash and Bramblebush had join them. Is that true?” Snowlily asked.
“Lower your voice, Snowlily. But yes, it’s true. Kind of,” Needlestar whispered. “We sent them there as spies. It’s good to know they got in.”
“Spies?” Snowlily whispered. “What is they get caught?”
“They’ll be killed. We know they will. But Bramblebush has a gift of tricking cats, and Streamsplash is very persuasive,” Brackenstar meowed.
Snowlily felt slightly relieved. “So they didn’t betray us?”
Needlestar shook her head. “But one of our warriors has. We believe we have spies ourselves.”
“Who do you think they are?’ Snowlily asked.
“I’d normally never share this with a deputy, but your trustworthy. Don’t misuse my trust, Snowlily,” Needlestar warned. “We are suspicious of Spiralsight. There is another one, but we a re not sure who. Shatteredmask is a little suspicious, but she came here with the rest of ShadowClan. Our half, anyway.”
“What about Fireblaze? He was formerly WindClan,” Snowlily pointed out.
“I know, but he’s never even been to the SkyClan camp,” Brackenstar replied.
“And Emeraldpaw? We know her father is of SkyClan,” Snowlily pointed out.
“Emeraldpaw had never met her father, and doesn’t even know he’s from SkyClan,” Needlestar meowed. (Emeraldpaw, I hope your OK with this!)
“And we’re not suspicious of Berryflight?” Snowlily asked.
“He has no reasons. And he’s almost and elder, anyway,” Brackenstar meowed.
“I don’t know then. Spiralsight is suspicious, but Shatteredmask is one of my most trusted friends,” Snowlily meowed.
“Shatteredmask is trustworthy, but it still help to be suspicious. She is around Spiralsight a lot, and that speaks numbers,” Needlestar pointed out.
Snowlily dipped her head. “I’ll see if I can figure it out, if that’s okay? They’ll suspect a leader, but a deputy won’t be as suspicious.”
“That’s a good idea. Tell Mousefire and Doewish the same things,” Needlestar replied.
Snowlily nodded, and left the den. The other deputies were eating together.
“Mousefire, Doewish, I need to tell you something,” Snowlily whispered.
“Is something wrong?” Doewish asked.
“No. Well, maybe. Needlestar and Brackenstar suspect there are spies, and they want us to find them,” Snowlily meowed, but soft enough no cat could here.
The other deputies nodded. “We’ll do our best.”
Snowlily opened her mouth to say something, when an ear-splitting yowled cut through the air.
“SkyClan and WindClan are attacking!” Dovestar and her hunting patrol burst through the camp, followed by the other clans.
Snowlily entered the fight, and attacked Blackshade. She but into his shoulder, and he clawed her underbelly. Snowlily raked her claws across his face. She jumped back for a second.
Blackshade lunged for her, his claws raking her flank. Snowlily pushed him to the side, and pinned him down. He pushed his hind legs up, throwing her off. Snowlily landed on the ground, but quickly stood up.
Blackshade jumped up, and Snowlily ducked under him. She turned and ripped his ear. Blackshade turned around and slashed his claws across her muzzle.
Snowlily hissed, and raked her claws across his face, accidentally scratching the eye. Blackshade howled in pain, and looked at Snowlily with one eye.
“You’ll pay for that one day, deputy,” he growled, before racing back out of camp.
A high pitched yowl filled her ears. It sounded like Emeraldpaw.
The silver for tabby was backed against the camp wall by two warriors. Snowlily ran for her, tackling one of them, while Fireblaze appeared beside her, and for the other.
Emeraldpaw looked grateful, her emerald green eyes wide.
“Go to fight an apprentice,” Fireblaze meowed sternly.
“I was, and I was winning, but these two attacked me!” Emeraldpaw protested.
Snowlily turned back towards the battle, and notice Needlestar and Darkstar facing off. Snowlily dragged her attention to Rainingbreeze, who was standing over Nimblebreeze’s limp body. Her muzzle was covered in blood. Snowlily growled, and tackled her.
Rainingbreeze yelped in surprise. Snowlily but down hard on her leg. Rainingbreeze scratched her claws against her underbelly, forcing her off.
She watched as Rainingbreeze ran\limped towards the entrance. Snowlily padded back to Nimblebreeze’s body, and dragged it way from the battle.
