Silver dashed into the area. “What’s going on?” she whispered. She looked around. Who were these animals?
~Rain~
“Hi,” Rain clucked to the newcomer, “I’m Rain! What’s your name?” Her tail twitched with friendliness.
Silver-
“My name is Silver! How are you, and what is going on here?” she asked, still confused.
Cloudy-
“Hi. I’m Cloudy.” whispered Cloudy. The clouded leopard stared at their paws. “We have to solve a riddle.” they said.
I wish I wasn’t so shy! they thought, annoyed with themself.

“Okay, here’s the plan,” Buck addressed the other animals, “We must look for clues all around the town square.”
He stuck his head into a bramble, clucking indignantly as the branches scraped his comb.
~Cody~
Cody stifled a laugh. “If you say so, Bramblebrain.”
~Raven~
“Cody!” growled Raven sternly, trying not to purr. “Let’s go.” She turned to address the other animals. “Cody and I will try and get some more clues from Nyx.”
Honeywing-
Xyr blue eyes shining, Honeywing mewed, “Ok!”
Xe started to look for clues. Xe paused to look at a puddle, but there wasn’t any clues there.

First he wasted our time, and now he thinks he gets to tell us what to do? Fireblaze thought with frustration, but since they were on an important mission she started looking around for clues anyways, occasionaly grinding her beak.
~Jilly~
Opening her eyes, Jilly jumped out of bed excitedly.
She hopped out the window and rushed to meet the animals who had gathered at the town square.
Reaching the square, she bounced up and down, the white tassel of feathers on her head blowing in the breeze.
“What are we doing? What are we playing?” she demanded cheerfully, her olive eyes shining with friendly curiosity as she looked from one friend to the other.
Ghost-
“Well, the thing is, we aren’t playing a game. We’re looking for clues to solve a riddle.” Ghost explained. He wrapped his tail around his paws.

“A riddle!” Jilly exclaimed excitedly, then tipped her head to one side, confused. “Does a riddle mean we have to get rid of something?” she asked.
Ghost-
“No. It’s more like a… puzzle. But with words.” Ghost explained.
Carlotta-
Watching Ghost patiently explain the meaning of a riddle to Jilly, Carlotta thought, Gosh, he’s patient. I would have lost my temper the moment that chicken asked what a riddle was!

“Maybe Jilly has an idea about what the riddle could mean!” Stormy mewed, excitedly turning towards the chicken.

“Jilly? Has an idea?” Fireblaze scoffed, “Well, that would be a first!”
She turned to Stormy, her gaze more serious, “What’s the idea?”
Stormy-
Stormy thought, Does Fireblaze really think Jilly would never be able to have an idea?
His blue eyes widening, he stared stepping away from the chicken.

Raven and Cody walked down the street together. Cody turned to her. “Whatever happens, I just want you to know that…” She grumbled under her breath slightly, obviously embarrassed. “That I’m here for you, and I’ll always be here.”
Raven smiled at her. “Thanks. I mean it.” They came to Nyx’s place.
Cody started growling at her. “Tell us more, Nyx.”
Nyx shook her head. “Why?”
“Because if you don’t, I’ll kill you,” she snarled.
Nyx smirked. “And then I’ll die with the cure.”
~Sophia~
“Give us the cure, Nyx.” Sophia’s desperate cluck was scarcely over a whisper, and yet her brown eyes still glowed with intense determination, “What harm would it do you- you’ll get bored of watching us search eventually.”
“Please… Give us the cure.” The usually confident and spirited young hen was now begging. She seldom did that, and yet she knew that maintaining her dignity was never nearly as important to her as her friends.
~Nyx~
“You do realise I can’t see,” Nyx replied flatly. “Cody blinded me. Anyway, I did try to help you but the annoying cub said no. So, your chance was lost and now Hurricane’s gonna die. Tough.”
~Cody~
“You’re extremely insensitive,” Cody said to her.
~Nyx~
“That’s coming from you, former gang leader,” Nyx shot back. Raven winced.
Nyx turned to the rest of them. “Okay, if another clue is what you truly desire then I shall give you one. I see the stars differently to all of you. To you, they’re bright shiny things in the sky. To me, they’re lost spirits gliding up above. You had someone leave you recently, no?”
~Fireblaze~
“Athena!” Fireblaze gasped, “The clue must mean Athena!”
~Cody~
Cody grinned. “But, what do we do now?”
~Fireblaze~
“I don’t know…” Fireblaze’s cluck trailed away. She hadn’t thought that far in the midst of her excitement at finding a possible answer.
Athena-
“My namesake.” Athena gasped. She’d never met the brave cougar she was named after, but she knew that her namesake had been courageous.
Molly-
“So… is Athena the answer, or just part of the answer? I’m a little confused.” said Molly.
Willowbranch-
“I don’t think it’s the answer, Molly. Remember, Nyx said she’d only give us a clue, not the answer. So I think we have more to work out.”
Lucy-
“We can do this!” encouraged Lucy.

