It's only three days old and already one of my favorite songs!! 😀
I love a lot of his songs (I gotta ramble about Under His Wings soon, it's such a comfort song!!) and as soon as I saw he'd made one based on John 3:16-17 I was so happy to listen! That's such a special verse for sure <3
And when I listened I suddenly felt that I relate so much to all the feelings described!! All the shame and worry in the beginning, were really the EXACT description of what God pulled me out of when He led me to finally understand the Truth of what Jesus did for me on the cross. :')
It's been really special to hear a song that describes my Salvation experience so accurately! 🙂
God so loved the world, that he gave His only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. and I hadn’t fully UNDERSTOOD that until several years back but this incredible Blessing took such a burden off my shoulders! 😭

i feel like lyrics is one of those things that can either make or break the song, and really good lyrics are what make songs worth discussing and remembering 😀 here are some lyrics i think are really good (also some analysis/interpretation because i like to analyze lyrics in my free time!):

this song is about having two different voices in your head, one being more confident and the other being more of an overthinker. this stanza could either be interpreted as the voices arguing, with the overthinker trying to get the confident voice to take over and get everyone to love them, or just the confident voice telling you what to do.
tame impala – tomorrow’s dust
Sympathy for the fauna
Fragile life in the sauna
In the sea getting warmer
Endlessly ’round the corner
this stanza is referring to global warming, which ties into the song’s theme of time passing while the singer is having trouble breaking from his previous tendencies. previous lyrics talk about making the same mistakes over and over again (currents reference 😳), and this stanza is talking about how he wants to stop making mistakes (like contributing to global warming) but he just can’t. it sounds like a lame excuse, but he keeps on remembering his older self and going back to it unintentionally. i know i’m rambling at this point but i absolutely love the theme of this song

recently i’ve been obsessed with tame impala’s old stuff! currents and tsr are great don’t get me wrong but when the feeling’s in the core is something else entirely and it’s a crime that it’s not on spotify
kevin parker has such a nice lower register and you can really hear it in his unreleased songs from like 2008 it’s almost enchanting
i would really recommend listening to some old tame impala oddities (when the feelings in the core, my lover mother nature, latenight moonlight, etc.) if you want some pure psychedelic rock!
