Molly glanced at Nyx. “Nyx might be blind now, but she could still be dangerous. We should still probably lock her up.” she said. “Or at least not let her out of our sight.”

“Sounds like a good idea,” replied Cody.

“Sounds like a bad one to me…” Nyx spoke smoothly and softly, despite her pain.
Lucy –
“Nyx, you don’t really get a say in this, so just stop talking, will ya?” Lucy said.

Tracey nodded rapidly. “Yes. Yes, that’s what I was thinking.”
~Pip~
The tiny hen rushed over to the crowd, clutching her teddy bear in one wing. “What’s happening?” she inquired, her eyes wide, “Why is everybody fighting?”
Honeywing-
“It’s alright, little one. It’s ok.” Honeywing mewed.
Xe was actually quite scared xemself, but was trying to act calm as to not scare Pip.

“Everything’s alright,” Pip addressed the other animals, echoing Honeywing, but she stayed close to the yellow-and-white cat, just in case.
~Heather~
“She’s… she’s so dangerous!” Heather stared at Nyx. “Please,” she begged, turning to her friends, “Get away from her! She might still hurt you!”
~Sheila~
“We are currently attempting to figure out what to do to keep this whole town secure,” Sheila told her, “Trust me- this is for safety.”
~Cody~
“N-no, no, stop talking, don’t compliment her further,” stated Cody to Heather.
~Heather~
“That’s hardly a compliment!” Heather murmured, but, not wanting to get her friends into more danger than they were, she took Cody’s advice and remained silent after that.
Ash-
“Heather, it’s ok. We’re going to be fine. This town has gotten through hard times before, and it’s turned out fine.” meowed Ash.
Athena-
“Don’t be afraid, Heather! I’ll protect you, and all my friends!” Athena mewed.
Shade-
“Yeah!” Shade said, nodding in agreement.
Stormy-
“We’re only kittens, though! And so small. Can we really do much?” Stormy asked.
Carlotta-
“I’m small too, and I can do a lot,” Carlotta told Stormy. “Never underestimate yourself because of your size! If I’d done that, I’d never make through living in Koshiro’s mansion.”

“Please can we just take her away already?” murmured Raven.
Shadowheart-
Shadowheart sat next to Cloudy and Ghost. She glared at Nyx, hissing. “Maybe we should just kill her. It might be easier!”
Cloudy –
Cloudy’s eyes widened. “No!” they gasped. “Shadowheart, we cannot just kill!”
Ghost-
“But if we kill Nyx,” Ghost calmly mewed, “then won’t we be preventing future deaths?” He titled his head, thinking.
(BTW, Shadowheart is a black leopard, Cloudy is a clouded leopard, and Ghost is a snow leopard.)

“Quick check-in, she will come back as another animal if we kill her,” Cody informed them.
Ghost –
“Dang it. I forgot,” Ghost hissed.
Just One Heartbeat~Tempest~
“I’ll take it from here.” Tempest lifted the owl up in her teeth and carried her. She walked through some blocks, eventually coming to a house. She pushed the door open, dropping the owl in a small cage. “Enjoy your stay,” she added before going back to the crowd of animals.
~Fireblaze~
“Well, that got rid of her,” Fire muttered.
Cinnamon-
“We don’t need to worry anymore,” Cinnamon mewed brightly.
White Paws-
“Yeah, but Nyx will always be a danger as long as she is in this town. At least we can make it harder for her to hurt us, but have we truly defeated her?” White Paws said.
Oscar –
“Don’t worry, chap! It’ll be ok.” Oscar said.
Baby Pluto-
“And even if Nyx hurts us again, we can beat her!” Baby Pluto woofed.

“I’ll help you!” Pip squeaked, although she had no idea what was going on.
~Fireblaze~
“No- you’re too little!” Fire snapped, concerned for the younger hen’s safety, even though Nyx was now being carried by Tempest and it was unlikely that there would be more fighting. It was best to stay safe and not let immature four-year-olds to interfere.
~Jenny~
Jenny agreed with Fireblaze that it would be safer if Pip didn’t interfere. But the little hen was only trying to help- they couldn’t blame her for that! “Pip,” Jenny clucked cheerfully, thinking of a way to get the hen’s attention, “Could you go over to the nearby park and get me a blue flower? I saw one by the river this morning.”
~Pip~
Pip nodded eagerly, then marched quickly away, determined to help Jenny find a flower.
~Cody~
Cody looked at the ground. Her mew was raspy and quiet. “So, what do we do now?”
~Fireblaze~
Fireblaze shuffled her feet nervously. “I… I don’t know,” she admitted.
Fuzzystar-
“Maybe we should go out for lunch or something. Worrying really isn’t going to do us any good.” Fuzzystar meowed.