“Well, Athena was Hurricane’s sister,” Fireblaze pointed out, “Maybe that has something to do with it.”
(Suddenly Nightpaw popped into existence AGAIN-
dang I looked at how many comments there are and practically jumped outa my seatAnnnyyyywho… I might as well write a comment or two whilst im here so here goes)Shadow-
Shadow thought about Nyx’s words. Everything pointed to Athena, but she couldn’t get farther then that. The a thought struck her. One Athena was dead, but the OTHER was still here. She turned to Ice, “Do you think she might mean that (the kit) Athena could have some connection with (the cougar) Athena?”
Ice-
Ice nodded slowly, “It does seem reasonable…” He looked to Feather, “What do you think, Feather?
Feather- “Well it’s hard to be sure, but its an idea.” She looked around. “Fireblaze! Shadow has and idea on what Nyx could mean.”
~Fireblaze~
“Really?” Fireblaze trotted up, a flicker of hope in her amber eyes.
~Raven~
Raven blinked when she heard Shadow’s words. She felt faint, her vision blurred. She heard distorted voice in her head.
Raven… Raven…
Her eyes closed.
~Cody~
Cody noticed Raven was lying on the floor. “Raven!” she screeched.
~Rain~
“Oh, no! Raven!” Rain’s blue eyes showed panic as the young hen dashed up to Raven, gently putting a wing on her flank. Is she okay?
~Tempest~
Tempest put an ear to her chest. “She’s breathing,” she announced. “She’s alive.”
~Cody~
Cody let out a sigh of relief, but still stared at her anxiously.
Molly-
“Oh my gosh! Raven? Where’s Elderberry? Does Raven need a doctor?” Molly was freaking out.
Carlotta-
“Pull yourself together! Panicking is not going to help!” Carlotta told Molly.
Swallowing Shadows~Raven~
Raven drowsily blinked, and noticed that there were several animals standing over her.
~Rain~
“R-raven?” Rain’s voice shook, but she kept it gentle and steady, “Are you okay?”
~Raven~
“Yeah, I’m fine.” Raven sounded puzzled. “Are you?”
Athena-
“I guess it’s possible. How could we be connected, though? We’re two entirely different species!” mewed Athena.
Swallowing Shadows~Heather~
“I’m sure that’s not the case,” Heather murmured gently, then turned away, a dark look in her eyes.
We can’t drag Athena into this! She’s still little- surely we should keep the scariness of this mystery from her.
~Heather~
Heather walked up to Ash, knowing what she had to do.
“Ash,” she said, trying to keep her voice casual, “We’re all very busy with the mystery. Would you like me to watch your kits? I could take them someplace where they could spend some quality time, and stretch their legs.”
She was determined to get Athena away from the others before they involved her in the mystery.
~Raven~
Raven glanced around. She noticed Athena.
Athena… A voice whispered. The kit… get the kit…
Raven pounced on Athena.
~Heather~
Heather stared in shock, her violet eyes stretched wide. “Raven, What are you doing?” her cluck shuddered with distress, “Stop!”
Ash-
“STAY AWAY FROM MY DAUGHTER, YOU FLIPPING DUNGHEART!” Ash screamed, leaping onto Raven and slamming her into the ground.
Athena-
Athena trembled. What had Raven done that for?
Stormy-
“Athena! Are you ok?” Stormy gasped.
Shade-
“Why did Raven attack you?” Shade wanted to know.
Athena-
“First of all, I’m fine. Just shaken. Second of all, I don’t know why she attacked me. But I have never seen Mama this mad.” mewed Athena.
And He Runs~Raven~
Raven hissed and threw Ash off of her, snarling.
~Jenny~
“Raven, what were you trying to do?” Jenny asked, trying to stay calm although she was confused.
Behind her, Heather glared at Raven.
~Raven~
Raven snarled.
Ash-
Ash growled, wincing in pain. She circled Raven, and pounced.

Raven growled, and raked her claws down Ash’s back.
Honeywing-
Wanting to help xyr friend, Honeywing ran up to Raven.
“You want to hurt Ash’s kits, you’ll have to go through me!” xe yowled.
Fuzzystar-
Joining their mate, Fuzzystar gave Raven a death glare.

Raven’s eyes flashed. “If that’s the way you want to play it.” She leapt at Honeywing and Fuzzystar, claws unsheathed.
~Cody~
“Play it,” Cody murmured under her breath. Her head snapped up and she skidded in front of Raven. “Stop! This isn’t you, Raven!”
~Heather~
Heather rushed up to the kits. “It’s okay,” she panted, panic still showing in her cluck, “We won’t let anyone hurt you.”
Stormy-
“Heather, I’m scared.” mewed Stormy. “Athena almost died. My sister almost died. And at the claws of somebody we trusted. Is this town even safe anymore?”

