Need a break from the hubbub of the rest of the blog? Or perhaps you just want a quiet page to discuss Warriors in depth. In any case, feel free to unwind in the Elders’ Den!
![a long-furred grey cat with yellow eyes sits, staring at the camera](https://blogclan.katecary.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2023/03/different-cat-breeds-how-to-identify-pet-cats.png)
[a very fluffy grey cat with thick fur around its neck, long whiskers, and yellow eyes stares into the camera]
What exactly is this page, then? It’s a place to discuss, in detail, particular aspects of the Warriors series – to pick apart ideas and themes that perhaps either get overlooked elsewhere or require a nuanced perspective. And more broadly, it’s a quiet refuge away from the bustle of the rest of the blog!
If there is a more serious subject you’d like to discuss within the Warriors universe, remember to remain respectful of what people are saying and to handle the topics in question with the necessary care and respect. Does this mean this is a page solely for discussing controversial topics? Of course not, but rather if they appear, the mods ask that everyone involved remain calm and thoughtful – should a discussion verge too far into argument territory, we may step in and put an end to it.

If you’re looking for a general place to talk about Warriors but you feel like your comment doesn’t quite fit the Elder’s Den, check out the Sunning Patch!
It’s not Mapleshade’s fault, if my kits died in the river, I got dumped by my mate and kicked out of my Clan, i’d go crazy too
I’m honestly not up for a rant atm but I really hope you wouldn’t murder three people even if that happened
That’s not an excuse to murder three cats, and attempt to murder a pregnant queen. Mapleshade’s actions are not excusable.
I agree ^^
I agree that this is not excusable but I feel like she could have been a great cat and learned to get over her grief if SOMEONE would have excepted her, but all of her close friends, family, and even her mate and clan abandoned her AND right after all her kits died. Anyone could go crazy at this point, it’s not ok to kill all those cats, but I can understand her point of view
Sorry for the long rant 🤪 I am simply a Mapleshade sympathizer (as seen above) so I have a lot to say on this topic
She could have been friends with Myler lol
true. but all that shows is that cats/humans do a lot of evil things under severe trauma. just because humans would do it does not make it okay. there are a lot of terrible things that humans do, even good humans. doesn’t make it morally okay. NOW, if you were in fiction… that’s a different story.
though let’s face it I might murder three people too if that happened
good golly
My reaction at this point. How do so many people see Mapleshade and say ‘yep. Justified for sure. I’d do the same.’
“i’d do the same” doesn’t make it justified. raise your hand if you’ve ever done something morally wrong under pressure? *hands go up* yeah that’s what I thought. not murder, (i hope /hj) though.
True. It is human nature to do perhaps somewhat immoral things in a trying situation. Although in this case Kindlepaw is implying that they think that Mapleshade’s behavior was justified. A concerning amount of people lately have been thinking along the same lines.
ikr
Oh, I won’t. Take it this way… you’re 3 kittens got run over by a car and your family scolds you and ur crush hates YOU bc for some stupid reason. Would you plan to kill the people who watched ur kittens get runover, your family and ur crush? I hope not /nm
I mean I really don’t care at this point. Mapleshade can make her life miserable if she really wants to lol
Not feeling like talking about Mapleshade anymore but murder is never an okay thing to do, also can we pls stop always talking about Mapleshade or Ashfur cuz I’m getting really bored of them
Yes but surely you wouldn’t murder 3 cats because of it? /lh
y’all, ashy disappears for ONE SECOND and now maplegirl is back. I swear can we be original?
okay, distraction time!
what’s the stupidest ship in warrior cats that still ended up becoming canon? dating counts.
SKYSTAR AND STAR FLOWER DEFFFFFFF
Seconded
thirded!
FirexSpotted if its cannon
I agree.
LeafXCrow *dodges tomatoes*
YellowXRagged
Clear SkyXStorm (I really liked Bright Stream)
yes I agree with leaf and crow so much *dodges tomatoes*
feather crow forever!
FRRR LeafCrow is so random! Crow hates people, is aggressive, is violent, and hates listening to people. Leaf is sweet, quiet, and submissive. You see what I see?
Toxic right??
a leaf x crow hater is always welcome around me. plus, i still dont get why she fell for him and he fell for her.
ClearXBright FOREVERRRRR
Oh my goodness yes I agree on Leaf x Crow (like WHAT)
(Dodges tomatoes)
The new one that shall not be named in the Elder’s Quest. Even if it’s just “feelings”, it still counts 😛
Frrr
Oh dear, if you’re talking about what I think you’re talking about, I wholeheartedly agree
ahhh yes… that one… *laughs hysterically* haven’t even read elder’s quest, but seriously that ship is just… *facepaws* I mean it could be done well, but just not NOW.
