Hello! Today I am going to talk about Mapleshade and Appledusk and why Mapleshade deserves Starclan and Appledusk deserves the Dark forest. Now let’s get started! Mapleshade and Appledusk were at first mates but when Thunderclan found out they exiled Mapleshade!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
(Which is unfair because Leafpool got away with it!!!!) Then Mapleshade and her kits went to the river to get to Riverclan but Mapleshade’s kits drowned because Appledusk did not help!!!!! Then he blamed Mapleshade when it was his fault that Mapleshade’s kits died!!!! And it gets worse!!!!!!!!!!!!!! He makes the Riverclan leader exile Mapleshade and gets a new mate!!!!!!!
And then Mapleshade started seeing visions of her kits begging her to kill Ravenwing, Frecklewish and Appledusk!!!!!! Then later she goes to the Dark forest when she dies INSTEAD OF STARCLAN!!!!!!!!!! Mapleshade did go a little over the top at the Dark forest but she did have a point unlike Tigerstar who is evil and nothing else!!!!! AND APPLEDUSK GETS TO BE LAZY IN STARCLAN!!!!!!!
Mapleshade was happy when she went to the Dark forest because she would see cats that understand her reason to kill Ravenwing, Frecklewish and Appledusk. She would be even more happy if she went to Starclan with her kits and got to hunt with her kits and feel happy all the time instead of going mad in the Dark forest!!!!!!!
Now time to go through Mapleshade and Appledusk’s good and bad things!!!
First the good things!!!
Mapleshade: Loves her kits.
Appledusk: No good things about him!!!!
Now the bad things!!!!
Mapleshade: None
Appledusk: He hates Mapleshade!!!!!!
So Mapleshade needs to go to Starclan and Appledusk needs to go to the Dark forest!!!! Mapleshade is much better then Appledusk because,
1. He does not love his kits and Mapleshade does.
2. He is evil and Mapleshade is not.
3. He blames Mapleshade when it is his fault that Mapleshade’s kits died.
4. He should not be in Starclan.
So Mapleshade is not evil and Appledusk is!!!!!!!!!! Appledusk is 100% evil!!!!!!!!!!!
Appledusk fans and Mapleshade haters please don’t shout at me but if you think Appledusk is good you are so wrong!!!!! Appledusk is evil and should rot in the Dark forest!!!!!!!
Sorry if I sounded rude but really Appledusk is evil and lots of people love him which is crazy!!!!

Appledusk didn’t make the leader exile Mapleshade or the kits. It was HER decision. Even if Appledusk advocated for Mapleshade to stay, at that time, the leader’s word was law. Since he was caught breaking the code once, his instincts told him to take Darkstar’s second chance and be loyal. Yeah, it was a jerk move, but hey, Foxheart was a huge jerk but went to StarClan because she proved her loyalty.
Yes, Mapleshade was happy in the Dark Forest because it is full of evil psychopathic cats that validate anything evil. It’s an echo chamber, of course Mapleshade would like only hearing what she wants to hear. And it is probably for the best that she didn’t get to see her kits. Yes, she loved them, but those kits would probably be very confused by their mother’s motives for being evil. They are safer that way, whether Mapleshade likes it or not. And APPLEDUSK CARED FOR HIS KITS AND WAS SAD WHEN THEY DIED. They would be loved there with cats who don’t use impulse to lead to their deaths. Oh, Mapleshade went mad long before dying.

Here are some good things about Appledusk, however much of a jerk he is:
1. he is a responsible parent who warns the other one who is inexperienced with water about the dangers of young kits during a flood
2. he did try to save the kits but was in shock about the whole situation, he did everything he could
Here are some bad things about Mapleshade:
1. She has manipulated other cats her whole life, and is unreliable when it comes to what really happened, this tricks the reader and the cats around her
2. She really only cares about herself. Yes, she loves her kits, but when learning about her pregnancy, she only wanted for ThunderClan to respect her and her forbidden relationship
3. She is willing to kill innocent cats who were just doing their job, or are reasonably upset at Mapleshade for betraying them
So while Appledusk does have his flaws, he did not deserve the DF. And Mapleshade NEVER deserved StarClan for the manipulative, evil cat she was.

Great points however it doesn’t matter what Mapleshade did in the future, it matters about how she became the cat she was. Mapleshade lost everything and can plunge someone to the dark depths of insanity that shatters the minds ability to tell what’s right or wrong. In this case Mapleshades has extreme hallucinations. Hallucinations is probably the second worse mental problem (schizophrenia is first). It’s the cats who made her like this who are mostly to blame. I think Mapleshade should have gone to the dark forest for 1 moon, then go to starclan. Oh also multiverse of Madness is my favourite Marvel movie. So yep

While she did have hallucinations that could be caused by mental illness, this does not change what she did BEFORE those occurred. She manipulated her Clan into believing that the kits resulting from her already forbidden relationship were the kits of a well respected warrior that ThunderClan was still grieving. She manipulated her leader into thinking that the kits were pure ThunderClan, and she betrayed her best friend Frecklewish, who wanted nothing more than to have a part of her brother. Before the deaths of the kits she had reckless actions that directly resulted in the deaths of her young kittens. By deliberately not listening to a RiverClan warrior about the river being dangerous during a flood, her kits drowned and she almost died, too. There were other options available like waiting it out in nearby territory, which could have avoided the situation.
By not only having kits with a forbidden love, but lying and manipulating her Clan to try to get away with it and/or minimize any consequences, just to assert her dominance over a tom is extremely illegal and based on how StarClan judging works that alone would secure her place in the DF.
When I was talking about the hallucinations, I was not saying that because Mapleshade had them, she went to the Dark Forest. She was a victim of her own mind, and I can agree that she suffered in that way. What I was trying to do was rebut the article, as it said that the kit visions were them from StarClan, when they were in fact not.
There are so many forbidden relationships in warrior, Apple dusk x Mapleshade was not the worst. Mating a medince cat is far worse, if your going to use this to attack Mapleshade you Aswell should attack Leaf x Crow, Blue x Oak, Yellow x Ragged, Silver x Grey, Twig x Fin., etc. We do not see Mapleshade walk up to her leader and try to manipulate. Frecklesish was not her friend, Mapleshade did not want to be her friend, she was polite so Frecklesish could go away. We don’t know if they are from sky clan, we don’t know if it the from the dark forest, we don’t know if it was because of the hallucinations.
Appledusk basically betrayed her and replaced her once she was exiled, even though it’s HIS fault she was exiled.

