    • Moonpaw walked through the forest, her pelt shivering as she wondered what Stormsong would do to her if she figured out that she had sneaked out of camp.
I know that this is wrong, but I want to explore the forest on my own, she thought.
Moonpaw stopped and looked at cat walking in the forest as well, and she stopped short.
Oh no, I’m in trouble, she thought nervously as she recognized the cat, Stormpaw.

      • As Stormpaw was in the medicine den, sorting herbs, she heard a rustling near the entrance. Since all the herbs were sorted anyway, she went outside to have a breath of fresh air and noticed the scent of Moonpaw just as she emerged from the entrance. Stormpaw padded towards her in worry. “Where were you?” she asked worriedly. “Stormsong’s been looking for you all day! I hope you didn’t run away again.” She flicked her ear in exasperation. “When will you start following the rules? One of these days, you’ll get in trouble!”

        • (You can look down at my previous comment to see what Nightswoop was doing beforehand! 😁)

Suddenly worried about Moonpaw, Nightswoop tried to get someone to watch her kits for her so that she could go see where Moonpaw had gone.
“Stormsong?” she called. “I need you to watch my kits.”
She heard something that sounded like a muffled grunt from across the camp, and a few of the cats sharing tongues started turning their heads to keep an eye on her kits.
“Where are you going?” Yewkit asked her, batting the moss-ball towards her siblings.
“To check on something.” Nightswoop meowed. “Be good, you guys. I’ll be back soon!”
Two seconds later, Nightswoop was racing out of the camp, tasting the air. She caught Moonpaw’s scent, which was strangely intertwined with Stormpaw, the EchoClan medicine cat apprentice’s scent. Following their scents, she found them in the middle of the forest, and it sounded like they were arguing about something. Dropping into a crouch, she crept behind a bush and listened to what they were saying, thinking she would confront them as they tried to leave.
“-hope you didn’t run away again,” she heard Stormpaw say. “When are you going to start following the rules? One of these days, you’ll get in trouble!”
Nightswoop had heard enough and was getting impatient, so she decided it was time to come out of her hiding place and confront the apprentices.
“What do you think you’re doing?” she growled, coming out of her hiding place and glaring at the apprentices.

          • Stormpaw jumped at Nightswoop’s voice and spun around to see the Echoclan deputy glaring at both of them. Stormpaw made an attempt to conceal her surprise. “I can explain, Nightswoop. I was looking for herbs, and I found Moonpaw in the forest again!” She paused, glancing at Moonpaw. “Please tell me that you have a good excuse for this,” Stormpaw said, lashing her tail.

            • “ Um, no. I don’t. “ Moonpaw said.
I am so bussed, she thought, why did I decide to do this?
She smiled nervously at the two cats, took a deep breath, and turned to Nightswoop,” Don’t get angry at Stormpaw, she was just telling me to go back to camp. Anyways, there is no rule that says,’ Apprentices can’t do anything, or choose anything, with their mentors permission,’ so, why is it so bad if I sneak out at night? “
              She glared at Nightswoop.

              • When Nightswoop saw Moonpaw glare at her, it only made her more upset and angry, and she snorted.
“I’m sorry if I have disturbed your evening, Your Royal Highness,” she meowed sarcastically to Moonpaw. “But, we are all a Clan, and not only does you sneaking out make Stormsong look bad as a mentor, but it makes it harder for you to learn and become a warrior if no one can find you to train you!”
Taking a deep breath, she fixed her gaze on Stormpaw.
“I’m not going to punish you for trying to help your friend, but I think it is in your best interests to head back to camp. I’ll finish up with Moonpaw, and we’ll head back in a couple of minutes.” She turned to Moonpaw again. “Well, what do you have to say for yourself before I tell Stormsong?”

                • [apprentice scolding mode activated XD]

                • Stormpaw reluctantly turned around and padded back to camp. She felt slightly worried about Moonpaw, although she basically brought this upon herself. She pushed through the ferns leading to Echoclan camp and headed back to the medicine den, with the herbs that she picked in between her jaws, and started sorting them, awaiting Nightswoop and Moonpaw’s return. She couldn’t shake the feeling that something was slightly…off. She couldn’t concentrate on her task, and her fur was starting to prickle. 𝘈𝘮 𝘐 𝘨𝘦𝘵𝘵𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘢𝘯 𝘰𝘮𝘦𝘯? Stormpaw thought nervously. She tried to ignore her nervousness and focus on sorting herbs for now, but when her mentor came, she would tell her about this strange feeling.