Hope they don’t get together
realll
Yes I will now adress that ship as “Ship That Shall Not Be Named”
What ship- *realizes* oh.
You guys the suspense is killing me 😭
read elder’s quest
fully agreed
NARRR I love that ship! My new fave!
CrowTawny. It’s not even close; it was so random.
Wait, CrowTawny is real?????!?!?!?
Didn’t Crowfeather already have like, 3 basically mates?
He’s working on having at least one mate from each Clan. You can’t blame him- he’s gotta catch ‘em all.
😛
🔴⚪POKEMAWN⚪🔴
*facepaws so hard* the very mention of that ship… please erins don’t ruin crowfeather i loved him.
totally agreed 😭😭😭 it’s the absolute most random ship they could have come up with
and now crowfeather’s offically collected a love interest from each og clan
gotta catch em all
That’s right. It’s…. SHE-CAT- MON
Let’s hope Tawnypelt dies and he becomes mates with Leafstar, so he can really catch ‘em all.
yesss lmao
HELP 😭 that’s wilddd
Fr I second Mallows
🎶FORBIDDEN ROMANCE, GOTTA CATCH ‘EM ALL🎶
Ik I really gonna sink into a puddle or evaporate into the trees :CCC It’s gonna ruin crowfeather. Like let him rest y’all
Frr
exactly!!!!!!!!!!
leafpool is his destined soul mate!!!!!!!!!!!!!he doesn’t even seem interested in the slightest!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!what?
LeafxCrow was so toxiccccc thoooo
Mistystar x Blackclaw
oh yeah blackclaw was just mean
Uhh Tawnypelt and Crowfeather. I swear, Tawny is wayyy too old to be dating, and Crowfeather is WindClan Deputy and has had three mates already
I agree the ship is bad, but why can’t old cats still date? I don’t get what the problem with that would be
Agreed. I was also freaking out when it first cames but now that I think about it, the ship’s kinda amusing
Yeah, but they went through a lot together! Besides, don’t you think Crow deserves a romance that ACTUALLY ENDS WELL???? And Tawny really needs to get over Rowanclaw like gurl it’s been two series get OVER him already
Eh idk
Maybe like erm CloudxBright, bc before the dog thingie, cloud had like 0 interest for bright (if I’m remembering correctly, if I’m not then erm idk)
Actually he did have interest before dog attack 😛
That’s why he reacted the way he did when he realized Bright was seriously injured, but didn’t care too much that Swift was dead.
JayXStick. I know it’s not cannon, but at this point I must say (Don’t kill me all JayXStick shippers)
SquilfXBramble
JAYXSTICK 4EVER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Have you thought about Grey Wing loves Bright Stream too?
Grey x Bright would be wonderful
Well yeah ig 😛 Gray x Turtle forever tho!!
Agreed!
CrowxNight (they held grudges because one used the other to get something, even though they were both using each other) and OnexSmoke (Onewhisker was terrible to Smoke).
Can anyone object to these?:
Swiftpaw was dumb trying to kill the dogs
Firestar and GRaystripe where not smart to go back to Thunderclan by going on Riverclan territory after saving Windclan
Please do not take any offense, these are just opinions 🙂
Well yeah I agree 😛
I agree that they were poor decisions, but in Swiftpaw’s case I understand as his leader wasn’t letting him be a warrior and he desperately wanted to prove himself.
Please don’t hate me, I just like arguing.
I get that he wanted to prove himself, but they clearly saw the ” thing ” was killing lots of animals and had lots of big paw prints, pointing towards maybe several ” things ” that were big. He also didn’t even know what it was, he could have investigated first. Next he also asked the other apprentices to fight the ” things ” which is dangerous and not fight. This may sound mean, but I really do not hate Swiftpaw
And he didn’t exactly “try to kill the dogs.” As I recall, no one knew exactly what they were dealing with at that point.
But didn’t they see all the dead animals around where the “thing” was and the paw prints near it?
I think he just took the risk. It was either: prove himself and he might become a warrior, or stay in camp and be an apprentice forever.
guess he chose to be brave/dumb than to be shy and looked down on/patient.

yeah it was dumb but cats do dumber things all the time. oh who are we kidding humans do dumber things all the time. I would know. I do it.
