  • Wrenfeather led her brother and apprentice to a stream. There was a few sprouts of goldenrod. They carefully bit it off. They searched some more for a long time, but there was not much to be found anywhere. The cats walked back to camp.

“Cheetahstar!” Shadowhawk called as they approached the leaders den. Cheetahstar came out. “Yes?” Ebonyrain dropped the few herbs that she was carrying. “This is all that we could find,” Wrenfeather began. “So maybe,we were thinking, that we could go to the forest to look. So,what do you say?”

    • Cheetahstar grimaced, her eyes narrowing. “No cat in HeatherClan has been to the forest in a long time… We don’t know what kind of dangers lie there.” Cheetahstar lifted her chin up, seeming to come to a decision. “But it’s almost leaf-bare, and that’s when we need herbs the most. Take about three more warriors with you, and be careful .”

    • Twilightwhisper paused from cleaning himself near the Leader Rock, overhearing. He padded over to Wrenfeather, his ears pricked in interest. “Can I come?” He asked. “I’ve always wanted to see the forest.”

  • Bluefire and Lightningshard watch from the shadows of a patch of rocks as Darkpaw stalks through the forest. The apprentice’s warrior assessment had been put off once, when Darkpaw caught whitecough, and she’s determined to become a warrior. She’s extra careful with her hunting, knowing that both her mentor and Lightningshard are watching. Lightningshard… Darkpaw shakes her head, shoving all thoughts of the handsome tom to the back of her mind. Focus, she tells herself. Assessment first.
The scent of a mouse wafts through the air. Dropping into a crouch, Darkpaw stares forwards. The tiny brown mouse sits on the roots of a tall maple at the edge of the forest. Darkpaw places one paw carefully in front of the other until she’s two tail-lengths from the mouse. It hasn’t seen her. Bunching her hind legs under her, she pounces, landing square on the mouse. Darkpaw bites down on it’s neck, killing it. Then she buries it in the dirt to collect after her assessment.
Sunmarks later, Darkpaw walks back into camp with her tail high, holding a squirrel in her jaws. Bluefire carries the mouse and a crow, while Lightningshard carries a large rabbit. All prey that Darkpaw caught during the assessment. They leave the prey in the fresh-kill pile.
“Darkpaw, take the rabbit to the elders,” Bluefire instructs. “I’m going to talk to Cheetahstar.” Darkpaw nods, picking up the rabbit and carrying it into the elders’ den. Bluefire heads over to Cheetahstar’s den, Lightningshard following closely.
“She did very well,” the warrior tom observes.
“I think she was mostly trying to impress you,” Bluefire answers. “Well, I’m going to ask Cheetahstar to make her a warrior tomorrow. I’m sure you have better things to do than follow me around all day.”
“I know a dismissal when I hear one,” Lightningshard says jokingly. “See you around.”
“Yeah,” Bluefire replies, already almost to the leader’s den. Lightningshard heads back out of the camp to hunt on the moor. Bluefire pads up to the leader’s den and stands in the entrance. “Cheetahstar, can I talk to you?”

    • Cheetahstar raised up her head from her paws, shuffling into a sitting position. “Of course.” she meowed to Bluefire.

      • “Darkpaw has completed her warrior assessment,” Bluefire explains. “Do you think you can make her an apprentice tomorrow?” She waits patiently for Cheetahstar’s reply.

  • Snowypaw darted outside careful not to be spotted by the guard at the front, if she wanted to get ahead with training she knew she had to secretly practice or else others would join in. Sniffing the air she made her way to an unknown clearing, dodging all passing patrols.

    • Bluefire nodded. “Thank you, Cheetahstar. I’m sure Darkpaw will be very excited to become a warrior.” She quickly padded of to tell her apprentice. “Darkpaw! There you are.”
“Yes, Bluefire?” Darkpaw looked up from the squirrel she was sharing with Lightningshard.
“You’re going to become a warrior tomorrow,” Bluefire announced.
“Wow, really?” Darkpaw squealed. “Awesome! I hope I get a really cool name, like Darkjump, or Darkblaze, or Darkshadow, or–”
“I’m sure Cheetahstar will give you the perfect name for you,” Bluefire assured her.
“Calm down, Darkpaw,” Lightningshard agreed. “The rest of us are just as excited, but warriors don’t go prancing around like kits.”
“S-sorry, Lightningshard,” Darkpaw balked. “I’ll try to remember.” Lightningshard laughed, butting his head into her shoulder.
“You’ll do great,” he said assuredly. Only Bluefire noticed that Darkpaw was blushing.

PS Cheetahstar, make her warrior name Darkjay if I haven’t told you that yet.

  • TIMESKIP TO DAWN

Cheetahstar leapt onto the Leader’s Rock, her paws prickling with excitement. “Let all cats old enough to catch a hare please join beneath the Leader’s Rock for a Clan meeting!”

    • Oh, well i guess i should watch this…. gosh darn the puddles, i wanted to talk to Cheetah star in private… but this will have to do… he thought as he padded up to the rock. he sat down with a humph, and looked at his paws, waiting for the meeting to start.

