The seventh edition of the Blog Monthly is here – written by Lil, fresh off the printing press Hello, everyone!! The Blog Monthly is back and better than ever! I hope you all love this edition, in my opinion it is one...
Sliverthorn argues why Ashfur would’ve been better for Squirrelflight than Brambleclaw.
Scenario
Ok so everyone is well on their way to Darkplace, which is on the trail to the Nightstone.
Just one small problem – you’ve come to a river. No one knows how deep or cold it is, and you can’t test it just in case it is cursed.
There are many ways to tackle this, but only if you can figure it out. Remember everyone is currently on Lvl. 1 with their powers.
Glimmering Stream stared at the river, fast flowing and dark so she couldn’t see the bottom. Instantly she froze up. “What should we do?” Glimmering Stream wailed, sounding like a kit. She took multiple steps back from the river, for fear she would fall in.
Dusk Shard looked at the river in worry. Her mind started panicking, reflecting on how much she hated water.
It’s so wet and cold…and I don’t like it. Why did it have to be a river we had to cross?
Suddenly, her mind turned to how much she failed, and how much she was a burden to the others.
Powers or not, I still can’t believe in myself, She thought, as she gazed at the deep waters that looked like they could swallow her whole.
Silver Sun stepped closer to the river, making sure not to touch a single drop of water. When she didn’t see an obvious way to cross, she lashed her tail in frustration and stared down at her paws. 𝘛𝘩𝘪𝘴 𝘸𝘰𝘶𝘭𝘥 𝘣𝘦 𝘢 𝘯𝘪𝘤𝘦 𝘵𝘪𝘮𝘦 𝘵𝘰 𝘩𝘢𝘷𝘦 𝘮𝘺 𝘱𝘰𝘸𝘦𝘳𝘴 𝘸𝘰𝘳𝘬..Her paws did nothing, and Silver Sun sighed.
Glimmering Stream, her mind still gripped by terror, tried thinking of a way to cross. “Maybe….no….” she meowed. She couldn’t think of anything. “Maybe we could try to find something we could hang onto to float across?” Glimmering Stream knew it wouldn’t work, even as she suggested it. It was far too dangerous, and if the river was cursed it would be more so. “No, that wouldn’t work….” soon her mind was dragged back by the danger of the river. “We could try growing something large and strong enough to let us climb across it?” She suggested, though that wouldn’t work either. First, there was nothing to grow nearby that would work, and second she knew it would take far to long to grow, even with powers. “No, that wouldn’t work either.” Once more her mind was dragged to the roar of the river, as if it was taunting her failure to think of anything.
Scenario
“Well, it looks like you’re stumped, right?” an annoying voice that you really don’t want to hear right now drawls. “I suppose I could give you another rid-”
“No!” Everyone shouts because riddles are annoying like you Foliis.
“Hmmm. Okay,” Foliis sounds like they’re thinking. “I could give you something else.”
“From now on, you can level up. Levelling up means your powers grow greater, and become more of use to you.”
(all the ways to level up are on the info page 🙂 some powers will be more suited to this than others)
Night Raven thought of an idea. “Can someone catch prey? Mabye we could put a mouse or something in to see what happens. ”
In her mind, she knew it might be a bad idea. What if something came out of the water? No, she thought to herself, don’t be silly. She flicked her tail at a spider that was crawling up her tail.
GTG go to bed. Hopefully I can be on later!
I’m sorry, I didn’t accept you. You have to wait until I accept your character.
~Shadowed Rise~
“Good idea,” Shadowed Rise mewed. She threw a large rock in. “I don’t waste prey though.”
The rock sunk in. Nothing happened. It made a splash and sunk in.
THE LAKE IS SAFE TO CROSS
( Can I join? I commented on character creation already. Thanks!!)
” Well nothing happened to the rock and I can still see it at the bottom of the water so I’m guessing its not too deep.” Waterfall meowed. She put a paw in the water and looked over her shoulder. “You guys coming?” she asked.
Glimmering Stream looked into the river. She put her paw forward, trembling. “I-I can’t!” She meowed, running farther from the water. “I can’t!” Even though she knew the river wasn’t cursed, she couldn’t go in. She couldn’t. Not after….her mind threw the thought away.
Waterfall sighed. ” Its just water. We drink it all the time and its quite shallow. The only part we have to swim is the middle. Besides do you really want to be left behind?”