They were both really dumb things but Swiftpaw was pretty young and he wanted to prove himself and Brightpaw to Bluestar, to the extent that he was willing to risk his life for being a warrior. But yeah Swiftpaw’s actions might show that he wasn’t fit to be a warrior in it’s own way 😛
Not to be rude (just a pet peeve of mine lol), but the whole point of Swiftpaw was that he was old enough to become a warrior. He was a competent young adult, not a child 😛
Which is why he should have made better decisions.
Swiftpaw wasn’t trying to kill the dogs, but I still heavily dislike him for what he did, tbh.
I know someone who made a new swiftpaw (a she-cat now) because she liked him so much. her name is Sketchpaw13 on warriorcat.com . (you can keep your opinion though, its yours)
I agreeeeeeeee so muchhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh
1: Yeah, that was a dumb decision. I get where it came from, though – especially since he and Brightheart/paw were quite young back then.
2: I don’t remember this, it’s been a while since I read the first series, but…Sounds like it.
Most of us can probably agree that “An honorable warrior does not need to kill to win their battles unless it’s necessary for self-defense” is one of the most important parts of the Warrior Code. But what do you think the appropriate consequences should be for a cat that breaks that rule? Clan leaders are notoriously inconsistent with how they enforce the Code, and we’ve never had an antagonist kill cats and then live for the Clans to have to come up with a long-term solution for what to do with them. What do you think would be a good punishment?
If the codebreaker seems willing to change, or guilty by way of insanity, then I think some type of rehabilitation program that shows them the weight of their actions and gives them the help they need is in order. Then some sort of preventative measures need to be put in place to make sure the behavior doesn’t happen again.
If the codebreaker shows no remorse and refuses to change then I don’t see any other option then terminating the spirit. If their existence is allowed, and they’ve shown that they refuse to change, then they’re just going to instigate further problems. The only option that’d work as far as I can see, would be removing them, healing the damage caused by their actions, and taking steps to make sure a repeat of that situation doesn’t occur.
I think that it depends on the circumstances surrounding the killing. Was it an accident (for example Lionblaze killing Russetfur)? Then I don’t think the cat should be punished. Was it to stop something very bad from happening (I.E. if Moonflower was about to destroy the medicine cats’ herbs when Hawkheart reached her)? Then I think the cat should also not be punished, as the killing was to stop something worse. But if the cat was fleeing (like Moonflower actually was) or fighting normally, I think the cat should feel remorse and be punished to show that unnecessary killing is truly a bad thing (I don’t think that a cat should be exiled for killing another warrior if they truly are remorseful- battles are very heated and cats can do something without really thinking of the consequences. Remorse is a normal response when a cat does realize the consequences). If the cat doesn’t feel remorse, I think that they should be exiled.
I’m glad you brought this up. This is, IMO, one of the more peculiar rules in the code, because it does not say “must not,” “should not,” or “shall not,” but merely “does not need to.” In other words, cats are not forbidden from killing in battle, but only discouraged from doing so. This seems to mean, use as much force as is needed to defeat your opponent, but no more. In practice, this seems mainly to mean allowing defeated enemies to escape.
When claws are unsheathed and teeth are bared in battle, death is always a possibility. I don’t think any warrior should be punished for killing an enemy in the normal course of battle, though if a defeated enemy is deliberately killed, that is a different matter. But who is able to observe and pass judgement on what happens in the heat of battle? There are no referees in clan battles.
omigosh finally someone else who noticed this problem AHHHHH white whiskers you are amazing
If it was planned murder, then maybe exile? If said cat was panicking or it was in self-defense, I think they shouldn’t be punished at all (only in Warriors, irl I think there should be consequences ofc)
Everyone’s doing this, so. . . I’ll justify your claims if you justify mine:
Bright Stream was Skystar’s true soulmate
Bluestar was to blame for TigerClan
Redtail had a crush on Tigerclaw
First one’s true tho 😛
guys,my brain is going into a whirlwind about tawnypelt’s stupid new feelings for crowfeather.someone help.i need to reassure my brain crowfeather and leafopool will still be together i starclan.i am too dedicated to crowleaf to let a random thing like this ruin crowfeather’s time in starclan!!!!!!!!!
I agree with the tawnypelt thing but I want Crowfeather to be mates with really no one in StarClan, maybe friends with them all but he really had his fair share of drama so yeah
Crowfeather’s gonna have an awkward time in StarClan 😛
Real…
aaaaa fr
I know right! Tawny and Crow is so stupid and random!
