Hollyfrost and Willowpaw debate who would’ve been a better mate for Bluestar.

( me/hollyfrost) : hello! it’s me hollyfrost back with another article! and today me and willowpaw/fur will be doing “oakheart VS thrushpelt :who was a better choice for bluestar?” now enough chitchat and let’s see what willowpaw has to say! take it away!
(willowpaw/fur): hi! so hollyfrost and i are debating, and i’m debating on the side that bluestar should’ve chosen thrushpelt! hollyfrost is going to debate that bluestar should’ve chosen oakheart, like she did! okay, so now we’re going start debating.
so, i think bluestar should’ve chosen thrushpelt because he was in her clan, and it would just be so much easier for both of them. thrushpelt truly loved bluestar, and bluestar said once that, “i would’ve been happy with you [thrushpelt].” plus, oakheart and bluestar didn’t really have much development.
(me/hollyfrost): good points! i honestly think oakheart was right for her because it just feels like they we’re made for each other. as for they we’re in different clans, a lot of warriors relationships are like that and it doesn’t make THAT much of a difference. if bluestar and oakheart weren’t mates, than stonefur and mistyfoot (star) wouldn’t be alive. i understand they didn’t have that much development, but they did have a lot of fun and love with/for another.
(willowpaw/fur): i understand Mistystar and Stonefur wouldn’t be alive, but bluestar could’ve had other kits or no kits at all. plus, someone else could’ve sacrificed themself for feathertail and stormfur. i’m pretty graystripe would do that or some other riverclan cat. also leopardstar would have appointed another cat deputy that was not hawkfrost, because leopardstar became leader before hawkfrost joined.
i think bluestar did love thrushpelt- but just as a friend. also thrushpelt loved bluestar. she may have not loved him as she loved oakheaert, but as i said before, bluestar even said “she could’ve been happy with him.”
anyway, great arguments!
(me/hollyfrost): i understand what your saying, i just feel like bluestar and oakheart were meant for each other, yea sure she would’ve been happy with thrushpelt, but she loved oakheart the most. and it was really sweet how mistystar and stonefur forgave her while she was dying. also if mistystar and stonefur weren’t alive, than she would’ve died in a instant, she had firestar, mistystar AND stonefurs help. i know she would’ve died anyways, but not as slow as she did. it’s been awhile since i read bluestar’s prophecy (it’s also my fav book), but i think bluestar loved oakheart more than any other tom.
Great article Hollyfrost and Willowpaw! You made very good points. I think that Bluestar should have chosen Thrushpelt.
That is really good points! Now you got me stuck with who Bluestar should chose! But I think it’s best to just say Bluestar loves Oakheart.
Can I have where Bluestar said “I would’ve been happy with you” because I have absolutely no memory of it? I like OakBlue better because Bluefur only thought of Thrushpelt as a friend.
It was after he asked her if she’s really pregnant:)
i haven’t read it in a while so when i re-read it i’ll find the page for you :DD
Oakheart: Bluefur loved him, but that made her life end in trauma. When Oakheart died in book one, she never got to show her depression. And her kits hated her, as they were in Riverclan instead of Thunderclan
Thrushpelt: This would have worked out better. She wouldn’t have to give away her kits, because Thrushpelt could take care of them. Thrushpelt loved her, and maybe it was stupid for Bluefur to ignore his feelings.
I am pretty sure that Bluestar had a lot of depression when Oakheart died but maybe she just didn’t want her clan o see her mourning for a RIVERCLAN cat! But maybe she was grieving for Oakheart and Redtail at the same time.
Is this story in Bluestar’s prophecy? If so, what part? I’d love to read this ^^
Yeah, it’s in Bluestar’s prophecy! Near the end of the book, I think.
You can’t force attraction, plus the OakBlue interactions are super cute, but Bluestar should’ve treated Thrushpelt way better, like telling him the truth about the kits and who their father was. Thrushpelt is still my second favorite warrior cat though.