Glimmering Stream still could barely move her paws. “N-no.” She meowed, placing her paws in the water. She wanted to run back as soon as she did, but she forced herself to keep going. It seemed like an eternity that she was in the water, but eventually she got out, shaking her fur out and licking it to get the droplets out. “Never again.” She meowed
Waterfall swam beside Glimmering Stream occasionally pressing her pelt against hers to remind Glimmering Stream that she wasn’t alone. Waterfall won’t ever admit it out loud, but she never liked being alone even if it was only a while. It made her feel safer when she knows that someone is looking out for her. When they reached the shore, Waterfall shook out the water and gave herself a couple licks. ” See, was it that bad?” she meowed annoyed, but secretly she was quite proud that Glimmering Stream actually crossed. ” For a second I though I would have to carry you across the river like a kit!”
Glimmering Stream was still shivering. “I-I’m sorry I couldn’t do it earlier…” she meowed shakily. “It was just…really scary.”
Waterfall’s expression grew serious. ” You don’t have to tell me, but is there a reason why you’re so scared of the water?”
Glimmering Stream rubbed her paws together. She hadn’t told many cats yet, and definitely not anyone in this group. “As a kit my brother loved to play in the water.” Her voice cracked and wavered as she spoke. “He would sneak out of our den to go play in rivers, streams, puddles, you name it, he was there. And he would take me with him. One day, it was raining, and he insisted on going out anyway.” Her voice started breaking. “A-and when we went in and started playing, a huge wave came.” She was crying now. “And there was nothing I could do! I didn’t know what was going on, and I was hit against something and went unconscious. My mother found us both, but by the time she did it was to late.” Glimmering Stream had to pause before she could say the last part, hoping to pull herself back together. “My brother was dead.” All she could do was walk away, still sobbing.
(Can I change my name from Dusk Shard to Dusk Frost?)
(Yup!)
Crow fur
“Come it’s not like the Nightstone is going to come to us he said racing up the trail.
“Y-yes…” Glimmering Stream meowed, chasing after Crow Fur, trying not to break down even more.
Waterfall padded after them, not sure what to do. She never lost a family member before, she didn’t even remember her family. Waterfall didn’t know how to sympathize with any cats. She can talk them into doing something, but comforting them is different. To comfort others, she needed to be gentle and patient. None of these qualities applied to herself. ” Um….. Streamy…….” she muttered, catching up. ” I’m sorry for being tough on you when you didn’t want to cross the river,”
Glimmering Stream glanced at Waterfall. “I-it’s fine.” She meowed, still stammering and wavering. “It was necessary. I should be thanking you for convincing me to get across. If you weren’t as tough I might not have crossed.”
” No problem,” Waterfall mumbled.
“Do you guys want to stop and hunt for a bit?” Waterfall asked.
“Up to you.” Glimmering Stream meowed, still walking
(sry Rain I got mixed up with my other RP can you change your character’s name to Water Fall or something like that we’re all ancients? Thx)
(kk)
Dusk Frost (Same cat, different name) nodded, her fur still trembling from the river.
Quit acting like a kit, she thought to herself.
Glimmering Stream glanced at Dusk Frost, seeing her trembling. I guess I’m not the only one who’s scared . She wanted to comfort her, but she had no idea how to comfort someone when she couldn’t even comfort herself.
“Hey Dusk Frost, Streamy, want to hunt together?”
“Sure…” Dusk Frost mewed, shaking her head, trying to get herself warm.
I’m fine, I’m fine, She thought, letting her breath deepen out, and calm down. She looked up again, trying to seem like she was calm, though her heart was beating so loud that she thought everyone could hear it.
( ok this is not related, but here’s your art request. I’m not sure if you saw it : https://freeimage.host/i/d0WYhl)
(It’s SO CUTE!!!! I love it!!!)
( Since we’re ancients, I’m changing my name to Falling Water)
Falling Water noticed Dusk Frost’s trembling. Is she also scared of the water? Falling Water wondered, sniffing the air for prey.
Glimmering Stream followed Falling Water, wondering if she could say something to Dusk Frost to help her calm down. Maybe it would be better if we left her alone , Glimmering Stream thought. Though she knew that wouldn’t help. She turned her attention to hunting. “I think I smell some mice over there.” She whispered, flicking her tail in the direction of the mouse.
Falling Water crouched down and stalked the mouse. She pounced and bit the mouse’s neck, killing it instantly. “Got it!” Falling Water meowed picking up the mouse.
Glimmering Stream pounced on the other mice that scurried away as Falling Water made her kill. She landed on one and killed it, but the other ones were too far away for her to catch.
“Nice catch!” Falling Water meowed through her prey.