I agree with the tawny crow thing but AHHHHH i want feather crow again they were so cute
The Tawnypelt thingy is pathetic, and I think I want Crowfeather to be single in StarClan. Tbh I want him to hang out with Downkit and Eaglekit and Hillkit and Ashfoot and Deadfoot like fr he’s done with romance
Wait . . . I may have missed it, but when did Tawnypelt start having feelings for Crowfeather???😭
The Elders’ Quest.
I wonder if the cats in starclan can have kits
As far was we know, spirits can’t reproduce. (Although it would be interesting if this turned out to not be true . . .)
I don’t think so. It wouldn’t really make sense, as theoretically if they did it’s unclear if the kits would somehow be living in the afterlife, or would be effectively stillborn and spend their existence as fetuses.
I don’t think so… it would be kinda interesting tho 😛
Can I get ye’als opinions on the following:
1. Does Warriors do a good job of addressing real-world issues? If not why? And how would you rewrite Warriors to better touch on those types of topics?
2. Was Rowanstar to blame for what happened with ShadowClan in AVoS? Or do you think Darktail would’ve been able to cause dissension anyway regardless of what kind of leader Rowan was?
3. Where do you think StarClan get’s their prophecies from?
4. What did Rock do to get cursed?
1. Depends on the issue. I think ASC did a decent job of addressing Berryheart’s xenophobia and the importance of staying true to yourself and doing the right thing, even if it’s hard and your family doesn’t support you.
However, religious/cultural differences are downplayed, and many interactions between different groups go like this:
Clan cat: We believe in StarClan.
Wildcat/Tribe cat/Sister: That’s interesting. We believe (insert beliefs here).
Clan cat: Okay. That’s sort of similar to how we do (insert).
Wildcat/Tribe cat/Sister: Cool. Now, let’s work together to solve whatever problem brought us together in the first place.
(Note that I said many interactions go this way, not all.)
I think it would be much better if there was a genuine conflict between two groups based on their beliefs, and they actually had to put in some effort to understand each other and overcome their biases.
As well, Spottedleaf’s Heart was obviously written to tackle a real-life issue, but it was a total and colossal fail that most of the fandom likes to pretend doesn’t exist. I’d like to see a cat be in a position similar to Spottedleaf, but stand up for herself, tell the higher-ranking cats, and have the Thistleclaw equivalent be punished. That would communicate a far better message to any young readers who might find themselves in Spottedleaf’s position.
I’d also like to see more situations where an antagonist is not only in a position of power, but has support from many of their Clanmates and/or other leaders. In earlier arcs, the villains were ambitious tyrants who killed and threatened to gain their power. Most of the other cats didn’t truly support them, but were coerced into doing their bidding, and fairly soon, they were either killed or exiled. I’d like to see a more subtle antagonist, whose Clan, for the most part, supports their actions. In real life, villains aren’t always bogeymen who take power through force and fear, and I would like to see Warriors address the more subtle ways in which someone could do bad things.
I’d also like to see more representation (of literally every type) in Warriors, and I don’t think that needs a paragraph of explanation.
2. Not entirely. I think his weakness as a leader certainly helped Darktail get his claws into the Clans, but Darktail was a determined and smart cat bent on revenge. If Rowanstar had been stronger, he’d have just found another way to achieve his goals.
3. My current theory is that the River of Spirits that we saw in Ivypool’s Heart has a spring in a special and sacred place, and that place is where prophecies are born.
4. No clue 😛
1. Warriors is a series targeted towards a young demographic (8-12). As such, I don’t think it would ever be capable of perfectly encapsulating the realities of many world issues. The unconscious biases of the clan cats do draw an interesting parallel to the very Eurocentric view many in the west have (I wish they had provided a meaningful conclusion to this). I don’t personally believe Warriors needs to tackle highly mature issues, however I do think they could refine some of the social and political topics they portray.
2. Rownstar is not entirely to blame, though his weakness enabled Darktail to easily take charge. All the adults carry some level of blame for molding the youth of the clan into belligerent and angry cats. However, I believe Darktail would have been able to capture ShadowClan regardless.
3. A higher power, one that has no clear explanation.
4. This is pure speculation, but I theorise that he tampered with something far greater than himself, and was punished as a result. His immortality seems like a burden rather that a gift bestowed upon him.
1. Ultimately I think that for many issues, Warriors does a decent job at addressing them. There are decent themes of gray areas in a cat’s personality, romance, jealousy, and many other topics. However once in a while Warriors will go against this and include messages that aren’t for the best. For example, in Spottedleaf’s Heart, Spottedleaf kinda blames herself for everything that happened between her and Thistleclaw at the end. She becomes a medicine cat and gives up her hopes for her life, and no one really points out that what happened was not her fault. This is of course not assuring for anyone going through a situation like she did. Also, there are a multitude of times where cats give up everything for a cat they had a brief relationship with (I.E. Finch Song and Riverstar) which isn’t always for the best- it can lead to someone rushing into something that isn’t built on steady ground. I would probably change this by showing a few scenarios where this doesn’t work out for the best, giving the reader a more nuanced perspective on heart vs. head, which is effectively what situations like that boil down to.
