Hey Kate, if you could’ve changed any event that happened in The Place of No Stars, what would it have been.
Personally, I would’ve let Rootspring escape at the last second. It would still be a cliffhanger though, since Bristlefrost and Shadowsight got trapped in the Dark Forest trying to get him out.
We couldn’t resist maxing out the tension though!
So uh Kate, are there any reasons why Ashfur is obsessed with Squirrelflight?
His sense of entitlement is pretty strong, even for a warrior.
Hey kate, what book from the broken code has been your favorite to write?
A Light in the Mist. So challenging and sooooo worth it.
But we can’t read it yet-
AHHHH now I’m waiting out the whole year til it comes out, just to figure out what you mean
😈
Am I the only one who really liked Lionblaze being as much of a jerk as he is in this book?
I mean it’s out of character definitely but I really like the kind of accidental irony, especially with him making all those warnings about how the Dark Forest can make you bad and things only for him to be the awful one instead of the protags who all went down there a lot
plus since when he had his powers he had a bit of an internal struggle about becoming bloodthirsty with them
idk I just like Lionblaze as well as the idea of a hero becoming a villain story
i like the concept of him becoming a villain but i feel like they might not acknowledge that he IS acting villainous and resolve it later instead of letting it slide by
he shouldn’t be deputy with his behaviors
he has killed: Russetfur, Harestar, and ALMOST Bramblestar’s body/Ashfur
he’s just too reckless; im glad the clan called him out for not having some grand claim to the deputyship
Hey Viper, are you a mod?
Yes! Did you have any questions? <3
No, just wondering. I was around 99% sure but didn’t want to assume
ya no worries! ;D good to see ya!
Have you been the speedy mod all along?
no it was u
yeah, it’s probably a change only being made to create drama for the time being
afterwards all the fanfic writer people will step in and smooth things out!
I…really don’t like Lionblaze. He’s too annoying and too arrogant and keeps almost killing cats (Ashfur/Bramblestar, Crowfeather, Heathertail, Tigerstar from AVOS, Mosspelt, unnamed WindClan cat, unnamed rouge) and actually killing cats (Russetfur, Harestar). He lets his temper run away from him and then goes “oh, whoops!”
Also, who does he think he is, accusing Shadowsight of treachery for freeing Ashfur(to save the clans) when HE freed Sol (for his own personal interests)? Come on.
I didn’t like him for a while, but how young and happy he acted in the earlier books of PoT made me fall in love with him pretty quick. He isn’t very well written, I’ll admit, and he should definitely be held accountable for all the things that he’s done, I’m not saying that he shouldn’t. I just like irony and him being a hero only to be a bad person is something I enjoy reading about.
Haha, I didn’t even think of that! What the heck, Lionblaze??
Ok just finished The Place of No Stars and that was an emotional rollercoaster.
yup.
Hi Kate! This is an unrelated question for this book, but I was wondering, have you made any of the characters’ personality’s like yours? Like say you made a warrior cat version of you?
Not Kate but if I were a famous author I would hide lots of Easter eggs in my books and leave them for readers to find
I was wondering- Not many cats have tried to travel to the Dark Forest. Obviously, lots of cats went there in OOTS, but as The Place of No Stars made clear, the rules have changed. It seems a lot more difficult to get there, a lot more dangerous to try, and now conscious, living cats can go there if accompanied by a spirit. In The Place of No Stars, Shadowsight claims he’s the only one who can travel there safely. This claim is strengthened when Willowshine dies trying to get in. However, it seems that Bristlefrost can also go there if she wants, though she’s not fully present unless Shadowsight goes with her. Which raises the question-why is Shadowsight so skilled at moving between worlds, and is he really the only cat who can go there safely? What do you think?
Maybe it’s because of his connections to the spirit world, as he has almost died a bunch, or his strong connection with Starclan that he has had since kithood that is able to somehow protect him. Or maybe Ashfur has some sort of plan that involves Shadowsight being alive and in the Dark Forest. (Maybe he’s hoping he’ll give into the evil that the DF posses?)
ooooOOOOooo!