Tempest glanced over at Foliis. The little owl looked completely broken.
Tempest spoke. “We need to help Tamar and Hurricane before we do anything else.”
Kordi-
“But what can we do?” Kordi asked.
Jazzy-
“We can support them.” Jazzy whispered.
Kordi-
“Is that enough?” Kordi questioned.

Tempest hauled Hurricane into the ambulance. “Elderberry?”
“Are they both in?” Elderberry asked, ready to drive to the hospital.
~Tempest~
Tempest nodded.
(Could someone fill me in on whats going on? i’ve been gone longer than I thought, clearly 😛 )

Stormy-
“I don’t like the ambulance. It’s loud.” mewed Stormy.
Ash-
“It’s ok, dear.” Ash meowed, licking Stormy’s head.
Athena-
“Will Hurricane and Tamar be ok?” Athena asked.
Shade-
“Of course! Elderberry is a good doctor.” Shade mewed.
Oscar-
“She is, chap! Tamar and Hurricane will be back to normal soon.” Oscar said.

Tempest glanced at Tamar and Hurricane. Tamar was breathing, but Hurricane seemed… still. Tempest didn’t understand. He was alive, probably, but not himself. It made no sense.
~Tuft~
Tuft began padding away, tears forming in his eyes. He missed his mother so much. It was unbearable.
He walked through several streets, and then suddenly heard his name. “Tuft!” It was a familiar whispering voice.
He fought the urge to howl. Turning around, he looked through a window and spotted a white owl. He curled his lip. Nyx.
~Nyx~
Nyx hissed at him. “Tuft, listen to me. This is important.”
~Tuft~
Tuft kept walking.
~Nyx and Tuft~
Nyx rolled her eyes. “I’m serious. I need to tell you something.”
Tuft growled at her. “Shut up.”
“It’s about Hurricane.” Tuft flinched at the sound of his uncle’s name.
Nyx continued. “He’s not going to get better.”
The cougar’s claws unsheathed, and he sprang at the barred window blocking him from Nyx. “You don’t get to talk about Hurricane like that!” Nyx didn’t even blink as he crashed into the bars.
Nyx narrowed her eyes. “I’m the only one that can save him.”
*Suddenly, Feather appeared from around the corner 😛 *
~Feather~
After having a look at Hurricane, Feather came across Tuft and Nyx, right in time to hear their conversation. “You know Tuft… Nyx could be right. I’ve had a look at Hurricane and his state is like nothing I’ve ever seen before.” She said just loud enough that Tuft could hear her.
~Tuft~
Tuft curled his lip. “I will not let this-this murderer anywhere near my last family member!”
~Feather~
“I won’t either. Maybe she could tell us what to do.” She turned to the owl, “Could you, Nyx?”
Carlotta-
“Don’t trust Nyx with anything.” Carlotta said, randomly appearing.
RIP Alex Trebek~Feather~
“I know, but Hurricane’s conditions are… very different.” Feather sighed.
~Nyx~
Nyx put on an innocent face, and spoke deliberately and slowly. “Oh, I would, but I don’t think you’d be able to do it.”
~Fireblaze~
“Tell us,” Fireblaze said, a trace of frustration in her cluck, “And then we’ll decide if we’ll be able to do it.”

“I’m not afraid of you, Nyx.” Baby Pluto said, growling. If he’d been a full grown dog, maybe it would have been scary, but since he was a puppy, it sounded adorable and not scary.

“At least we’ll all die together?” Fuzzystar mewed.

“It most likely means Hurricane’s heartbeat…” Fireblaze clucked after thinking for a minute, “because Hurricane is the one we’re trying to cure.”

“If you say so,” whispered Nyx tauntingly.

Feather thought for a moment then said, “Maybe it means something about how the stars look or something…”
(Wow I sat thinking about that for like 10 minutes, and this is all I could think of 😛 )

Nyx just stayed silent.
Honeywing-
“Well, you’re no help at all, are you?” Honeywing said to Nyx.
Ash-
“Fireblaze’s guess makes the most sense. But is it the right one?” mewed Ash.