                • “ Nothing.” Moonpaw muttered,” cause you won’t listen to me.” I never going to be a warrior , but way should I care? She thought, I just hope Stormpaw doesn’t get in trouble…

                • “I can’t help you if you refuse to give me an explanation,” Nightswoop meowed, trying to be more kind. “So, here’s what I’ll do: you can clean the elders den tomorrow morning, and then I can talk to Stormsong and see if we can make some more progress with your training since you are falling behind. If you want, I can teach you some hunting moves tomorrow with your mentor, and see how you are coming along. Does that sound good?”

  • Nightswoop, the deputy of EchoClan, watched her clanmates sharing tongues from her den as she distractedly played moss-ball with her kits, Lichenkit, Yewkit, and Chivekit. She thought she has seen Moonpaw, Stormsong’s apprentice, sneak out of the camp, but she was too focused on her kits to care, and she figured that she would question Moonpaw later when she organized the afternoon hunting and border patrols.
“Throw it to me, me, me!” Lichenkit squeaked at her, breaking her train of thought.
“No, me!” Chivekit meowed, pushing Lichenkit aside as Yewkit watched their arguement with mild amusement.
Nightswoop glared at them, and batted the moss-ball to Yewkit, who chased in across the camp, almost as far as the warrior’s den, with a triumphant look on her face.

  • Brightspark sighed. She was tired, as usual, and as she picked the last juniper berry she dropped her other herbs. She felt slightly odd.

  • [ACK, I’M EMBARRASSED NOW! I SHOULD’VE SEEN THIS SOONER! I PROMISE I’LL BE ACTIVE ON THIS PAGE NOW THAT I AM AWARE THAT WE HAVE STARTED!!!] XD

As soon as Moonpaw, Nightswoop, and Stormpaw return to camp, and once the kits Stormsong was told to watch are being looked after by another cat, Stormsong approaches Moonpaw, bristling. “Where… have… you… been?!” she hisses frantically, just barely containing her nerves and fury, bristling with frustration. “This would be… the… third… time you have disappeared on me!!!! On us! Can you fathom how worried I’ve been this entire time?!”

Stormsong’s ears flatten as she looks over her apprentice thoroughly. “Are you all right?! Great StarClan! Did you cut yourself on a thorn or something?! Or worse?! You need to go to the medicine den and get yourself looked over immediately, young cat!”

Later, after Moonpaw has been given poultice and is left to lie in the den alone, Stormsong pads in. She sits down next to Moonpaw. She lets out a long sigh. She remains silent for many excruciatingly long heartbeats. Finally, with a resigned huff, she leans in to speak to Moonpaw a little quietly. “Please, you need to stop. You not only worry me to death, but you’re also making me look like a terrible mentor. You can’t possibly want to do this to me, can you? Nightswoop informed me that she’ll be helping out with your next training session. That goes to show that she doesn’t trust you – which must be insulting to you – and doesn’t trust me – which is disappointing and extremely embarrassing to me. Please, if you have a reason for sneaking out, you can always consult in me. You can tell me anything. I’ll understand. Or at least I’ll listen and try to understand. Just stop, stop, STOP sneaking off!” She slaps her tail down, but keeps her cool otherwise. She’s been quite calm during this time, but, by that last sentence, her reserved side is ending, and she is bristling again.

Therefore, Stormsong stands up. I can’t lose my temper in front of my apprentice; that’d make me even worse of a mentor than I already am being. She hasn’t left the den yet, though, in case Moonpaw has anything to say. Still, Stormsong is preparing to allow Moonpaw to lay on her own and think on her decisions. Stormsong hopes this’ll teach Moonpaw something… anything… Great StarClan, it’s like this apprentice never learns… But I’m beyond elated that she is safe now. Heh. That counts for something. Although, at this rate, she’s going to get herself killed one of these days… and I’ll feel beyond simply responsible… Stormsong’s complexion contorts with pressure and fear. She isn’t looking at Moonpaw, so that Moonpaw won’t see how beat up Stormsong is.