“SkyClan! WindClan! ShadowClan! Retreat!” Darkstar yowled.
Yellowstar shot the black tom a glare, but ran back towards the camp entrance.
‘So even the leaders have ranks there, huh?’
Snowlily walked around to the warriors, telling them to check with Ivywish on their injuries. It seemed that the other clans had taken no mercy. Nimblebreeze, Mousefire, Swiftminnow, and Graypatch were dead.
Moonpaw, Fireblaze, Cinderclaw, and Doewish were all severely injured.
Snowlily walked up to Brackenstar and Dovestar, who were surrounding Needlestar. Needlestar was on the ground, looking up at Ivywish. Her eye was closed, blood seeping out of a few claw marks. Her shoulder was bleeding badly, and her muzzle was tinted a scarlet red.
“Needlestar? Are you okay?” Snowlily asked.
“I’ll be fine. It was just Darkstar, after all. Killed her, but she still has more lives,” Needlestar growled.
Ivywish looked over her. “I must insist you stay in the Medicine Den.”
Needlestar rolled her eyes. “Fine. But only if it stops you from complaining,” she meowed.
Ivywish nodded.
Snowlily looked around. ‘Will we recover from this battle?’

Ack, sorry this was soooooooo long! I thought this was better than the first chapter, so I hope you enjoy it!
Question for Snowlily: Is it okay if Needlestar dies, and you become Snowstar?
Wow, this is getting great!!!
(I love how you made my character so fierce and stuff!)
Thanks!
Your welcome! (Do you switch between POV’s or just keep one?)
I switch. Next is Streamsplash, then you!
Yay my POV!
😁
Just wondering, but, will I get a pov? If so, when? Thank you!
Right after Moonpaw!
Okay thank you!
This is great!
Calico Tom? I’m a she-cat. Is that a typo at the beginning?
Yes. I’m sorry!
Chapter three:
Streamsplash padded out of her den, and looked around. Blackshade was standing over Puddlestream, and the rest of the clan was just watching. These clans had ranks in their leadership, Darkstar being the powerful leader, while Yellowstar and Birchstar were second and third.
“Streamsplash!” Riverpond called. “It’s your turn to fight.”
“Fight?” Streamsplash asked.
“Fight to the death of course. You will fight Sorrelstem,” Riverpond replied.
Streamsplash looked at the tawny she-cat. She was the toughest cat here, winning every battle.
Streamsplash splash gulped, and padded into a small clearing. The two she-cats circled each other, as Streamsplash thought.
‘She always starts the same way. The other always attacks up front,’ she thought.
Just as Streamsplash thought, Sorrelstem leapt through the air, strait at Streamsplash. At the last second, Streamsplash ducked under her, and attacked her from behind.
Streamsplash clawed her back, and bit into her ear. Sorrelstem follows over, pinning Streamsplash down. Streamsplash kicked up withering legs, and pinned Sorrelstem down instead.
“I’m sorry,” she whispered, and bit down hard on Sorrelstems neck.
The she-cat went limp below her, her eyes vacant and lifeless.
“Streamsplash is the winner,” Riverpond meowed, surprised. “Go and bury her.”
Streamsplash grabbed Sorrelstems scruff, and dragged her body out of camp, towards the burial grounds. It took till sunhigh, but she finally got done.
She dropped Sorrelstems body in the hole, feeling guilty.
“I’m sorry, Sorrelstem. I’ll make sure that the good side wins,” Streamsplash whispered.
‘Speaking of which!’ Streamsplash headed towards the border, and waited for a patrol. She didn’t have to wait long, because Snowlily, Falconpaw, Fireblaze, and Doewish appeared.
“Streamsplash!” Doewish meowed. “It’s so good to see you!”
“But she betrayed us!” Falconpaw protested.
“Actually, she’s out spy,” Snowlily meowed. “Is something wrong?”
“No, the other clans won’t be attacking any time soon,” Streamsplash replied.
“Where is Bramblebush?” Fireblaze asked.
‘I knew he’d ask about his brother,’ Streamsplash thought.
“He… He won’t be coming back,” Streamsplash meowed softly.
“Bramblebush is dead?” he asked.
Streamsplash nodded.
“How did he die?” Fireblaze asked.
“Well, when we got to the camp, they told us that the next morning, we would have to fight to the death,” Streamsplash started.