Nyx blinked at Honeywing, surprised, then smiled.
“If you really want me to help,” replied Nyx slowly and deliberately, “then I suppose it wouldn’t kill me to give you a few pointers.”
~Cody~
Cody growled. “Well, hurry up then.”
~Nyx~
Nyx rolled her eyes. “You’re no fun.” She stood up straight. “Fine. Let’s play a game. I give you till… sundown, to figure out what it means. If you don’t understand it by sunset, then Hurricane here will no longer breathe.”
Cloudy-
Cloudy’s eyes widened. “You can’t just do that!” they gasped.
Ghost-
“She will. Or at least she will try.” Ghost said.
Wishspring-
“Not if we can stop her!” Wishspring hissed.

Nyx sighed. “It’s pathetic you think you can stop me. You can’t. Think Hurricane was my only servant?” Her blind ice gaze burned into them. “Think again.”
~Fireblaze~
Fireblaze’s eyes widened. “I think she means there are other animals who she hypnotized!” she gasped, icy fear spreading through her. And they could be any of us us…
The young hen glanced nervously around the crowd.
~Nyx~
Nyx smirked. “Your time starts now.” She looked at the sunrise. “So you’d better get going.”
Carlotta-
“I am really starting to despise your guts.” Carlotta said to Nyx.

“The feeling is mutual,” Nyx shot back sweetly.
Carlotta-
“Well you’re a bundle of sunshine, aren’t you?” Carlotta snapped back sarcastically.
Blossomfall defender~Nyx~
“I feel like you’ve already learnt I’m completely the opposite.” Nyx blinked innocently.
Carlotta-
Carlotta did not reply. Ash’s kittens were present, and she worried that she wouldn’t be able to reply to Nyx without saying something she shouldn’t say in front of young animals.
She settled for giving Nyx another glare.

She licked Athena’s head, and then whispered into Ash’s ear, “what happened?”
Ash-
“Basically, that owl is named Nyx, and she’s super evil.” Ash explained.

“Oh, okay.”
Athena-
Athena giggled as Mei Ling licked her head. “That tickles!” she purred.

She chuckled, as the blinding lights of the ambulance took off.

A small red panda walks in. “H-hi.” She says shyly. “Is anyone nice here? My name is MeiLing but most people call me Mei.” “It’s nice to meet you.”

“Hi, Mei!” a brown chicken walks up to the red panda, smiling, “I’m Bree. It’s very nice to meet you, too. Want to be friends?”

“I’d love to!” She says. “Also, do you know a good place to get some bamboo? I seem to be low.”
~Bree~
“Yes!” Bree replied cheerfully, “There’s a place where a bunch of it grows! I’ll show you where it is!”

“Hi! I’m Molly.” said Molly. The cow’s blue eyes sparkled in a friendly manner.

“What the actual heck is going on here?” Apolla had stumbled across the random animals while taking a walk, and now she was very, very, very extremely confused. She twitched her fluffy tail, her brown eyes wide.
Ash-
“This is our town. My name is Ash. These are my kittens: Stormy, Shade, and Athena.” Ash mewed.
Stormy-
Stormy cocked his head at the newcomer.
He shyly ducked his head.
Athena-
“Hi!” meowed Athena.
Shade-
“I’m a cat.” Shade cheerfully said.

Apolla cocked her head. “I’m a dog.” She replied to Shade before looking over at Ash for advice.
“I don’t have much experience with kids.” Apolla mutters to Ash.
Ash-
Ash swallowed back the urge to say, Yeah, I can tell.
Her eyes narrowed, however.

Apolla gave Ash a quick nod before moving away politely. “Imma just……”
Ash-
Ash nodded back, but she never once took her eyes off her kits.

A small kitten ran over to Ash, and said, “hi! My name’s Dolly! I live with Upwalkers! Does anyone know a cat named Purdy? He was my grandfather!! Anyway, my Upwalkers named me after someone named Dolly Barton, I think…” She drifted off. “Well, can I live with anyone? I don’t really have a home.” She said quietly. She ran off, and then came back with a mole. “Plump and fresh! Who wants to share?” She meowed kindly.
Ash-
“Hello!” Ash purred.
Shade-
Shade ran right over to Dolly. “We’re both kittens!” she purred.
Stormy-
“Yeah!” Stormy said.
Athena-
“Want to be best friends? Please? I’ve never had a best friend before!” Athena said, bouncing a little.
Blossomfall defenderDolly~ “Hi Shade! Hi Athena! I’m super excited to be friends!”
Stormy-
“Hi, I’m Stormy.” mewed Stormy. He didn’t feel the urge to bounce as his sisters had, but still, a friend might be nice.
Blossomfall defenderDolly~ “Wow! So many friends! I’ll never get tired!” She said.
Baby Pluto-
Baby Pluto ran over to Dolly.
“I’m Baby Pluto!” he said. “I’m a puppy, not a kitten, but we can still be friends!”