    • [Oh, true; Nightswoop was going to inform me that she wants to help out with Moonpaw’s apprenticeship in the morning. May we just say that she decided to briefly whisper something to me when you all came back?]

    • [PATCHING UP THE HOLES IN MY PART OF THE ROLEPLAY!! Corrections mode activated (I reread it, and more slowly): Stormpaw has already returned to camp, so pretend that Stormsong only approached Moonpaw and Nightswoop as they came back. The wound is to be determined by Moonpaw/pelt – sorry for kind of thrusting that upon you, I wanted to add to the story – but the reason that nobody noticed, not even the medicine cat apprentice, before now is because it’s probably not that bad, and Stormsong may have overreacted over worry. Also, the reason Moonpaw has to stay in the medicine den for a little while is partially so that the medicine cats can apply more poultice to the wound and check for infections, and also so that the medicine cats can help keep an eye on her for a while. Lastly, I am aware now that these kits are Nightswoop’s. :P]

    • Moonpaw guiltily shuffled her paws,” I’m sorry for making you feel so panicked, but I did have a reason why I snuck out this time, I just couldn’t tell it to Nightswoop. “ She mewed nervously, afraid that she would get into more trouble,” I’m sorry, if you don’t believe me or think I’m crazy, but something was calling me out there. “ Moonpaw flicked her tail towards the camp entrance and hid her head between her paws, as she wondered what Stormsong would do to her now.

    • Moonpaw guiltily shuffled her paws,” I’m sorry for making you feel so panicked and I’ll try not to sneak out anymore, but I might have to, once you hear this. I did have a reason why I snuck out this time, I just couldn’t tell it to Nightswoop.

      • Stormsong hesitantly glances over her shoulder at Moonpaw. “Is that so?” she replies. Stormsong prepares to leave. But then Stormsong gives Moonpaw the benefit of the doubt, as she had promised herself she would, turns back around, and meows (even though she doesn’t really agree with StarClan’s methods or ideas, typically), “Do you think that StarClan told you to go out? Sent you a dream, or something? Did you see anything weird that could’ve come from our ancestors?” She shakes out her pelt to prevent herself from speaking on. “I apologize for all of the questions. You can always tell me when you’re ready, if you think you need rest now and that this is too much. Either way…” Stormsong is still irritated, but she contains herself by flicking her tail.

        • [Ehh, unless Moonpaw wants to add to this – since it hasn’t been added to yet – let’s just say that Moonpaw doesn’t know how to reply, so Stormsong leaves, and is open for conversation in case Moonpaw wants to tell her more later, as Stormsong suggested above]

  • The next day….
Nightswoop wakes up just before dawn the next day, feeling exhausted. She stretches, then shakes Stormsong awake, who sleeps in the nest next to hers.
“Come on,” she meows. “We’ve got an apprentice to train!”
As the walk to the training hallow, Stormsong and Moonpaw seem strangely silent.
Nightswoop suddenly gets the strange feeling that there’s something that they aren’t telling her about the events that happened last night and says, turning around to look at them both, “Why do I feel like there’s something you both aren’t telling me? I feel like I’m missing a piece of the puzzle here.”

    • Stormsong hates keeping secrets, but things are still so confusing and she’s still not sure that she believes Moonpaw, so she’s not even sure that it’s a secret to be kept yet. Therefore, she just stands tall and meows, “There is nothing you are missing out on that wouldn’t be confusing me as well. Basically, you’re missing nothing that means anything, Nightswoop. Trust me.” Withholding information without straight-up lying to her own Clan’s deputy. Perfect, it is! She gives Nightswoop a pointed look, thinking but not exactly saying: “Hey, it might be private information. I’ll tell you if necessary, probably.”