“Good Job, you two.” Dusk Frost mewed quietly, spotting a third mouse nibbling on an nut.
Crouching, the dark ginger she-cat leaped towards the tiny animal and killed it quickly.
“Three plump and juicy mice.” Falling Watering meowed happily. “Come on, let’s get back with the others.”
“Ok.” Glimmering Stream meowed, following Falling Water.
“Kay,” Dusk Frost said, glancing behind her, feeling as though something was there.
But when she looked, there was nothing but oak trees and brambles.
Shrugging, she padded behind Glimmering Stream and Falling Water.
Falling Water walked back into the open clearing and gulped down her mice. She heard a rustling noise behind her. “Did you hear that?!” she asked whipping around and staring at the brambles.
“No, what?” Glimmering Stream meowed, following Falling Water’s gaze. Could it be the monster? Glimmering Stream fretted.
Falling Water sniffed the air and her eyes widened. ” I think I smell fox….” she meowed quietly.
Glimmering Stream sniffed the air. “I think so too.” She whispered. She felt a moment of relief before a wave of fear. Could we fight off a fox? Glimmering Stream wasn’t sure. “What should we do?” She asked
Falling Water shrugged, keeping an eye on the brambles. “We might be able to fight it off, but cats can get hurt. What do you think?”
Glimmering Stream didn’t take her eyes away from where Falling Water was looking. “I think our best option would be to run, but we would lose a lot of energy. I think it would be better then fighting though.”
” Are we fast enough? If the fox is behind us, we won’t be able to keep an eye on it.” Falling Water hissed, backing away slowly.
(Bloompaw, we are like carrying this roleplay)
“I-I don’t know…” Glimmering Stream whispered. “I don’t know what to do!” If she didn’t have to be quiet she would have wailed it out. She felt so useless.
(Perhaps 😛)
Suddenly, the fox stepped out of the brambles. Falling Water sniffed, It smelled like a nursing queen, probably seeing us as a threat to her kits. Before she could react, the fox pounced. Falling Water gasped and unsheathed her claws and stuck them into the foxes belly.
As if her body was moving on its own, Glimmering Stream leaped onto the fox and started clawing it’s back, trying to help Falling Water. Soon, she was flung off, and hit the ground. Pain flashed through her, as she remembered how terrible she was at fighting.
Dusk Frost froze for a second, having never seen a fox up close before, but leaped forwards, and clawing it paws. The fox let out a grunt and picked up the dark ginger she-cat with it’s huge, slobbery teeth, fear and pain streaking inside of her.
I’m gonna die…I’m gonna die…
Falling Water’s eyes widened as she saw Dusk Frost getting picked up by the fox. She leaped onto the fox’s back and clawed her, hoping the fox drops Dusk Frost.
Glimmering Stream leapt after Falling Water, terrified that something would happen to Dusk Frost. “Get away from her!” She hissed at the fox, sinking her fangs into the fox’s leg.
Dusk Frost screeched as the fox bit down, snarling at the two cats below it.
Not hard enough to do permanent damage, but it still hurts! Dusk Frost thought dizzily, wondering if she was going to pass out.
The fox let out a yelp and dropped the dark ginger she-cat to the ground.
And everything became dark.
(Dusk Frost is not dead, she just passed out for a tiny bit)
Glimmering Stream stared in horror at the unconscious body of Dusk Frost, and bit down even harder at the fox’s leg, though the fox snapped at her and she had to let go. “I’ll take Dusk Frost somewhere safer!” She called to Falling Water, hoping she would be ok. Glimmering Stream heaved Dusk Frost onto her back and took her behind a bramble bush. It’s not much, Glimmering Stream thought. But it’ll have to do! With that, Glimmering Stream rushed back to help Falling Water.
Falling Water gave the fox a last bite before it ran away. She felt a moment of relief before she saw Dusk Frost lying on the ground, eyes closed. She panicked, not knowing what to do. Was Dusk Frost dead? What herbs are good for wounds? Falling Water leaned over Dusk Frost and felt for her pulse. She gasped with relief. The pulse was faint, but still there. She looked at the wound, it was quite deep, but not too bad. She began cleaning it, licking the wound. ” We need cobwebs to stop the bleeding and um…. some herb to treat the wound.” she muttered to herself, trying to remember things about herbs.
( Here’s a list of medicine cat herbs: https://ajwarriorcats.wordpress.com/med-cat-herbs/)
“We need comfrey, that’ll help soothe it, dried oak leaf or burdock root could help keep it from getting infected.” Glimmering Stream meowed, finally feeling useful. “Burdock root would be better if it was a rat bite but it should work for fox bites too. Marigold could also work to stop infection.” She searched her mind for other herbs that they would need.
