If there is a more serious subject you’d like to discuss within the Warriors universe, remember to remain respectful of what people are saying and to handle the topics in question with the necessary care and respect. Does this mean this is a page solely for discussing controversial topics? i’m pretty passionate about this so big essay incoming
i’m still kind of annoyed at how the books do nothing to address the kitten crisis, especially since what the books are basically doing is promoting things like not fixing your cat and releasing your cat into the wild. this isn’t just a one time thing; the books are reiterating over and over that cats are way happier out in the wild, and fixing a cat “rids them of their wildness”, making them sad.
cats are an invasive species everywhere and are awful for the native populations of rodents, birds, and other prey animals because of how successful their hunts are. already there are way too many feral/stray kittens and cats for humans to take care of, which means a horrible amount of cats deemed “unsavable” or “not worth it” have to be euthanized every day to make room for more. the wild is not some wonderful paradise for all felines to go to, there are predators and fights with other cats and diseases and way more. and the problem is that the warriors series denies this, and says the exact opposite.
i constantly see excuses like “it’s just a fantasy book series for children” and “it’s not that big of a deal”, but i just don’t think these people realize the severity of the problem. the vast majority of people reading warriors are children or teenagers, who tend to be very impressionable and may subconsciously see what is presented in the book series as fact. the book series explicitly being fiction does not matter in this case because everything has to be based in reality.
i am sorry if this sounds aggressive in any way. anyone else have any thoughts on this?
cool essay. i do agree that cat are invasive. some do need to be spayed. yeah, the book is in the fantasy genre so it not all events are real.
I agree with you 100%. We need to distinguish between our world and the fictional world in which the clans live. In our world, she cats can become pregnant as young as 6 months and can have as many as 3 or 4 litters per year. A she-cat in the wild will probably die from exhaustion at the age of 4 or 5. I support organizations that that TNR (trap, neuter, return) stray and feral cats. All my cats have been spayed or neutered and none of them have been sad or lazy.
The Warriors world is different. No cat gets pregnant at 6 months. No cat gives birth to litter after litter. She cats have maybe one or two litters in their lifetimes and some have none. Otherwise, the the territories would soon be overflowing with cats and there would be constant battles over territories that are too small to support them.
If anyone is taking the lesson from the Warriors series that they should not spay or neuter their cats or that they should release their cats into the wild, that is the wrong lesson. Maybe a disclaimer from the Erins, like the one saying that you should not try to treat your cats with herbs when they are sick, but you should take them to a vet, would be in order.
And by the way, if you are interested in issues around TNR and TNA (trap neuter adopt) I encourage you to check out TinyKittens, a Canadian feral cat rescue organization that I support. They do a remarkable job of socializing and adopting out adult feral cats, something many people falsely believe is not possible. I can’t post a link under the new code, but just search for “TinyKittens society.”
I agree (i saw somebody reference the book series once when discussing why cats are happier unneutered… pain) The way the cats act in universe makes sense from their perspective, but clarification needs to be made for those who are more impressionable
i completely see where you’re coming from, though i don’t think the erins wrote warriors with those particular messages being their main intention.

We also want to take a poll: do we need a proper Warriors discussion page that isn’t the Elder’s Den? In the first day of comments, we’ve seen a fair amount of comments that are about Warriors but aren’t exactly prompting those in-depth conversations that the Elder’s Den is for. We want to promote in-depth thinking on this page as a change of pace to the rest of the blog, so that leaves the question of where other Warriors chatter should go. Are the discussion and spoiler pages enough, or do we need a page dedicated to Warriors?

I think it would be a nice idea to add that.
I think the Elder’s Den is great, but anther page could do. If I were you, I’d just try to be a little more strict? (Not trying to tell you how to do your job)
We were a little hesitant on being strict before 😛 In fact, quite a few comments got held back for a bit on this page because it was a whole bunch of welcoming messages and “first” comments becaues on one hand, we don’t tend to delete comments but on the other hand that wasn’t what the page is for. We’ll see how this poll goes!
I think a little more strictness might be in order. I don’t want to discourage kits and apprentices from posting here, but I do want to encourage longer, more thoughtful posts and more interactive discussion.