Stormsong is also feeling humiliated that Nightswoop thinks she needs to help out with Moonpaw’s training. I know I must’ve done something wrong as a mentor, but Moonpaw’s not exactly falling behind… It’s simply her behavior I can’t seem to change. Stormsong glares at her own paws in frustration. To avoid all of this in the future, will I have to take a stricter, or, even, meaner, approach towards Moonpaw? I suppose this is a test, and this is what Nightswoop is testing for. I’ll start out my typical self and see what happens. What she does.

While Stormsong was worried about Moonpaw and not disappointing Nightswoop earlier, now she simply is angry. I was given an apprentice for a reason. Back off, Nightswoop. But she has the sense not to say that out loud.

      • “Alright, well, thank you Stormsong,” Nightswoop replied. “How about you show me what you’ve been teaching her so far? I usually check on the apprentices every now and then to see how they are coming along, but I haven’t seen Moonpaw train in a while since I’ve had to take care of my kits!”

        • Stormsong’s stomach suddenly lurches. Perhaps she has been thinking the worst of Nightswoop, and instantly feels immensely guilty. Sometimes, we get so wrapped up in ourselves that we don’t realize that others are meaning well. Nightswoop seems so genuine right now! She probably isn’t just trying to make Stormsong feel better with what she said, then. It is true that Nightswoop checks up on apprentices’ training. It’s just that this time is ironic, but Stormsong supposes it makes perfect sense in the sense that Nightswoop was reminded of doing this from Moonpaw’s incident. Perhaps she does trust Stormsong with Moonpaw, after all! She really is just checking up on the training, just because she’s a good deputy. Stormsong won’t look at Nightswoop, because she inwardly feels ashamed. But she gives a genuine nod of approval and understanding directed at Nightswoop. “O-Of course,” she meows gratefully.

“All right, Moonpaw. We’re going to be doing some battle training,” Stormsong meows as the cats approach the clearing where EchoClan cats often battle train. That’d been their main focus lately, as Stormsong had started primarily with a bit of hunting and a bit of patrolling. Once they get through about a half-quarter-moon of battle training, to balance it out, Stormsong will then go back to something else. That has been their cycle. Eventually, Stormsong will change the cycle, but for now, it’s working, she thinks. “Today, I’m going to pretend to be ambushing the camp. You’ll have to think fast and be fast on your feet as well. When I get close, you might have to block me before I pin you down. Do you understand?” When Moonpaw gives input, Stormsong meows, “Good. I’ll go hide nearby, so try to listen to pinpoint where I am. Then maybe you can give me the element of surprise!” She purrs with amusement at this. “The practice starts… now.” Then she heads off to hide; crouching in order to – shortly – run, skirt to the side, and pounce towards Moonpaw harmlessly.

      • Moonpaw listened to the conversation between her mentor and her deputy.
Won’t Stormsong get in trouble for talking to Nightswoop like that? She wondered, but was then lost in her own thoughts. She remembered the voice that called her to sneak out of camp, that ended up being the worst choice of her life.
The voice can only be three things, a friend, a foe, or a load of thistle-down.
Stormsong went to go hide and pounced towards her. Moonpaw dodged, and leaped towards her mentor.

        • [Stormsong technically didn’t say anything disrespectful to Nightswoop out loud…]

Stormsong just manages to skid and dodge her apprentice, but it’s a close call. Stormsong not managing to properly pounce onto Moonpaw, nor pin Moonpaw down, on that jump shows Stormsong that Moonpaw is swift and had at least some idea of where Stormsong was coming from. “Good,” she meows, impressed, as she turns to strike again, wondering what Moonpaw will do in defense and retaliation and readying herself for the possibilities. Stormsong leaps to the left, feigns a hit, and jumps in the opposite direction, intending to confuse Moonpaw and see if Moonpaw is able to quickly react and change her strategy.

          • [Oof, Crimsonclaw, sorry, I forgot you said “hunting moves” above; we can do that after this, and pretend we have more time, if you wanna, and I was actually going to do hunting and started writing it that way because I prefer that, but I thought that battling would be easier for Nightswoop to observe and for the three of us to keep track of the writing for it… lol, oof]

            • (Don’t worry about it, Stormsong! It’s all good! You can continue with battle practice as you planned!)
Nightswoop watches mentor and apprentice fight, feeling very impressed with Moonpaw’s fighting ability and how well she is doing.
When both Stormsong and Moonpaw finish showing her what Moonpaw has been learning, Nightswoop exclaims, “Moonpaw, that was amazing! And Stormsong, you are doing a fantastic job mentoring! Great job, both of you! I’ll be sure to inform our leader about you progress.”