“You killed him?!” Fireblaze exclaimed.
“No! Let me finish. We went on a walk that night, next to the gorge where SkyClan used to live. We were talking when he said, ‘Tomorrow morning, I won’t kill you, and you won’t kill me.'” Streamsplash’s voice hitched. “Without warning he threw himself over the edge.”
Snowlily looked down. “He died the death of a true warrior.”
“Are you okay, Streamsplash?” Fireblaze asked.
“I’m fine,” she’s replied.
“You can come back to camp, you know?” Snowlily meowed.
“I know,” Streamsplash meowed as she remembered something. “Wait! I know who the spies are!”
Snowlily turned around. “Who?”
“One of them is Spiralsight. The other is either Shatteredmask or Bluesong,” Streamsplash replied.
“Great! Now you can come back to our clans!” Falconpaw meowed.
“Or none of you can!” a voice growled behind Streamsplash.
She turned to see Blackshade, Puddlestream, Rainingbreeze, and Dapplepaw.
“Traitor!” Rainingbreeze snarled.
Dapplepaw looked uncomfortable. “Why’s it so wrong, when we have spies over there?”
“Quiet, Dapplepaw!” Rainingbreeze hissed, swiping a paw against her muzzle. Blood stained Dapplepaw’s fur.
“None of you will be going back to camp today!” Blackshade growled.
“Streamsplash!” Snowlily called. Streamsplash turned, and followed them through the woods.
Blackshade and the rest of the patrol followed them.
“What are you doing?” Streamsplash asked.
“They can’t fight an entire camp alone,” Snowlily replied.
Streamsplash ran harder, and eventually raced through the bramble tunnel. The patrol made the mistake of following. Streamsplash turned to face them, along with the entire clan.
Blackshade, Puddlestream, and Rainingbreeze ran away, but Dapplepaw didn’t move. She seemed petrified.
“Dapplepaw?” Streamsplash asked, taking a step forwards.
Dapplepaw took a step back. “I- I don’t want to fight!”
“What do you want?” Snowlily asked.
“I want to be peaceful,” Dapplepaw whispered. “I hate those other clans.”
Streamsplash looked at Snowlily. Brackenstar and Dovestar had passed outside their den.
“We could let her stay,” Dovestar meowed. “She was only two moons old when the divide happened. So she just went with her mother.”
“Will you really let me stay?” Dapplepaw asked hopefully.
“We will let you stay, and if you’ve proven yourself loyal, we’ll let you stay as an apprentice, and soon, a warrior,” Brackenstar meowed.
“I don’t want to be a warrior anymore,” Dapplepaw meowed. “I want to be a Medicine Cat.”
“Well, I’m sure Ivywish would enjoy the company,” Dovestar meowed.
Dapplepaw purred with joy.
With that settled, she looked around camp. “Where’s Mousefire?”
“He died. So did Nimblebreeze, Swiftminnow and Graypatch,” Fireblaze replied.
Streamsplash walked around, and found herself with Spottedmoon in the Medicine Den. Needlestar was badly injured inside, and has a severe case of Greencough, but she was in a quiet space for only herself and the Medicine Cats
“Did you get caught?” Spottedmoon asked.
“Kinda. I was already on the way back here when they found out,” Streamsplash replied.
“Well, that’s fortunate,” Ivywish meowed from the herb storage.
“Yeah. If only Bramblebush had had the same luck,” Streamsplash murmured.
Guilt still twisted in her stomach. He died because of her.
‘I’m sorry, Bramblebush,’ she thought. ‘It was my fault you died.’
‘Don’t be sad,’ a voice replied. ‘I am with my sisters, Beepaw and Nimblebreeze in StarClan. My mother and father are here too.’
Streamsplash felt some kind of comfort in that. ‘All of the other clans will pay for these deaths.’
Ack, sorry this took so long. I was struggling with Writers Block, then came up with all of this last night. Hope you like it.
Snowlily, I hope it’s okay, but your going to be leader. With Fireblaze a deputy.
It’s great!
This is SO good!!!
Chapter four, Moonpaw’s P.O.V.
Moonpaw crouched low to the ground. She opened her mouth, letting the scents roll in. She scented a mouse. Stalking towards the scent, she caught sight of the dusky brown fur.