I think another, more general warriors page would be a smart idea; I think you’d get less off-topic or casual discussion that way if you’re set on this area being for serious, detailed talk!
I think this page would suffice for some lighthearted chat, but I do believe that a proper Warriors discussion page where things like debates and stuff like that could occur.
Of course, I’ve always wanted a discussion page for years, so even something like The Elder’s Den is a definite plus for me.

i think there should be a light-hearted warriors discussion page (“the warriors den” could be a funny name lol) and a separate in-depth discussion page (this page) because in-depth discussions tend to go on longer with more replies while light-hearted discussions can be as simple as “my favorite character is __ because __” 🙂

Yeah. That really annoyed me. She was really prejudiced and not much help to Alderheart either.
Sparkpelt is pretty annoying imo, and she’s basically another Firestar clone. honestly, I think it would have been better if the writers had kept her original plot, and came up with something new for Nightheart.

A little weird, but i’m sure these cats have experienced hail sometimes, and i always interpreted Bayshine as the plant which wouldn’t be unreasonable to encounter. I like that they’re more liberal with the names now anyhow, it makes the cats more unique (and bayshine is a cute name!)

I can believe that they probably experienced experienced hail at sometime or other—there’s been every other possible kind of storm in the course of the books. Bay is a kind of tree as well as a geographic feature, so they might have seen one, though I can’t recall any being mentioned. The one that puzzles me most is “thriftkit.” What? Is this a cat that saves its money or shops at the dollar store?

And as I think of it, Sandstorm is kind of an odd name also. The clans don’t live in the desert. Where would they have seen or heard of a sandstorm?
To the Clans, they might just see it as just another mashing-together of words, like Fireheart or Stonefur. Sand as a natural resource, though, is fairly common. It’s odd but not unheard of to have a sand in a forest, and in particular the ThunderClan forest territory has a sandy hollow where training tends to occur since the ground would be softer. Sandstorm was likely given the prefix based on her fur colour, while -storm was likely based on her personality or other characteristics, but the fact that it’s a compound word in the vocabulary of us humans and means a storm where sand is carried by the wind goes unknown by the Clans.
A little bit, but I think that it’s fine because it’s things that cats would know about. Did you know Tigerclaw was originally going to be called Hammerclaw, but they changed it because cats don’t know what hammers are? I think I prefer Tigerclaw.

Leaf x Crow or Feather x Crow, and why do you like the ship you chose?
From the start of their relationship, Tigerheart was above her. He was also in love with her when she was 6 moons old, which is just gross. He’s been manipulating her and gaslighting her for years and literally blackmailed her into getting back together with him. He kidnapped her sister and held her for ransom, and showed time and time again that Dovewing isn’t the most important thing for him. He sees her as something to own rather than someone to be in relationship with. In ShadowClan, Dovewing has no friends but him. She’s seen in his den 24/7 which is…… uncomfortable. Also, all of Dovewing’s appearances have to do with Tigerstar now, but his rarely have to do with her. He’s no longer acting charming and suave around her because he has her now and doesn’t have to pull his tricks anymore.

Tiger X Dove is toxic and abusive because when Dovepaw was only apprentice Tigerheart basically started following her around trying to impress her, and it wasn’t cool at all because timeigerheart made Dovepaw be disloyal to her Clan, too, he was trespassing on ThunderClan territory and promised Dovepaw he’d explain at the Gathering so that Dovepaw being very naive at the time wouldn’t tell her Clan about it. Then he used her to get info about an herb on ThunderClan territory and took Ivypaw hostage in WhadowClan until shadowclan got the herb. Dovewing knew she had to stop seeing him but he pushed and pushed not respecting her at all. Then when Tigerheart’s Clan and kin need him most he runs away to follow Dovewing in the city. Pant over.
I find TigerDove in OOTS toxic because of the way he betrayed Dovewing’s trust as well as the way he acts when trying to make up with Dovewing, it felt very guilt trippy

I know this is unpopular, but I quite like how Firestar was the fourth cat. I’m a sucker for circular structure.
I also have a theory- the “Fire will Save Clans” prophecy is actually about the Omen of Stars, and that the only prophecy relating to BloodClan is the Lion and Tiger prophecy.
I don’t love it, but I guess it was a good way to take Firestar out with a bang lol
And I think this as well, and it’s supported by Leafpool whispering “fire will save the Clan” once the branch is lit ablaze with Firestar going with it.