              • Stormsong, pleased, faintly surprised, and glad that Nightswoop is this enthusiastic with her support, is glowing with happiness. She feels like Moonpaw and herself are relatively redeemed at the moment. Maybe I did do something right as a mentor after all!

As the cats pad back to camp, Stormsong meows, genuinely impressed and encouraging, “Great job, Moonpaw! I’m very proud of your effort and achievement today.” Moonpaw is a good listener. If she just could keep her head within the Clan and not in her shenanigans, she’d be wonderful to train.

When Nightswoop isn’t listening, Stormsong adds, “Because you have proven yourself a good apprentice with that amazing listening and mock-battle, which proves that you have been paying attention and are skilled, I won’t give you further punishment than Nightswoop already gave you for sneaking out. So long as you don’t sneak out again, let us move ahead.”

Stormsong walks back to camp contently and far more confidently than when she set out. However, in the back of her head, Stormsong still thinks: I’ve praised her before, hoping she’ll get better, and she’s still left camp in the middle of the night shortly after. She’ll probably do it again. I wish she’d find a way to explain the calls she’s been receiving to me, and soon… Maybe then I can help her…

                • Moonpaw happily walked back to camp with her mentor , feeling that she had finally done something write.
I’m not just a dead-weight or a troublemaker for my clan! She thought. I’m not going to sneak out anymore.
In the middle of the night, after a long day of training , Moonpaw shifted in her nest, as the voice that had called her the day before, call her again.
Shut up, Moonpaw thought, I don’t even know what you want.
The voice whispered in her mind again, saying,” They are waiting for you, they are waiting for you…”
“ I’ll go to them tomorrow, after I have my mentor’s permission.” She mewed, agitated.
Satisfied, the voice calmed down and left Moonpaw to sleep.
( This kind of sounds like Frozen 2)

  • Morning came, and the sunlight shined on Moonpaw, waking her up.
She grumbled for a moment and then leaped out of her nest, remembering the ‘ conversation’ she had with the voice.
I need my mentor’s permission first, she thought.
Walking over to the Warriors den, making sure not to wake anyone else up, she walked over to Stormsong and mewed,” Wake up, Stormsong. It’s about the voice.”

    • MrrphMm…” Stormsong rolls over. Moonpaw prods her again, slightly harder. Stormsong opens an eye, and then blinks both of her eyes open with a yawn. “Hmm? Oh, Moonpaw,” she murmurs, her voice slightly slurred. Then her eyes open even wider and she quietly rises. Stormsong gives herself a little rousing shake. She gives Moonpaw a nod. “We should talk somewhere else,” she whispers, much more awake and aware.

The cats walk to one side of the clearing where the cat on watch can’t see or hear them (so the cat won’t get suspicious, confused, or concerned), and then Stormsong sits down. “All right, so, you said it was a… voice?!” This makes this matter seem so much more real and concerning than before!! Her ears flick back with alarm. “Do you think a ghost cat or a spirit from StarClan or even the Dark Forest is trying to get you to do something specific?” she whispers, having absolutely no idea what her apprentice hearing a voice could possibly mean for her.

      • “ I don’t know!” Moonpaw hissed angrily, then dipped her head.
I have no reason to be yelling at my mentor, all she’s trying to do is help, She thought guilty.
“ Im Sorry, it’s just that I’m so frustrated. It’s told me to go to them…” She trailed off as her heard something.
“ Get the permission and let’s go!” The voice urged,” They are waiting.”
“ Who are waiting?” Moonpaw whispered, not caring for a moment about the strange look Stormsong was giving her.
“ Your destiny!” The voice mewed so loud that Moonpaw was certain that everyone could hear it, though when she looked around, no cat had move one bit, as it was still early.
“ Stormsong.” Moonpaw addressed her mentor with a determination look in her eyes, hiding how terrified she was to do this.
“ I need to follow the voice .” She mewed,” Can you cover for me?”