      • Flicks tail expectantly. He wondered why the leader was calling a meeting. Maybe an apprentice was getting a ceremony, or maybe a warrior was retiring. That would be nice, to be able to share is den for once. He had been lonely there for to many moons. ‘don’t those warriors ever get tired? It been moons! Ah well. It would be neat to see a new apprentice or warrior anywho. I just hope I get a denmate before I pass.’ he shuddered. ‘how dare I think this? I abandons my clan, and was alone in the ally’s for moons! How selfish of me…’ he looks up quickly, blinking around at the gathering crowd. His green eyes scanning the hollow. It was nice to be back around so many cats…. why be ashamed? Not much he can do about it now. What is done is done, why make his first moments miserable? He looked up, and straitened. His gaze sparked with determination and confidence. It felt good. He hid his shame. It was only a mistake. His clanmates would forgive him… surely.

    • “It is time for Darkpaw to become a warrior!” Cheetahstar announced, her eyes glittering with excitement.
“I, Cheetahstar, leader of HeatherClan, call upon my warrior ancestors to look down on this apprentice. She has trained hard to understand the ways of your noble code, and I commend her to you as a warrior in her turn. Darkpaw, do you promise to uphold the warrior code and to protect and defend your Clan, even at the cost of your life?”

      • S’more gasped, in shock, surprise, and happiness. Had he really been away for that long? He missed his clan mates kithood! He straightened up, and reminded himself that his disloyalty was behind him. The only way now would be to go forward, into the future, and make sure that he takes good care of his clan, helping kits and maybe gathering and changing his own bedding. He shuddered. Maybe that would be overkill, besides, what kind of elder cleans his own nest? He will leave it to the apprentices.

      • “I do!” Darkpaw said, excitement gleaming in her eyes. She peeked back at Bluefire and Lightningshard. The tom flashed a grin.

        • “Then by the powers of StarClan, I give you your warrior name. Darkpaw, from this moment on you will be known as Darkjay. StarClan honors your enthusiasm and dedication, and we welcome you as a full warrior of HeatherClan.” Cheetahstar announced.

          • “Darkjay! Darkjay, Darkjay, Darkjay!” He yowled, pleased his leader chose such a nice name (yes, i know He is Bluefires OC, just roleplaying here :P) He lowered his voice a little, embarassed. He was drawing to much attention to himself… he shook himself, and contiuned chanting, more quietly. why did he always have to make a big deal of everything? how come he over thought everthing? Would he always feel this way? Scared his clanmates would claw him if he said the wrong thing? he knew they wouldn’t… but still. Who cares what his clanmates think, after HIS adventure? The past was in the past… he cursed silently, scolding himself quietly. He was making a big deal of making a big deal of the loudness of his tone! how rediculous!

  • S’more the elder padded back into the camp entrance. He shook out his fur, and stared at his paws, ashamed of himself for what he did. After his walk, three moons ago, he had seen a huge, orange butterfly. He had got distracted and chased it. The insect led him to twoleg place, where this massive, old, angry twoleg had caught him with this strange net on an ally, and took him to this building and sived him into a cave, surrounded by screeching, trapped felines. It was so scary there. The water was metallic, the food was dry and tasted NOTHING like mouse, and he could hardly move in the squashed space. He stayed there for what felt like seasons, shivering in the dark, until one day, a small twoleg kit came into the building at what must have been moon high. The city was asleep, and silent. The twoleg had a stick that cased a neat beam if light, and these strange claws that she used to open the cages. She freed as many cats as she could, then ran. I took the opportunity and ran with her. Eventually, after wandering the streets, he came back to camp. How was he going to explain himself? His clan mates probably thought he was dead. “maybe Darkpaw is a warrior now… I have been lost for so long. I probably missed her growing up” he thought, frowning. He entered the camp, and he heard a queen gasp from the nursery, and watched her run to cheetastar’s den, eyes bright. S’more stalked off to a corner, and sat there, tail swishing with frustration. Why was he so stupid? Why did he have to act like a kit and chase a butter fly for star clans sake? He shook his head. He didn’t know.

    • “OH MY GOSH IT’S S’MORE GUYS” Bluefire shouted, racing through the camp and tackling the elder. “Where have you been? Everyone’s missed you and your stories.”
“Bluefire, you’re squashing him,” Lightningshard pointed out.
“Oh, sorry,” Bluefire said as she stepped off of the old tom.

      • “Ack! Hi! I missed you guys too! I went on a walk for… a few moons! yeah!” he didn’t say anything about the twoleg place. he wanted cheetahstar to be the first to know. “Its really good to see you, but i think…. i think i should talk to our leader before… i do much else. thank you for your enthuiastic rib crushing kindness!”

        • “Sorry again,” Bluefire said. “Um, Cheetahstar’s in her den, I think.”
“HI S’MORE!!!” Darkpaw, soon to be a warrior, leaped in front of the elder. “My warrior ceremony is today!!!”
Suddenly, they all noticed that Cheetahstar was calling a meeting.
“Better get going,” Lightningshard informed, nudging Darkpaw along with his tail. “Don’t want to be late for your own ceremony.”
