I think they may still be there, but in Squirrelflight’s Hope Starclan says that most of the DF has disappeared into nothing.
In Veil Of Shadows, when Shadowsight is in the Dark Forest he doesn’t see any of Dark Forest cats there, but wonders if they are watching him.
They fade forever, like Spottedleaf. It’s only known that they just never return, unless the Broken Code proves that wrong

I strongly want the code to change. In my opinion, it’s super unfair to outsiders and easily can support tyrants and other evil cats. I may have…hehe…wrote a ten page long essay on Quotev about how much I disagree with the code lol.
Shadowsight is going to in big trouble in beginning of this book.

I just finished reading the place of no stars and I can’t wait for 7 more months until I get to read “a light in the mist”. Why does it take so long to publish if u finished writing it in December?
I only finished it early because I had to write Leopardstar’s Honor straight after ready for publication in July! I promise, we’re all very busy!
Theory: The Clans send a search party into the Dark Forest. Important members:
Ivypool – she knows it
Bristlefrost – she just tags along
and for plot convenienceShadowsight – he needs to escape his jerk Clan for a bit
Breezepelt – knows it, and needs more development
Other members I can’t think of right now, too.
Also Rootspring is going to stay home
and worry about Bristle aww…I ship BristleRoot so hard, so this next part will be a bit biased…
They meet Mapleshade and then this happens…
[spoiler title=”What I think might be part of the book”] Mapleshade pulled Bristlefrost aside. “Do you want to know how I got here?” she hissed. Bristlefrost could hardly speak before the dark she-cat began to tell her story. “I fell in love with a cat from a different Clan and had his kits. When my secret was discovered, I was exiled. My kits drowned on my journey. I began to seek revenge, and I wound up here.” She began to hiss. “I do not fear much, but I fear you are on the same path. You fell in love with Rootspring, and you’re carrying his kits. “What?” Bristlefrost mewed quietly. “Haven’t you noticed?” said Mapleshade sharply. “Oh… oh no.” whispered Bristlefrost, her eyes wide with fear. “What will I do?” Mapleshade replied, “Be quiet. My path became dark when I was found out. So keep your mouth shut!” Bristlefrost was scared. She bolted away, back to the group of cats. “Don’t listen to Mapleshade. She’s lying.” said Ivypool. If only that were true, thought Bristlefrost.
And then when she gets home, she tells Rootspring. The kits are born in book 6, and one of them can be a main character in the next series!

I Agree, because the words ” The Time Has Come To Return To The Dark Forest” in the blurb for The Place Of No Stars, anything could be possible in the Dark Forest.

I have high hopes for this book.
I hope there is a time gap between Darkness Within and The Place Of No Stars, and in that gap all the remaining clan apprentices get their warrior names
Also I would like to see Curlfeather’s kits become apprentices in The Place Of No Stars or The Broken Code #6.