That would be so creepy and yet so cool, if this was all Ashfur’s evil plan all along!
I think Spotfur will have 3 kits and that she’ll name them Stemkit (after Stemleaf), Flykit and Snapkit (after her littermates)
Oooh good theory! That sounds pretty likely assuming that Spotfur was pretty close to all three 🙂
two things:
A question for Kate:
Any hints about the 8th series? Any name ideas, for the first book or the series as a whole? I CANT WAIT ANY LONGER…
A hope/wish for RiverClan:
For RiverClan to be okay, Mistystar has to die, Reedwhisker can’t become leader, and SOMETHING INTERESTING has to happen. One thing that could (and should) happen soon:
Mistystar and Reedwhisker both die, and then there’s like this “who should be leader” drama that’ll make RiverClan INTERESTING again! I really hope this happens.
No hints yet.
And poor Mistystar!
ok
and sorry
AAAAAH! It was so good! I read it so fast I’m kinda sad I have to wait til November…
Where do I start???
~SPOILERS~
The whole plot of them dreaming themselves into the Dark Forest was very interesting! I’m so excited we now know who Snowtuft is, and I love his character now. The whole creepiness of the Place Of No Stars totally cemented the genre of horror with the strange mist, the trees, and how Ashfur’s controlling the spirits!
I’m so glad Bramblestar is back!!!😭😭😭 But I’m super worried about Rootspring too.
Okay, so Willowshine DIED?! What the heck! I was NOT expecting that. I was super sad ‘cause I liked Willowshine, she was one of my favorite medicine cats…
So how did Ashfur get all this power???
I can’t wait to explore that in the next book.
Awww & I ship Bristleroot so much!!! They love each other so much and like risk anything for each other🥺🥺🥺
I loved the dynamics between Bristlefrost & Tree; I wish Bristleroot could end up together. I also loved the dynamics between Tigerstar & Shadowsight, Bristlefrost & Ivypool, and Shadowsight & Mothwing. I usually don’t care for Mothwing’s character, but I liked her in this.
Anyways, I’m so stoked about the next book!!!
I agree with everything you said! Willowshine’s death was totally unsuspected for me, and Bristleroot is so awesome! I used to hate it, but ever since Darkness Within I have just loved the ship and watching how it’s progressing. I also feel so bad for Spotfur, how her kits will grow up without their father. I loved Stemleaf 😭
I know!!! I almost started crying when Bristlefrost found Stemleaf dead…. ):
Actually, only October, Kate said the box set releases in October
I agree with basically everything here. Mothwing kinda sucked in DW but she got way better in TPONS
Things I LOVE about this book (excuse me if my thoughts aren’t organized the best):
1. Bristlefrost starts expressing her need for Rootspring more.
2. Tree tells Bristlefrost that he approves in their relationship.
3. Ivypool gets a word in about Bristlefrost and Rootspring’s relationship.
4. Bristlefrost and Rootspring make each other stronger.
5. Shadowsight fights Ashfur.
6. Rootspring gets caught by Ashfur.
7. Almost everyone volunteers to go to the Dark Forest.
8. Shadowsight and Bristlefrost go to the Dark Forest together.
9. Bristlefrost tries so hard for Rootspring.
WAIT
At the end of Darkness Within, there was a screech of pain coming from the ShadowClan camp, and before the release of The Place of No Stars, popular opinion was that this was Lionblaze attacking Shadowsight. But in TPoNS, neither Shadowsight nor Ashfur not anyone else in the ShadowClan camp was hurt…so who was it?
Remember that Tigerstar attacked Lionblaze AFTER Rootspring returned from the Moonpool.
:OOOOO
My theory is that this is a mistake by the author…or some mysterious foreshadowing of the events to come!
I just finished it an my god it was an amazing book