        • Stormsong’s initial reaction is to panic. How in the name of StarClan am I going to cover for her?! No plan has come to her head yet, but she knows she’ll have to think of one with a heavy heart.

Also, Stormsong has no idea how safe Moonpaw will be, but if Moonpaw needs to follow the voices… Oh, Stormsong just hopes these voices are good… Storm, stop, she tells herself. Moonpaw has shown that she is capable of being mature. Trust her. She will ensure she comes home safely. And I sincerely doubt these voices will manage to trick her. If she senses trouble, she’ll know.

Stormsong nods. “Go, quick,” she hisses urgently, her apprentice’s own urgent aura wafting onto her. “Quietly.”

  • Moonpaw knew she couldn’t go wandering around in the forest alone without any cats.
I need help, She thought, And who better with weird stuff than Stormpaw..
She walked into the medicine den and called out,”Stormpaw, can you help me?”

    • ˜”*°•.˜”*°•Bee That Rests Near Golden Fire(Goldenbee) •°*”˜.•°*”˜ says:

Stormpaw jumped, then quickly collected herself. “Hi, Moonpaw. What can I do for you?”

      • “ Okay, this is gonna sound crazy, but your a medicine cat, you guys get crazy stuff all the time, right?” With Stormpaw’s nod, Moonpaw impulsively went on,” So, for the last few days, a voice has been telling me, and warning me, and generally making my life a nightmare. I’ve told it I would follow it, so, I was thinking… maybe you can come with me?”

        • ˜”*°•.˜”*°•Bee That Rests Near Golden Fire(Goldenbee) •°*”˜.•°*”˜ says:

Stormpaw cocked her head thoughtfully. “You’ve heard a voice?” She glanced at Moonpaw. “But I mean…if this has something to do with Starclan…we should check it out.” She slid out of the medicine den. “Lead the way,” she told Moonpaw.

          • Moonpaw walked to the entrance of the camp quietly with Stormpaw behind her. She then strained her ear and the voice called,” This way, They’re waiting and they can’t do that forever.” Following the voice’s institution, she plunged into the forest with Stormpaw at her side.

            • ˜”*°•.˜”*°•Bee That Rests Near Golden Fire(Goldenbee) •°*”˜.•°*”˜ says:

Stormpaw padded beside Moonpaw, her mind filled with uncertainties. “Have you heard the voice before?” she asked Moonpaw. She twitched her ear. “If the cat was from Starclan I probably would’ve heard them by now.”

              • “ I’ve only heard it a few times, since I became an apprentice.” Moonpaw admitted,” But I trust it. Just cause your a medicine cat doesn’t mean that you hear everything that’s going on in Starclan.” Moonpaw pointed out.
While walking, Moonpaw stepped on a sharp thorn and hissed angrily,” Are you serous?!”

                • ˜”*°•.˜”*°•Bee That Rests Near Golden Fire(Goldenbee) •°*”˜.•°*”˜ says:

Stormpaw paused and examined the thorn. “Hold still,” she muttered. She managed to extract the thorn and spat it on the ground. “Lick it hard,” she said to Moonpaw. “Do you need herbs?”

  • [Just a fair warning that I may be changing my purrsona, but to make things simpler, I will still be roleplaying as Stormsong for this roleplay. Just a heads-up, and letting you know that you don’t have to worry about that.]

Back in camp, Stormsong only just manages to sneak back into her nest without waking any cat up; she’s surprised she managed it, as she is not good at sneaking. Lifting her head, she holds her breath as she sees cats around her beginning to shirt or murmur. She relaxes as they fall to rest again, their breathing patterns steadying, regulating restfully. She curls up in her nest, resting her head on her paws, anxiety coursing through her at the prospect that any cat at any moment could realize that Moonpaw is missing and ask questions. She knows she won’t be able to fall back asleep, but she chose to come to her nest instead of staying awake to avoid suspicion. She just had to make sure she didn’t toss and turn too awfully much. [Since I don’t know how long you guys’ll be gone and if it’ll be long enough to be a problem, I’ll leave it there for now.]