I’m going for a bold opinion: I think Oakheart and Thrushpelt deserved better than Bluestar. I don’t think she treated them well.
When she announced her pregnancy to Oakheart, the whole scene was off: She barred him from joining Thunderclan. Then assumed she knew Oakheart’s dreams better than himself, telling him to focus on deputyship. When she announced she’ll be taking a Thunderclan father and Oakheart rightfully questioned this, she ignored him. Then she did a heel-turn, dumping her unwanted litter on him. She revealed Mosskit’s death in the most disrespectful way: “Where’s the other one?”, Oakheart called. “Dead”, Bluefur stumbled but didn’t look around. […] Unable to bear their desperate cries, she turned and fled through the trees.”
With Thrushpelt: He already accepted that Bluefur didn’t love him and her true mate was likely forbidden. He sacrificed so much to prove his trustworthiness. Bluestar could’ve told him the truth of Oakheart and Thistleclaw, asking for his help. But Bluefur was so self-righteous, she believed she justified lying all his adopted children are dead. It was unneeded. She even hid her personal involvement in Mosskit’s death.
*heartfelt applause*
I agree with you, mellowix. Bluestar was very rude to Oakheart, and I personally think that she’s a mean character in general. If I DID have to choose between the two relationships, however, I’d go with Thrushpelt because, like you said, he wanted Bluestar’s trustworthiness so badly.
(To Hollyfrost and Willowpaw:)
Great article, guys! But I agree with Willowpaw more. I think that Bluestar was too cocky, however, to realize that there was a good and caring cat right in front of her nose. (Thrushpelt.) And I absolutely hated how Bluestar and Oakheart’s relationship started off. Oakheart was acting so creepy, and I was sure he would become a stalker. I honestly don’t understand how Bluestar fell for him in the first place. And then, almost right after that, Bluestar started being a jerk to Oakheart. I just think the BlueOak relationship is poor, and the two cats clearly had something against each other deep down inside.
Cool article, and great topic! It’s very interesting! 😀
Both of you had awesome points, but I have to say I’m with Hollyfrost!
I love Thrushpelt, and I think he deserved someone better than Bluestar. And I like Blue x Oak. :3 I don’t think Bluestar every really loved Thrushpelt, and why would she become mates with him, what would be the point, if she didn’t really love him? It might have caused a lot more pain for Thrushpelt.
Once again, great article! Good job, both of you! 😀
Great article! I believe that Bluetsar should have chosen Thrushpelt because Thrushpelt’s behavior towards her hardly changes when he gets friendzoned and he even agrees to pretend to be the father of her kits without asking any questions and he’s just awesome like that. :] And if you think about it, Bluestar actually spends far more time with Thrushpelt than Oakheart throughout her super edition.
it finally got posted!!! :DD
It’s brilliant! Great job! <3
thank you! :DD
I’m late but yay it’s out!
Thrustpelt! he was very sweet in Spottedleaf’s heart.
(also, on that topic, is anyone else kinda bummed we didn’t make it to the medicine cat ceremony?)
I love how you did the debating! (P.S. Bluestar’s Prophecy was the first warriors book I read!)
Nononono, I think totally opposite! Sure, Bluestar and Oakheart liked each other, and Oakheart did his best to be flexible for her, but Thrushpelt was the one who really looked out for her behind the curtains. He was the one who did not mind that he wasn’t a real father, and still helped Bluestar raise her kits (until they got sent away, that is). He was the one who never minded her treating him as nothing but a friend, and didn’t mind having to keep his thoughts about loving Bluestar to himself. Oakheart did nothing but fall in love with Bluestar, be kind to her every now and then, and then took in her kits (kindly, of course) and never spoke to her again. A few years later, he even attacked he even attacked her Clan the second he was asked to (I mean, the least he could have done was stop taunting and mocking ThunderClan while he was battling, right?)
I also think that logically, Thrushpelt would have been a much more fair choice.
If Oakheart loved her so much, why didn’t he move clans to be with her?
TEAM THRUSHPELT.