Her heart tight with anger and pity, Heather scooped Stormy under her wing.
“Don’t be scared,” she clucked hoarsely, “Don’t be scared, I won’t let anyone touch you.”
She looked around at the crowd, then murmured gently, “We won’t trust them anymore.”
Oscar-
“I agree with Stormy. At one point, this town was safe. But not anymore. And it’s definitely not safe for kittens.” meowed Oscar.
Baby Pluto-
“But this is our home!” Baby Pluto protested.
WolfStar 4 LifeIvy-
“Baby Pluto is right.” Ivy squeaked, “I’m a kit, but I’ll fight as hard as any warrior for this town.”
Grass-
“Me too!” Grass lifted her chin high.
Frost-
Frost looked a bit uneasy at the thought of fighting, “I… er… I could help Feather…” He said looking a bit embarrassed.
Faith-
“That is a wonderful idea Frost. We could sure use the help.” She said, looking at her old mentor.
Feather-
Feather tried to speak with the gentle voice she had when she was younger, but it turned out to be more of a croak than anything else, so she just nodded and sat down next to Shadow with a sigh.
Baby Pluto-
Baby Pluto smiled, happy that some animals agreed with him.

Heather looked up at Oscar, her purple eyes thoughtful.
“We have to leave,” she clucked determinedly.
~Foliis~
“No!” Foliis walked over. “We can’t!”
Carlotta-
“Yes!” said Carlotta, agreeing. “We must fight to save our home! Are we really going to let Raven or Nyx or this dumb riddle stop us?”

“What do you think, Kordi?” Jazzy quietly asked the blue lion.
Kordi-
“I’ll fight to the death to protect this town. But if you wanted to leave, I would leave.” replied Kordi.
Jazzy-
“I’m staying with you. I will fight.” Jazzy promised.

Kordi nodded.

“But where will we go?” asked Cinnamon.

“Somewhere faraway. Somewhere safe.” meowed Wishspring.

“But what if Raven finds us? We’d be goners.” Willowbranch pointed out.

“But we’ve lived here for so long,” Fionita murmured, looking around at the familiar town that she’d called home for many good years, “I don’t think I could bare to leave.”
White Paws-
“We could always come back once it’s safe enough.” mewed White Paws.

“I guess you’re right,” Fionita nodded, feeling slightly relieved although the fear of leaving her home still lingered.
Molly-
“It’s alright, Fionita. We’re all in this together,” Molly said encouragingly.

“Thanks,” Fionita blinked gratefully at her friend, “You’re right, Molly- Any place will feel like home if we’re all together.”
She thought for a minute. “Our friendship is home,” she murmured finally.
Carlotta-
“Perhaps we should vote. If more animals vote that we should go, we will leave, but if more animals vote that we should stay, we will stay.” suggested Carlotta.
Ash-
“No,” argued Ash, “whoever wants to leave should be able to leave without a vote.”
Squirrelflight lover~Sandy~
“Whether we stay or leave we’ll always stay together,” Sandy clucked into Dusty’s ear, her voice strong and determined, “Nothing could separate us.”
~Dusty~
Dusty nodded, comforted as she snuggled into her sister’s warm feathers.
As long as she always had Sandy by her side everything would be okay.
~Rainswept Bush~
Rainswept Bush stood in silence, her green-and-blue eyes shining as she tried to come up with an idea.
“Perhaps we should go check on Hurricane,” she suggested at last, adding, “Nyx said something about checking his heartbeat, and we haven’t tried that yet.”
~Fireblaze~
“That’s a good idea, but Nyx said to see if it matches the stars. How would we know that?”
~Stacie~
“I know some astronomy so maybe I’d be able to tell,” Stacie suggested hopefully, then frowned. “Although, this is very important, so maybe I should study more on the way.”
She took out an encyclopedia.
~Pip~
I completely forgot about writing the cute bean’s return after Jenny sent her away 😛Finally founding her way back to the animals, Pip skipped up to them.
“Here’s your flower,” she said to Jenny, handing the blue flower to the older hen. “And I got one for Honey, too,” she added, giving Honeywing a red one.
Honeywing-
Honeywing purred, “Thanks, Pip.” xe mewed. “It smells lovely,” xe added.

Pip suddenly looked up. “Maybe Cuddles will have an idea of where to look for clues!” she suggested.
~Fireblaze~
Fireblaze narrowed her eyes, baffled. “Who’s… Cuddles?”
~Pip~
Pip held out a worn purple blanket. “This is Cuddles- my blankie,” she said.
~Fireblaze~
Fireblaze sighed and looked at the sun’s position again.
Shadowheart-
Shadowheart softly chuckled to herself. “What ideas does Cuddles have?” she asked Pip kindly.

“Pip, it’s a blanket. It can’t have ide-“ Kordi was cut off by Jazzy. “Let her think what she wants to! She’s literally still a kid.”
Kordi nodded, a little embarrassed.

Then her face grew serious. “We’re trying to solve a riddle,” she explained, “An owl named Nyx did something to our friend Hurricane, and we need to figure out how to help him.”
~Dolly~ “Oh that sounds reaaaaally hard!! What can I do to help?” she asked lovingly.