This article is so cliche. Frecklewish did not deserve to go to the Dark Forest. Sure, she may broke the code of to not rescuing the kits, but it was sensible she didn’t get involve, and not to mention the fact that a RiverClan Patrol was over there that could have save the kits. It is also proves that this is not enough evidence to put Frecklewish in the Dark Forest, because many cats, like BlueStar, heck, even Oakstar was the blame because he was the reason the kits die should have gone to the Dark Forest for endangering kits. Ravenwing was a Medicine Cat and it was his responsiblility. It wasn’t his fault that the kits died, he never what would happen. Appledusk never really did anything, but he deserves Starclan, still.
I agree with you, Sarah. Appledusk was obviously upset that his kits died. Honestly, I don’t see how appledusk deserves the Dark Forest. All he did was cheat on Maple shade and that was it. Ravenwing was a medicine cat and it was his duty to tell Oakstar. Oakstar should be the one in the Dark Forest since he exiled a mother with her poor kits. Honestly, Maple shade still deserves the Dark Forest since she murdered innocent cats and endangered her own kits.
Personally, I think that they both should have gone to the Dark Forest, especially considering Frecklewish went to the Dark Forest (which, btw, I don’t really think should have happened but it did, so Appledusk probably should too lol). Mapleshade, although she did love her kits dearly and was doing it out of vengeance and what she thought was only fair, should not have murdered anyone. Appledusk should not have given Mapleshade kits only to abandon her- especially on a night like it was, with the river overflowed.

I personally have not read Mapleshade’s Vengance but I know a lot out of posts. I think that Mapleshade and Appledusk should have gone to the Dark Forest only because Mapleshade killed the other cats to try to make her kits feel satisfied. Appledusk should also go to the Dark Forest because he did not care for his mate and didn’t attempt to save his own kin.
Imagine, you’ve been exiled from the clan, your kits have died, and when you arrive at your mate’s clan they do not accept you. Not only that, but your mate denies that he ever loved you. It was normal to take vengeance. Queens ought to be more protective of their kits after all. If it happened to any other queen I bet they would’ve done the same thing.
Because of all that loss Mapleshade goes insane. Going insane is kind of not considering what your doing is wrong as well as hallucinations is wrong, in this case her kits
Great article! I also thought it was ridiculous Oakstar exiled Mapleshade AND her kits. Like it would have been way more reasonable if he just exiled Mapleshade and kept the kits. The kits did not choose their parents, and they should not be punished for something their parents did. If Oakstar did that, he could’ve saved the lives of 3 kits.
I believe both are evil, but Mapleshade had reasons to kill the cats she did, and they did deserve to die. I don’t think it’s fair to call her “not evil,” though. She did kill cats, but for a good reason.
Orange pelt you are amazing. Mapleshade really is the best, and I say this slot but I do think she should have gone to starclan but I feel like the dark forest wouldn’t really be the same without her. GO MAPLESHADE 😍😍
Great article! But I disagree with some of your points…
-1: “Mapleshade is not evil”. I believe that indeed she wasn’t always evil, as no one was, and I’d have liked to see more of her childhood…Maybe from Frecklewish’s eyes, killing two rabbits with one stone. But the way she acted in the books sometimes showed cruelty and lack of empathy for others: Such as not telling a grieving sister that her kits weren’t Birchface’s, and letting the whole Clan believe in Frecklewish’s illusion. I think that one was maybe her greatest flaw before her kits died, so maybe that’s what StarClan had in mind? She is revealed to plan on using her kits to achieve a goal, in the case to have Appledusk all for herself (“He’s mine, Reedshine. These kits will make sure of that!”). She loves her kits, though. That is shown on the way she thinks about Patchkit while having hallucinations. She manipulated Frecklewish, manipulated Oakstar and manipulated her Clan. But here’s the catch: She manipulated herself as well. She kept telling herself it was the will of StarClan, that she did not lie, that it wasn’t her fault. And I don’t think she meant to. She was going slightly insane because of the voices on her head. And she did have hallucinations, Or at least that’s what Vicky said.

He sacrificed himself for Reedshine and their kits. I actually can only think about this one…So I don’t completely disagree with you on this one. (Again, Appledusk lovers, your opinion is well respected by me.) After all, you’ve done a very good article.And I’m not attacking your opinion. I love Mapleshade, as villain and character. I have changed my opinion on this now. I now think that it was not Appledusk’s fault that Darkstar did not let Mapleshade join Riverclan. When I made this I had not read the book myself and only heard about Mapleshade. But I still like her as a villain and I still think that Appledusk should not have gone to Starclan.
On my freaking god, someone who agrees! Appledusk is a cruel, fox-hearted cat!! I think poor Mapleshade deserves to see her kits forever in StarClan, sure, she killed cats, but she was suffering with severe depression. She got betrayed by Appledusk! Appledusk should rot his miserable life away in the Dark Forest!
