Who killed Ashfur? by Echopaw

Echopaw takes a look at Ashfur’s death in the Power of Three.

Hello! This is Echopaw/mist with a theory about Power of Three SO DON’T READ THIS IF YOU HAVEN’T READ POWER OF THREE AND I’M JUST GOING TO HOPE THAT YOU DIDN’T SEE THE TITLE.
Okay, so thinking that you heeded my warning I’m going to go ahead.
Did Hollyleaf actually slaughter Ashfur? I mean, sure, she was angry, but rule-following, Warrior Code-obsessed Hollyleaf? I highly doubt that.
Also in defence of Ashfur he just wanted to be with Squirrelflight who quite frankly is not good enough for him and I should probably stop now before I start ranting.
What I think happened was Hollyleaf set out to drown Ashfur, but then felt bad and just knocked him into the water. So she would think that she had killed him by accident (uh, kind of).
Let’s see who might have a grudge against him (other than Hollyleaf)
Maybe Thistleclaw?
Brambleclaw (now that’s what I call taking a fight over a girl TOO FAR)
Tigerstar (I will explain underneath)
Ferncloud (great StarClan this is getting savage)

Thistleclaw
It says in Crookedstar’s Promise that this crazy savage dude is very very disappointed in his son, Whitestorm, who’s son is Ashfur. It’s possible.

Brambleclaw
Brambleclaw must have noticed how many fights there were between him and Squirrelflight, and realised that he might lose her to Ashfur if he wasn’t careful.
So he decided to be careful and killed him.
Okaaaaaaaaaaaaay…

Tigerstar
Tigerstar maybe because he was angry at Dustpelt for not leaving ThunderClan with him. Dustpelt’s mate is Ferncloud, who’s brother is Ashfur so maybe he knew that the best way to upset Dustpelt was upsetting Ferncloud (I mean Darktail knew that so Tigerstar would too…)
Also he’s a crazy killer so why not? And he might be keeping his promise to kill off ThunderClan…

Ferncloud
I bet all of you are thinking ‘what on Earth, Echomist? She’s FERNCLOUD for StarClan’s sake’ and I understand that but think about how many deaths she had to endure (Larchkit, Brindleface, Shrewpaw, Foxleap, Whitestorm, Hollykit). Think about that last one; Hollykit. Maybe she was jealous that Hollyleaf survived when her daughter, Hollykit, didn’t. Maybe she saw Hollyleaf attack Ashfur and thought ‘if I were to kill him, she would take the blame.’ But then she felt really bad and still did it. Also they might have had a quarrel.

Look above at Ferncloud to find out.

So because Hollykit is a… kit I’m ruling her out. And I’m ruling out Tigerstar because I’ve noticed that he doesn’t normally kill the mother, then the son.
It’s normally the other way around…
So it’s either Ferncloud, Thistleclaw or Brambleclaw. Tell me what you think in the comments!