“I didn’t know you knew so much about herbs,” Falling Water meowed. “Good thing you’re here. I’ll stay with Dusk Frost while you look for them.”
“Thank you.” Glimmering Stream meowed, surprised by the she-cat’s praise. “I’ll be right back.” She meowed, trying to sound confident when her mind was screaming that she would fail. She always failed. She sniffed the air, scents filling her nose, and soon she caught on to the scent of marigold, and she followed the trail of scents.
Falling Water used some nearby moss to soak up the blood and used the leftover moss to soak up water. She hesitantly opened Dusk Frost mouth and dripped the water from the moss inside. She stepped back, not knowing what to do. She felt so… useless.
Glimmering Stream came back to Falling Water, comfrey and marigold held in her mouth. “I was lucky.” She meowed. “Chew this.” She meowed, pushing the comfrey to Falling Water. She got to work on chewing the marigold.
Falling Water chewed the comfrey into a poultice and spit it back out. “Do I just rub it on the wound?” Falling Water asked.
“Wait, I forgot to clean out the wound with cobwebs, and I need some to keep in in place!” Glimmering Stream meowed, looking around and seeing some close by in another bramble patch, and using it to block out the blood from the wound. “Yeah, we rub it on the wound and use the cobweb to keep the poultice in place.”
Falling Water nodded. “I cleaned Dusk’s wound with moss already by the way.” She rubbed the poultice onto the wound and used cobwebs to cover it. “You better save some of the poultice for your own wounds Streamy,”
“I’m fine, we should use the rest for yours.” Glimmering Stream meowed, though she knew that her wounds were much worse then anything Falling Water had. The fox wasn’t able to do much damage to Falling Water, but she still had a few scratches, and Glimmering Stream didn’t want to be a burden and use any of the herbs. “Hold still.” She meowed.
Falling Water leaped away. “Don’t be ridiculous Streamy.” she meowed. ” You need it much more than I do.” Falling Water paused. “We can always fight for it,” she meowed, half joking. “If I win, you use the poultice and if you win, I’ll use it,”
“Seriously?” Glimmering Stream meowed. “Fight for it? Maybe we should jump in the river after, just to get us even more injured. And I don’t need it. The wounds barely even hurt.” That was a lie. The scrape from where she hit onto the rock was screaming with pain, but she could handle it. “I don’t need it.” She meowed.
” We’re not going to stab each other to death.” Falling Water meowed. “Besides, I was joking.” She peered over at Glimmering Stream’s wounds. Most were small scratches, but there was one deep cut on her back. “Come on Streamy,” she meowed. “Thorns hurt me more than these scratches. You won’t be helpful if you’re hurt and can barley hunt and walk.”
“Fine.” Glimmering Stream meowed, not wanting to argue more. She leaned picked up some on the poultice and started spreading it on her largest wound, feeling miserable that herbs were being wasted on her.
Dusk Frost jerked her head up, wincing a little, (Time to wake her up now) and stared at the two she-cats, saying in an husky, rough voice,” What are you doing?”
“Nothing important.” Glimmering Stream meowed, taking a break from her infuriating task. “I’m so glad you’re ok!”
Falling Water purred, satisfied. She began licking her scratches. “When do you think Dusk will wake up?” she asked, if she wakes up she added bitterly in her mind.
“She’s awake!” Glimmering Stream meowed excitedly.
Falling Water looked over at Dusk Frost. “Do you need anything?” Falling Water asked. “Water, fresh kill, poppy seeds?”
Glimmering Stream nodded. “Once you’re ready to travel we can go back to the others. They must be really worried about us…” She trailed off.
Falling Water nodded and helped Dusk Frost stand up. “Let’s go,” she meowed.
Glimmering Stream walked over to support Dusk Frost’s other side. “Yeah.” She meowed in response to Falling Water.
“I can try to walk.” Dusk Frost mewed hesitantly. “I don’t want to be an burden.” Trying to stand on her own, she pulled away from the two she-cats, and wobbled like a newborn kit, falling to the dirt and pebble covered ground.
“Sorry.” She muttered angrily, but she was more angry at herself.
What is with me? She asked herself.
“I can carry you,” Falling Water meowed, half jokingly. “You can’t be that heavy right?”
“It’s really no problem, we want to help.” Glimmering Stream meowed, helping Dusk Frost up.
oh fuzz i forgot about this
