Hi guys, I’ve just reread the prologue of Darkness Within and I’m somehow confused by these lines:
Firestar’s gaze flitted back to the water. “Why did we allow a cat like that to go down there?”
Bluestar snorted. “We were going to keep an eye on him, remember?” she mewed wryly.
Firestar poked a vine angrily.
……
“It was too important to put in the paws of such a cat,” Firestar growled. “We should have sent some other cat.”
“It doesn’t matter who we sent—” Tallstar began.
“Really?” Firestar swung his gaze toward the WindClan leader. “Don’t you think it’s strange that we trusted a cat we should never have trusted in life and this happened? We’ve lost our connection to the Clans. Do you think it’s a coincidence?”
Well, basically I feel like I’m missing something–what are they talking about? Which cat did they send “down there”–and to do what?
If anyone knows, I’d be really really grateful to hear your explanation!
They sent Ashfur to warn the Clans about something. Probably that “something” was Ashfur himself-maybe StarClan knew trouble was coming, but didn’t know what it was. (their foresight can have quite a lot of holes in it sometimes.)
Yup! Btw I wonder if the “Clouds from the Mountain” prophecy was related to Ashfur.
Ashfur probably, because he’s the imposter and he was a StarClan cat.
Kate, What are the names and Gender of Sunshine’s kits?
I’m not sure we ever decided…
Kate, is Ashfur face the headshot on the PoNS book cover?
I don’t know for sure. What do you think?
Is their someone you can ask, Kate?
I never pass on questions. The Ed Team are far too busy. Think of me the as question gatekeeper…
🙂
He looks very similar to Ashfur from Long Shadows, so it’s pretty likely
But Ashfur has spots not stripes
I’m sure it’s him
For me it’s Ashfur. He has blue eyes, everything that has Ashfur.
I think the cat on the cover is Ashfur. I think the Stripes are ether actually spots, or the editors made Ashfur a tabby on purpose. As they depicted Violetshine as a tuxedo even though she’s predomitnaly white.
Let me just say this:
I ship Ash x Squirrel bc of this book (and Darkness Within).
Fight me all ya like >:]
Ashfur is a terrible person
when he was with Squilf he coddled her as if she couldn’t take care of herself. Afterwards he literally spited her for not reciprocating his attention. This is not a good way to handle rejection. He continues to hurt her more and more and more and more just because of this. Ashfur is very toxic and awful,
If I offended u with this comment, then I do apologise.
I know ashfur is one of the most evil cats in Warriors, but that thing I said about Ash x Squirrel is just an opinion of mine. Please don’t judge me.
I agree!
Kate can you tell me the names and gender of Spotfur’s kits?
W.A.S.
I sure do love how when Squirrelflight made Lionblaze her deputy everyone moaned and griped about it but as soon as “loyal” and “trustworthy” Graystripe did the same thing everyone in ThunderClan was fine with it. Why do the authors hate Squirrelflight so much????? What did she do to them????
Ikr! That was so annoying! Both Squirrelflight and Graystripe were only standing in as leaders, and they weren’t “actual” leaders. But ThunderClan only accepted the latter’s decision, and that was so unfair.
Yeah, I didn’t understand that either! But I’m just glad that Lionblaze isn’t temp. leader anymore. I don’t necessarily hate him, but I don’t like him either! I do like his mate, Cinderheart, tho 😛
Well, Lionblaze had never been in a deputy or leader position before, and as TPoNS shows, he SUCKS at leadership. Greystripe, on the other hand, has quite a lot of leadership experience and leadership abilities, so they trust him more than Lionblaze. Also, the cats of ThunderClan elected Greystripe to be leader, and might have felt that Squirrelflight only got the position because she’s Bramblestar’s mate. And with both Squirrelflight and Bramblestar gone, they’re also more desperate-and more infuriated with Lionblaze.
I’m curious about Silverhawk. From which clan he is? I headcanon that he is from SkyClan, but he can be also from WindClan.
Silver- is a name that usually pops up in RiverClan, so that was my headcanon.
I have always imagined him to be from RiverClan. But idk!
Hey Kate! I have a question less related to the books and more towards the official website. Whenever you feature art on the site, do you ask the creator’s permission before you use it? I know that you at the very least credit who made it, but in some cases using art without asking permission first can still be considered a form of art theft.
I don’t have anything to do with the running of the official website.
Kate, do we have any plans for the arc after The Broken Code?
Not yet
Hey kate, who has been your top 3 favorite characters in the broken code so far?
Bristle, Root and Tree
Hey Kate! I was wondering, how do you decide who writes what book? Is it based off of who wrote books in a previous arc, or something like that?
We just alternate. 🙂
An interesting observation-
There were a lot of challenges to Lionblaze’s leadership in this book because Bramblestar and Squirrelflight were out of commission, throwing ThunderClan into a full-blown succession crisis. But depending on the way you interpret the warrior code, Lionblaze was actually the rightfully appointed deputy of ThunderClan, and therefore the rightful acting leader.
The warrior code states that when a leader dies, their position passes to the deputy. If you interpret dying as losing your ninth life, then Bramblestar was still leader and Squirrelflight deputy. But if you count dying as being dead, then Bramblestar was no longer leader(he was technically dead), making Squirrelflight the fully legitimate leader and Lionblaze the deputy.
Hey Kate, I have 3 strange but important questions!! You don’t have to answer all of them ^^
1) Have there ever been litters of more than 4 in the Clans? In the books, I think the cats with the largest litters were Princess and her mother Nutmeg, who had 5-6 kits in their litters. How would the clans have reacted if one of their queens had, for example, EIGHT kittens at once??
2) On a related note, does Thunderclan (or any other clan) ever worry about their general overpopulation? I’m sure many of the older cats remember when Thunderclan had about 15 cats total. How does anyone feel about having 50+ cats in one clan? With that many mouths to feed, would they ever have to ration prey, even during the “abundant” months?
3) And lastly, what would the current main three’s ancestors say to them if they could meet them now? (i.e., Tigerstar to Shadowsight, Firestar to Bristlefrost, Root to Rootspring)
1. Gosh, I can’t remember!
2. They think a big Clan is a strong Clan and haven’t yet thought about the prey running out. When prey is short – during leaf bare of following a disaster like flood or fire, there’s no need to ration since older warriors will voluntarily go without food rather than see a kit, queen or elder go hungry.
3. What do you think they’d say?