2. I don’t think he helped. He wasn’t a very good leader and wasn’t really in control of his cats. A leader should be kind and understanding but also assertive, and Rowanclaw was missing that as a quality. Darktail probably would’ve wreaked havoc anyway but Rowanclaw could’ve lessened the effect.
3. I believe StarClan cats have a kind of mental source for their prophecies. I think that they suddenly are aware of a prophecy when forces unknown to Warriors cause them to know a prophecy that impacts the living cats. I don’t think many StarClan cats would intentionally give living cats a hard time via being overly cryptic if they knew what the prophecy really meant.
4. I’m not sure. In Warriors, spirit cats, whether they be StarClan or someone else, seem to be able to curse cats for absolutely no reason just to make their lives miserable. Look at Goosefeather. He was a promising young cat until StarClan ruined his life with their awful curse. He became insane and spent the rest of his years confused and haunted. This caused Moonflower’s death, Crookedstar’s injury, possibly Nightkit and Mistkit’s early demise, and many other deaths directly or indirectly linked to StarClan deciding for absolutely no reason to continually bother him until he went insane (cats like Pinestar, Tigerclaw, Bluestar, Snowfur, Willowbreeze, and many others were all negatively impacted by Goosefeather due to his antisocial behavior later in his life). So perhaps Rock was like Goosefeather, and did nothing wrong, or perhaps he did something to deserve a curse like the one StarClan gave him. I don’t think we’ll ever know.
1. I hate to say this, but as much as I love Warriors, I don’t think it does a good job presenting real-world issues. For example, age gaps between mates are normalized, such as in Dustpelt x Ferncloud and Pinestar x Leopardfoot. Spottedleaf’s Heart awfully portrays a serious adult topic in the perspective of the victim, leaving Thistleclaw with little consequence within the book and Spottedleaf blaming herself. Another topic that isn’t portrayed well is ableism, with the situations of Cinderpelt, Brightheart, and Briarlight. Brightheart is different to the other two in that she still became a warrior, but Cinderpelt became a medicine cat and Briarlight was confined to the medicine den for the rest of her life. If I could fix this, I would probably alter the timeline so that the age gaps would be smaller. I would also fix Spottedleaf’s Heart so that she had someone to confide in (say, Bluestar) and doesn’t take the blame, like with Frostpaw and Nightheart at the end of Thunder.
2. I haven’t read AVoS, but no, I don’t think so. I think Darktail would have caused distress anyways in ShadowClan, since he had brewed trouble in a stable SkyClan with Leafstar as their leader. I think he could have been prevented from becoming evil if Onestar had accepted him into WindClan.
3. I’m pretty sure StarClan gets their prophecies from a higher power. If I’m correct, this was confirmed in PoT and OotS with StarClan stating that the “there will be three” prophecy did not belong to them. Hopefully this will be explored further in future books.
4. I have no idea. Unlike with StarClan and their prophecies, I don’t think we’ll learn any more than we already do about Rock and Midnight :/
1. Absotively not. The Erins are god awful at addressing any issues that go beyond superficial, generic messages of ‘oh killing people bad, unity good!’ (and even then the series contradicts itself time and time again). Just look at the countless instances and accusations of ableism a la Briarlight and Snowpaw, the issues of cultural appropriation of Native Americans plus disasters like Thistleclaw and Spottedleaf. The Clans are atrociously xenophobic in regards to each other despite, again, the quote unquote messages of unity that get introduced and promptly dropped with every new arc. Remember that tentative peace after the great battle? Lasted about two books. Not to mention the noticeable lack of openly queer characters despite some very obvious hinting. Misogyny is also an integral part of the series that often gets brushed aside (look at all the she-cats who devolve into the same ‘sweet and gentle’ archetype after having kits). I love these books but if you want profound themes look elsewhere.
2. Yes. Nature abhors a vacuum and Rowanstar’s leadership, or rather lack thereof, created a vacuum that Darktail swooped in to fill.