Bunching up, she prepared to leap. Right before she leapt, something crashed into her. She scrambled to her paws to see what had crashed into her.
“Emeraldpaw?” Moonpaw looked at the silver tabby she-cat.
“Moonpaw?!” Emeraldpaw meowed. “Just who I was looking for! There’s a clan meeting!”
Moonpaw sighed, but followed her denmate. They crashed through the gorse tunnel, to see all of the cats gathered beneath the High Rock.
“Moonpaw! You’ve arrived!” Falconpaw meowed. Falconpaw was the only other ThunderClan apprentice.
“Lets begin!” Brackenstar yowled. “We would like to invite Snowlily to say something.”
The white tabby padded up the rock.
“Needlestar was murdered!” she announced. “A she-cat took her life!”
Whispering began in the clans.
“Who do you think did it?” Falconpaw asked quietly.
“I’m willing to bet Dapplepaw,” Emeraldpaw meowed.
Moonpaw looked towards the tortoiseshell she-cat. She looked just as surprised as everyone else.
“We also found black fur in her claws!” Snowlily yowled.
“That takes out Dapplepaw,” Falconpaw meowed.
“What about Shatteredmask? She has mostly black fur,” Moonpaw pointed out.
“She wouldn’t though!” Emeraldpaw meowed.
“We also have information from Streamsplash that we have two spies in our camp. They are Spiralsight, and another she-cat. Either Shatteredmask or Bluesong!” Snowlily growled. “Judging by the fur in Needlestar’s claws, it’s Shatteredmask!”
Shatteredmask looked strangely calm, but Spiralsight made the worst choice. She tried to sneak out the camp, but Moonpaw caught her.
She bit her tail, and pulled her back. The she-cat yowled, and clawed at Moonpaw.
Some warriors came to help, and they pinned her down. Moonpaw walked away, the scratches on her muzzle stinging. Ivywish came to help with it, but Moonpaw just shook her head.
Warriors were on Shatteredmask in seconds.
“We shall keep them prisoner here,” Brackenstar announced.
“And I shall go to the Moonpool tomorrow morning,” Snowlily meowed.
She was far away, but Moonpaw could see the grief shining in her eyes from here. Falconpaw tapped her with us tail.
“Moonpaw, you and Emeraldpaw need new mentors!” she meowed.
“Moonpaw and Emeraldpaw, now you are in need of new mentors,” Brackenstar meowed.
“Fireblaze! Birdwhistle! You are both ready for a new apprentice, Birdwhistle shall be Moonpaw’s and Fireblaze will be Emeraldpaw’s!”
Moonpaw woke to a gentle above. Birdwhistle stood above her.
“Come on, sleepy paws, I’m going to teach you to fish,” she meowed.
Her voice was so annoyingly cheerful and bright, even if the stars were to go out.
“But I’m a ThunderClan cat, I don’t fish,” Moonpaw meowed.
“Well, the leaders say you should always be trained in every hunting way, in case of a drought, or a lack of prey!” Birdwhistle replied.
“Where are we going?” Moonpaw asked.
“Through ShadowClan territory, toward the RiverClan river,” she replied.
Moonpaw sighed, but followed her new mentor. They ran through the woods with Falconpaw at her side. Snowlily wasn’t here, so Birdwhistle was femininity of them.
They stopped around the ShadowClan border, close to the halfbridge.
“Attack!” A yowl split the air.
Moonpaw saw Rainingbreeze, Riverpond, Blackshade, and Puddlestream run out of the bushes. So did a small apprenticed size tom with a black pelt.
Moonpaw was tackled by Rainingbreeze, both of which went rolling towards halfbridge.
Moonpaw growled, and clawed her muzzle. Rainingbreeze reeled up and sliced her claws against Moonpaw’s eye. It didn’t quite reach her eye, but narrowly missed.
Moonpaw stumbled further backwards. Now on top of the halfbridge, Moonpaw leapt at Rainingbreeze.
She aimed for the throat, but Rainingbreeze twisted, and shoved Moonpaw sideways. Moonpaw yelped as she didn’t feel anything below her. Instead, she was falling. She hit the water, and her ribs ignited in pain.
Water swirled around her, and Moonpaw’s lungs screamed for air. She tried to go up, but ended up uselessly twisting in the water. When the water carries her upwards, she takes a single breath before being dragged back down.
