Hi everyone! I’m currently drawing Prophecy of Light art, and I have a question 😀
The image features Sunpaw and Whitepaw (both sisters) around in a circle. I’m trying to decide what colour scheme to shade them with, though, and I wanted one that would reflect their relationship! I originally chose red, but doesn’t it kind of emit ‘danger’ vibes? They have a really good relationship, so it’s not like they absolutely hate each other.
What’s your opinion? What colour scheme should I go with? (It’ll most likely be monochromatic [tints and shades of one colour])

I think blue, pink, yellow, or purple would work nicely! :DD
my mind immediately leapt to yellow! tbf, the names Sunpaw and Whitepaw probably contributed a lot to that. Otherwise, I think maybe keep it warm toned since cool colors in general give me negative vibes? whatever you think is best!

I think a shade of yellow would be fun- like they’re standing in a pool of light or smth. Perhaps you could use a bit of saturated orange for areas you want to accentuate? But ofc, in the end, it’s your choice :DD

Yellow could work, I don’t know how Sunpaw and Whitepaw look but warm purple or pink could work as well! Purple is a personal favourite of mine when shading yellow, cream and brown cats

Rosemarypaw is a small, delicate fluffy white munckin chinchilla she-cat with bright-green eyes that look like young herbs. She also has sleek, transparent ear tufts and a fluffy tail. She has a scar over her left eye but not blocking the eye. Her pawsteps are light, and she occasionally has rosemary tendrils twindled around random parts of her body, especially her paws and tail, and/or a mint-blue scarf.
Is it too long? Anyway thanks again 😛

Haha, do you guys have any tips for realism (people, I know how to draw realistic items pretty well)? This is one of my first attempts and it’s definitely no masterpiece, but I don’t know lol: https://justpaste.it/h8gt3
I’m not an expert at drawing realism (the only good realistic thing I’ve drawn is my dog’s head 😛 ) But I would say study the anatomy or proportions of whatever species your drawing (ex human, canine, bird, etc) and a reference really helps! Also for the first time doing realism you did well! The only advice I would is that the nose looks a bit odd, but still very good for a first attempt 😀

Buttt from what I know first do like a sketchy trace of the object (ppl don’t attack me tracing is an actual thing experts advise as long as you don’t use it regularly) then draw over the sketchy trace or something.
I only do cartoon and abstract though so 😛
(It’s more so that it’s a helpful technique for studying and improving your skills in private. Just don’t try to claim it’s all yours and most people will give you a pass ^^)

Like Shurb said, studying various references and learning the structure of what you’re trying to draw could help! It’s also good to break it down into simple shapes to better understand how the lighting creates shadows and bright spots. Also, maybe blend out some of the darker lines?