3. Hardly matters considering how vague and confusing they usually sound.
4. something something tampering with StarClan (or an organizations similar)
1. Maybe it is too much to expect a series of fantasy books targeted at 8–12 yo readers to deal with complex real-world social issues. One that the books clearly fail to deal with well is mental illness. Several cats in the series have mental breakdowns and behave in a way that harms both them and others: Bluestar, Goosefeather, Hollyleaf, and Mapleshade are the most obvious. No one is able to help these characters to see what is wrong and to change their behavior.
4. We don’t really know what Rock is or how he came to be that way. He is clearly older than StarClan, because he was tallying the survivals and deaths in the tunnels during the time of the ancients at the lake, and already had the hairless, blind form in which we see him. StarClan did not begin until after the first battle in DotC, when the cats killed in the battle and others who died on the Sun Trail rise from the dead to lecture the survivors.
Was Rock ever a normal, mortal cat, or is he just some weird immortal spirit being that happens to appear in cat form? In one of the books (I don’t remember which), it is said that Rock and Midnight had been there “since the first sunrise over the lake.” This is not quite the same as since the creation of the world, it but could be many thousands of years. Because he says he is “cursed,” it doesn’t necessarily mean that some other, greater power has cursed him. It may just be that seeing the future but being unable to change it is just part of his nature.
1. Yes I think they addressed a lot of issues in an age appropriate way, and some couldn’t be done by cats.
2. I think Rowanstar was to partly blame but Darktail would have caused havoc in some way or the other, despite Rowanstar’s actions.
3. I agree with Shrubpaw on this one but I’m not exactly sure how
4. I don’t know
1. I think it does, at some points. But I’ve never really thought of the books in that way, and it could absolutely have been done better.
2. I don’t think it was Rowanstat’s fault, I think it was the Clan’s own fault. All the cats who joined the Kin.
3. Uhhhh OuterSpaceClan 👍
4. Idk he stole someone’s chips
I would definitely curse someone for stealing my chips.
me too ✨
Real.
same, dude, same
Sure, they do a pretty okay job but in some areas, I think they should put more thought into characters and/or research such as before writing about mental illnesses.
Haven’t read AVoS yet
Dunno, I always thought they all made them up but I haven’t read the most recent books to know more about their lore.
I believe in this old “Jayfeather is Rock” theory where Rock in the past refused to let Half Moon go which resulted in awful outcomes and now he’s stuck in a messy timeline where he has to guide every future Jayfeather to do the right thing. It just makes more sense and is way more interesting, in my opinion :p.
1. I feel like they’re not very obvious because I never really notice them 🤪but maybe I’m just being silly.
2. NO! I feel bad for Rowanstar everyone blames him😭😭 The apprentices and young cats were at fault and Darktail took advantage of them
3. No idea… I’ve always tried to not think that deep but fail. Maybe the Ancient cats? Or the stars? Oh wait they are the stars… I dunno
4. Hmmm I only recently came across this question. I think he nearly died in the Tunnels and some kind of force gave him eternal life so that he’d survive. Oo maybe that force is the thing that gives them prophecies…
TIME TO MAKE A DISPUTE HEHEHE/j
Do you like Ashfur or Mapleshade better and why? No this is asking which is BETTER not which is more JUSTIFIED. But you can put that in your reasoning. If you agree exactly with someone type I agree in a reply. That’s all🥳🥳🥳🥳🎊🎊🎉🎉
obvious, but ashy of course. i don’t feel like ranting today
Mapleshade. I think she ultimately had a better (though still not good enough for justification) reason for doing the things she did. In her eyes, Ravenwing, Frecklewish, and Reedshine had all caused or worsened the tragedy of losing her kits, and she felt that she had to avenge her lost kits by killing each one of them. Her story was very interesting and I love debating about the innocence of her victims.
Agreed!
I second this!
i agree ^^
I agree
I agree :DD
I second this :DD
Ashfur! Both are vicious from a morality standpoint, but Ashfur is arguably more interesting for me, and his backstory is more relevant to the arcs. Mapleshade had an intriguing love life, but, in the end, it is only a novella, and I dislike the writing choice for these couple of chapters to fuel her desire to destroy the Clans. Crookedstar’s Promise is an exception for me because her desire to rip apart Appledusk’s descendants seems more relevant to her history 🙂 On the other hand, Ashfur’s love life directly plays a role in his actions, and his control of the spirit realm, afterlife, and ghosts was so spooky! I had chills reading The Path of No Stars, and his ultimate death with Bristlefrost was a heartbreaking scene, a display of writing that touched many hearts <3 ~ Nix
Mapleshade, because I find her story more interesting and less messy. The whole Ashfur thingy is just too much imo 😛 Plus Mapleshade is kinda cool, even tho she wasn’t justified in any way, and I like her as a villain, while I’m not really a fan of Ashfur anyway haha
Mapleshade is really popular, but I will always hate her cuz she reminds me of a real-life person I know, so definitely Ashfur. From what I’ve seen, Ashfur’s story could have happened to any ordinary person. Yes, his actions seem annoying, and he seems too clingy to the past, but as a villain, he just causes a LOT more trouble from what I’ve heard of TBC. Mapleshade is interesting too, but I am just used to hating her at this point 😛
ASHFUR ALL THE WAY!!! He was an amazing character with a sad backstory (his mother was killed by Tigerstar then he got dumped and his girlfriend went to the person she originally dumped girl WHAT) and seemed nicer when he was a good guy.