“So… I guess we better figure it out.” She glanced around. “Heartbeat matching the stars…”
Shadowheart-
“Maybe it’s not a real heartbeat?” Shadowheart suggested.
Kordi-
“What do you mean?” Kordi asked, tilting her head.
Shadowheart-
“I mean, what if it’s a metaphorical heartbeat.” Shadowheart explained.
Jazzy-
“Heartbeat… Heartbeat… heart…” Jazzy murmured.
Cloudy-
“What’s Jazzy doing?” Cloudy whispered to Kordi.
Kordi-
“She’s working something out. Shut up and let her think.” Kordi hissed.
Jazzy-
Finally, Jazzy spoke. “What if by ‘heartbeat’ Nyx means a heart? Not a real heart, mind you, but more like… the heart of something. The middle! The center. I think for the answer of the riddle, we have to go to the center of town.” Jazzy said.
Shadowheart-
“It’s worth a try.” Shadowheart said, her black tail flicking.
Blossomfall defender~Raven~
“It’s the best we’ve got,” mewed Raven. “Let’s go!” She ran in the direction of the town square, the centre of the town. Several animals followed her.
~Foliis~
Foliis hung back, staring at Nyx who was leaning against a wall. She whispered to herself. “Why, Nyx?”
Willowbranch-
Willowbranch followed Raven, her eyes shining with determination.

Raven came to the square, and Cody started tapping the ground with her foot, attempting to find some kind of hidden passageway, or something.
~Fireblaze~
“Nyx said something about the stars…” Fireblaze murmured, an idea forming in her mind, “So maybe we need to look at the stars from here- the town square!”
~Tempest~
Tempest shook her head thoughtfully. “We’d have to wait till nightfall to do that, and we don’t have that kind of time.”
~Fireblaze~
Only now remembering that they only had until sunset, Fireblaze sighed and her tail drooped, although for once she was too worried to feel embarrassed.
Oscar-
“It was a good idea, though,” Oscar meowed, trying to cheer up Fireblaze.

Making a grand entry, the muscular cream-colored rooster leaped over a row of bushes then stood, facing the animals. “I know how to cure Hurricane!” he announced loudly.
~Raven~
“How do we know you’re not hypnotised by Nyx?” pointed out Raven straight away.
White Paws-
“Let’s at least hear him out.” White Paws mewed.
Cinnamon-
Cinnamon nodded. “Yes, I want to hear this.” she said.

“Yeah!” Fireblaze narrowed her eyes, agreeing with Raven.
~Buck~
“I’m not!” Buck defended himself quickly, but he suddenly hoped the animals wouldn’t ask him what the cure was.
~Cody~
“Then, go on.”
~Buck~
“I…um, I don’t know how to cure him,” Buck admitted, shuffling his feet in embarrassment as he thought about how he shouldn’t have pretended he did know.
Molly-
Anger blazed in Molly’s usually kind blue eyes.
“I can’t believe you, Buck. We have a serious problem here! There’s no time for joking around.”
Carlotta-
“Then why did you say you knew the cure if you don’t?” Carlotta demanded.

“You’ve wasted our valuable time!” Fire said scornfully, her amber eyes blazing as she glared at Buck.
She turned to her friends, “Come on- we’re going!”
~Buck~
“I’ll come with you,” Buck said, the trace of shame no longer in his voice, “I may not know the cure, but I can still help just as you guys can.” He grinned at the other animals.
~Fireblaze~
An angry grumbling sound came from Fire’s throat. She noticed that the rooster had taken no notice of the animals’ accusing remarks and that frustrated her.
~Cody~
“Ugh,” groaned Cody. “Let’s go.”
~Fire~
“Yes,” Fire clucked dryly, giving Buck a final glare, “Let’s.”
Fuzzystar-
Their gray fur bristling, Fuzzystar started walking away.

“I want nothing to do with you.” Willowbranch hissed at Buck.
