My Top Five favorite Medicane Cats by Sunheart

BarkfaceSunheart returns to a favourite topic – medicine cats. Who do you love best?

Hello Blogclan! Today I am going to share my Top Five fav Medicane cats! Let’s get started!
Honorable Mentions- Yellowfang, Mudfur, Featherwhisker, and Cinderpelt.

5- Barkface
I have always loved Barkface as a Medicine cat, he served his clan for a LONG time. He was kind, and caring. Ever since Tallstars Revenge, I have loved him. His was a cute kit, a good Medicine cat, and deserves to be on this list.

4- Spottedleaf
I love Spottedleafs character, so I had to put her on this list. We didn’t see much of her Med cat abilities, but what we could see was amazing. She was dedicated to heal her clan mates, and let’s not forget that she got the Fire Alone can save our Clan omen. It’s a shame that she died so early into the series, I would have loved to see more of her.

3- Leafpool
I really enjoyed Leafpools character, she WAS a good Med cat, even if she broke the code. She couldn’t help falling in love. She saved many cats lives and was a good mentor to Jayfeather. I am happy that she is back as a Medicane cat in the new books ^^

2- Littlecloud
Ahh Littlecloud, I have loved him since the very beginning. He will always be one of the best Med cats in all of Warriors history. I really like how he actually ACCEPTS help from other Mediciane cats. They ARE supposed to help each other. He went from a warrior, to being inspired to become a Mediciane cat. He is caring, kind, and probably the softest Shadowclan cat I have ever seen! xD

1- Jayfeather
Jayfeather! Is meh overall fav Mediciane cat because, well I barley have to explain. He did SO much for his clan, saved so many lives. He may be grumpy, but he shows us that being blind can’t stop you from being a normal cat. He was an adorable kit, and he is the best Med cat in Warriors history in my opinion.

  • 5. Yellowfang. She was grumpy, but was dedicated to ShadowClan and ThunderClan and served them both loyally. She was determined to fix the mistake that she had made, and was loyalbto her last breath.
    4. Mothwing. She shows that you don’t have to believe in StarClan to be a medicine cat. Even though she doesn’t believe, she still serves RiverClan loyally, and sided with Jayfeather when everyone thought he was a murderer
    3. Littlecloud. Same reason as Sunheart. He was sweet and thoughtful.
    2. Sagewhisker. Why? She took time to understand cats and their feelings, and was loyal to ShadowClan and Yellowfang. She even kept her secret when Yellowfang broke the medicine cat code, unlike some medicine cats I can name*cough* Ravenwing *cough*.
    1. Fawnstep. No reason. Just coudn’t think of someone.

    • I agree with everyone but Sagewhisker – it really bugged me when she basically bullied Yellowfang into becoming a medicine cat with the reasoning that Yellowfang would never be able to ignore other cats’ pain enough to focus on being a warrior. And then the first thing she does when Yellowfang finally gives in – teaches her how to ignore other cats’ pain so she could focus on being a medicine cat, proving that she was a hypocrite and Yellowfang could have been a warrior after all.

        • The same thing bugged me with Jayfeayher basically being bullied into being a medicine cat by Leafpool and Spottedleaf, when no one ever really gave him a real chance to be a warrior. I don’t think we ever even saw him have a hunting or fighting training session, and half the time he was stuck in camp being punished. Of course he didn’t know how to fight Owlpaw – he’d never been taught how to fight. And then Spottedleaf pretty much bullied him into giving up before he’d really ever had a chance. I think if he’d gotten proper training, he would’ve been able to be a warrior.

          • Same! I’ve always felt that these were either plotholes, the Erin’s didn’t really think about them, or Leafpool and Sagewhisker were kind of selfish and a bit of a jerk… I was always really sad that Jayfeather never got his dream. I’m torn between wanting him to be happy as a medicine cat, and wanting him to pull a Cinderpelt and be reborn as a warrior.

            Poor Yellowfang- I’ve always found it a lame reason that she couldn’t be a warrior simply because it was her “destiny”. It was one of the times I was maddest at StarClan. And if not for Sagewhisker, Yellowfang might’ve been Yellowstar, and Brokenkit would have had a different name and a different life. Who knows? Maybe Wishkit and Hopekit would have survived…

            • I agreed, I think in Leafpool’s case it was more out of concern for her son, and to be fair Jayfeather was both blind and his power was even more fitting with a medicine cat’s powers than Yellowfang’s. Spottedleaf bullying him into it bugs me more. And Sagewhisker bullying Yellowfang into it bugs me a lot. 😛 And I agree, the “because destiny” argument always bugged me.

      • Honestly, I believe Sagewhisker was very caring about informing Yellowfang. She did have a point that StarClan had a different path for her. Sagewhisker felt pretty bad for Yellowfang, but it’s what StarClan wanted. I wouldn’t blame Sagewhisker for Yellowfang’s destiny.

        • Did StarClan ever tell Yellowfang that they wanted her to follow that path? No, it was Sagewhisker who kept telling Yellowfang she /had/ to be a medicine cat, even though Sagewhisker teaching her to control her powers clearly shows that she didn’t. She ignored what Yellowfang wanted and basically bullied her into accepting being a medicine cat.

          And even if it was the will of StarClan – so what? StarClan isn’t always right, and they don’t get to boss around cats by forcing them into jobs they don’t want. Whatever happened to “you are not the playthings of StarClan?” No one should just have to give up their dreams and follow a path they don’t want just because “destiny says so.”

  • Cool article! I agree with a lot of your points

    My list would be

    1 – Jayfeather
    2 – Yellowfang
    3 – Mothwing
    4 – Alderpaw
    5 – Littlecloud maybe?

    The only cat I disagree with is Spottefleaf because although she was probably a great medicine cat, we didn’t see her that much in the first book and then she died. If she was there longer and we learned her personality more I might like her more

  • I pretty much agree with everything except for Spottedleaf. We really didn’t get to see her as a medicine cat as she died so early. We saw that she had a love for herbs as a kit in Bluestar’s Prophecy, but her actual talent was never shown. And the reason she received the Fire Alone Can Save Our Clan omen was because she was the sole ThunderClan medicine cat at the time. Any other medicine cat could have received the same omen.

      • Yeah, Goose feather is just misunderstood! He has to deal with a horrible gift. Would you like to know exactly when and how you would die? I didn’t think so.

        • And yet he either forces other cats to deal with fulfilling visions by making great sacrifices when he could just use his authority as medicine cat to fix the situation himself (telling Bluefur to give up her kits rather than just telling Sunstar himself not to make Thistleclaw deputy), refuses to take responsibility for his mistakes (never acknowledges that it was his mistake that led to Moonflower’s death), or straight-up hurts cats himself (attackign two innocent kits, Stormkit and Oakkit, for literally no reason whatsoever which results in Stormkit breaking his jaw).