To preface, Ashfur is my son
anways, jokes aside, I never really liked Mapleshade cuz like…idk she just was really awful, even before she started her murder rampage. I understand why people like her, it’s just when people JUSTIFY her actions it gets a little….
okay i won’t go into it that’s a whole article on it’s own
but anyways, I’ve always really liked Ashfur. When he was a sweet little boy in TNP, to when he was a bloodthirsty killer finally dying with Bristlefrost in that lake. I’ve just always had a weird attachment to him. Maybe cuz I like the emo characters idk :3
ashfur for reasons i dont feel comfortable listing rn
i’m raging on the inside teehee
is anyone else seriously bothered by how easy the prophecies were to understand? especially in ivypool’s heart, I mean come on guys 😭 when the first one was introduced I kept waiting for the ‘nope, we completely misunderstood it, whoopsies!’ but it never came. that used to be one of the best things about warriors (imo) and now it’s just faded into oblivion 😛
Agreed!
I recently read Star, and there was a prophecy (won’t add here word by word for spoiler reasons) and while I was glad they were trying to add back the prophecies, the meaning was so obvious. Take that prophecy in comparison to the main one in Forest of Secrets from TPB, “water can quench fire”. Unlike the former, this prophecy has multiple meanings that are never narrowed down and aren’t completely understood even when the book ends. I think that kind of prophecy is the one I’d like to see 😛
ummm, kinda? idk. mostly I’m just mad that they STILL rely on prophecies. like, seriously, StarClan is NOT the answer to everything. not gonna go into details because this feels like one of those moments the conversation goes into the sidebar
THIS!!! I agree so much, starclan members are dead so they should stay out of the living cats lives
me side eyes my fanfic. uhhhhhhhhhhh
you have a fanfic?!? what’s it about?
I see what you mean and agree

Out of curiosity… What are the ranks for the clans in your opinion and why? Also what clan would you want to be in?
Mine is:
1. SkyClan – They are independent and peaceful who always try to do the right thing. I love that clan! Besides, I love their skill. (Leaping & climbing)
2. ShadowClan – They’re so cool! I like how secretive they are and I’d feel very powerful as a ShadowClan cat.
3. ThunderClan – Classic Clan with great characters. It’s getting worse but I enjoy finding family trees in there (ASHFUR AND BRISTLEFROST ARE RELATED WHAT??)
4. RiverClan – I liked RiverClan under Leopardstar but not under Mistystar. I liked Mistystar herself but not her ruling technique. I hope the newest leader (Not saying who for spoiler reasons) makes it better again.
5. WindClan – They’ve always annoyed me by being stand-offish and rude. I also find them cowardly.
I’d want to be in SkyClan for reasons above.
In order of which I’d want to live in, I’d put:
1. RiverClan (I like swimming and would probably enjoy fish).
2. SkyClan (they seem more affable than other Clans and more lax on Clan rules and traditions).
3. ThunderClan (they’re brave and loyal to each other).
4. ShadowClan (Secretive and good at sneaking up on prey).
5. WindClan (they are usually described as skinny and are always getting into fights).
1. RiverClan- they’re really unique and have a creative lifestyle! the lore about their clan, such as swimming, decorative dens, is really cool.
2. WindClan- the most underrated clan! i like their past traditions of visiting loners and tunneling.
3. ShadowClan- they’re often portrayed as the “villains” of warriors, but they’re quite interesting and i love the lore surrounding them <3
4. ThunderClan- i don't always like the bias encompassing the clan, but i love how they're a group of cats in a tightly knit community and an open mind.
5. SkyClan- i lowk just don't like them much, I just find skyclan slightly boring and they don't have many characters that appeal to me.
as you can see, i'd live in riverclan!! ^_^
id want to be in shadowclan because idk they suit my personality
also i pretty much agree with your rankings except id boop skyclan down to second or third haha
(the tribe is my favorite but since you’re asking clans)
Windclan – they always have the most complex characters IMO and I love their territory! plus they have tallstar and crowfeather-
Shadowclan – I just love them! not as much a windclan tho- tbh so much drama happens there that’d i’d be happy to just watch lol
Warriorclan – they are so goofy and I’d love to join them as they build their version of a clan and see what happens
Bloodclan – I love the tough demeanor and hardened lifestyle they have and I think I’d enjoy life in the alleys even if it was a difficult life
Thunderclan – they are kinda overrated but sunbeam is there so they rank higher now lol
Riverclan – I enjoy swimming and they always survive leafbare with a higher survival rate due to having fish so yeah
Skyclan – I only like them in the gorge ngl, they were adaptable, curious and had daylight warriors! but they are a bit too peaceful and their existence near the lake has made so many problems that they really just annoy me 😐
anyways I’d want to join Windclan lol
1. RiverClan: they just cool. I like their skills
2. ShadowClan: I love evil clans
3. Windclan: they’re meh
4. SkyClan: kinda boring, I hate leafstar
5. ThunderClan: cliche, “good”, “hey there, let’s poke our nose in everyone’s business” Clan
1. RiverClan – I like that they have a different taste in prey than the other Clans. I would also have lots of fun swimming : )
2. ShadowClan – This would have been number 1, but I cannot stand Tigerstar and would hate him as my leader. They’re a good Clan though and I think are used as the villain Clan way too much!
3. SkyClan – They’re cool
4. ThunderClan – They’re definitely overrated, but I would definitely like living in a big group.
5. WindClan – Never. All their cats are so snappy and I don’t like this Clan at all.
I would probably join ShadowClan if they got a new leader. A better and less annoying leader.
1. ShadowClan. something something shadowclan will always be the dark heart of the forest just gets my inner eleven year old edgelord in a frenzy
2. RiverClan. swimming and seafood. cmon now
3. SkyClan. pre-lake SkyClan was by far the best clan also I loved daylight warriors
4. ThunderClan. Bland, generic, but not overly offensive.
5. WindClan. Onestar singlehandedly destroyed the rep of this clan in my eyes also every windclan warrior seems to be twice as annoying and bristly (see: Nightcloud, Crowfeather, Breezepelt, aforementioned Onestar)
1. WindClan. Unpopular opinion but I wholeheartedly love WindClan. Idk I just love the idea of being under an open sky and running rather than climbing and sneaking around. I love open spaces when they’re empty of people, one of the main reasons I miss Iceland so bad 😛
2. SkyClan. They’re peaceful and nice, and it’s cool that they climb trees. They also haven’t done much yet in the series that disturbs me in any way lol
3. ShadowClan. Idk they’re just cool, and while they’re kinda bratty I just kinda like the vibe of their camp 😛
4. RiverClan. I know, controversial of me to put it so far down, but I honestly just don’t care much about RiverClan, like, they swim and I’m not a fan of swimming so like what’s the point 😛 Anyways I mainly think they’re overrated
5. ThunderClan. Don’t get me wrong I don’t hate ThunderClan or anything, I just think they’re boring anf cliché and they literally don’t have anything that makes them unique lol
And obviously I’d like to be in WindClan because they’re the besttttt
1. BlogClan. I will not expect anything else from any of you 😛
2. WindClan. So HATEDD but yet they have fascinating characters.
3. ShadowClan. I just like the dynamics shown in Night Whispers.
4. ThunderClan. Classic kitties :3
5. SkyClan. They’re cool I suppose
6. RiverClan. I don’t really care about them and they are really overrated imo
riverclan – fish cats. need i say more?
shadowclan – super underrated, went through a lot but still strong
thunderclan – overused but iconic
windclan – boring and grumpy
skyclan – unnecessary plot device
1. ThunderClan
2. ShadowClan
3. RiverClan
4. SkyClan
5. WindClan
Cosmosgem brought this up, but I would like to prompt further discussion on this subject.
Do you all think that, for the most part, Warriors addresses appropriate themes for its audience? Do you think the themes it addresses are too basic/vague, or should the series delve into darker, more complex topics? Do you think that Warriors addresses bad themes, or misrepresents topics it tries to cover? Do you think that ultimately, Warriors provides apt thematic elements for its audience, which is largely made up of children?
I think it brings up some serious subjects, but in a not too serious way since after all they’re just cats living in a forest. I think that’s a good thing, because it makes some good points to the young audience without making the series scary or cruel, even if the subject is scary and cruel.
